April 2008 - the one where we have to babyproof everything!

Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

Ds3 is very unhappy about it! He wants to go back and get "our" car!

scorpio1 · 14/01/2009 16:46

oooh chipmonkey - very nice! We too are upgrading this summer to a 7 seater.

its a well known thing that hangovers go by 3pm. i am doing ok here.......lol. never again!

TheShipsCat · 14/01/2009 17:41

Sorry, don't want to make the thread all miserable, but MIL has just a few hours apparently. DH at the hospital, 4 hours drive away, and I can't help him. I just want to be able to hug him.

Now, back to car talk...

OMaLittle · 14/01/2009 19:08

Oh, TSC, thinking of you. How horrible.

Chipmonkey, we got a new car in April (4 days after DD was born, do you think DH might have been taking advantage of my vulnerable state?!) and DD1 is still saying 'where is the blue car? I want the blue car!'

ElizabethanFilth · 14/01/2009 19:13

Oh TSC, my sympathies.
Will he have to drive home tonight?

TheShipsCat · 14/01/2009 19:26

I think he's going to spend the night at the hospital. They're all waiting for DH's brother to arrive from Australia, he touched down an hour or so ago, so hope he's going to make it in time.

chipmonkey · 14/01/2009 19:30

Aw, TSC, sorry to hear that!

scorpio1 · 14/01/2009 19:37

oh TSC keep strong, you can hug him soon

LadyBee · 14/01/2009 19:44

TSC, truly sorry for you and your dh - such a hard thing for both of you

OMa! Hello - we have a blue car your dd1 could have (going verr cheap). I've decided that since I'm back at work and hardly drove the thing anyway, we're going to get rid of ours and join a car club instead - found one that has a car located within walking distance of us.
Lunch - I'm on the Strand, but can only do Fridays dahling as have sacrificed part of my lunchhour on Mondays & Tuesdays so I can leave early to pick up DS.

Oh Scorpio, meant to say, what day of week is fight in Woking? That's only short trip up the line to London, you know...

I now suspect DS might have vomiting as a teething symptom (oh joy). We've just had another projectile vomit, in the middle of BFing him (way to make a mummy feel loved ), and he's fine - apart from being very easily upset most of the day, but no fever, in good spirits most of the time, eats everything fine, napped fine. Did a quick search of MN and it seems some babies do this? Any experience of it from experienced mums?
Unless it could be allergy - I gave him yoghurt and berries for dessert and looking through childminder book he's had yoghurt and berries on other vomit-y days but also on normal days so
He's definitely teething though.

Should probably go and put washing on. House smells funny now

scorpio1 · 14/01/2009 19:45

oh yes i know it is - can/will travel! it will be a saturday YAY

scorpio1 · 14/01/2009 19:46

(DH is a born and bred surrey boy lol)

LadyBee · 14/01/2009 19:48

TSC - twice my DP has had to fly back to NZ in similar circumstances and twice he's made it in time. I think sometimes people somehow 'wait' for important people, even if they're not aware of what's going on around them. I hope your brother-in-law makes it.

SalLikesCoffee · 14/01/2009 20:01

So sorry, TSC.

Hey MommyHasaH. I am SO jealous of you and LR! At least she's probably back and cold now > You'll have such a wonderful time! Ok, my experience of airport security: They made me taste everything. So the five small boxes of readymixed Aptimel was mostly wasted, as I only had 3 empty milk bottles with me to empty it in, so had to bin the others. Luckily I had milk powder with me too, so I asked for bottled water on the plane and made up his other feeds there. Tip: Take more milk than you think you might need, as I got slightly panicky in the end worrying about what I'd do if I ran out before I got to my check-in luggage. I don't think the 100ml per bottle applies to baby food etc, you just have to taste it all. I had booked a bottle of baby food (Virgin), but once on the plane they realised they didn't have any for me. So I'd take a couple of bottles (or even better, a couple of Ella's pouches) with me. She can always chew away on an apple or something - just ask on board.

Once in SA, finding formula powder was easy enough (Clicks etc all had), but there wasn't a great range of preprepared food. Had all the usual glass bottles (Purity etc) though. I can't remember the formula brands - I think S26 or something was closest to SMA, and there was Nestle (NAN I think).

Oma, would LOVE to meet up for lunch. I'm working in Covent Garden - where are you?

It's mother-in-law's birthday today, so have to go!

SalLikesCoffee · 14/01/2009 20:05

Ladybee, perfect, you're close, would be great catching up.

LadyBee · 14/01/2009 20:57

ooh yes, very close! This is promising.

bumpkin32 · 14/01/2009 21:02

Don't talk to me about cars. DH sold his blue car and bought new pick-up (not blue)few months back. Wheel fell off on way home (only doing 70 on m-way !); took out insurance online and they took our money but never gave us a policy; brakes needed doing and juat got bill for that £450 ! - hoping that's the 3 things. Perhaps he should've kept the blue one...?
Can't believe the hassles with flying with LO - good luck!
TSC - sorry to hear about your MIL.
Took dd back to nursery today for another settling in session - they've now got posters up saying to watch out for chickenpox - aaahhhhhh! Apparently she cried a little when I left but had some milk and biscuits so obviously settled a bit.
She now won't settle in her bed, but don't know if it's cos she's overtired (not slept all day) or nursey upset - she's used to me leaving her so I don't think it's that.

ElizabethanFilth · 14/01/2009 21:12

Id prefer to get chickenpox out of the way tbh, its better when they can be stopped from scratching and just sleep with piriton.

DP is on a late shift tonight This week has been shite, he's worked 8-6 mon and tue, so he leaves at 6:30 and gets home at about 7:30 but yesterday he had to interview some guy so he got in about 9. Plus eh has had three deaths in the last week

Normally I'd just get out the wine but I've bet him I can go teetotal for two months

ElizabethanFilth · 14/01/2009 21:18

Oh and have worked out there is exactly 35 days between each of my periods over the last three months, that must mean something surely?

Ayomi · 14/01/2009 22:38

Hello aqgain all - its been a busy few months!
Hope everyone is getting on ok - will try to read back few some posts and catch up a bit!

chipmonkey · 14/01/2009 23:36

Good luck Ayomi, there's a good 2 days reading there!

Ayomi · 14/01/2009 23:54

ElizabethanFilth · 15/01/2009 08:07

Ugh, we have a poorly household again.
DS1 has been ill with a HUGE temp and the will to do nothing but sleep for the last three days, hasn't been at school since Monday.
Seems ~Panda now has it too, I didn't go to bed til 12, waiting for DP to get in and then was woken at four by an inconsolable baby He had a temp of 103 and I had to give him meds and strip him off, then shower him etc. He did nothing but cry
And now I've seen DD this morning she has bright red glazed eyes so they're all off. I'm not prepared to risk either of them going in and passing this around, it's horrible and I really don't want any other babies to get it.
DP was supposed to be on a 4-12 tonight so I was thinking that I could get a lie in but his shift has been changed to 9-5 Yet another day where I have to do everything by myself.
I'm just SO tired! Even though Panda has been sleeping through for the last couple of weeks I have still only had one full night's sleep since he was born as DS1 has been getting up instead
I am seriously considering buggering off to the travelodge for the night, having a long soak in the bath (I miss ours!!) and spending about 15 hours asleep

Soph73 · 15/01/2009 09:04

Morning all.
TSC - big hugs to you and yours.
ElizabethanFilth - hope the patients get better soon. Buggering off to the travelodge sounds like a plan

Family went home last night. It was eerily quiet in the house but nice to get back to normal. Have a slight hangover this morning though as DH & I sat on the patio chatting and drinking. Shocking behaviour, I mean who would drink too much during the week

Hi Ayomi, have fun catching up

Soph73 · 15/01/2009 09:44

Where is everyone?
