popsy - you're not cod in disguise are you? Or typing one-handed with a baby in the other arm?

popsycal · 22/04/2005 12:51

Hi all

Has anyones baby experienced lots of vomiting? Levi is 7 weeks old tomorrow and seems to puke up a hell of alot! I'm not too worried as he has doubled his birth weight already and seems happy and contented most of the time. I thought I might be overfeeding him (he has 5-6 feeds of 5 oz in a 24 hour period) but my HV has said that this is fine. He's currently taking SMA white and a little breast at night. Any advice?

popsycal · 22/04/2005 13:52

have a vomitter here too......

ZoeC · 22/04/2005 17:36

Yep, me too with a very sicky baby.

ZoeC · 22/04/2005 17:37

Oh, and she's not stopped feeding for about 4 hours so I'm thinking the six week growth spurt may have come early (she's five weeks). Anyone else get it early, or have I got worse to come???

bonym · 22/04/2005 17:41

ZoeC - you're not alone. She will be 5weeks on Sunday and fed almost constantly this morning. Started doing the sleep/feed diary and thought "this is ridiculous" as she fed at 6.30am, 8am, 9.30am and 10.30am. NOT how things have been typically! Hope there isn't worse to come

misdee · 22/04/2005 17:42

i have a dry flakey baby. she peeled from head to toe after birth, then had dry papery skin, now she is flaking again have been using diprobase on her, but will see GP again over the weekend to see if anything else can be used. bit upset and just hoping it doesnt turn into eczema, i couldnt deal with long bathtime/bed routine for 3, its hard with 2 that needs various different creams applied.

will try and keep a feed/sleep diary as well.

popsycal · 22/04/2005 19:09

bonym - sounds like a nomal day for us !!!

Hi,

By continuous, i meant it literally btw. She cried everytime she came off until i latched her on again. She's asleep now thankfully but last time she was like that was around 2 weeks so I think it could be growth spurt. Doubtless she'll moan tomorrow that it's coming too quickly and be spluttering!

Oh well, will try for the diary again tomorrow!

3mummy · 23/04/2005 17:33

Hi everyone. I have done a sleep/feed diary for one day. I still have a (slightly) constipated baby girl so orange juice is included on the diary.

6am til 7am - 2 boobs
Awake time.

7:30am - orange juice
Awake

9am til 12:15 - sleep

12:15 til 1pm - 2 boobs
Awake

1:30 - orange juice

Sleep til 2:45 (finish off bit of oj)
Sleep

4:15 til 5pm - 2 boobs
Sleep
Awake
Sleep in car

8pm til 9pm 2 boobs
Sleep
Awake

11pm til 12 midnight bottle 5 1/2oz bottle

Cuddle and gently pat back to sleep

6am wake up and feed 2 boobs.

So that's my day for yesterday - she does tend to sleep more when I have to do the school run as she likes the car! So today has been slightly different. And she has filled a nappy, hence the only slightly constipated baby - she is still straining an awful lot and not filling any more nappies, so I'm keeping up with the orange juice just watering it down more.

That's us then, I look forward to reading everyone elses .

lol

popsycal · 23/04/2005 19:36

well here is the day so far....been out and about today so he has slept a bit more than normal in the car...
6am woke and had a short feed - not sure if it was part of 'night time' or today really
7:50am awake and feed one side
still awake
8:45 other side (I always end up having to split the first feed due to ds1 and getting breakfast etc)
9am sleep
10am awake
10:20 feed both sides
awake
11-12:30 sleep in car and round shops
12:50 feed both sides (in pub with a gaggle of grannies gawping and giving a running commentary to each other )
awake
2:05-2:30 sleep in car
2:40 feed one side then fell asleep feeding at 3:10-4:00
4:00 feed other side
4:20-5:40 sleep
5:45 awake v short feed for one side then fell asleep at 6 until 7:15

now up and feeding at 7:25

as i said he has slept more than usual as we have been in the car/buggy a lot.......
wish he would go longer between feeds and therefore take more and have longer stints asleep rather than catnaps....

advice?

This is my diary from Friday - didn't get a chance to post yesterday! :
6.30am - 5 min feed then fell asleep again
8am - feed, back to sleep
9.30am - threw up - fed again
10.30am - feed
11.15am - fell asleep
12.15pm - woke for 10 mins, back to sleep
12.50pm - woke up. Feed
1.55pm - feed
2.30pm - sleep
5.50pm - woke up. Feed
7pm - feed
8.10pm - feed
9pm - feed
10pm -feed, sleep
4.30am - woke, fed, back to sleep
6.15am - woke, fed.

Didn't seem to be a typical day - feeding much more frequently in the morning than usual (growth spurt?) although afternoon/evenin/night fairly typical.

ZoeC · 24/04/2005 15:15

Sorry, think we're still on a bit of a growth spurt as doesn't seem like much in the way of gaps. Will do a diary tomorrow.

omg, 3mummy, how have you managed to get that good a routine? Jealous here too!

popsycal · 24/04/2005 15:40

the day finished off as follows:
7:45 fell asleep
10pm woke - short feed then fell asleep at 10:20
10:45 awake
10:55 short feed
short sleep
11:15 awake short feed

awake but unsettled so short feed at 12:10
12:45 sleep
2am awake short feed then v unsettlled so came in my bed and fed what felt like every 15 mins for a minute then dozed back to sleep
6:00 awake feed one side
sleep
7:20 awake feed other side

ARRGH
A typical night then

OP posts:
3mummy · 24/04/2005 18:13

And there was me complaining about lack of sleep and constipation (Faith not me)!!

To be honest that was a typical week day when Faith just has to fit in around my older two DDs, and she has pretty definite sleep times in the day because thats when she falls asleep in the car - and doesn't wake up when I bring her into the house. The weekend is totally different, today has been hectic with her, she seems over tired but doesn't want to sleep - and she is still straining terribly .

But on the plus side she did sleep for about 3 hrs in her cot last night - she would only sleep in her carseat or on my chest before (or DH chest), however she does sleep 6hrs at night if she is in her carseat, so I guess it's swings and roundabouts!

I think she is very good really and I do feel blessed - but it's God making up for the terror that was my DD2 as a baby!! She didn't sleep longer than 2hrs for her first 4mths and was soooooo sick she barely kept any milk down.

So to put your minds at rest I shall endeavour to make a weekend diary to show you how it can be - routine goes right out the window !

norash40 · 24/04/2005 20:53

Hey Y'all,

I finally graduated. I am finally worthy to be on the postnatal thread.

Is anyone here?

3mummy · 24/04/2005 21:03

Hi Norash, congratulations!!! How's it all going? So pleased you are back - we were wondering where you were .

popsycal · 24/04/2005 21:05

norash40 · 24/04/2005 21:11

Where do I start? I am not a very good story teller so maybe if you guys ask questions and I will answer.

popsycal · 25/04/2005 10:03

OP posts:
shalaa · 25/04/2005 11:43

Hi Norash welcome back!

Caleb is still sleeping well at night, still a messy feeder there's milk stains all over the house! We have a baby massage class today which i'm really looking forward to, I had a curry on Friday though and I have an very windy baby to show off.

Don't know about anyone else but i'm already planning number 2! DP had a heartattack when I mentioned it, would like to try for another one around Calebs 3rd birthday. Sounds ages away but i'm sure it will fly by.
