Hi everyone - Pidge I am also doing the one-handed typing thing - Grace is feeding and she takes so long about it I have to have something else to occupy myself - book, tv or good old MN!
Not such a settled night last night - only went 3 hrs after last feed before she was awake demanding more and then woke again a couple of hours later for another feed and wouldn't go back in her hammock. We brought her into bed with us and she slept snuggled into dh the rest of the night! She's also been less settled today - won't go down to sleep and being rather grouchy . My 3 best friends are all visiting her for the 1st time this afternoon so I hope her grouchiness doesn't continue!
Popsycal - - I'm sure there is nothing to worry about - I'm certain the health visitor would hace said if there were - they tend to be fairly matter of fact ladies IME!

Leogaela · 01/04/2005 18:11

Pidge - just a thought, do you rock Iris to sleep? If you do maybe try not to then she won't miss the rocking feeling when you put her down to sleep.....

Popsycal - stop worrying!!!! That's the best way to create a problem that isn't there! I am sure you are doing a fantastic job and it sounds as if Harry is doing very well!

Tired today, Niklas woke up too alert during one of his feeds last night and took me ages to settle him again. dh was playing ice hockey last night so i spent the whole day and evening on my own with Niklas and I am afraid to say that I started to get very fed up and tired by the evening as he had been grumpy and difficult all day, when he woke up I was too impatient and tired to really relax and settle him so kept putting him down before he was asleep and he started crying again, and again and again.... dh was sleeping so deeply that i didn't want to wake him to take over, but tomorrow is saturday so I am not worried about him having to go to work!

Bonym - sounds as if Grace is doing really well! Niklas still demands a feed about every 3 hours sometimes less and also for a looooooong time .... and I have to admit it gets really, really BORING! Television here is really terrible and i just can't read one handed!

Well my little bundle of joy is screaming again!

ZoeC · 01/04/2005 21:28

Girly - hope the medication works really soon for you and you can enjoy things again.

Popsy - he's doing really well so don't worry. Your hv was happy so you can refer your family to her from now on

We're still feeding around every 2/2.5 hours here - possibly a bit less at night but I tend to fall asleep so suspect she snacks at will sometimes. Feeling a bit tender - thinking of getting some better nursing bras, mine have seams across the nipples which isn't helping. Getting a better latch though so not as painful. On good nights I can get her to sleep in the moses basket too, but sometimes she just keeps bringing milk up so I find myself changing the bedding all the time. She is so sicky it's untrue - wind gives her problems but I keep forgetting to use infacol. Must get into the habit.

Had quite a feeding fest earlier - felt like I'd been bled utterly dry so guess I'll be engorged in the morning. Joy!

Hope everyone here has less pain and more sleep soon

Yay, Popsy, well done!

I've just been to the doctors - dd has thrush (which presumably means I have or will shortly have thrush) so I've got cream and she's on nystol (sp?) drops so will hopefully improve soon.

3mummy · 02/04/2005 21:42

Hi everyone. I just don't get time to sit here and type these days but I had to pop on tonight and let you all know I do still check how you all are everyday. And I must say how truly reassuring it is to see I'm not the only one with a guzzler who is unsettled most of the night and hates her moses basket!!

I am thoroughly enjoying breastfeeding now the soreness has gone, except for the fact that Faith likes to feed for anything from one to two hours and it's very tiring!! Needless to say I am feeling really guilty that I'm neglecting DD1 and DD2 as it's the Easter hols and we haven't ventured far from the house this week - the biggest outing has been to Sainsburys !!

Anyway must go feed Faith...again!! . All the best to you all - we all seem to be in the same boat - lets hear it for 6hrs unbroken sleep ......... maybe one day !!?

misdee · 02/04/2005 21:46

i'm not sure if i sahould benhere or on the feb board. serena will be 6 weeks old on monday. its gone so quick. she was last weighed at 4 weeks old and was 9lb-ish. we are still breastfeeding, and its going really well. she has just started coo-ing at us all, its really cute. lots of smiles and funny faces too.

ZoeC · 02/04/2005 22:00

Just a quickie - do I need to wash off daktarin before a feed?

KirstyG · 03/04/2005 03:05

Hi there! Just wanted to join in if that's ok! I gave birth on 17 March 2005, to Dylan James. He's doing wonderfully so far!

bonym · 03/04/2005 11:59

Another quickie - don't know Daktarin Zoe (assume it's nipple cream?) but midwife said that Kamillosan tasted terrible and would wash it off (suggested I put some on my finger and then tasted it!). She recommended Vaseline instead which is suprisingly really good!
Misdee - yes - stay here with us! We all know each other now and Serena was almost a March baby .
Will post again when have more time...

ZoeC · 03/04/2005 14:28

Boneym - Daktarin is for thrush so vaseline won't help. Does'nt seem to have put dd2 off so far, and i'm reluctant to wash it off as I want it to work asap!

bonym · 03/04/2005 20:55

Oops - sorry Zoe!

Leogaela · 03/04/2005 22:12

Hello all,
Haven't managed to check in for a day or two. The weekend was very busy and besides that Niklas has been quite unsettled.

ZoeC, Niklas is also still feeding around every 2 hours. Today though we were out most of the day and he slept in the car seat and in the pushchair. He was so cosy that he forgot to wake up! He didn't feed for 4 1/2 hours (!!!!) and then fed really, really well and hasn't been very hungry since! I think he may wake up in the night very hungry but I think its a sign that the longer he can go without feeding the hungrier he is so the better he feeds and the longer he lasts until the next one!

Niklas has worked out the difference between night and day so sleeps more at night than during the day, but if we are out a lot he will sleep for hours in the car seat and the push chair, then won't go to sleep until late.

Misdee - Its great to hear from you! You have been very quiet recently. Niklas was a Feb baby as well, but I started out as a March mum, so I'm not going to change now! how are things with you? How are your other dds getting used to her? Are her smiles real smiles at you? Niklas is smiling, but not real smiles at me yet! how is your dh?

bonym · 04/04/2005 15:49

Hah hah!! Have just managed to put a photo of Grace on here . It was a right blooming palaver to do it so you must all have a look and tell me how lovely she is

Cristina7 · 04/04/2005 16:16

Grace is gorgeous. Well done!

3mummy · 04/04/2005 16:17

bonym - Grace is gorgeous!! And she looks very comfy, I'm guessing that's Daddys chest she's lying on? - That's Faiths favourite place too .

Well after being a little panicked over the last few days about how much Faith is feeding and how much sleep I'm not getting, we had a visit from the HV this morning. I poured my heart out about how well the BF is going (not sore anymore) and how I don't want to do anything to muck it up, but that Faith feeds so often and never seems fully satisfied that I'm worried my milk supply isn't so good. HV told me I could try giving a supplemental evening bottle just to give myself a break and a chance to eat, rest and build up some more milk - this I was loathe to try as I had heard it could affect milk supply. Anyway, after sorting this issue out HV weighed Faith, who is now 7lb 7.5oz - She has put on 6oz in 5 days!! guess my milk supply isn't so bad eh?!! He He I am so pleased with myself.

Since Faith was born 2wks 5days ago she has put on 1lb 3.5oz, going from 6lb 4oz to 7lb 7.5oz . I just had to come and tell you all how chuffed I am - after feeling so utterly exhausted and like a full time milking machine I am pleased there was a good reason!

Lets just hope the weight falls off me as quickly as Faith puts it on! - Although so far Easter has put paid to that!

Hope you are all well, and all sore nipples are calming down now!!

xx

Cristina7 · 04/04/2005 16:18

KirstyJ - welcome on here. We're a bit short on boys in this March group, so welcome to Dylan as well.

Cristina7 · 04/04/2005 16:21

3mummy - Faith is feeding really well then. Well done to you both. I have a very sleepy baby so I'm a bit envious (joking!) to read of all these babies feeding so well. I have to wake up mine, she'll feed a bit then back to sleep. If she has this kind of appetite when she's a teenager I'll get gray hairs with worry (OK, I'll be in my 50s by then, so I might just have grey hair anyway). She's putting on weight though and I promised myself not to be a neurotic mum this time round...

3mummy · 04/04/2005 16:28

christina7, sounds like you have a very contented little girl, you lucky thing . Let me in on your secret!!?

Pidge · 05/04/2005 09:47

It's so hard to get online these days - maybe when dd1 goes back to the childminder I'll be less hopeless at logging on. Right now she's watching tv with dp, whilst Iris miraculously fell asleep in her bouncy chair. Unheard of!

Anyway, lovely to catch up on everyone's news and babies. Misdee - stay with us, you're definitely a March girl at heart!

I am happy as anything because our feeding problems are finally disappearing. We turned the corner a couple of days ago, and although I'm still sore on one side, it's no longer agony to feed. I've stopped fantasising about having gas and air to get me through the feeds . It's such a relief not to spend the whole time dreading the next feed.

Evenings are now are biggest challenge - as Iris takes after her big sister and starts hollering and refusing to sleep from about 6pm onwards! We push her in the pushchair and she instantly falls asleep, but 2 minutes after arriving home she's awake and yelling again. So yours truly becomes the human dummy and sticks her on the boob every 40 minutes!

Leogaela - I do rock her to sleep sometimes - as in the evening that's the only thing other than my boob or the pushchair that will stop her yelling! But frankly she's not staying asleep whatever we do. The only solution to this last time round was reaching the magical 3 months, when all got easier.

But generally I'm really enjoying parenthood second time round. Much more relaxed than the first time.

Must dash!

Leogaela · 05/04/2005 12:40

Niklas

So now I've managed to put a picture up too!

Cristina7 · 06/04/2005 07:58

Niklas is gorgeous. Well done! Aren't they cute when they frown like that? My DD also frowns sometimes and pulls faces, you'd think being awake is such a nuisance and inconvenience.

Girly · 06/04/2005 11:03

Hi everyone!

Still not getting much online time as Millie is quite a demanding little darling, but I have managed to pst a piccie in the member profiles for you all to admire!

Looks like we are all still having the same little problems ie constan feeding, not much sleep, etc etc! Par for the course apparently, its only a phase I keep on telling myself!!

Hope everyone is well and not stressing too much.

Pidge · 06/04/2005 12:29

Wow, what gorgeous pics. And very organised - it's all I can do to boot up the computer and get myself logged on before Iris starts yelling. But also dd1 has been on hols from the childminder and now she's back there 3 days a week, I'm hoping I might be on here just a bit more regularly to catch up with you all.

Girly - that's exactly what I keep muttering "It's just a phase" - particularly last night between 1am and 2.30am when Iris was in party mood. Or rather in yelling mood! I remember with dd1 that 3 months was a magic turning point, she started yelling less, was going to sleep at 7pm and not waking till 2am so giving us some heavenly time to eat supper and have a glass of wine in peace. I'm fantasising about eating a meal without having Iris breastfeeding, with a napkin draped over her, whilst I shovel in food with my free hand!!

But babies are fab really aren't they? I've had a couple of smiles after feeds recently, and I know they're not supposed to be real smiles till 6 weeks, but they're still pretty cute.

Right - Iris has gone 4 hours without a feed, so am going to wake her up and tell her to look lively. So I'll be doing lunch whilst feeding her again!
