hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BumpermightsuetheSindie · 02/01/2009 09:57

No hols here either!

I'm off for a few days for a family weekend then back to work next week so will catch up with you soon.

Congrats to Tallulah by the way!

happynewRia · 02/01/2009 17:03

quiet today. I've just checked to see if you'd all started a new thread.

So, today we have had our first trip of 2009 to A&E. DH has overdone it at work and buggered his shoulder again he couldn't move his arm this morning. He has had an x-ray and a pain-killing jab and has to rest up for a couple of days.

on the plus side the boys and I have walked 5 miles while DH was at the hospital. We walked along the marine drive and up into town, and did a little tiny bit of shopping. We went before 11am and have been back about an hour. Am ready for a big fat meal an a bottle of wine, but might as well stick to the diet as I've done so much bloody exercise!

happynewRia · 02/01/2009 17:04

loved Jonathon Creek though, but what happened to the body of the blonde woman?

Ekka · 02/01/2009 19:09

Oooh, don't spoil Jonathan Creek for me Ria, I recorded it to watch sometime (when I don't have kids around ).

Sorry to hear about the A&E trip, hope your dh's shoulder improves soon. Great news on the walking. I definitely need to work on that.

My main resolution this year has to be to lose weight, but we have 3 bars of dairy milk that can't go to waste plus the Xmas cake and also we'll be getting food for the christening, so I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll be polishing off quite a lot of cr*p.... Must work on my willpower! And another important resolution is to spend less. I need to start menu planning again etc. We currently have 3 shops on our high street which have just closed down and it does make you realise that nothing is really guaranteed in the current climate.

We're trying to think of places to go on holiday this year, we have to go to Canada to visit dh's parents (which will cost at least £1.5k if we can avoid the school holiday season) so anything else we do needs to be cheap! Probably we'll do a long weekend somewhere and then spend some time at home doing free things nearby...

happynewRia · 02/01/2009 19:57

sorry Ekka, but I don't think it'll spoil it for you, there's plenty of blonde women to go at! (and you can make a special effort to watch carefully and work it out for me)

Just taken DH a coffee and woken him as I need to get the boys to bed. He was having a lovely sleep and snuggling my PJs

I have eaten chocolate biscuits (for the stress you understand) I need to get some willpower!

Ohforfoxsake · 02/01/2009 22:20

safety ensconced on the sofa, large baileys.

NY consisted of a lot of vodka and dancing in pub (just me and DP IIRC). It was good fun, but drinking like that is not for me anymore.

Ria, Norfolk is lovely. But stop talking about holidays - there's 2 days of Christmas left . We are having another Christmas dinner on Sunday and stripping the tree (can't bring myself to do it when the kids are at school, it will be too sad when they get home - for me, not them I think). Then I'll pack up the rest of Christmas on monday.

Great news on Tallulahbelle - and thanks for letting me know Daisy

Went to SILs today, her 4 bed, 4 bathroom detatched place is the same value of our flat. Suddenly the move up north really isn't looking so bad!

happynewRia · 03/01/2009 10:58

glad you survived foxy. I am leaving the decs up til Mon/Tues, I'd rather do it on my own. I will miss it all too.

poor baggins has sticky eyes today.

think we are back at hospital later for another jab, so will try to fit in another trek. (there are nice woods near the hospital) but better try some tidying first. resolutions not going well

LittleMissNorty · 03/01/2009 15:20

Quiet today.......

My decs are all down and put away....along with next years pressies bought in the sale

Replaced with tons of baby things out of the loft....god knows where its all going to go

DD moves into her new cot and bedroom tonight

Ohforfoxsake · 03/01/2009 19:20

My decs are down and there is a clearing on the floor. God knows what I am going to do with all the shit childrens' presents.

Bad match today, huh Norty? Has your DH got a right nark on too? DP has. Plus he has double pneumonia man flu.

LackaDAISYcal · 03/01/2009 19:41

have you seen the new doctor who????? who being the operative word. some spotty pseudo adult who has only been in about three things on TV. what were they thinking of?

Ohforfoxsake · 03/01/2009 19:50

NO! was it in the press? Don't tell me I missed it.

How are you doing today Daisy?

LittleMissNorty · 03/01/2009 19:57

DH always gets a strop on when they lose....I was upstairs sorting out baby stuff and poor DD was getting the brunt.

Didn't you see Party Animals Daisy....he was very good in that

gotta go, steak cooking!

LackaDAISYcal · 03/01/2009 19:58

It was on Dr Who Confidential this afternoon. We only caught the end and they finished with a pic of his face......we were like "who the f is that?". I only got his name from the thread on here. it's this chap....ew ew ew. Rumour had it that it was going to be Paterson Joseph.

LittleMissNorty · 03/01/2009 19:58

Fucking darts.....why do we have to have darts on

LackaDAISYcal · 03/01/2009 20:03

Still bleargh here foxy. This has been the longest running sore throat I've ever had. It's getting better, but is very sore when I yawn....which happens a lot at the minute. I also have bunged sinuses and the nasty headache associated with that, but can't take any decongestants.

I've also had a milk blister on my nipple today, which is a first for me!

On the upside, co-sleeping fully for the last few nights has meant that both F and I have had good nights sleep.

happynewRia · 03/01/2009 20:32

bollocks. trying to get DS2 to go to sleep on his own. It's not working. I need supernanny.

DH not impressed with the new doctor either. but it was going to have to be someone pretty special. give him 1 series and then get Peter Davidson back!!!

justbeme · 03/01/2009 22:17

Many Congrats Talluah to you for the arrival of your twin girls!! Wow! Don't forget to update us with the birth story. Do hope all is improving for your little T2.

Hope DH's shoulder is better soon Ria. and congrats to Natty - you must feel abit more relaxed now?

Have spent the last few days shopping in the sales. No clothes for me (as per usual) - just bits and bobs. Got a nice wooden Teletubby table and 2 chairs for LO today in Toysrus for £15.

happynewRia · 03/01/2009 22:22

Hi JBM, how are you doing?

DS2 asleep in his own bed (for nearly an hour!) after a lots of fuss. baggind still wakeful and in ours, and have just passed responsibility to DH. (DHs meds knock him out so I will be on duty all night)

justbeme · 03/01/2009 22:30

Im fine Ria - DP just had to get Lo to sleep - she was hyper! Gave me some MN time, but Im off now.
I seem to only manage to come on here quickly nowadays!

happynewRia · 03/01/2009 22:34

aha, that's why I don't have a RL - it gets in the way too much

happynewRia · 04/01/2009 10:48

Does anyone know anything about cats as they get old and go mad? Obe is probably 11ish. Since NYE we have had 2 strage cats on the doorstep and they've tried to get in. This mornings one went upstairs. Is it co-incidence or is it something linked to my cat being old (like spraying or something). I don't think he sprays, he isn't "complete" so isn't their dad or anything. It is odd.

Hope everyone ok today.

DS1s friend is here again and no-one is dressed ... AGAIN.

planning a walk on the beach later, DH is going back to work this afternoon for a short shift. Fingers crossed.

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 04/01/2009 12:56

OMG daisy! i am devistated too! i am going to miss david tennant SO much, it was because of him i got into doctor who in the first place, the other bloke didnt do it for me in the first series.

we have all come down with the lurgy here, poor tom has had cronic diareeh since yesterday and ellen is miserable so shes next

have been discussing nuchal scans on my antenatal thread, seems im the only one that would have to think about the impact on my family to have a downs syndrome child, everyone else feels "they would love the child anyway" am feeling a bit about it, i dare not discuss it with anyone else but u guys cos ppl on MN atm are quite harsh.
so am i being unreasonable to think that perhaps ontop of toms SN, that i would seriously consider not continuing the pregnancy? or am i an evil woman for even thinking like that?

happynewRia · 04/01/2009 13:22

hey natty, sorry you're all feeling ill.

I think there's only you can decide about Downs TBH. IMO you have a valid reason for considering your options, and obviously you aren't considering those options because you wouldn't "love the child", you have to consider all your children, and your ability to cope, and your DHs ability to cope. DH heard something on the radio that said apparently there are fewer Downs terminations nowadays because it has very much become a "fashion statement"(his ExMIL used to foster downs children so it's something he feels very strongly about) Is there a big risk for you? As you can tell I'm not very clued-up on the subject

happynewRia · 04/01/2009 13:28

my kids are doing my head in. DS1s friend is doing my head in. The house stinks of kippers (as does baggins who is trying to snuggle me - yuk) and I have no energy left to drive to the beach, but I have to or I will throttle someone

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 04/01/2009 13:36

aw ria! kids are exhausting, expecailly if ur not feeling 100%

not im not high risk i dont think im only 23. no one in my family with downs either. just have a bad feeling something is wrong. i felt this way with tom, its only now i know why. but with ellen i was confident there was nothing wrong i wasnt worried about her scans at all.
maybe its all the stff with tom making me think if i have one SN i could have others? does that sound silly?
