We bought a 2nd hand magnetic book for Jamlet's stocking. She is bemused by it, it is quite funny

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 21:54

DD loves these magnets. she stands and sings at them as well which is really cute.

She's also discovered that if she sits on her new bike, and then stands on the front wheels she can tip it over. For some reason she thinks this is a clever and funny thing to do , even though she nearly cracked her nose today on some toys that were on the floor.

We are thinking of summer holidays. We would like to go back to Staithes, but feel that we need a garden this year and outside space is very rare in Staithes. Any ideas for a great beach location, with interesting rocks and fossils, three beds and under £500 a week?

bumper, thansk for asking about the feeding

His latch is still pants and I regularly have chafed nipples and blocked ducts, but I have oodles and oodles of milk so he is thriving.

I've kind of got lying down to feed sorted this time (although not completely hence chafing) which makes night feeds more bearable.

He still snuffles and snorts and growls thorughout feeds, so public Bfing is a bit embarrasing.

but, he is only 8 weeks so time yet for it all to click!

this any good?

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 22:40

ok, this is the bit where I turn to the wine, chocolate, bread loaf. Anything. I have just put baggins in his playpen. He will not go to sleep. I have been trying since my last post
And because I was not in the living room to tell DS1 to go to bed, he thought it was ok to stay up til 10.30.

Aargh.

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 22:42

nice cottage jammy

come down the coast a bit daisy. not mearly as select down here you know! Flamborough?
Will look for you later, but for now need to wash up before DH gets in...

Sputnik · 31/12/2008 09:41

Ah tis the holidays Ria, don't fret.
I knew full well DS wouldn't go to bed last night as he'd had a mega nap until about 6, so I stuck him in front of Shaun the Sheep and he went to bed with me.
Won't win the Mother of the Year award but kept my sanity.

happynewRia · 31/12/2008 09:55

that is what I should have done too sputnik. Baggins napped til 5, must be something in the air.

So, tonight we are having -

prawns (yuk), DS1 wants to do prawn cocktail, but without the lettuce!

roasted chicken with lemon garlic & herbs, roast potatoes & sweet potatoes, baked orange carrots, roast brocolli & cauli with garlic & cumin

Bread & butter pud with ice cream.

Just putting the B&B to soak then off to tesco. today could finish me off! talkabout the blind leading the blind

come dine with me...

Sputnik · 31/12/2008 10:14

Not sure what we're doing tonight, we had a vague invite to friend's but it has to be confirmed. Managed to duck out of going to MIL's house as DC's would've been a wreck before we even got there and we would've ended up getting home at 2 in the morning. We are going tomorrow instead to do xmas all over again.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 13:58

pork and mushroom stroganof for us this evening.

I won't be staying up for the bells this year......too bloody knackered. Bumble slept for an hour between 10 and 3am, then would only settle on my chest the rest of the night, and wasn't really asleep. I think I had about three hours unbroken sleep last night.

I now have pains in my lungs as well, so feeling really crap. I never took the ABs that I was prescribed for mastitis....I'm wondering whether to self medicate with them now.

I'm missing the Scottish New Year ; it's much more of an event there....but old habits dioe hard and I need to whizz round and get this place straightened up as you can't start the New Year with an unclean/untidy house.

Daisy sit down and rest up fgs

happynewRia · 31/12/2008 16:39

I will be starting the new year with a cleaner than usual kitchen, but that'll be about it.

daisy, hope you feel better soon. try to take it easy.

hope all is well for Tbelle

poor DS1, we he has been slaving away in the kitchen since we got back from Tesco (they had half price slow cookers today - £17) and when he rang his friend to confirm, his friend is feeling poorly so isn't coming (he did say could he come and play and just not eat, but he hasn't come so his mum must have said no to that). It all smells delish. Another 15 mins or so and we'll fry the prawns in garlic & chilli (he is having marie rose on the side though!) Hopefully DH will be hungry/so impressed with his mini-me that he will eat when he gets in!

I will be back later (if it kills me) but if I miss midnight - HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 16:46

My new oven has a slow cook facility on it. Must try it out in the new year.

no text yet from T'belle.

bumble is awake and alert and smiling and gurgling. first time he's really been like this.

DD is telling us all "lub oo" (love you) this afternoon. My heart is melting

Daisy, hope you feel better soon.

Ria, your DS's prawns sound delish! Hope you have a good evening.

Have had a very creative afternoon here. Made a dozen thank you cards with Jamlet using the finger paints my DSis sent her for Christmas. Then after a lovely soak in the bath I have prepared the veg, finished making the trifle, and stuffed the pork with fresh herbs ready for dinner tonight.

DH should be back from his trip out with Jamlet anytime now, and from then on I expect we will be busy, and MN may be banned later (understandably as we are meant to be having a nice dinner and watching a film together), so let me now wish you all A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 31/12/2008 16:50

Aw, Daiisy, x-posts - that's really sweet!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 16:54

I haven't done anything except watch a film.

happynewRia · 31/12/2008 16:54

to you too jammy.

I expect to be on my own til after midnight but my book is waiting!

forgot to say, we're having brown bread and butter "cigars" with the prawns!

must go...

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 16:56

DH has just come home with tales of people taking three weeks to get over this lurgy

justbeme · 31/12/2008 17:06

Quickly popping on to wish every one a Happy New Year - Just have my sis coming over later with her family. Then work tomorrow.

Hope Tallulah is ok -

Speak to you all next year!

Sputnik · 31/12/2008 17:07

Which is why you should look after yourself Daisy
Looks like we're off out to friend's tonight.

DS can say car as well as cat now

Funny, with DD was keen to do painting and stuff, with DS I tend to think "well he can do that at nursery" (in fact he walked through the paint the other day)

Sputnik · 31/12/2008 17:08

Hi there JBM, have a good one

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 31/12/2008 17:42

Just got to gloat here - DH came home with his usual bag full of bargains from Waitrose, including a mahoosive gammon joint reduced in price from £35 to £11 ! I have just butchered it into 4 sections and popped them in the freezer

Sputnik · 31/12/2008 18:06

Right, I'm off out in a bit, so just wanted to wish everyone happy new year

happynewRia · 31/12/2008 19:02

your DH is king of the bargains jammy.

Yum. DS1 loved his prawns, DS2 liked the garlic & chilli oil with his cigar. Baggins is like me and didn't like prawns. It was a lovely meal and worth the supervision. DS1 had relaid the table for DH, and left a glass out labelled "tips for the chef". I think he might not get what he is hoping for!

Have a lovely evening sputnik & JBM.

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 31/12/2008 20:10

Hello all

Wishing you a happy new year! DH and I are just chilling with a bottle of cava and might polish off my Lindt Lindor.

Got a few bargains in town today with some money my mum gave me for Christmas. That'll be the last of the clothes shopping for a while. We worked out with DH pay and my pay we will literally just manage to cover our bills with nowt to spare. Ho hum.

Anyway, to stave off the depression I bought these trews but they were £55 to £35 then reduced to £30 (which was bizarre because the pair I tried on the day before yesterday were still £35). One of the buttons was missing (comes with a spare though) so I managed to get it knocked down again to £25 even though I suspect that the reduction to £30 was already because of that. ANyway, they are gorgeous, look a bit crap on the website but they are not really creased like that.

Also spent £40 in Primark and got a pair of knee high flat boots, patent black pumps, 2 t shirts, a vest top, a smock type top and a black cardie!

Hope you all have lovely evenings anyway. Take care
