Where's Febes?!

LMB - the week after half term is better for me - it's after payday! I'll email you. Looking forward to a trip to the seaside!

Booked our tickets to go and see the Wiggles in Brighton next month, I'm so excited, they were amazing last time. I breastfed William through the whole thing last time, but I think he'll be more interested in the show this time round!

Congratulations Febes! Great news

The Wiggles They are fantastic, we have 2 DVDs which are perfect for when the weather is bad, both the kids love singing and dancing to them.

Oh Loopy, you poor thing. If it's any consolation we had a bad night last night with DD too. She didn't go to sleep til gone 8.30 (although we didn't put her to bed til 8pm due to me not getting home from work til just gone 7pm) and then she was up at 1am. I had to bring her into our bed, where she fidgeted for the next 4 hours until DP's alarm went off at 5am and thereafter every 5 minutes for the next HOUR!! Any wishes of going back to sleep were scuppered because DP will not get out of bed when his alarm goes off but insists on snoozing it for an hour!! GGRR!!

Would it help if you slung her up when she gets whingey in the day? Perhaps she could have a nice snuggle on your back for a bit. When DD's being a pain, i sling her up and dont hear from her for ages!

Hope your nights improve tho. It must be so hard for you, especially with your other DCs to look after too.

littleoldme · 22/05/2009 17:15

Sorry you hear you've had bad nights; hope tonight is lovely and snoozy. Still, could be worse !

Hi everyone. Glad to hear you saw the birth announcement. Rueben was born on Sunday night after a long hellish day. I thought second labours were easier . All worth it in the end though. He is adorable and Anabel loves him. She holds his hand and sits on my knee when I feed him. I hope they will be great friends when Rueben is a bit bigger. My mum was here so she was a great help on Sunday and has been great ever since and its lovely to see Anabel with her Grandma.

Congrats Febes! And welcome to little Rueben, what a lovely name .

Hi everyone, I keep popping on to catch up then getting interrupted before I can say anything!

Loopy and all the other early starters - lots of early starts here too, 5.30 generally but we had a 4.30 the other day and it was deeply unfunny. I feel like I have hit a bit of a brick wall with tiredness now because no matter how early I go to bed to try and catch up I still feel knackered the next day. Not helped by the fact that I am not enjoying bfeeding anymore and trying really hard to wean him but he is still a boobaholic although I only feed him morning and night now. Argghhh! But he is so funny and cheeky at the moment and he has started saying "mimmy" (mummy) so I can forgive him most of the time!

Must go and find some cheap home insurance while he has his nap! xx

LittleMissBliss · 27/05/2009 19:33

Hi all,
haven't posted for a few days so lost the thread.

Febes Congratulations on your little boy! Must be lovely having one of each!
I will be coming to you for tips when this LO arrives. Lovely name! A friend of mine has put that name off limits as she wants it for her boy, she had a girl in January and doesn't want any more children but it's still off limits!

Jet Next week sounds great. Looking forward to it! Will check my e-mails, i'm hopeless.

LOM thank you for your freinds e-mail address, must e-mail her as i am giving in to a double buggy now. It must fit into the boot of a clio so that should be fun!

Re- sleep. Coby seems to have a better nights sleep when he's had a long nap (earlier 11.30-1.30ish). I'm also trying to tire him out most days lots of running around and fresh air when possible. Going to try swimming again soon. I've also found when he's eaten well during the day he has a more settled night. So lots of carbs before bed and more veg and fruit during lunch and for breakfast as well as snacks.

Coby still will never be a child that goes to bed a at 7 alas, nearer 8.30 but he does get up between 7.30 and 8 so can't complain. Must make the most of the sleep before the joyful sleep patterns of a newborn.

Had the scan last week and it's another boy! So the girl method did not work for us. Not too surprised as boys run in dp's family he's one of two, so is his dad etc.

I was a little disappointed but got over it an about an hour and am looking forward to my two little lads, plus it will save me a small fortune!

Right off to watch the football!

DP hates football but i've grown up watching Man U with my dad, so secretly really like it. Dp refuses to have it on so i've been banished to the computer room, not that i mind as i get to mumsnet at the same time!

LittleMissBliss · 27/05/2009 19:48

Greedygirl I found that i wasn't enjoying bf as much just before i weaned ds at 13 months it became a chore plus we were TTC. He was a real booby baby but made a transition really smoothly from breast to bottle.

I found the easiest way to do it was to add a little sugar (sounds bad i know) to cows milk in a bottle so that it was a little sweet, as breast milk is sickly sweet and offer that instead of one of his three feeds. During the week i added less sugar until there was none and offered it instead of two and then all three feeds. You may not want to not go down the bottle route as he's edging towards two. I wished I'd given him milk in a beaker to start off with but he seems to get allot of comfort from sucking from a bottle and has never had a dummy, plus he drinks from a beaker/cup during the day. So am happy for him to continue with his bottle until i can bribe him otherwise.....!

Greedygirl · 27/05/2009 20:15

Thanks LMB you have actually given me an idea as he likes one particular sippy cup with a rubber teat - a cross between a bottle and a cup I suppose - I could maybe try that with some sweeter cow's milk and then wean him off the sugar. He has a healthy diet otherwise so I am sure a little bit of sugar for a couple of weeks won't harm him. Did you have to get your DP more involved during the night etc until he was weaned? I have always done the nights.

I gave DD milk with milo (sweet chocolatey drink) in it for a week or so before just giving plain milk when weaning her on to cows milk and it went really smoothly. Same as the sugar really.

LMB Congrats on your DS2 how nice to have 2 brothers . It will be loads cheaper for clothes too.

Greedygirl · 27/05/2009 21:29

Oh yes sorry LMB congrats on boy number 2 too!

Febes - how is it going?

LittleMissBliss · 28/05/2009 08:22

Morning,

Thank you, really struggling on names at the moment.

Greedy, loopy and Febes phew glad the sugar idea didn't go down like a lead balloon!

Glad the sun is out again today, we went and got ds new shorts, t-shirt and sandals on Tuesday and it poured down yesterday...might be able to get some use out of them today.

jetgirl · 28/05/2009 09:12

Morning all!

Greedy - William is still a boobaholic too, in fact he's wanted loads this week as he has a horrible cold and doesn't want much in the way of solid food. He has developed a little sign as a way of asking for it though, which is so cute. He climbs on my lap and shakes his head from side to side just a little, it always makes me smile.

LMB - have emailed you about next week. I bought a side by side buggy when William was born as I found it much easier than the tandems I tried. The only door it wouldn't go through was our narrow front door, but I never found it a bother in shops. It's a combi we2, I got it from twinsuk.co.uk as it was cheaper there than in the shops by a good £60, so it's worth a look for double buggies of any sort.

Febes - glad you're ok and that Anabel loves her little brother, big sisters are so protective.

Loopy - are the mornings improving at all? I really feel for you, DH was away for one night this week, William was up all night coughing and I was on my knees by morning, so i can't imagine how you do it - you're amazing!

Febes · 28/05/2009 10:24

I am coping ok. My mum is here still for another 10 days or so. She has been an amazing help and I'm nervous about her going and me being on my own. Anabel does love Rueben but has been playing up quite a bit and has started a high pitched scream which is rather grating. I do give her lots of attention though and the good thing is she has been having big naps this week up to 4 hours in the day so maybe going through another growth spurt???
Its lovely having another newborn though.

LMB I find boys names really hard too we had Rueben picked out for Anabel if she was a boy as it was the only name we could both agree on. I also like William and Ryan but love girls names and have another few picked out if we have another . Have you had any ideas???

jetgirl · 28/05/2009 13:47

William - brilliant name!
