Hello hello sorry for quick selfish post but quick question to all you humidifier users. Do you leave the window open a bit? I got ours out of the loft as we had an awful night last night with both babies coughing a lot, but I feel like it is going to be a sauna in there and get too hot. I can't remember. I know I cant close window and door or there will be drips down wallpaper etc (did that last time - oops), so have left door open, but worried it is still warm in there. Any advice?

alkar · 01/12/2008 19:24

I have kept the windows and door shut. I've got an ultrasonic one, don't know if that makes any difference?

Egg · 01/12/2008 19:37

I think it must make a big difference. I now have the window fairly WIDE open, and the door is ajar, and the temp in there is 21 degrees and there is no radiator on in there and it is 4 degrees or something outside! The heating in the rest of the house has been off an hour.

It is damp in there!

alkar · 01/12/2008 19:43

Sounds very different. The one I have gives off a coolish vapour, the carpet and windows are full of condensation the next day but I just leave the window open for a bit in the morning and it soon clears up.

strawberrycornetto · 01/12/2008 20:22

Hi Egg. Mine is also ultrasonic. It doesn't have a humidity reader so to speak, but it doesn't seem to make the room at all hot or damp. DS is sleeping 13 hours a night without waking up though

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/12/2008 21:45

hello all, egg sorry i have no clue, xxxx

feeling much better guys, still ache all over and am full of cold and coughing all the time but feel human - hoooray!!!!

have just had a burt of energy and the xmas tree is up!!!!! woo hoo, xxxx

both dc's still snotty etc too but we are getting there, off to bed now with my Martina Cole book- Faces, i even went to the library to borrow it!!!!!!! (very excited about that fact) nite nite everyone,

hope you are all feeling better everyone

CountTo10 · 01/12/2008 21:48

Can't help egg, we haven't got one, sounds of a bit of a nightmare though.

We've got our tree up yeeeeeaaaaaayyyyyyy!!! I was gonna leave it until tonight but got back from my exam (which was ok, just glad its over!!) and decided to do it in the pm. Ds1's face was an absolute picture, he was so chuffed. He didn't know what to look at first. We always have a little display of santas and then other ornaments. Its a tradition in our family that we buy each other little santas or xmas decs each year so I've got quite a collection!!! Love seeing him all that excited! Ds2 was just totally oblivious and all he was interested in was the boxes - shock!! Great big bloody tree in the room and he ignores it, hilarious!!!

Don't think we'll be having any walking here until next year although ds2 does like being on his legs and will pull himself up to the sofa if there's something there he wants. As for teeth, grrrrr still none here and its a nightmare cause I know they want to come out!!

Hope illnesses are getting better x

swottybetty · 02/12/2008 14:14

happy birthday to rozzy's ds1 and hope yesterday went well back at work.

hiya count, that is a PITA that the money is taking a bit of extra time to come thru, and also that it is going to take more to pay off each month. no,i did not have counselling. i rang GA once but they were fairly useless to be honest. i think gambling addiction is quite diffeent to other addictions. i really cannot imagine wanting to gamble ever again, while i fancy a ciggie at least a dozen times a week . so much of gambling is driven by the money side of it that once you;ve had to acknowledge just how much of a loser you are (and believe me,i was convinced i was excellent at online poker, which is how i lost all my money)... anyway, once you see how much it costs you not wins you, it kind of takes the enjoyment out of it! plus i could not do it to DH, who has been very very wonderful about all of this. so no, counselling not needed really. good luck forgiving your dh. i can imagine it wont come easily or quickly. xx

to everyone else.

strawberrycornetto · 02/12/2008 23:25

Hi Nat, hope all is well with you.

I'm just home from work, but tomorrow is my day off . DS is all better thank God, tomorrow I am planning to finalise my Christmas shopping.

What's everyone else up to??

blondiep14 · 03/12/2008 11:54

Hi all, may I join?!
I never knew such a group existed (possibly should have looked!)
I had DS 6th Feb 08, he's my first.
Am now back at work 3 days a week & miss him terribly but I'm improving!

Egg · 03/12/2008 12:48

Hi blondie! Welcome to our gang. A lot of the ladies here have just gone back to work so you are in good company.

Thanks all for info about humidifier. It did calm down a bit and they slept 12 hours each, although DD seemed very unwell when she got up and coughed solidly for 2 hours (took her to docs in end, she passed the tests, am scared of bronchiolitis despite them being past the 9 month mark!). Got DS1 checked too as he has been coughing for about 2 months. Strawb glad your DS has recovered so well.

Missnat how is FIL? Am hoping that if you had any bad news you would have mentioned it so presume he is doing ok?!

We put some tinsel up on Monday as when I dropped DS1 at nursery they had theirs up and he was so excited and shouted "wow" as he ran over to touch it. His little face when he came home and saw ours was so lovely.

Sarah hope you are still getting better each day. Sounds hideous! I do not want flu coming this way [selfish emoticon].

I am really struggling with all three DC being ill at the same time. Thankfully none of them are seriously ill but they are all so bloody miserable most of the time (esp DTs). Yesterday we had 1.5 hrs of solid crying from both of them and nothing seemed to help. I was sat on the floor sobbing as DS1 was upset and grumpy and both DTs were yelling and I couldn't cuddle them both at the same time . We had been up for hours in the night the night before with DS1 coughing (it really was hours...) so I was shattered too which didn't help.

My mum is coming down in a couple of hours to stay the night though, hurrah!

lljkk congrats on DS4 walking! I bet he looks so cute.

Oh that reminds me, BREAKING NEWS, DD managed to crawl forward yesterday. Only very very briefly but she did move! She was actually grinning. Then she put her head down on the floor and closed her eyes as though the effort had exhausted her!

Egg · 03/12/2008 12:51

blondie just looked at your profile pics. Your DS is soooooo gorgeous!

blondiep14 · 03/12/2008 13:18

I'll keep poppng back to see what's happening and hopefully get to know people a bit.
Thanks Egg, i sure think he is !
so you have twins? that must be hard work, esp with another.
I am a twin and often wonder how on earth my poor mum coped!!

Egg · 03/12/2008 13:29

Ooh are you a girl/boy twin or a girl/girl twin? Do you like being a twin?

blondiep14 · 03/12/2008 13:41

girl/girl, but non-identical. I do quite like it, tho i have to say am probably closer to my younger sister!!

missnatalie · 03/12/2008 15:51

Hi Gang!!

egg FIL is well. The op went well and he's out of hospital now. He got out Monday evening. He's still quite ill though. DP is absolutly fuming with the hospital as he feels that FIL is too ill to be out.

Henely has perfected hos walking now. He can walk from the living room, into the kitchen and back. Im so proud of him although he's more hard work now. Hes starting tof hecommunicate better now too. When i ask him if he's done a poo or wants his dinner, he claps his hands as if to say yes. Its so cute.

My sis came down to visit at the weekend with her DP and 2 DSs. I was left babysitting a 3yr old, 10 month old and 9w old. It was a complete nightmare!! They all wanted my attention at the same time, if the baby cried then Henley would cry and then i would cry because i was so stressed. Theres no way that i could handle another one of my own just yet.

Havnt got our tree or decs up yet. Ive bought them and there all sat in the corner ready to be put up. DP wants to wait until the weekend so we can do it together. Were having baby blue and silver this year and my house will look like santas grotto .

I had to stop the juicing diet as i started puking blood . Went to A&E and was checked over. I had a over production of acid in my stomach caused by the acid in the fruit. Have been given some Omeprazol to help the acid. On the plus side i lost 6lb in 5 days . Ive decided to go with the "cutting out the crap" diet from now on. So far ive lost another lb.

Got to run Henley has climbed onto the TV unit xx

gingermumi · 03/12/2008 19:08

No time to catch up but hope all well. Have had problems with bleeding since yesterday, had scan and baby still there and has strong heartbeat. hope he/she stays put! they dont know why i'm bleeding but it's not uncommon i think. have a good evening will try to catch up tomorrow

swottybetty · 03/12/2008 20:20

egg - i was thinking about posting to find out whether dd was the last crawler here . ok, she's not technically crawling, but she's now quite mobile and often on all fours. will let you know if that morphs into proper crawl and i'll slow-race your dd! anyone else joining in?? srry to hear about the sickness and the baby crying and esp your crying . two days til the weeknd.

sarah sorry to hear you are ill. hoping you on the mend, or at least getting looked after.

hello and welcome to blondie!

missnatalie - i only just checked out your pics and omg henly is SO cute. i am mainly hoping i am having a girl, but i wiill be sure to check out your pics should i find out i;m having a boy to cheer me up. glad your FIL is doing ok.

ginger - am glad the bleeding is not a problem. how many weeks are you? every weeks makes you feel better doesnt it? hope bleeding stopped now nonethless.

Hello all

welcome blondie, I am just back to work a few weeks (full time) its shite isn't it.

congrats to egg's dd on crawling! and to henley for his walking - am highly impressed. ds is crawling well now but nowhere near thinking about walking. tbh I am glad he isn'y because I want to keep him as a cuddly baby bot progress to the rampaging toddler stage just yet!!!

at gingermumi bleeding... fingers crossed for you, it must be a bit scary however much anyone says it's a common thing to happen blah blah blah... heartbeat on scan v good sign though I gather.

also at sequelae of juicing diet. methinks that is one I will not be trying in a hurry.

blondiep14 · 03/12/2008 20:49

it is a bit shite isn't it Sally?!
My only 3 days are stupidly long because of hefty commute so feeling knackered. Had hoped being at work would help me lose weight but it's not working like that so far, i'm tired and fed up so just eat!! . Really should stop that!!
can't believe there's a bubba walking already - that's amazing! DS is a nightmare just crawling, i keep telling dp we will need a bigger house once ds starts walking!!

strawberrycornetto · 03/12/2008 21:14

Hello. Welcome Blondie, I am commuting 3 days and working at home for 1 other day, and I am knackered, so I know how you feel. I also miss my little DS terribly

Ginger, hope you are ok and not too worried. My best friend had LOTS of bleeding right through her first trimester. They never found a cause but her DD is now 4 months old and doing fantastically well. I also had one incidence of bleeding with DD and was convinvced it was a m/c, but it turned out to be a completely unrelated cyst.

Egg, DS is crawling but still only commando and in a very ungainly fashion. I'd worry, except DD crawled in exactly the same way. So, I'll add him into the ring for the slowest, although he sounds pretty much like Swotty's DD, he is into EVERYTHING . I have had to liberate him just before he got into the video cabinet, DD's dream house, the dishwasher and the shower so far. He is so much better now, although I have had a bit of a scare tonight because his temp was up a little bit again and he was very clingy at bedtime, with lots of tears and more coughing than since he came home from hospital. Still, I hope its just a little blip. He's finished all his meds this evening, so I guess we'll see.

Egg, hope your DTs are better, but do keep an eye, DS did just keep getting sicker and sicker until he got the right antibiotics and then he got quicker so quickly. It is tough though, I hope you are feeling ok now. I got so worn down by the constant night waking just from DS being sick. I'm glad your mum has come to help you, hurrah for mums, mine has been such a star

blondiep14 · 03/12/2008 21:43

Wow strawberry, that is hardcore, i may end up doing the same but hoping not, tho could really do with the £.

rozzyraspberry · 03/12/2008 21:50

Hi everyone.

Can I add my lo to the list of poorly babies. He has the coughing/cold/sicky virus that ds1 was off school with last week. He doesn't seem too bad in the mornings but is not happy in the afternoons - he was just screaming this afternoon. So far the nights have not been too awful because I've been letting him bf but I'm sure I'll pay for this once he's better again.

He is also not quite crawling although manages to get round - he seems especially attracted to the sky box. Last week I had to run upstairs when ds1 was being sick and I came back down to find ds3 raking through the box of lego - lots of small bits to choke on - what a nightmare.

Hope you're ok ginger - glad you had the scan to reassure you.

Ds1 had a fantastic 6th birthday yesterday - can't believe he's 6!

Swotty - don't be too disappointed if you're having a boy - boys are FAB.

Missnat - what a nightmare on the juicing diet - do you feel ok now?

Hope your lo's are better soon Egg - can't imagine what it must be like with all 3 ill at the same time when they're all so little. Hope you enjoyed your mums visit.

Hi blondie - I'll be joining you, strawberry, sally and others moaning about work next week - feel completely sick thinking about leaving the boys.

Absolutely freezing here at the mo - snow forecast for tomorrow - school handed out leaflets telling us how to find out if the school was closed - I think the teachers are hoping!

gingermumi · 04/12/2008 10:19

Hiya, still bleeding but have been looking it up and it seems that it is quite common so fingers crossed.

Ds is cruising furniture now so will probably be walking just in time to wreck the chrimbo tree! he's been ill too, ear infection this time (according to my mother he's still ill fom the bronchiolitis but im sure ear ache is not a side effect of chest infection! Bless her though i guess his immune system's a bit low though).

Welcome blondie, i went back to work in september, it is indeed big, big pants! I do three days and constantly have to convince myself it's a goog balance blah blah blah... don't beleive it though, wish i could stay at home

Am off to make babna bread while ds asleep, hopefully it will take my mind of things! Yumm yum
