hi everyone, the DC's are getting spottier by the hour but seem well in themselves, dd is slepping alot but that could be as she was up in the night!!!!

DS thinks its funny having spots and wants to do his own cream!!!!!lol

i am off to work shortly but am very tired today, lazy friday for me i hope!!!!lol

how are you all?

dd keeps taking 4 steps and giving up so don't think she wil be long before she really goes for it!!!!!(its been over a week now) She hates the walker, cries everytine i stand her at it, much prefers the settee and one hand!!!!!!lol

strawberrycornetto · 30/01/2009 19:25

Oh no, Sarah! Still, at least you get it over with. Hope work is ok for you. I am home for the weekend now but feeling quite fluey and sorry for myself. DH making fresh pasta for tea though so quite excited.

Had some bad news about a friend who's been really unwell. She has 3 young children. I am really worried for them all and its made me feel really sad. I am so glad to have you guys, it really gives me an outlet to talk about things.

Wow, breastfeeding 8 - can you imagine the horror!

What's everyone up to this weekend??

omy · 30/01/2009 20:23

Hi Sarah - I seem to remember there is a homeopathic remedy for chicken pox that is supposed to help stop the itching - you could google it - it may be rhus tox - the itching phase is the worst.

Strawb - sorry about your friend and the sad news. It makes you stop in your tracks and realise how lucky we all are.

Weekend - well gotta go plan some lessons as I am teaching tomorrow morning, then it's off to the shops with DD1 to buy her a pressie for her 17th birthday on Sunday!!! She is at a friend's house right now having a 'cocktail party' to which they have invited 60 people!! OMG - hope it goes smoothly! Then a family Sunday lunch for 17 yr old - though she will be a wreck by then as she has a party Saturday night as well - she is not usually allowed 2 nights out in a weekend - but got away with it this weekend as it is her birthday. Hey all - do you remember what you were doing when you were 17???? eeek so do I!

thequietone · 30/01/2009 20:33

god I never have the time to post on this. Just wanted to say that ds1 had chickenpox and the homeoathic remedy here in Germany was Rhys toxic (or a similar spelling). I was a sceptic until the Dr here prescribed this and ds1 only has 3 scars...all of which were ones he scratched before starring the homeo meds.

strawberrycornetto · 30/01/2009 20:37

Excellent tip for the homeopathic remedy. I will store that away for when DS no doubt succumbs....

Omy, can you believe your DD is 17?! My 17th, my parents bought me driving lessons and the instructor didn't turn up!!!!

I have a girls night out in London tomorrow. Am already stressing about what to wear so as not to look like a frumpy mum! Any suggestions gratefully received, there is a possibility of shopping tomorrow......

omy · 30/01/2009 20:41

Strawb - elegant is the way to go - I am sure you will look gorgeous - confidence is the most important thing!

strawberrycornetto · 30/01/2009 22:14

Agree with confidence, I aspire to elegant!!! Will hunt in my wardrobe for something that might be elegant. Something black?!

alkar · 30/01/2009 22:18

Its daniels birthday tomorrow - so excited

Got some family coming tomorrow but I have a feeling SIL is on the phone to DH now trying to get out of coming up here. I know she lives in the country but its only wigan ffs!

leesmum · 31/01/2009 08:25

Strawberry i am also out tonight and am very excited about it, i'm wearing some new navy jeans and a red top with ruffles on the front, i have already painted my finger and toe nails with red hot varnish as well!! I'm going out with my sis and two other girls i've known since i was 5 and we always have a good laugh together. Where are you off to and have you sorted out what you're wearing yet? Have fun xxx

Sarah how are your two doing? Just as ds2 has got over the pox now ds1 has it!! and he's chuffed to bits he only has two blisters for now and does'nt seem unwell, so hopefully he wont be too bad.

Big hugs and kisses for Daniel on his 1st birthday, enjoy it Alkar xxx

Omy i went to Salou with my twin for our 17th and we had a fab time and stayed on a camp site, my parents were worried sick but it was our first holiday away from them...we met some very nice boys from Scotland lol. I hope she has a great time on her birthday xx

Hi thequietone lovely to hear from you hun xx

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 31/01/2009 09:18

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPYBIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO daniel HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU XXXXX
hope you have a fab day ALKAR-

MY two are ok, we have about 80 spots between them but generally ok in them selves,

quiet weekend here i think!!!! i am hoping DD does not get too many on her face as her birthday photos next week will be awful!!!!Lol

strawberrycornetto · 31/01/2009 16:15

Happy birthday Daniel, hope you are having a great day Alkar

Leesmum, I went shopping but found nothing worth buying. I've got an old silk printed top from ted baker so I am wearing that with my slightly too small favourite jeans. Hope its ok, couldn't really be bothered to get stressed about it. I'm going out with a group of about 7 girlfriends for one of our birthdays. They are all friends I've known since school so it will be great to catch up. Its karaoke (sp?) first though and I have a bad chest and can't sing so not sure about that bit . Off to get ready in a minute cause its an early start. Hope you enjoy your night, am impressed you were organised enough to do your nails!

Sarah, glad things seem ok, hope your DD does avoid getting too many on her face. My DD had chicken pox just after 1 and she really didn't get any scars so hopefully your DD will be the same.

Gill79 · 31/01/2009 16:58

Have a nice night ladies! Leesmum - may be too late but I would try and go for something classic (like some nicely cut black trousers) with a youthful trendy twist like some layers showing or scarf/ jewellery. Hmmm makes me want to go shopping. I'm wearing tracksuit, fleece and odd socks.

Had a lovely day yesterday with some local mums - we took the DCs swimming, had a pub lunch (standing outside the pub before midday with our buggies waiting for it to open ) went to the drop-in group and then Malc had another session at nursery.

Hope the pox not too bad for yours Sarah....

alkar · 31/01/2009 17:07

Sounds good leesmum - like the nail varish touch

All good here, think Daniel has had a nice day. Had loads of people calling round. Bit annoyed that pil couldn't stay another 2 minutes while we sang happy birthday they were seriously leaving as I lit the candle . All my family think they're weird anyway!!!!

I can't believe my little boy is now one. This time last year I was perfectly chilled out (epidural working nicely) and thinking I would have him the next day until it all kicked off at 8pm and I ended up with an emergency section

alkar · 31/01/2009 17:10

Hope you both have a good night strawberry and leesmum. I will be in bed at 9 - I was up making Daniels climbing frame til midnight last night!

rozzyraspberry · 31/01/2009 19:13

Glad Daniel has had a nice birthday Alkar.

Hope you both have great nights out Leesmum and Strawberry! I am in on my own as dh is on a night shift but I'm making my way through Prison Break which I didn't watch when it was on originally - I've watched the whole of the first series over the last couple of weeks and started on season 2 last night - it's fantastic (and Michael Schofield is quite sexy!).

I'm quite jealous of you Leesmum and Sarah getting chickenpox over for all your dc at once. My ds3 only got about 5 spots so apparently there's a good chance he'll get them again and ds1 strangely didn't get them at all. Does it cause either of you childcare problems when they can't go to nursery?

How's Malcolm getting on at nursery now Gill?

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!!

gingermumi · 01/02/2009 20:49

Not sure about new layout! Hope everyone having a good weekend, it's snowing here so am praying it'll be too bad to go to work tomorrow! That wouls be soooo cool! Hope all c-pox babies ok, with dds i just used calamine lotion and cool baths. With ds's health record we'll probably be next. Am off to order food shop!

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 01/02/2009 20:52

Helo everyone,

haven't posted on here for so long that the website is all different...

Can't catch up completely but gather lots of LOs are walking or nearly walking - am impressed! DS is cruising happily atm. He still has just the one tooth, bless him. Also interested to hear everyones real names. Unfort was rather uncreative with my choice of screen name so you all know what my name is anyway!

Am planning DS's first birthday party. Even with just family we will have 12 of us + LO - we've never managed to fit 12 into our little house before! A major tidy-up is called for. At the moment you can't move for toys. DS far too spoiled

Any party food ideas? Was gonna do mini pizzas, sausage rolls, sandwiches and other savoury type things as well as biscuits and crisps in order to stop the LOs going too crazy on sugar. No jelly and ice-cream here... For birthday cake we are having a jam sponge with 1 candle. V ecxited about this as you can probably tell.

OK off to bed now - LO woke up at 4am last night and would not go back to sleep for about an hour - am shattered!

omy · 01/02/2009 22:02

Hi Sally! Grapes are good party food (seedless) - and clementines - pitta or breadsticks and humuos, marmite sandwiches - I sound so virtuous (!) but LO had her first piece of chocolate cake today - some of her sister's birthday cake! She seemed to like it - though she was rather miserable today as a big top tooth is coming through. She woke up last night too which is very unusual and would only be consoled today with boob - poor little thing.

Hey Sarah - how are the LOs coping with the chicken pox? have you tried rhus tox yet? you can buy it in the chemist.

How did the evenings out go? You should have seen the dressing up going on here last night with 4 17 year olds off to a dress up party! hilarious.

Alkar - your PILs sound very weird. What did you get Daniel for his birthday? I am getting Leila crayons and bath toys - I am feeling very guilty that I havent given her the chance to draw yet - and her bath toys consist of a wooden spoon and a plastic bowl! - she like the taps best though!

omy · 01/02/2009 22:04

Gill - your day out sounds so civilised - ahhh - I will vicariously enjoy it too......round here the only day out Leila gets is a trip to Morrisons!

omy · 02/02/2009 10:01

Heeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy snooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww

I guess that's why no-one is on here - you're all out in the snow! Yipppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

gingermumi · 02/02/2009 12:43

Snow here 2 but not enough (at mo) to stop work! Am going to go and get ds some wellies in a mo, collect him from nursery and play in the snow- have to go back to work later to teach evening class so am hoping it gets worse! Quite white here, how's winchester Egg? one of our lecturers hasn't come in because he's snowed in over your way.

Have a lovely (snowy) day everyone!

leesmum · 02/02/2009 12:47

Hi all on a lovely snowy day!!

had a brill time on sat night, it was great to catch up with the girls, i didnt get to bed till 2.30am but wasn't really hungover just shattered cos i'm normally in bed for 10pm.

Strawberry how did your night go?

Sarah how are your two coping with the pox? MY ds1 is now covered in them and his temp keeps shooting up, so am wary of letting him go out in the snow.

Is everyone else still giving their lo's a bottle or boob at bedtime? James has 9 oz at night but every other morning he keeps waking up soaking wet through, i have made sure widge is pointed down and nappy on properly but this morning even his sleeping bag was wet, i'm wondering if i should start giving him some supper, a bit of toast or something and then maybe just 4oz's of milk, anyone else having this problem, i dont want to drop his bedtime bottle just yet cos he enjoys it so much and still needs the milk.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 02/02/2009 14:03

hello- i am fed up and tired!!!!!! the chicken pox are really giving the dc's some trouble, Harry has them all over his tongue, he cannot eat and its sore to drink,

DD has them on her eye lids poor little things,

i am shattered dont think i got much sleep last night dd was so unsettled, wil be glad when its all over, !!!!

grandparents bought a sledge for ds on sat and he is not interested at all in the snow, has slept on sofa most of the day and like leesmums - ds temp is high!!!!!thank god for nurofen, and piriton!!!!

will upload some spotty pics,

sorry for my moany post but am fed up !!!!

strawberrycornetto · 02/02/2009 16:42

Hi Sarah, poor you and DCs, hope they are on the mend soon. at spots on eyelids!

We have masses of snow here. Nursery shut today and tomorrow, the snow is too deep even for DD to play in and we have no tv because the sky dish is covered in snow. DH went to Antigua this morning and has left me to cope. I was supposed to work at home today but its been impossible. I've had to take tomorrow off as holiday which is really annoying. I am scroodge as far as snow goes, its always such a pain!

Leesmum, glad you enjoyed your night out. I had a really good time too, the karaoke was a really good laugh. I also got to bed about 2.30 and felt shattered yesterday, not too hung over but completely knackered! It was worth it though!

alkar · 02/02/2009 17:31

Yes omy PILs very weird - esp MIL. We got DS an igglepiggle and some washable pen things, he's already drawn us 2 pictures . With the money people gave us we bought a little tikes climbing frame which i now in the garden covered in snow!

Your poor LOs sarah, I'd forgotten how bad chicken pox can be.
