Just posted on your thread in chat, Clairey. How annoying!!

I'm sure the rest of the gang are busy with last minute Christmassy things.. I'm just being lazy.

BTW having a bit of a problem with DS - he keeps hitting me around the face and pulling my hair - it is getting seriously annoying. I've tried telling him no and pushing his hand away and then putting him down off my lap, but I don't seem to be able to get through to him! He just thinks it is funny
I even blush tapped the back of hand when he clawed my cheek - but no that was funny too

mellymincepies · 23/12/2008 19:55

Hey Everyone,

Sorry not been about much lately, been rushing around sorting xmas stuff out.
Merry Christmas to you all, enjoy.
I'll probably not be abel to get on here now until after the op on the 6th so wish me well, let's hope it works.

Festive Hugs and extra kisses to all the LO's!!

Just popped on to say Happy Christmas everyone,

I haven't been on for ages, just so little time to use the internet now as the laptop has been on the blink.

It's DS's 1st Birthday today and the poor soul has been ill since midnight, he's been poorly for the last 3 months with colds/coughs (all started with a cough then scarletina, then a cold, then eye infection, then cough and now a throat infection). He's on more antibiotics now and he is looking quite poorly and quite skinny as not been eating properly for such a long time. I am very emotional tonight, I hope the wee man is ok.

I've had a quick scan up the thread, sounds like everyone is doing great.
Hope the ADs are helping you to feel better Bouncing.
Hows the nursery going Incy? are you still using the P&T? I cant recline the bottom seat now as DS's head wont fit under the bar any more

Suey are you visiting your parents this festive time? No snow yet, hope we escape it this year.

On the ageing subject yes I feel like I have aged 2 yrs for ever 1 actual year since I had children, my skin is very lined and my hair is a mess but I am a bit fitter for trying to lose weight and doing gym work so now a stone to lose (was 3 at the beginning!).

Anna and Caz sorry I havent been in touch, just so busy with one thing or anyother but hopefully we can arrange another coffee in the New Year sometime?

Off now to bed, DS would only sleep on me last night so I go literally no sleep until he konked out at 5.30am but I wont sleep much as he's had a temp of 38.2 all day.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas

Loucee
xx

BouncingTinsel · 24/12/2008 06:48

Awww poor ds Loucee It's awful when they are ill isn't it.
I hope he still manages to have a nice birthday today.
And congrats on the weight loss!! I need to lose about 3.5 stone! Going to start in the new year.

DS also had a temp last night of 100.4, he is still asleep atm which is very unusual for him, hope the little fellow is ok. He did stir 15mins ago but went back to sleep.

BouncingTinsel · 24/12/2008 07:18

DS is a bit better this morning - temp was down to 98.6. Gave him some more calpol though.

skidaddle · 24/12/2008 11:10

oh dear BT and loucee - your poor DSs. Hope they both feel betetr soon

BT - DS also hits me when he is feeding - he basically sticks his srms right out and then whacks it straight into my face repeatedly! it doesn;t actually hurt so I don;t usually do anything. He has also started biting and everytime he does that I say NO in as serious a voice I can muster and if he does it again i say No again and put him down (he usually cries when I do this). From DD I kow that although there is no improvement now, eventually he will (I hope) get the message so I would just keep telling him no and hopefully he will stop soon.

melly - best of luck with your operation

and a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all - a very different one it will be from last year! Have a lovely day everyone [fhappy]

ArchangelGabrieldie · 24/12/2008 21:37

Seasons greetings and a very very happy Christmas to one and all. As you say - a VERy different one to last year. It must be said there are only about 2 hours of last year's Christmas that I remember - one of which being taking Imogen to church in a full Santa outfit and letting her meet her Aunt and cousins for the first time looking like a very small wizened Father Christmas. Apart from that it's pretty much a blur. 2 weeks old and not a lot of sleep happening!

ArchangelGabrieldie · 24/12/2008 21:41

BT How rotten that he's poorly. Hope you guys catch a break in 2009 - seems like the latter parts of 2008 haven't been "turtley awesome". We're down in Kent at my parents house and the rest of the family are playing a 6 player game. tehre are of course 7 of us present - so I've been given an excuse to surf the net for bridesmaid dresses for a year and a bit's time..... By which point I might have lost some baby weight!!!

Wonder who'll escape the turkey debacle and post tomorrow. My bet is that BT and skid are hardened enough MNers that they'll make it on!!

BouncingTinsel · 24/12/2008 21:50

Arcadie - you know me so well

And rofl @ turtley awesome!

BouncingTinsel · 25/12/2008 08:34

So not as to disappoint Arcadie.

Happy Christmas!

Joyeaux Noel

Feliz navidad!

ArchangelGabrieldie · 25/12/2008 21:53

Glucklich Weihnachten

Have a lovely day people - hope your los thought more of present opening than mine!!! DS handed out all the presents to people (about 300 of them) each time with the question "What's in it?" DD got over hot in her gps stifling hotter than we have it house and sniggled lots. but both are now sleeping. And tomorrow will have a lot of new DVDs to watch. Top quality parenting....

Caz10 · 25/12/2008 22:17

Merry Christmas one and all!

(and WHY do grandparents have such hot houses? dd cried through her Xmas dinner until we stripped her off and she sat smiling and chomping food in her little vest!)

Hope everyone has had a lovely lovely day x

SAmbiClaus · 25/12/2008 22:35

Happy Xmas everyone.

I hope you are all having a lovely day, ours has been fab even with the lack of fancy Xmas dinner, couldn't be arsed. Though I've consumed too much wine and chocolate I haven't been on for ages, I hope your lo's have had or due to have nice birthdays.

I'm hoping to catch up with you over the next quiet few days so I'm not too out of the loop. Nothing really exciting here, work sucks atm. I bet we've got some very advanced little babies on this thread, dd is now bum shuffling like crazy and is getting quite fast. She's 2 teeth and the top ones look close to coming through. She babbles still with no discernable words.

Must go, this wine isn't going to drink itself.

BouncingTinsel · 26/12/2008 20:04

Been to inlaws - been a bit fraught this afternoon, there was a bit of a trauma can't really go into details as I think one of the people involved might be a MNer, think it is all sorted now though!

Ds and DSS and my neices all got thoroughly spoilt with lots of pressies! DS got lots of presents yesterday as well from DH and I.

buzzybee · 27/12/2008 02:13

Hi all!!

Our Christmas was a bit quieter than expected as we received news on Xmas eve that my step-father's mother had died that morning. She had just turned 103 (he's 77) so it had been on the cards but the timing was awful. In fact she had been very well until last Saturday - seemed like she was going to go on for ever! Anyway as my step-dad lives here in New Zealand and she lived in Redhill Surrey he spent Xmas day organising travel plans and left last night.

Luckily of course Beatrix was completely oblivious and enjoyed receiving her presents, expecially swinging in her new swing. Favourite foods on the day were asparagus and strawberries (luckily she seems to have grown out of the hives reaction to strawbs)

We're off to the beach tomorrow for 5 days should be lovely

skidaddle · 27/12/2008 12:47

hi everyone

buzzy - so sorry to hear about your stepdad's mum, what awful timing - that is an amazing age to have got to though

BT - sorry to hear about your family traumas too - there is always something like that at Xmas, isn't there? Glad it is sorted now though.

Arcadie - ah I am flattered that you think I am so dedicated as to post on Xmas day! But also ashamed that I did not meet your expectations!!

We had a lovely Xmas - just the four of us. DH managed to keep his scrooge tendencies just about under control and DD just loved it. We made pretend santa footprints coming into the house and left a bite out of a mince pie and carrot for Rudolf etc. OMG her little face when she saw it - it must be so amazing to believe in Santa Claus...

And my good news is that i finished the final chapterof my thesis yesterday - woooo hooo - still a bit of tidying up to do but I think I should get it finished before we move to oxford. Such a huge relief as it seemed neverending.

I want you all to show me a bit of respect and call me by my full title (Dr. Skidaddle) when the time comes

BouncingTinsel · 27/12/2008 13:16

Well done Skid! Hope you celebrated with a glass of your favourite tipple!

Buzzy for your stepdad, 103 is an impressive age but it doesn't mean he'll miss her any less.

claraquistmas · 28/12/2008 17:38

Happy Christmas everyone, sorry it's a bit late. We haven't had internet access for a few days as it relies on nicking the wireless from our neighbours and their modem was down for a while....how inconsiderate of them!

We had a lovely day. Just the four of us until about 4pm when almost my entire family turned up, which was chaos but was ok as we had had the rest of the day on our own. I second whoever it was who said they couldn't remember much from last year - I was trying to recall what we ate for Christmas dinner but haven't a clue!

Skid - you know how our dh's are basically the same person? Well mine has scrooge tendancies too (he basically hates Christmas) but managed to keep it under control enough for us to enjoy the day. We also put out a carrot and mince pie (and a beer) for Santa and his reindeer. It's lovely that the older children can really finally get into Christmas isn't it? Although next year could be a nightmare as she'll probably start to get excited sometime in mid-September!

Sorry to all of those who have been ill or whose dc's are ill. I am still under the weather - I have never been this ill for this long in my life. Must be age....

If I don't get on again before Wednesday, Happy New Year everyone! I know Insy will be having another baby and Skid moving to Oxford but does anyone else have any major plans for 2009?

BouncingTinsel · 28/12/2008 19:02

I will be TTCing in the summer!

Daniel took 6 unaided steps today [proud mummy emoticon]

fifisboys · 28/12/2008 20:13

I hope you all had a lovely xmas!!1

BT Well done to Daniel..i think Ethan is still a long way off walking!!!!

Clara at how you get your internet...and it was very inconsiderate of your neighbours modem to be down..do they not realise you need to mn????

Insy Well done for winning all those toys

DRSkid well done..i bet thats a load off your mind.

My major plans for 2009...well we are taking the ds's to eurodisney in Feb. There was also something else quite minor...oh yeah im getting married!!!!!

suey2 · 29/12/2008 08:20

hello all.
Hope you have all had a fan time
We are on the beach which is just lovely
Will try and catch up

skidaddle · 29/12/2008 11:08

well done to Daniel !!

Clara - sorry you're still ill - sounds awful. Glad you had a nice Xmas though - it is a struggle when your DH is a grumpy old scrooge, isn't it? I think even my miserable DH's cockles were slightly warmed by my DD's utter joy and squeals of delight that santa had left her all things she really wanted though!

thanks for the congrats - a bit premature as here i am at my desk still working but am still feeling very proud of myself

on the beach suey - where on earth are you???

suey2 · 29/12/2008 12:11

hey skid,
Congratson finishing the thesis.
We are in Vietnam and off to Cambodia for newyear.
Bt how are you feeling? I have just started weaning off the ads
Sorry to hear about the sicknesses: dd is better now and back on normal formula.

BouncingTinsel · 29/12/2008 12:44

Suey - glad you are enjoying your Xmas, sounds wonderful
I'm doing ok I think, I forgot to take my ad's on Saturday night, I think so that might explain why I was so grumpy yesterday! Going to see my GP on Monday next week!

Claraq - poor you! Hope you get well soon...

becklespeckle · 29/12/2008 14:12

Hiya all, hope everyone had a good Christmas with their LOs! Build up to it was really manic here but the day itself was nice and relaxed. Evie was not overly interested in presents but quite liked them once they had been opened for her! I bought her a ragdoll which she seems to like, she pushed it round for most of the day in the buggy SIL got for her!

As for 2009, no major plans - just hoping we will all be well and that DH will find some work very soon
