Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cazzybabs · 19/11/2008 22:14

helloooo..

Caz10- how are your lovely year 6s? Have you started Christmas things yet...we are about to start rehearing for our key stage 1 Xmas play.

I have just put Evie to bed...she has such a bad cough ATM and is really chesty especially in the mornings and evenings.

I am supposed to be going to bed (dh is away) but I have lost the toothpaste and am debating wether to use the dds?

BouncingTurtle · 20/11/2008 06:17

I feel like the walking dead right now...

Wizzska · 20/11/2008 11:30

Oh Bouncing, sorry you're feeling so rough.

DH and I are both knackered, but because I'm having a few days off we had a relay of extra sleep this morning. DS woke just before 6 so we tried to get him to sleep in our bed, in the end DH got up with him and I had an extra hour and a half. Then we swapped over. DS is now having a long morning snooze too.

DS had his first proper tantrum this morning. He was tired but couldn't sleep when I put him down so I got him out to play some more. He was trying to reach something but couldn't so he sat on the floor, stiff arms by his side and kicked his little legs. It really made me laugh. He never normally gets cross. I thought 2 was the age for tantrums, not 1.

~Hopefully today will be ok, I want to go shopping but am loath to take DS far from home in case he's ill again.

Caz, thanks for the new thread.

insywinsyspider · 20/11/2008 15:07

sorry to hear so many of you are suffering at the moment even though that doesn't help at all when you are going thro it.

louise - neither of mine have had chicken pox yet, I keep taking them round to toddlers who have it but so far nothing - I just know they'll get it in quick succession when I'm back at work hope they're all on mend soon

and on age thing - someone said let me guess your age the other day and (before I could stop them) guessed 36... I'm 28 having kids has really aged me!

I've got my first scan this afternoon! really nervous but hoping bean is doing ok...

claireyBANG · 20/11/2008 15:12

Bad night BT?

Wizz I hope the milk thing helps your ds too, it did make a huge difference to dd. DS has had quite a few tantrums, I think he learnt them from his sister! I took him off the stairs yesterday and he screamed, hit me then flung himself back onto the floor.

Cazzy did you find the toothpaste or had your dh taken it with him?! Mine did that once.

Caz good title!

Insy hope the scan shows all to be ok (and hope it isn't more than one or you'll have 4 under the age of three hahaha!)

Arcadie · 20/11/2008 19:53

Nice one Caz - fab title. Cannot bleeeeeeve they're nearly one. Out of interest - someone posted a big list of people on the thread with all the births from the antenatal group on it. Is it poss to redo and add us latecomers on? DD is Imogen born on 11/12. (Due on 27/11 and even a year on I'm still slightly abouthow late she was....)

BT - so sorry you're feeling so rough. Go to bed. Do not read MN. Do not watch crap Thursday TV. Just snuggle into a big warm bed and catch up. My plan is to do similarly just as soon as I've eaten, marked books and got off MN!!

Insy POST ABOUT THE SCAN WOMAN!!!!! ahem. I mean - hope it was all good.

cazzybabs · 20/11/2008 19:59

yes did I find the toothpastre ...the cat was siting on it (don't ask)

arcade - my dd was the same amount of lateness

BouncingTurtle · 20/11/2008 20:27

Insy - yes hope the scan went well

Arcadie - sorry I dragged myself into work. Hideous night with ds, unsettled all night. He seems better tonight though, and we have the humidifier. I'm hoping that will help with his cough and stuffy nose!

Wizz - ds has had a few tantrums, mainly when we've took something off him that he shouldn't have!! He just gets very cross and cries. And woebetide mummy if she offers him his dummy instead of booby because he gets violent [ahock]

Been horribly stressed atm, work sucks, been some awful traffic going to work and coming back from nursery that is making me hate driving atm.

happily though dh has managed to cheer me up for getting a Wii Fit!!!!! He bagged the last one in the shop too!

mellymooks · 21/11/2008 08:07

Hello great new name for the thread!
Yes K has strops when I remove items she's not meant to have, or when I deny her access to cupboards etc!! She's not content with the tupperware and saucepan cupboards she wants the mysterious OTHER cupboards!!!
Well CC has gone really well so far we're on the 4th night (I can't take any credit though as my man has done it all as I'm just a crumbly biscuit when it comes to her crying even for 10 seconds!!)
1st night- woke four times, longest time it took to get her back down 1 hour.
2nd night - woke once, back down in 15 mins.
3rd night - woke four times, back down within 40 mins.
4th night - stirred twice but had gone back to sleep before my man could get to her.

Can't believe it, thought it would be way more dramatic and traumatic. I can't believe how good I feel for 4 nights sleep for the first time in 8 months!! And she seems happy and fine, so my guilt that I maybe damaging her is fading......

Insy - hope scan went well.

BT - am very at your wii fit!!

BouncingTurtle · 21/11/2008 08:39

Melly - glad it's going well. My personal opinion is it very much depends on the baby whether CC will work, and whether the baby is ready to sleep through - clearly Kaesha is! Sadly Daniel isn't yet but I think he is getting there. Well done your DH, I hope you are going to reward him with a big lie in on Saturday
We had a better night last night he slept through from 7:30 to 00:30. We got the humidifier last night, and that has helped with his cough I think. Unfortunately his nappy leaked! So he had to have a complete change of nappy, clothing and sleeping bag at 4am! All the inserts seemed quite wet, so I'm thinking that may be I should have put another booster in it.

mellymooks · 21/11/2008 09:23

I think you're right BT, cause we sort of half heartedly tried it a couple of months ago and she just didn't seem to to "get it" whereas now she is responding to it and going off to sleep with (relatively) little fuss.
Yes I'll be giving my man a BIG lie in, I don't know how he does it as he has a big commute each day as well, but he's always been able to function on bugger all sleep, unlike myself who is hell to live with if I don't get my zzzzzz's

Sounds like Daniel is getting there that's a good stretch of time, before this week K was waking anywhere from an hour and a half to 3 hrs after first putting her down and then more times than I can count through the night. I think that's why I'm in shock the transistion has happened so fast, and that she doesn't need boob in the night!! Of course my boobs are also in shock and are fit to bursting by morning and I'm leaking everywhere!!!

Feel for you on complete change in middle of night, it's horrible when it's dark and chilly and you just wanna be under the duvet.

skidaddle · 21/11/2008 09:55

sympathies to all the ill babies - sounds horrid. My two also ahve a D&V bug (well, DD is vomiting and DS has the D) but they are not too bad with it..

Melly - wow that is a result with the CC. my DS only wakes once a ight usually so it's not too bad but otherwise I would be a bit tempted although like you my DH would have to do it as I can't bear to hear him crying.

Insy - good luck today, fingers crossed for you and please let us know how you got on
Can't believe someone thought you were 36!!! Maybe it's time to go on '10 years younger' or whatever it's called - I think I have seen a pic of you on facebook and you definitely don't look 36!

BTW am I right in thinking that is the BF babies who wake up a lot in the night (me, BT, clairey, melly until recently)? I wonder if this is usually the case (I know BF babies wake up to feed more initially).

Speaking of BF I am really ready to stop soon. Milo has bitten me so much my nipple is raw and hurts all the time - I have even been wearing breast shells at home like I did when he was a newborn... roll on 12 months!

claireyBANG · 21/11/2008 10:03

BT and Melly, I think you definitely get a feeling for when it will work or not... Glad it is going well so far Melly and hope your boobs settle down soon.

DD is being sick today

DS is walking more than he is crawling now, is so funny to see him toddling around with his arms up for balance. This morning he has been teasing me by going for the things he knows he isn't allowed to touch (the computer, tv, fireplace, my cup of tea etc)and laughing when I tell him not to touch them.

Arcadie the list I posted before had loads of people missing from it so I'll try to find a better one that we can add you to. Or we could just make a new one for those of us that are still here-there was a half hearted attempt on the last thread but only about 3 of us added ourselves!

claireyBANG · 21/11/2008 10:08

Ouch Skid sounds painful.

I went to baby clinic this week and saw a new hv, she was quite sensible about the sleep thing just said quite often bf babies don't until much later and that the best time to stop night feeds is when you stop bf (eg don't then give a bottle/cup in the night instead even if they seem really hungry) but not to worry unless you can't function properly due to lack of sleep. Quite different to the usual do cc at 6 weeks attitude that most of the hv's in this area seem to have!

skidaddle · 21/11/2008 12:39

Oh that is good to hear clairey - that was my kind-of plan - to stop nightfeeds when I stop BF... although feel very apprehensive at the thought of having to settle him with no boob available! Also will be a shame not to have BM on tap when he is poorly/tired but won't sleep etc.. as you can see I am completely ambivalent about the whole stopping BF thing!

That is so sweet about Douggie - Milo has also been having great fun doing whatever I tell him not to. Can't help but laugh when he does it although I know I should probably have a big stern face on so he knows I mean business!

insywinsyspider · 21/11/2008 21:57

hello! scan was great - am offically 10 wks pg and decided to tell everyone as I guess pg can go wrong at anytime so its as 'safe' as it can be
and yes only ONE strong heart beat

skid - lol about 10 yrs younger.. and thats just after 2 kids!

Toby is doing great at the moment and is back eating loads, got another tooth pushing through - its a never ending treadmill - so thats upsetting him so he's capol'd up to the eye balls again

ds1 is more of a problem, all his 'friends' have gone to pre school so he's knocking around toddler groups with little ones and I think is bored but it means he's really testing me and its exhausting, he still goes to childminder twice a week but I'm worried that he's with little ones there too and I'm not seeing any improvement in his behaviour on days he goes there, he just has so much energy and is wild. thinking of putting him in nursery one day a week and 2 with cm rather than 3 with her, would 1 day be too confusing for him? really not sure what to do, find ds1 the hardest as I have no idea what to expect next but with ds2 I have at least some previous experience to draw on!

melly - great progress with CC, we've done it recently with Toby with good result too, he's now sleeping through, I'm planning to move both boys into same room in new year so I hope it continues

claireybee · 22/11/2008 10:07

Yay Insy! And official congratulations!

cazzybabs · 22/11/2008 15:50

I took evie swimming for the 1st time today..I was so scared. We had a lesson...she was OK but took about 5 mintues to get used to it all. She is a little backward because there were babies youner than her swimming underwter

BouncingTurtle · 22/11/2008 16:53

Insy - great news on the scan!!

Cazzy - glad Evie enjoyed swimming!

Another awful night, Daniel woke up at 11pm and wouldn't settle, tried putting him bed with us but he just wanted to feed and pull off, feed and pull off.
Took him back to his room and fed him again, was so painful though as it seemed like he is grabbing my nipples with his teeth, he bit me hard as well and I started crying because I was so tired and fed up, DH had to take DS and try and settle him, he wouldn't settle, so gave him some calpol as again we think it's his teeth - again the Nelson's teetha failed to do anything, don't know why we bother with it!
He did settle after that! Woke up once for a feed, then woke up at 5am, but put him into bed with us and he slept to about 7:15.
Aggghhhh!!!! Just cut the darn tooth already!

Caz10 · 23/11/2008 15:37

Hi all!
Just wanted to get this back on my threads list so I can keep up to date

much the same here as everyone else by the sounds of it - teeth, colds, no sleep...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

(oh, and another bf-er/non-sleeper here - it can't be a coincidence?!)

Congrats Insy!!!

Arcadie · 23/11/2008 22:53

Hi People

Was going to do my Mammoth post tonight as DH has been out being PA geek at a youth service but he's arrived back sneakily early so I may not get chance for a huge one.

News from Arcadie camp is: Trying to get DD to take a step or two has proved entirely unsuccessful. But she seems closer than DS was at the same age. Also trying to get head round organising her dedication (a lot like a Christening but no water). Made SUCH a song and dance about DS's 2 years ago and feel bad that DD's will be a very much pared down affair but simply cannot be bothered with the faff that DS's was. Poor DD. 2nd child syndrome again....

More teeth on their way so early morning wakings ( 5 / 6 / 6:30 /one respite of 7!!!) but since that's all we hear from her overnight I'm not going to complain much on this discussion board!!!

Wizz Glad at least one other DC still prefers crawling. Sorry about the vomit everywhere and hope everyone better now. The longest nights of your life are the one's with a poorly baby . And DD tantrums EVERYDAY. Mostly over food. "I will not eat from a spoon. I will only fingerfeed." grrrrr. Proper screamthon every mealtime.

BT Hope humidifer works. We're thinking of a dehumidifer so that we don't wake to streaming windows every morning!! With all the hassle of work, DS being a toothfiend and poorliness I'm very proud of you that you keep posting such upbeat messages of support for us all. In a truly American way "you go gurrrl".

Insy Woooohooooo BABY BABY BABY!!! Glad we don't have to be quiet about him/her anymore! Keep us posted. We'll reminisce about the good old days when they were on the inside with you! And was it you who posted about nursery? Go for it. DD starting to enjoy nursery. DS has LOVED it for nearly 2 years now! He doesn't have many chums of his own school year (a few older, a lot younger) and it's a great place for him to interact with kids who aren't frustrated by how little he can do and who he's not frustrated by either.

Skid DD laughs like a drain whenever I say no to her. Weirdly I have no probs disciplining DS but I really find it hard to tell DD off. Boy girl? 3yr old versus 1 yr old? Dunno.

Clairey When you get a spare half hour the list'd be great. If I knew how to do it I would take the job off your hands... Still mighty on the walking!

Cazzybabs Someone who understands the misery of a seriously overdue baby.... Bless you. Were you induced in the end? It's the ONLY thing that would make me consider LO3 would be the opportunity to go into labour naturally....

Melly Nice one on the CC. Brave strong lady. Hats off.

Louise Guess you've not been on for a while cos you're up to your eyes in Calamine. My thoughts are with you. DS has had (aged 5 months) DD still not. Do I try to get it over with for her??

OK. DH in bed getting increasingly annoyed that I'm not. so will bid you goodnight.

BouncingTurtle · 24/11/2008 06:58

Arcadie - very impressive post

Better night last night, hope it'll continue to improve.

Oh I'm convinced my company is going down the toilet. So hoping for redundancy sometime in the next couple of years...

Arcadie · 24/11/2008 07:17

BT Very glad your night better. Today , the day that I have to be up at 6:30 to get ready for school anyway both DC are sleeping still. As is DH. Good for them!

skidaddle · 24/11/2008 11:03

Hi everyone

Congrats insy!!!! Enjoy telling everyone!

Caz - I realised I'd forgotten to put you on my 'BF babies who never sleep list' as soon as I'd posted!

BT - glad you had a better night

Nothing to report from skid household - just snot, puke and yukky nappies as usual

insywinsyspider · 24/11/2008 14:06

thanks arcadie - had long chat with dh and booked ds1 into nursery for one day a week and other two with child minder, ds2 will do 3 days with cm, I think she is great so glad they'll both go there still as we couldn't afford any more nursery places. I've been round to see her this am and I think she took it ok, and she thinks I'm mad to be pg so quick
