Can someone please add "our babies" as my machine will probably blow up if I try it

Hi Oma
I knew you were going on holiday, but forgot. Sorry! And there we were, all worried about you! Where did you go? Awful about ear drum, I hope its OK now.

VS

Scorpio we weren't really planning on getting A anything in particular for Christmas. Is that wrong? We are spending so much on having a bathroom fitted plus extending the dds' room. Plus everyone at DH's work seems to be getting made redundant - not him yet though. So we are going to have a lean Christmas. We have decided to get our winter coats repaired as present to ourselves! Only dd1 - plus of course copious amounts of nephews, nieces, grandparents etc are getting stuff.

Peachy about not wining!

We were meant to be going to my mums for Sunday lunch. Spent 3 hours in the car in thick snow, giving up about 10 miles away. Sat in a car park until the snow storm stopped then drove home again, only to find it had all melted. So dd1 never got the chance to play in it.

VictorianSqualor · 24/11/2008 12:05

I want snow.

I don't know if we are going to get anything for Alex. Probably get him some more books as I'm bored of reading cock-a-moo-moo every night

chipmonkey · 24/11/2008 12:21

actually looking at the thread title, is it Very Bad that ds4 currently doesn't have a highchair and eats in his buggy?

VictorianSqualor · 24/11/2008 12:24

He's dc4 chipmonkey.
He's lucky you feed him.

chipmonkey · 24/11/2008 12:39

Oh, Good! Ds3 had a highchair which is still in the attic but I refuse to use it as it is one of those wooden ones which look lovely but you end up chiselling Weetabix off! Also not very comfy! If anyone has any suggestions for The Perfect Highchair I would be grateful!

Soph73 · 24/11/2008 13:13

Hi there! This is just a quick update as I'm sure you're all wondering where I've been

Went to health centre last Weds and was told to take Sam asap to the maternity hospital, which I did & was told that he has bronchiolitis. Initially they thought he'd have to be admitted but with the help of a salbutamol inhaler his breathing eased and as everything else was OK I was allowed to take him home. He's now on salbutamol every 4/6 hours and has to have nasal drops before he eats. Poor little sausage.

So, anyway I decided to try and get a sick note from docs until 8th Dec (which is when MIL comes) as Sam's not allowed to go to nursery. Got appointment for Thurs, woke up in morning (didn't realise it had rained during the evening), went out onto patio to feed cat and went completely arse over tit as floor was sopping wet. So by the time I got to the docs I really did need a sick note as my back & leg were completely knackered

Anyhoo, I´ve got the sick note, Sam's feeling better & my bruises are slowly fading. There, that's all our fun and games for now. Hope you are all OK. Will try and check back every couple of days.

Love, Soph xxxxx

TheShipsCat · 24/11/2008 13:21

soph - sorry to hear about sam - and your bruises...poor you!

Chipmonkey - A eats sitting in a travel booster seat attached to a chair. we got the highchair out of my mum's loft, but - ahem - I'd put it away dirty and broken, so we took it to the tip yesterday! If i could get the buggy into the kitchen, I would use that!

OMaLittle · 24/11/2008 13:44

Both mine have done all their eating in a booster seat I bought as an initial thing for DD1 and which we were then going to use just for travel! Would appreciate recommendations for one with a tray as am finding (kind of) BLW VERY messy and our chair, table and floor are constantly covered in shit food.

DD1 NOT enjoying being with just Mummy and DD2 after two solid weeks of Daddy! Stupidly also rearranged a delivery today so we can't go out. AND got my eyes tested on Sat and they are knackered so I shouldn't really drive until I get my glasses but couldn't choose frames on my own (they all looked bloody awful).

Soph, bad luck about Sam and your leg and back! Sending best wishes for swift recoveries all round.

OMaLittle · 24/11/2008 14:17

Oh, and MHaH, been meaning to say for ages, I read this and I thought of you. Hope you are feeling better.

How grim is this weather? I'm really struggling for ideas to fill the post-nap, pre-dinner slot at the moment.

TheShipsCat · 24/11/2008 14:25

Oma - I've kept the tray from the highchair - which is now sitting forlornly on the floor as I haven't worked out a way to safely attach it to the table. Our floor is so covered in crap - especially with the builders here that I've pretty much stopped cleaning as its just too depressing!

And I know what you mean about the post-nap pre-dinner slot. Here its either filled with cbeebies or getting out every toy known to man and distributing it round the room...How does everyone else keep toys tidy? I've just rearranged ours into a slightly tidier pile because I needed to find the TV remote control I am so house proud.

TheShipsCat · 24/11/2008 14:26

Sadly, the remote control is still missing in action, and has been for about 2 weeks!

VictorianSqualor · 24/11/2008 14:30

I don't allow toys out of bedrooms. Stops me having to sort the piles out

TheShipsCat · 24/11/2008 14:32

Great idea. Once the dds bedroom is finished, that can be the new rule...

LittleRascal · 24/11/2008 14:41

hi there
hope all had a good weekend- bloody freezing already!!
i invited a few babies over last week for some messy play- was sooooo much fun! (trays of opposites- warm spagetti and almost frozen custard pot in 1, well diluted jelly in ice cube letters and jelly cubes in another). was great fun! but now all the babies have caught rosealla (sp?) from some1 there- high temp, snotty, then rash 3 days later! so i have grizzly baby sleeping on me after dosing with calpol & waiting for doc appt later!

thatsnotmymonster · 24/11/2008 15:05

Hi everyone! I am beginning to get into the swing of things as Robyn is finally sleeping through from about 6.30pm - 8am!

We are currently selling 2 wooden highchairs on ebay. I have Robyn in the bumbo on the table and I have reently bought the tray attatchment for it- only thing is she keeps pulling it off. She will be transferred to a booster soon!

I don't think we will be getting Robyn anything- she will get stuff from relatives anyway.

Peachy- that's amazing that your lo is standing! Robyn is beginning to get up on her hands and knees and I think that is good!

LittleRascal · 24/11/2008 16:18

80 minute wait for a 3 minute assessment with doctor! aaahhhhhhh! what a waste of a day!!!

thatsnotmymonster- well done for sleeping thru! Pls be careful of the bumbo- I had my ds in it for meal times and he escaped so fast and i just caught him. in the hight of it all i managed to take a photo of it (not to be sadistic but I had the camera in my hand as I was taking a pic of him eating!) (will try put the pic up if i figure out how to)

LittleRascal · 24/11/2008 16:29

think i have put a pic on my profile

Denny185 · 24/11/2008 19:25

Yes little rascal ur picture is up, IME once they have learnt to get out once they will do it again so think you may have reached the end of your bumbos life hope LO was ok and escaped all injuries.

Dont know who asked about toys/mess, we have 2 ikea cubed storage units in the play room with wicker basket things in them so at reg intervals during the days things get chucked back in them. I used to be very meticulous anal over which toys went in which basket, now they all just get lobbed in a hidden from sight. Every now and then I sort through and put jigsaws together, shapes in shape sorters etc.

Have had a quick read through over last few days,
Peachy sorry your having a shit time hope you manage to find some workable arrangements soon,
Scorpio to broken washing machine and hand washing in bath - do you have a lauderette by u?
Hello to new people and those that havnt been around for a while,
Knitter and Soph, hope G and S are feeling better soon, bronchiolitis is crap leaves u feeling v helpless as to how to help the little mites,
Eliie, def consider Cheshire if you move to the UK, as Knitter said she Sheds and I are here - no more needs to be said.

Since last on here have been for a lovely weekend away with the girls (minus kids) which was great apart from the clothes shopping on Sat, where I had a mini melt down in next changing rooms. Felt v fed up of being oversized and wearing frumpy mummy clothes, particularly heightened as the friends I went away with are all snappy dressing skinny mini's. End result friends ended up grabbing lots of clothes from around the shop and I ended up buying some stuff I wouldnt normally look at giving the wardrobe a much needed revamp.

DH and his mum coped fine with the kids and I think its made him realise how tough it is with 3 and how little he normally has to do. Ever since I got back he has helped loads with kids and around the house giving us much more time together in the evenings

scorpio1 · 24/11/2008 19:29

@ your DH realising!!

Oh yes there are launderettes, but dh was training, it needed doing, thought it would be fun , it was fine!

I am leaving Mimi tomorrow at nursery, for a couple of hours inc a bottle. (9-11)

scorpio1 · 24/11/2008 19:30

oh and you felt 'frumpy' - i went on a diet and wii fitted my heart out to lose my weight, said wii fit is now on ebay as we speak! It was hard (to diet etc) but stopped me feeling so chubby.

LittleRascal · 24/11/2008 19:34

Hi denny- no worries- bumbo was put straight into the attic when that happened. just put it up to warn those using bumbos to be aware of them!

for toys storage I have a blow up ball pit from asda that I put balls in. then when ds is asleep/finished in that area, I put all the toys in there and it goes neatly in the corner. I then rotate the toys in there as needed

EllieG · 24/11/2008 19:44

VS - Molly has slept through 2 nights in a row now (well, last night woke briefly at 5) - but - I have looked in books and trying to do what they say - what exactly did you do with Alex?

Also - LOL at audacious twunt though sympathies for having a mad nan around. And speaking of books, I recommend one called Elephant Wellyphant by Nick someone or other - is fab with great illustrations and would make lovely present. All my friends with babies are getting it for xmas.

Molly is getting not much for xmas on the basis that she doesn't really know it exists and we have NO money at moment til I get back to work.

And speaking of work - I went in there for a couple of hours today - was actually really nice doing a bit of non-Molly related stuff, quite enjoyed it.

Littlerascal - very, very impressed at you doing messy play. Think am too lazy for that kind of thing....

I will think about Chesire denny - my gran is from Altringham (my claim to fame is that my uncle is on the board of their football team and has a lounge named after him - woo!) so I know it round there. However, I saw a thing on tv which said that ladies in Chesire are all very rich and have lots of hair extensions and permatans and designer stuff, so not sure I am neat or thin enough to live there [wink}

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 24/11/2008 19:44

I have the ikea units lke Denny, we converted our dining room to a lpayroom- or cess pit as calls it! (they just seem to pull the tys out and leave them everywhere)

bas got the all clear for ftt from the Paed- she agrees like us the boys have a very fast metabolism. He's also usefully got a note n file stating if we have concerns he needs fast tracing to Paed as asd servives are so busy, hope never to use it but handy!

iced a Christmas cake today for a sale on Sat- very at myself, looks good. Only another 20 to go! (OK, 18 will be miniature ones LOL, we get just the one cake).

EllieG · 24/11/2008 19:48

Here is link to Elephant Wellyphant

EllieG · 24/11/2008 19:49
