Here we go. I was too sick, sleepy and preoccupied with my weight to notice the old thread running out

OP posts:

There are some pics of her playing in the garden on my FB profile btw.

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/05/2008 21:08

Ahhhhh, how cute

lackaDAISYcal · 12/05/2008 21:57

jammy, your photos are lovely

DD was up to her elbows in compost today; helping me prepare the planters for the bedding plants I bought.....then she started eating it and had to be taken inside.

the poor lamb is teething again and has had caustic nappies all day. her poor bottom is bleeding and weeping. she screamed all round the supermarket and was tring to stand up in the trolley. I thought she was just bored

justbeme · 12/05/2008 22:15

Sounds nasty Daisy! - do you mean caustic as in ammonia? L's are still like that - but not when she wore a disposable . My reusable nappies dont smell when clean but within a couple of hours of her wearing them, you can really smell it! What should I do?

Love the photos Jammy - I put L In her baby bath today in the garden - great fun!!

Im borrowing a bread machine to see if I want to buy one Jammy - so far Ive only used mixes from Lidl - which were sunflower and wholemeal. I know homemade bread is heavier than shop stuff - but it was still really heavy and abit like it was undercooked? What recipe do you use and what comes out the best?

lackaDAISYcal · 12/05/2008 22:39

Hi jbm....I think it's the ammonia in the wee reacting with the poo that causes it (she had been in the pooey nappy for nearly an hour ). Her wee is very strong when she is teething.

Re your nappies, try adding a cupful of white vinegar to your final rinse; it neatralises the ammonia build up. I do that once a month with mine to keep pongs at bay, and sometimes add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to the rinse as well.

That's a great idea about the baby bath. Our paddling pool is too big to fill just for DD.....I'll get the bath out tomorrow if it's still hot I think

justbeme · 12/05/2008 22:43

Ok thanks Daisy - have tried the vinegar once or twice but will give Tea tree oil a go - (Oh and dont the nappy bins stink!!!!!). - the joys!!

Munchies are attacking me again - so I'll bid goodnight!!
x

lackaDAISYcal · 12/05/2008 22:45

again, a few drops of tea tree oil around the rim of the bin, or dabbed under the lid make it smell slightly more pleasant

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/05/2008 07:33

JBM, we have a Panasonic SD254 breadmaker. We use the recipes supplied with it and have made good white, milk loaf & granary bread according to the recipes. We found the 100% wholemeal can be a little heavy, but I like it, but as DH isn't so keen we tend to make a 50% wholemeal/50% white flour loaf - again they give a recipe for that. The "troubleshooting" section in the instructions suggests that if bread hasn't risen enough (I guess a cause of heavy bread?) then either the flour is not the right type, or not enough liquid has been added, or not enough yeast, or old yeast, or too much salt or not enough sugar. And if the bread is pale and sticky (would appear as uncooked I guess?) then there is not enough yeast, or old yeast. Hope that helps!

Is it just me that finds the tip of the day a bit

I have a date for baggins christening! Now I need to lose several stone in not many weeks . I have started playing tennis and cricket with DS1 to help him practise - this is exercise right??? We played on the yard outside out garden last night - DS1 served over our 7ft fence straight into the shed! And over the neighbours fence into the "dead blokes" (DS1s words) garden. We need to get a court pass for the village courts

andiem · 13/05/2008 10:05

ria I think any extra activity counts as exercise
have posted your garlic first class yesterday not much as I had weeded most of it out but I can send some more next year as it always comes back

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 10:50

thanks andiem.

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 10:58

I'm off planting...

andiem · 13/05/2008 12:48

don't worry ria my treat

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 12:58

thanks andie. (I'm not stalking you BTW, just turned the PC back on before I pop off to do some tedious housework of sorts.)

i want DS1 to get home from school so we can play tennis, I am really bored. I want a dishwasher too!

justbeme · 13/05/2008 14:41

Thanks Jammy for the bread advice - Ive heard the Panasonic ones are the best!

Well it was my turn to "host" the 2nd time Mums NCT coffee morning today - 10 or mums were invited - 3 said they could make it, one canclled last minute and only 1 turned up!!!! Oh well thats my turn out of the way for a while!

Im off out for a cuppa with a neighbour and her 5week old baby now.

lackaDAISYcal · 13/05/2008 18:18

evening all......it's mighty quiet around here when the sun is shining isn't it?

went to our first stay and play at the brand new childrens' centre that has opened at DS's school. The brand spanky new toys are fab, and DD had a ball.

My November AN thread has had it's first multiples. One of the women has had her dating scan and discovered she having triplets, conceived naturally. She is understandably a little bit

where is everybody????????

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/05/2008 18:37

I'm not long in from work. I walked 3 miles of the way home (half of the scenic route) and then DH & the jamlet picked me up in the car. Trouble is the milk I'd expressed today curdled in the heat coming home But I'd not had a very productive day milk wise, so not too much lost.

It's great when they have new toys isn't it? Our children's centre is fairly new and they have some great stuff there. I like it that they can buy stuff that would be too expensive for the average parent to have at home too. Ours is getting extended at the moment as there's not enough room, and I got to help pick the colours for one of the rooms the other week, so it's all going to be green and yellow

LittleMissNorty · 13/05/2008 19:34

Hi guys - been so busy recently haven't had time to post - just read....also getting caught up with OJs thread which makes all my news / rants seem so insignificant.

If someone told me I as expecting triplets when I was pg with DC2, I would cry....fuck that! I'm knackered and broke with just one!

Things are really slowing down on this thread

Mind you, some good news......Gordon's back on telly tonight

Right, as soon as I'm back, I need to go again and cook dinner.....

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 13/05/2008 20:20

Evening all. Pretty busy here too. Jammy, I am finding that I am expressing less and less. Only got a few feeds left in the freezer too - eek!

Hope you are all ok. Daisy, triplets ! How are you feeling btw? You ok?

lackaDAISYcal · 13/05/2008 20:20

hi norty.......to think this time last year we were needing a new thread every four or five days

such are the realities of life with an increasingly active almost toddler.

Poor OJ and family

DS is doing my head in at the minute. he challenges everything, refuses to do as he's asked, is constantly cheeky and gobby and goes out of his way to ignore Dh and I and do stuff that he knows is downright stupid or wrong......like drawing on the floor in his room and on furtniture and being really mean to DD and to the cat. I don't know what has gotten into him recently

Ah...Gok followed by Gordon, and no DH to talk through it all...could my Tuesday get any better?

lackaDAISYcal · 13/05/2008 20:25

cross post bumper I'm fine. MS is subsiding, as is tiredness so starting to bloom

I've also had two days of relative ease in the neck department. It's only sore if I try to put my ear to my shoulder, or look over my shoulder either way.....and the headaches have stopped too...yay

I'm not convinced about the whole jeans thing that Gok is on about. I'd look a freak if I wore jeans that low on my hips......someone mentioned a six pack of muffins; I've got a baker's dozen

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 13/05/2008 20:43

ah evening all! anyone watch the teen mum high thing last night? made me cry

how is everyone today?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/05/2008 20:45

hi Natty. How are you?

lackaDAISYcal · 13/05/2008 20:47

hi natty....I don't watch it sorry.

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 20:55

Hi. Busy? not me, LAZY.

did a bit of gardening and washed the windows I could reach outside (drew the line at balancing on top of the step ladder with my telescopic brush to do the boys rooms above the conservatory - maybe tomorrow when DH is here to land on).

Glass of wine tonight I think.
