Hi leaky - welcome back!
T no better, cork didn't work, going to try to get docs appt this afternoon. Going tpo ask for rest of week off work as I don't want to leave him when he's like this and am sick of the "will he/won't he be better in time" and making plans, back up plans and back up back up plans
so feeling very but will be happy once he's better and I get time off

mamiguay · 01/04/2008 09:00

Hello all, welcome puppymonkey and great to see you back leaky! You'll soon feel like you've never been away I'm sure

Love the first birthday ideas - now thinking I might get him a wheely bug.. wonder if I can get them out here? Although could quickly go from not spending much to spending an absolute fortune so control is very much needed.

Got to go do some work, back soon x

mamiguay · 01/04/2008 09:16

spb forgot to say sorry T is still poorly sending him lots of get well soon thoughts

Another of my quick q's to you all.. N can't use a bottle, he can't remember how and drinks from a doidy cup. I was going to buy another one for him to have at nursery (we have to leave a cup/bottle/ drink receptacle there for him).. is that a good idea or should I try and get him to use one of those sippy cups? Seems silly to teach him to use one at this stage but at least he could then help himself whereas with the doidy you have to offer it and hold on to it.

?

Bramshott · 01/04/2008 10:09

Hi again Leaky - was wondering how you and your poorly laptop were doing. Welcome to Puppymonkey (resists temptation to say "welcome to the madhouse" as someone I used to work with always used to and it drove us mad!).

We have ordered O a baby swing seat which fits onto our garden swing frame for her birthday, but it hasn't come yet (I don't think she's noticed!). With the money she was given we're going to buy a sandpit so we're all kitted out for summer! Now I just have to write the thankyous - sigh!

Mamiguay - I'd try with the sippy cup too as he'll probably need one for when he's out and about. O has got much better about using one recently so I now alternate between that and her Doidy.

Runny - how is W doing now? If you don't mind me asking, how quickly did he go downhill when he got the pneumonia? I mean, how quickly did it turn from a normal cold / chesty snuffles into pneumonia? Sounds scary.

NL - I still haven't heard any more about the job - the woman emailed me last Tues, and I emailed back on Wed to say yes, I am very interested, let's arrange to talk. And nothing - argghhhh!! Still, I don't think she's talking to anyone else about it and I do know her from working with her in the past, so maybe she's very busy. I'm going to leave it till tomorrow and then send a chase.

CaptainDippy · 01/04/2008 10:14

Would give sippy cup a try, MG - once he gets the hang of it, he'll love the freedom and independence of being able to give himself a drink, I'm sure. Alternatively, send him to nursery with a sippy cup and let them do the hard work.

Sorry T is still ill, SPB xxxxxx

Oooooh, what "fun" have you been having Pillock!!!!?

Great to have you back, Leaky - G's "all day" Party and goodbye shin-dig sounds like a riot What have you got planned!!?

Clock change has knocked P for 6 - she's still sleeping ok; but unsettled Poor love, hope she settles soon.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/04/2008 10:19

Are you still bf Maveta? I found that some sippy cups made it difficult for J to feed properly. I found an excellent one with a soft spout, Tommee Tippee, 2 for £4 at Tesco, happy to send you a couple if you want to try them?

CaptainDippy · 01/04/2008 10:20

Hi Bramshott!

mamiguay · 01/04/2008 10:27

Hi Bramshott!

lol at making nursery sort it out cd [evil] I like your style

Thanks POTC, yes I am still bf-ing but [whispers] it looks like we have successfully night weaned [ducks in fear of that coming back to slap her in the face] so just morning, after work and bedtime. I'll have a look for the tommee tippee ones here, I know Toysrus does some of their stuff so might have one.. thanks!

Am going off shortly to have a look at the cow wheelybug (love stealing ideas from you lot ) and in a quandry (as always I hear you all sigh) as to whether to get the small or large. Think I'll get the large though as he's a big lad and will no doubt outgrow the small in no time.

NorthernLurker · 01/04/2008 10:34

Hi

I would definately go for the large one - my friend with twins who had them did that - and her children still play on them - aged 5!

Bramshott - hope you hear good news soon

Elkie - we have one of those cubes at toddler group and it is VERY popular. It's not that big tbh - and the bit on top comes off and fits inside it for better storage.

Hi POTC - I think I've got one of the sups you mentioned and it certainly has been the most effective thing I've tried.

Welcome back Leaky

SPB - sounds like a very sensible plan. Hope T is better soon.

Morning to everyone else

CaptainDippy · 01/04/2008 10:36

Hey Pillock!

CaptainDippy · 01/04/2008 10:38

Hi NL!!

NorthernLurker · 01/04/2008 10:39

Hi marmaduke - you can join the club of mothers-who-totally-forgot-but-in-doing-so-have-accidetally-saved-their-babies-some-cash!!

Of course we'll be in trouble in 18 years time when our offspring notice in took us a year to get round to it and so accuses of not loving them enough!

So tell us more about yourself marmaduke - or arey ou a regular hwo has name change and I have lost the plot .....

NorthernLurker · 01/04/2008 11:08

I've just been posting on a thread about a mother who needs to take her daughter to a&e but has no cash in the house - so the cab would need to stop at a cashpoint and she is worried that the cab driver will seize the opportunity to make off with her dd! Please tell me nobody on this thread is that paranoid!

CaptainDippy · 01/04/2008 11:13
Hmm

ok then - it just shows you how differently everyone views risk doesn't it? I would do that without a second thought - but there are lots of things I woudn't do - mostly involving deep water and heights

Morning all.

Pesha, SNAP! B had the runs last night and isn't herself at all today, so I am "working from home" today!! Have hoovered, put on 2 loads of washing and am going to clean the floors as well. B is quite happy lying on the sofa watching dvd's!

SPB, sorry poor T is still unwell, and am glad you have decided to stay home with him. Without sounding patronising, just make sure he is drinking and food like bananas, bread and potatoes are good for a runny tummy.

Leaky, lovely to have you back. Good luck with the house move when it happens.

Bramshott, long time no see! How annoying re the job. I hate it when people take an age to get back to me [pot calling kettle black sometimes!]

Dippy, hope P is ok.

POTC, lovely to see you. Youn sounds very upbeat. Can't imagine why???

Hi Mav - sorry can't get used to your new name - it's my age!

Brain emptied.

Better go and check N is ok and crack on with the housework working from home.

NorthernLurker · 01/04/2008 11:37

marmaduke - - looks like that is what she will do as well.

Hi Sol - poor little B - enjoy your home working

CaptainDippy · 01/04/2008 11:46

You could always take her out of the Taxi and take her to the cash point with you!!? Can she got a car seat!!!!!?

Poor poorly little people

Must go and sort washing and baby and go to work .............

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/04/2008 12:20

sorry, but I think that is ridiculously paranoid too. use a reputable firm, the risk to her is far less than that of not going to a&e surely?
i am NOT going on that thread because i would rant

Maveta
I am only feeding at 6am, 6pm, 11pm now, but giving him a hard plastic spout arsed it right up, completely different sucking system, likewise any of the 'non-spill' ones, they have to suck far too hard to get any out.
