hello again, been a busy morning. Thanks for your help on my other thread Bramshott, Eca, SPB.

That cake looks fab, think that's what I'll do N for his. His cousin was born on the same day a year earlier so on his actual birthday which is a monday, I think, we'll have a small tea with my parents and the following weekend we're going to a house in the country (belongs to some cousin of a friend of a brother of an in law or something) to have a day out with the whole of dh's side of the family, probably make a great big paella over a wood fire or some such rustic activity . Mum and Dad will be invited but more than likely will be overwhelmed by the large numbers of spanish people and wuss out at the last minute.

NorthernLurker · 18/03/2008 14:32

afternoon all
been to baby group this morning which was fun - B looks enormous now next to the little ones there. I've also been good and booked my smear test (ugh). Off to school in a minute - that's about it.

Sorry - no hedgehog cutter - I'm not very domesticated to be honest - basic sponge is as far as I go!

Bramshott · 18/03/2008 14:46

Maveta - I have been wondering - what language do you and DH speak at home? Is N going to be bi-lingual?

Did he go down for his nap in the end?

mammyjo · 18/03/2008 14:49

Maveta, lol at rustic activity! A big paella sounds delicious!

Bramshott · 18/03/2008 14:50

Hi Mammyjo! Secretly we all want to go to Maveta's house and eat paella!

Maveta · 18/03/2008 14:57

lol.. doesn't it sound yummy though? Will let you all know although it isn't for a month or so yet. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with the plan..

Bramshott.. he did go down, took half an hour and dh finally did it and he's now been down for an hour just remains to be seen if I can hold out on my own with no dh to egg me on (and step in and take over when I become a gibbering wreck) tonight. I will do it, I WILL do it!

Dh and I speak Spanish (Castellano) at home, I speak to N almost always in English but occasionally slip into castellano if that is what I am speaking to other people. Dh speaks to him in Mallorquin (a dialect of Catalan) but does like me re. slipping into castellano occasionally. So he should be tri-lingual! Lucky boy

Hello all

Oooggs - Fantastic news about the school. I bet you're so relived!

SOL - Jeans make you arse look big I don't think so, your arse couldn't look big in anything!!

Loving the hedgehog cake talk.

Bramshott I have been wondering about that as well.

We will probably go out to the farm or something like that for Izzy's birthday with the family and then have a family tea.

Back later

AngeG · 18/03/2008 14:59

Wow Maveta. Lucky boy with all those languages spoken at home!!

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2008 15:12

NL you have shattered my illusions

Bramshott · 18/03/2008 15:19

Wow - I agree - what a lucky boy N is with all those languages!

Yay to hear that he did go down for his nap in the end - 30 mins sounds pretty good to me. Now stay strong for tonight - you can crack this (preferably with the aid of a glass of wine). I think you're doing the right thing in trying to break the feed/sleep connection before trying to drop the night feeds.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2008 16:15

how bad is it to laugh when he cries?
was showing him a picture of him and daddy earlier, and he wanted to hold it - fine, but then he would want to bite and rip it so i'd take it off him. cue 3 wails so he got red and teary, followed by wobbly lip and peering up to make sure i was watching so cute

geordiemacminx · 18/03/2008 18:55

Just had 5 fillings at the dentist. Feeling very sorry for myself.

elkiedee · 18/03/2008 19:00

Hi all

PMSL at SPB's T story - I don't think it's bad to laugh at him crying if he's not too distressed to be checking your watching - obviously it's all for effect.

D now has a certificate saying he's a brilliant baby and that he's "graduated" from Baby and Me. That's so cute! About 5 of his group mates also graduated at the same time, mostly about a year old but also including Joe who was born on the same day.

elkiedee · 18/03/2008 19:01

gmm, sorry to hear that - would say aaaahhhh but it sounds like a bad pun at the moment.

CaptainDippy · 18/03/2008 19:12

Ouch GMM!

I am cream crackered!! Lots of fun working at the shop, lovely atmosphere and I managed to froth the milk ok

Octothechildherder · 18/03/2008 19:13

Oooh GMM Poor you. I had one replaced the other week becaue they thought it needed to be but turned out it didn't Luckily I have cover or otherwise I would have been paying for a filling replacement I didn;t need! Cheeky!

Off out tonight - yes OUT - I;m going OUT for a drink with a friend - not a committee meeting or babysitting but bonefide OUT

Octothechildherder · 18/03/2008 19:13

Tell me about your job dippy

geordiemacminx · 18/03/2008 19:17

Octo - I thought all treatment is free up until your baby is a year old?

Octothechildherder · 18/03/2008 19:19

Ah no because my dentist won't accept me as an NHS patient as am already private - yes, I know its crap but not worth finding another one for that time - and he has taen on the boys as NHS so won't moan!

geordiemacminx · 18/03/2008 19:21

Thats rubbish - I'mreally lucky with my dentist its only 5 minutes walk and is private but takes NHS paitents too. Need last wisdo tooth out and possible root canal... having babies wrecks your teeth

Octothechildherder · 18/03/2008 19:24

Oooh GMM Nothing to do with deep fried mars then? (((ducks and runs for cover)))

oooggs · 18/03/2008 19:35

enjoy your evening octo
