my own personal take on the plans talk

I slept really badly until 10 months (when a switch was thrown and I slept through the night / walked / talked / read books / analysed complex quantum physics equations ) and the HV used to tell my mum it was because I was so bright. My poor sleep deprived mum never twigged that of course she did - mum needed some glimmer of positivity in her sleep hell!
NL - I thought B slept OK?

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:06

page 2 of the HV's handbook "they won't feel any more rested but they'll be able to boast to friends and family"

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:07

Hmmmmmm - good nights B sleeps right through or at least till 3am plus. If wakes feeds briefly and settles down with me or if seems fidgety in the travel cot.
Not so good night - B wakes when I go to bed, feeds and settles with me or in the travel cot. (If I put her back in the cot with us in the room she kicks off - I want to move!!!!)
Bad night - B wakes before midnight, is properly awake and hard to settle anywhere then wakes again at 5am!

Eddas · 17/03/2008 22:07

don't want to add ds' sleeping habits onto here, wouldn't want to jinx it or get things pelted at me

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:09

I saw you on another thread saying he slept through
but it's OK he'll make up for it in other ways - he'll be drawing on the walls at age 3 while I smugly hand T a painting set and small sheet of paper and tell him I'm going in the shower, entertain yourself for an hour or so

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:11

Well - she's not bad - in that the nights where she's hard to settle are rare and the nights of just screaming are incredibly rare - can only think of two in a year tbh. But - the older two were sleeping through at this age - they weren't in our room though. I don't mind the waking, the feeding , the having her in bed with us - it is my last chance to snuggle up with a baby - i'm not in a rush to end that. The only thing that gets me down is when she wakes 20-30 mins after I've gone to bed - I've just drifted off and then I'm back awake - aaargh! Dh is away again this week - which means I have to get out of bed to get her as well. Harrrumph!

Eddas · 17/03/2008 22:11

was that the 'did your dc sleep through at 6months' one

You could be right, but then again dd slept through and doesn't draw on walls. Although she did draw on the chair at preschool the other day

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:11

night everyone, off to prise baby off DH (I didn't mention the before-we-go-to-bed wakings) and put him in his travel cot on the stairs (don't ask) and climb into my futon..

elkiedee · 17/03/2008 22:11

NL, love the theory.

D's sleeping patterns have varied a lot but he's always responded well to organising some sort of routine - at first I thought routines were a concept that certain parenting gurus wanted to impose on babies. Ours isn't out of a book, but D seems to be ready to have a bath about 6.30 and to zonk out some time between 7 and 8. 7.10 last night and 7.20 this evening! But I won't be shocked if he does wake up.

Eddas, is there a secret or is it luck?
(Yes, it was that thread i think)

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:14

it's a good one isn't it Elkie I've found most babies find their own way - B for example likes to do a poo after lunch Don't you all feel lucky I've shared that with you

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:14

I agree elkie, I don't like routines for a baby in principle, but otoh I like them, I like knowing when I'm going to bed etc so why shouldn't they... Hopefully one will sort itself out when he goes to nursery

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:15

well T's a straight afetr breakfast guy
or, if he's feeling evil a straight after 1st nappy change of the day

(like this morning )

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:15

SPB - don't know what Eddas is going to say but imo it's luck

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:16

really goodnight everyone!

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2008 22:17

what did I do pre-T?
I had
-no baby
-no MN
I must have had 23 1/2 hours spare each day!
Still wouldn't swap it for the world (and T's really nice too)

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:18

Night SPB

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:18

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:18

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2008 22:32

CaptainDippy · 17/03/2008 22:41

I'm definitely not going to tell you about P's sleeping habits if Eddas is getting stuff thrown at her then!!
