dh and I have sworn never to go near facebook - after we saw the effect it had on a good friend of ours - he showed us his page when he came round for dinner. 3 hours later I just went to bed and dh had to prise the laptop from him and evict him from our house! Mnet is quite addictive enough for me

oooggs · 20/03/2008 16:48

hello - tea time at the zoo!!!!!

back later

cazboldy · 20/03/2008 17:58

Ellie......now we just need to sort out where.........

NL - I really do hope that your fears are unjustified xx

dh's boss still not been.......what's the betting he turns up right in the middle of dinner?

Right......need some advice...... I was at this awards thing this afternoon, and was talking to another Mum, and it turns out that another child who is in exactly the same position as ds1 has been given a place at the school we have been turned down for

Do I forget it and just carry on the appeal as I was? Include it in the appeal (not mentioning any names)? Contact the school? any other ideas?

The way i see it is that they can't take the place away from the little girl, but surely they will have to give ds1 a place too right???

Gotta go, tea is ready

CaptainDippy · 20/03/2008 19:16

I'm not sure I am afraid Caz, not having school age children I haven't ventured into this unknown territory yet I personally owuldn't mention it and carry on appeal as before.

Older 2 are being little gits going to bed tonight I have still get stacks of work to do ...will it ever end!!!?

oooggs · 20/03/2008 19:55

that's dodgy caz - I would be furious - and have to let dh deal with it

Bramshott · 20/03/2008 20:29

Helloooo! DH is out at some swanky do at the banqueting house tonight, so I am sitting here with pasta and meatballs and a beer - sad!

NL - chin up! I think surveys always bring up a load of stuff and it just depends on the mentality of your buyer. We certainly have always expected it when buying houses. Last time we sold our house, we knew there was an issue with a rotting joist in the loft which we had had patched up, and of course it came up in the survey and the buyer came round with a builder who told him that it was all absolutely fine!!

Caz - I'd say that probably is worth mentioning in your appeal. Can you do it without mentioning a name - eg. you have discovered that "other children" in an identical situation have got in?

Brain emptied - am supposed to be (a) writing an annual report for a charity I work for - if I work between now and 9.30, I will earn £20, and (b) creatively sending emails to everyone I know, trying to drum up some more work.

Sexonlegs · 20/03/2008 20:39

Ooooh, pasta and meatballs sounds yummy Bramshott.

NL, hope you are ok- you seem to be having a rough ride atm.

Caz, I am not sure I would mention the other child in the same situation tbh, but that is just a personal view.

Hope everyone else is well.

DH is home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thrilled, as are the girls.

It has been a long 5 days without him. I am so tired, I overslept this morning. Woke up at 7.30!!! Have to leave at 8.30, so a manic rush and K was handed over still in her night nappy, sleepsuit and gunky eyes! Amazingly, Leona and Mandy at nursery were fighting over her

Right, better go and spend time with dh, so catch up with you lovelies soon. xx

elkiedee · 20/03/2008 20:50

Umm, Caz, understand how you feel re school thing, but think it's a bit of a problem to mention other child. I think it's better to focus on the strength of positive grounds for your appeal, and of your supporting letters etc.

NL, so the surveyor identifies problems, possibly. That doesn't mean the buyers are necessarily going to pull out. And it certainly doesn't mean you'll never be able to sell. We've had a survey since we bought for remortgage purposes, and he identified problems or possible issues - but I got what I wanted.

elkiedee · 20/03/2008 20:51

Hope SOL's having a lovely time with her dh now.

elkiedee · 20/03/2008 20:58

D's CM was sad that he's not there over the Easter weekend. She said to dp that we could take him tomorrow, and when dp said that we intended to keep him with us, she was saying "See you Monday"! (No, dp explained, Tuesday). Well, it's nice to know they're fond of him but while they don't celebrate Easter (CM and family are Muslim) I'm a bit surprised that she sounds like she'll miss him that much.

CaptainDippy · 20/03/2008 21:52

Still lurking inbetween battling through work .

Bramshott · 20/03/2008 21:57

Okay well I have done half an hour's work, and chatted to my mother. Off to drink the rest of my beer in front of the fire.

Night all xxx DH out tomorrow night too, so I'll be back then

CaptainDippy · 20/03/2008 22:01

Night sweetie xx

elkiedee · 20/03/2008 22:13

Eddas · 20/03/2008 22:44

cd I want to say 'computa says no'

weeonion · 20/03/2008 22:52

evening folks!
So so quiet on here these days. must admit to more lurkign than posting - just so i can keep up with you all. it seems life is busy with poorly babies, poorly mums - (pesha - hope you are ok!), new kitchens, carpets and homes under way. work is either looming or fast approaching for alot of us and isnt it just a joy! . babies are climbing and crawling ahoy, with teeth coming in and heading for first birthdays! where has this past year gone to???

someone was asking about GMM - she has headed south to her folks fr easter.

life is ok here. C got over her RSV / broncialitis fine - she has stopped wheezing like an ole biddy with a 60 / day habit.
she had her first setlingin at nursery today. hmmmm. when i went to collect her - knew, just knew that she had been really crying and she was left sitting on her own whilst the others were having a snack . i could have cried. she has another session tomorrow. i may be on gin after it!

happy easter weekend to you all, plenty of acting like bunnies and rolling of eggs I hope!

NorthernLurker · 21/03/2008 00:09

WO - good to hear C is a bit better - I'm sure things at nursery will improve - for both of you.

Caz - I wouldn't mention it either. It's terribly unfair - but it doesn't add anything to your case.

Hi everyone else

I feel quite a bit better this evening. Dh is back - hurray and we've all been to a prayer and preparation meeting we have at church prior to our holiday club next week. The big girls listened and joined in with the songs we were learning and played in the church hall. B was very good, playing in the pews then conked out asleep in my arms. I'm really looking forward to the club - the whole church is decorated in a theme - last years was New York, this year it's 'The Beach' and it' a busy but fun week. Dd1 and dd2 love it!
I was really tired this evening and didn't much feel like going to the meeting tbh - but I'm so glad I went. I was sitting in church before a lot of other people got there, dh was faffing araound with the sound desk - that's his thing and the girls were all playing in the hall. The music group were playing - we have a vey talented songwriter in our church who always writes great stuff for the club. Anyway - I thought - well the work thing is horrible and I do feel very bruised - but work is such a small part of my life. My lovely, lovely family and my friends and the things I can do at church and elsewhere, things I know I do well - those things are really my life and my life is full of good things. So I'm ok now - not sure how I'll feel when I get back to work - and I'm still going to be looking for something else - but for now I'm ok. Thank you all so much for your support. It means such a lot to me

StealthPolarBear · 21/03/2008 08:21

Morning everyone
Dreadful night Not T's fault I just couldn't sleep.
NL - I was trying to say something like that before (foot in the mouth, unposted ) but "think of your lovely children" sounded so patronising You put it better yourself - work is only a part of your life and can be as insignificant as you want it to be!
caz, I'm afraid I have no experience. Do you know in theory what they do if they have 2 children who tick all the same boxes? If the answer is let them both in, then, yes it sounds like you should be mentioning it without mentioning names as you say. Either that, or mention the boxes, and ask which ones you failed on iyswim? Must be so annoying!
Right, off to tidy up my kitchen before breakfast

StealthPolarBear · 21/03/2008 08:23

I meant to say, elkie, it must be fantastic to know D is so loved at his CMs T has his nursery induction next week [wobble]

cazboldy · 21/03/2008 09:10

Hi.

SPB - I hate it when you can't slepp - it's worse than being woken up!

NL - so glad you are feeling more positive about things.

Thanks for all your advice. Dh and I had a chat last night, and we have decided to press on ahead on our own grounds, and I might mention it to the schools deputy head who has been so helpful to me.If he then feels something should be done about it, then he can. The thing is, even if she has "slipped through the net" so to speak it is unfair........Problem is that I think there will be more than a couple of children affected by this

cazboldy · 21/03/2008 09:12

Oh and we are getting a new kitchen!

I can choose (within reason)

Think I am leaning towards an oak one.....(well oak effect anyway) but what colour tiles go with oak?
