Um.....had tried to read the thread, but brain mush

Last week, W thought he would be clever and stand on his own. Except he couldn't, and fell head first into the the dining table leg. Huge bruise, much crying and a trip to A&E followed. All okay, and of course, as soon as we saw a dr, he started laughing

Then yesterday afternoon dh rings me, and starts the conversation with "I've had an accident..." Turns out that a great big piece of MDF/ceiling stuff got caught by the wind and crashed into his ankles - has got a nasty gash on one shin, and the other leg is strapped up from toe to knee, and he has crutches. Nothing broken, just very badly sprained and bruised.

Children, dh and crutches do not mix!

Hope you're all ok
x

and J has just fallen off our bed....

why won't he sleep

elkiedee · 12/03/2008 20:29

Hi all

My mum came to visit on her way from France to Yorkshire, met our lovely childminder who insisted on us stopping for a cup of tea with biscuits and samosas. Just wish we'd got round to getting our house a bit cleaner before my mum came back here - she spent nearly the whole 2 hours she was here cleaning stuff.

Octo, you should have noticed by now that you can't mention the faintest possibility of pregnancy without everyone on here insisting that you do a test and let us know!

weeonion · 12/03/2008 20:41

evening folk s- hello to you all!
just caught up again - so hard to keep on top of what is happening with us all!

penpot · 12/03/2008 21:01

Thought I'd go for a name change just to confuse you all the more! Though this was very apt as I seem to stare at it most of the time I should be writing! (it's tcmummy btw )

vio- keep going sweetheart, through the dark days and the brighter ones. What you're doing and how you are coping is amazing. I've just spent the last hour having a good cry. The boy I knew seems so young to die at 18, but Jim Jim makes him seem like he's had a lifetime. But both are too young. Thinking of you xx

hi oooggs - hope you and the babas are well!

sol and at B weeing in the wardrobe! It's nice to see the girls are still keeping you on your toes

runny - what a lot of accidents! Hope things settle down for you. Sounds manic!

elkie - at your mum cleaning! Brilliant. Don't be , just enjoy .

wo - hope you and C are doing well up there in the north

NorthernLurker · 12/03/2008 21:03

Hi all - haven't caught up yet - just needed to pass on a message from Dippy - I've just been talking to her on the phone and she asked me to convey that she misses you all most dreadfully. She is without internet access whilst on her hols and cannot wait to be back in the cosy though crumb-strewn bosom of the April thread.

Ok - what she actually said was 'ello' but I know she meant the other stuff too

oooggs · 12/03/2008 21:27

Hi NL. All sickness gone yet??

penpotEca · 12/03/2008 21:52

oooggs you couldn't possibly change your name after you scrapped debated with anyone who had a name similar to yours !

WestCountryLass · 12/03/2008 22:02

Ladies, you are not going to believe this, I am farking ill again! It started last Wed with swollen glands in my neck, Thurs/Fri I had bad cold and seriously bad nose/snottage issue, Saturday I had BAD ear ache. I rang the on-call Dr and they told me to take ibuprofen...Sunday night I took myself off to A & E as ear pain horrendous, threw up over the poor nurse that assessed me.

Turns out have very bad sinus infection and tubes/sinuses/ears cannot drain. They were talking about admitting me and draining my sinuses by puncturing my ear drum????? Was confused and on strong pain meds so not sure what that all about. Anyway they gave me IV antibiotics, drip and pain meds and head honcho said no need to do that as ear drum would burst onnits own so sent off to pharmacy to get meds to take home.

Fell asleep in the pharmacy but was a good thing as was knackered and loaded up on drugs and ear drum burst while I was asleep - relief of sorts!

So I have spent all week trying to rest, my friends have rallied round and helped pick up the kids etc for me. Ear still leaking gunk and constantly ringing and skin is numb and cannot hear a thing at the mo. Keep having to stop myself walking into walls and falling over as balance is shot to peices but I am having a lucid moment so thought I would let you know why I have been MIA

elkiedee · 12/03/2008 22:11

WCL, that's awful, it sounds really painful. Glad your friends are helping out.

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 07:30

Morning everyone
Poor you WCL, you sound like you have been really bad

OP posts:
liath · 13/03/2008 07:37

WCL you poor thing, that sounds horrible - hope you're feeling back to normal soon.

All quiet here. Am v excited as I get my new car today - a Honda Jazz . Am sick of driving DH's volvo, hate big cars, people keep crashing into me .

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 08:29

ha ha T having a little tantrum as I have now baby proofed the bleach cupboard in the kitchen.
Sorry to sound callous but that's going to make life so much easier
Just another 1000 to go!
When are you picking your new car up liath? It's so exciting isn't it? (She says sounding like she has a new car every year )

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 08:30

He's getting his own back now - he has discovered the delights of the kitchen bin, uurgh

OP posts:
tcmummy · 13/03/2008 08:52

Morning all. WCL - that sounds awful!

just to say I'm loitering around (under this name, didn't change before I started thread - duhh!) over here if you fancy joining me for a bit of campaigning! .

lol at the bin SPB - that's T's fav toy

liath · 13/03/2008 08:57

Car is being delivered, SPB. I've never had my very OWN car before so even though it's second hand I am very chuffed. MIL lent us some money so now I am going to have to be really nice to her when we're at centre parc next week .

LOL at the rubbish bin!! They are into everything now aren't they?

Bramshott · 13/03/2008 10:25

Ok, this is going to be quick as I am knackered, snotty, have too much work to do, and have to collect N as 11.55 and somehow produce lunch for her, me, her friend and her friend's mum from the contents of my cupboard - argghhh!

Went to Thomasland yesterday and had a lovely, lovely day. N was an adrenaline junkie and went on everything - the roller coaster, the ride with the big drop etc - loads of stuff I wouldn't (hey it's all aimed at under-10s, but I'm a wuss)! Orla was in heaven in the softplay area - lots of squealing and bashing stuff! Minor celeb-spotting in that that bloke with the long hair and beard who gets bands back toghether on the telly was there! Free food and bar - media days are definitely the way to go! Will try to post some photos later.

SOL / IDOC (and anyone else in the South) - Dippy, Ange (briefly I think) and I are meeting at the Playshack in Hedge End at 1.30 on Saturday. Any chance you can make it too?

Right, off to do some work now, back later probably.

p.s. Caught O chasing and nearly eating a woodlouse on the kitchen floor this morning - urggh!

NorthernLurker · 13/03/2008 10:45

Hi all - B is on the loose so I haven't got long but just wanted to let you know that I heard from work (by phone - thank goodness) and as I thought, I didn't get the job. I'm not disappointed about the hours at all - was going to be a nightmare but my self confidenceis a bit knocked by it. My mananger was very nice and wants to see me to go through some points with a view to the next interview I have. I will do that but tbh I would just like to crawl under my duvet and hibernate for a bit. Feel rather useless and thick tbh - and of course the uncertainty continues......B wants me so must go.

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 11:02

NL sorry
I suppose it's natural to feel like you do, wallow in it for a bit and then move on to the next thing. Glad your manager is nice
Bramshott, lol at O's woodlouse chasing!

OP posts:
oooggs · 13/03/2008 11:58

sorry NL

hi everyone else back soon

oooggs · 13/03/2008 12:04

Jack is very funny walking around - he looks so pleased with himself

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 12:08

My friend's little DD was round yesterday, she can walk really well but is actually smaller than T. When she let go of stuff I would instinctively go to 'catch' her, she would give me a look of disgust and walk off
