Hello all

WCL - poor you, sounds awful

Pillock - if you're sending Octo the test and Octo if you do the test this weekend - someone has to text me cos we are going away for the weekend to Devon so no MN And as its my test I obviously have the right to know the results first!!

Has been bust day today. M's workshop this morning which was quite good but quite frustrating at the same time, they teach them several different strategies for doing difficult sums such as 89 + 54 which is fine and good that it allows them to find a way they understand best. But it just leaves them totally confused and with no clear way in mind about how to do it so you show M that sum and she just looks at it and says I dont know. Am glad that I now know the different strategies (they are not allowed to do vertical adding with units first then tens which is how I always do sums) so that I can sit down with her and help her find the right one and then we shall just stick to that so that when presented with a tricky sum she has a clear method in mind of how to solve it, but I feel sorry for all the parents and children who arent on the course (there are only 13 of us out of a year of about 90) who wont have a clue how they're learning and how best to help them

Sorry for rant

Anyway D went to my friend Cm this morning who took him to toddler group and he had a great time, no sleep. Came home and he dozed on me for about 5 mins before it was time to go visit another CM (the first ones SIL) so was wide awake agian! But has now just fallen asleep in the highchair! CM seemed lovely and is available straight away so think I will go with her but will talk to dp first.

D is being his lovely easy, happy self again and just playing lots and smiling at everyone which is so nice after the grumpy, clingy hard couple of weeks we had with his tooth coming through. Feel like I have my little boy back again

Wont be on much tonight as now have loads to sort out for weekend and then leaving early tomorrow. So if I dont get back on hope all have a nice weekend

Maveta · 13/03/2008 16:29

hello! been such a beautiful day here, in the 20s although didn't reach 25 as predicted. Definitely spring weather, doesn't know what it is doing from one day to the next.

Sorry about the job NL I always try to take these things as meaning it wasn't right for me and a better one is round the corner. Although you can now flip me your middle finger if you'd like

Octo - eeek for the test, good luck for the result you want

Eca, you are always Eca to me too

lots of from me today weird because we had an ATROCIOUS night with N, dh finally settled him at... wait for it.... wait for it... 5 AM! 5! FIVE. F.I.V.E A.M.

Toad. So he didn't have his morning nap either and I ended up rocking up to my folks' house so my mum would get him to sleep which he finally did 11.30-1.30 so I just hung out with my folks for ages, then off to the garden centre and now Mum is shortly coming back over to help kick my roof terrace into some kind of shape. Think we've decided to get a little wendy house for N to use in summer. will be v. cute

He's crawling now but really only when something is worth the effort and still prefers to be on his feet and can more or less push his brick cart along but I shuffle along on my knees behind him to catch him is this PFB behaviour? Should I just be letting him fall? I am not sure..he does suddenly let go without warning even though he totally cannot stand unsupported yet.

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 16:50

oh no maveta, tonight will be a good one!
When he falls, does he not just plonk onto his bum anyway?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2008 16:51

We had a bad night too but nowhere near that bad - he was up at 12, 2, 4 and then 6. That said, teaching him to tell the time should be easy, he must already have a good grasp

Hello ladies, sorry, I hope you dont mind me postiing this, I know I am not a regular on this thread but I just hope that you can all do me a favour! please!??

May I ask you to please copy the following message, send to everyone in your email contacts or every you know, friends, family, work colleagues?? another reason why i am doing this is it will soon be James 1st birthday and i have been worrying how i would have felt, I have then decided that i need to try my very best to raise money, to show James that his life doesn't stop there because Mummy is doing everything she can to make him proud. Thank you very very much!!

------------

This is a real life story, a wee bit sad maybe but certainly worth reading.

James was a little boy who sadly passed away last year, he was born with an incurable condition called EB, Epidermolysis Bullosa, he lived a little more than 4 months but he's an inspiration to his parents and many others.

His parents now want to help children/adult living with the same condition, if you want to find out more about little baby James, please visit his fundraising page www.justgiving.com/jim_jim, you can make a donation if you want or if making a donation isn't an option, please forward this link to everyone you know. We need to raise awareness of this dreadful condition and most importantly, we want to remember James in a very special way.

Sincere thanks to everyone of you!

Sexonlegs · 13/03/2008 18:10

Evening all.

Have read everything and have gone and forgotten everything!

Maveta. Oh my God is all I can say to your night. Horrendous. Hope you get a better one tonight.

SPB, children are such foul creatures aren't they?? Hope T didn't get anything too gross from the bin.

NL, sorry to hear about the job. I try and adopt Maveta's thoughts - it wasn't meant to be and that there is something better around the corner.

Bramshott, sounds ike N had a fab time!
Re Saturday, I am not going to be able to make it I'm afraid. It is the day before dh goes off for 5 days and he wants us to spend the day together bless him.

Pesha, where in Devon are you off to? Hope you have a fab time.

Hi Vio. Hope the training for the run is going well.

WCL, you poor flower. Really hope you make a speedy recovery.

Brain completely emptied now.

All ok here. K is driving me mad though - she is so whiny. Think it must be teeth and have given her some calpol as nothing else working, but she is still whinging.Think she could be tired as well. She only ever sleeps for about 40 minutes on a nursery day which is just not enough for her.

Roll on bath and bedtime.

Hopefully dh will be back in time. He wasn't last night and B was a pita having had her friend round for tea.

Hope everyone is well. xx

NorthernLurker · 13/03/2008 18:18

Hi everyone

Maveta - what a terrible night! Or very early morning to be more accurate!

SOL - did I see you had a wee in wardrobe situation yesterday? What on earth do you do to B's poor little friends??

I'm fine about the job - there were bits of it I would really have liked - but dh has just said that it would have driven me up the wall and I'm sure he's right. He just got in from London and bought me a lovely bunch of flowers as a consolation prize. Didn't need one - but it's nice

Sexonlegs · 13/03/2008 18:26

NL, you saw correctly! Must be something about my house.!! People walk through the door and lose control of their bowels and bladder And that's just me!

Octothechildherder · 13/03/2008 19:07

Thanks for all your encouragement but I really do think it is the mirena causing it - it is supposed to stop your periods - and there is no way I would not get morning sickness! and giant jordan boobs and the smell aversion - it couldn't possibly go unnoiticed. Thanks for the offer though POTC/Pesha.

DH is home so having nice meal in and watch a film

I have decided to have a Teddy Bears Picnic for Ernies birthday Bear cake pics most welcome!

elkiedee · 13/03/2008 19:41

Hi all

NL, sorry to hear about the job.

And Maveta, we've had some problems the last few nights but 5 am to go to sleep... ugh.

I went looking for baby mags today but fear I must have missed khin's star turn.

hope your dh got home SOL.

D has had bath, milk and story but is wailing, think it might be time to go up and suggest another tack.

Sexonlegs · 13/03/2008 19:51

Elkie, hope D settles.

I thought we were going to have trouble with K. Had to fight to get her in to her grobag and she kept kneeling up and crawling to the end of the cot. She has a "snuggy" at sleep time, and she has learnt the trick of dropping it out of the cot and then shouting/crying for it!

elkiedee · 13/03/2008 19:57

A combination of something on our ipod and totally different songs sung to him by dp seem to have soothed him, at least for now. We're expecting another disrupted night though.

Pesha · 13/03/2008 20:02

Maveta - 5 am!! Dylan was just waking up then

Nl - sorry think I completely forgot to say sorry about the job. Agree with others that it obviously wasn't meant to be, and full time wouldn't have been the best really would it?!

SOL - we're going to Hartland, between Bideford and Bude. Anyone seen the film Water? Starred Michael Caine and Billy Connolly. A lot of the coast scenes were filmed at Hartland and they used the house we're staying in (my cousin's husband's family's holiday house!) as their base, it was them that fitted the generator. House still has no mains gas or electric but does now have mains water which is more than it used to have when I stayed there as a kid!

runnyhabbit · 13/03/2008 21:03

Evening all

Not much to report, just lurking, and trying to catch up but failing miserably

Did notice some talk of birthday parties. The boys are having a joint party, in a soft play centre that they both really like. Makes sense for us as their birthdays are only 3 weeks apart. Must start organising cakes and things.

And we go on hols 8 wks tomorrow

Love to you all
x

Sexonlegs · 13/03/2008 21:45

Pesha, sounds lovely!

Hi SPB, how's your evening going??

I have just had a major meltdown. Has been brewing all day really. B is being incredibly difficult, K is becoming hard work and dh is working all the hours God sends. I am picking up the pieces and feeling overwhelmed. We have decided to re-evaluate things. We are realising that the girls are precious and we will never have this time again. Not sure what we can change, but something has to.

Life is so hard.

CaptainDippy · 13/03/2008 21:52

Will catch up in a sec, but before I do - SexonLegs - Are you free this Sat pm??????????????

Sexonlegs · 13/03/2008 22:01

Dippy, I am really sorry, but am not. Dh is heading off on Sunday for 5 days and wants the 4 of us to spend the day together - we have barely seen each other. Hope you are ok. x

CaptainDippy · 13/03/2008 22:29

Just read SOL's post re: Sat - shame you can't make it , but have a fabby day with your DH and girlies - Looking forward to seeing Bramshott and Ange

Think you should test anyway Octo - just for a bit of tension and excitment We do need any PG on this thread, me thinks....

So - is P the only one on this thread not crawling yet!!!? Bless her - she is commando crawling at quite a pace, but not "up on all fours crawling" iykwim - She's starting to pull up a bit now and loves being upright. She is yummy.

Glad you heard about the job NL - and so sweet that DH got you the lovely flowers - I think it is for the best in a lot of ways - I know it was a step up the career ladder, but it was also a F/T post and you have a lot on in your life already with 4 children (inc DH ), especially as B is still so young. There will be other opportunties - God's timing is perfect!

Hello TCmummy! So very about the young man who died - praying for his family and friends. xx

... and so about the sillborn little girl as well, oooggs Praying for her mummy and daddy and family too. xx

Will definitely pass on your post, Vio - You are an inspiration. JimJim was such a precious little one. xx

Oooooh, KneeHigh - exciting to see your article(s)!! Will definitely try to pick up a copy (the free spoon sent me over the edge ) Will look out for your group on Facebook, shame MN HQ didn't want to know.

Looking forward to Sat though - t'will be lovely to see Bramshott and Ange and little ones Loved the sandwich pic of O, Bramshott and also as she loks a lot like P!!!! We'll have to compare on Sat!

Right, am at dad's house using his computer to do "work" , so should really get back to that .....

Good to be back!!

Eddas · 14/03/2008 07:52

hi ladise, don't think i've posted for a few days have been lurking though

had a pig of a day on wed. Got a call from preschool at 9.15, they needed help, so I volunteered and ended up helping to sort out 16 wild preschoolers for a couple of hours then I was straight off to my proper job and quite frankly on wed evening I was useful for nothing!glad I don't have to do that everyday! DD was a bit of a sod at preschool too, am sure it was becuase I was there. She drew all over a chair with felt tips mind you I think she was following the example of another little boy that I caught at it too Funny thing was the manager sat all the children down and said how disappointed she was that someone had done it(she didn't know who at that point) and lots of the kids confessed all to their mums after preschool bless em, they didn't even do it.

In ds news, he has been letting go and standing on his own far too often for my liking he tries to take a step and then drops down as it's easier to crawl

In dh news, the weekend in newquay I mentioned the other day, well, he's going all the way to newquay for one night now will cost about £200 with beer/travel/somewhere to stay not overly please since we'd discussed his going the other night and I said it was unreasonable of him to want to go away for 3 nights(4 days) and leave me on my own witht the dc, plus we really can't afford it

So on that note, does anyone fancy a spa weekend costing, oh I don't know, say £200. Just so's it's fair

DloeufyDoo · 14/03/2008 08:15

Morning all.Dp home today.Starts new job end of month so hopefully won't be away as much[yay].
Would like to win euromillions. If I do I shall rememver you all[she says extravagantly]

So now I have brought everyone on a downer[sorry]I shall go.Hope all have a lovely day.

StealthPolarBear · 14/03/2008 08:18

oooggs · 14/03/2008 08:36

morning - was in bed asleep last night by 7.30pm - so tired after a terrible night on wednesday, then last night wasn't much better - but we will survive - and it can't last forever, can it?

Full sympathies to those also struggling at night, I know exactly how hard it is - Maveta/Katy - I think of you when I am up with an unhappy baby and wonder if you are up too!!

Fed up of rain

how is everyone else?

runny - joint party sounds fun

StealthPolarBear · 14/03/2008 08:53

oh no oooggs, you have a really positive attitude, I'm really impressed you can think like that!
Not too bad last night actually, first time he woke was ten to 4! He then seemed to make up for it though by feeding for 40 mins at which point I gave up and took him into our bed. Without feeding any more he fell asleep - I think he may have got used to this bed thing, I will have to work on that. He then slept until 6.30 when we all had to get up
