Friz: I would so love to have her treated in the UK (or anywhere that the first language is English and where there is a hope of finding a breast-feeding friendly dentist.) I am dreading the lectures in French.

DD2 seems happier today but I will get an appt. as soon as I can now that I know there is not much point in waiting.

As for the insurance: It is with a different company because the one in Vienna covered health and dental. In Switzerland there is no immediate dental coverage for UN employees...

I don't actually mind I just wish that SOMEBODY would let us know about these subtle changes in coverage etc . before we decide to move to another country.

Finding new doctors, new dentists, new schools, new house, new friends, new routines (basically a new life) is ENOUGH without having to guess about health and dental insurance.

OK...I am going to have a cuppa and calm down because this too shall pass... Two years ago I was still in NYC trying desperately to establish breast feeding with this monster and that is all a fading memory...

laundrylover · 10/04/2008 09:28

Caddy needs to pop over to the UK for a group hug!!! Which reminds me that we need to sort out a Chatsworth date when Astro is back for a farewell meet up. Next meet up on Bondi Beach.

Am sitting here in my suit as am off to Birmingham for an interview for a new contract - just printing off some reading for the train so as to appear knowledgable.

My friend made me smile this morning - she was reading Billy Goats Gruff to her 4 year old daughter and she said 'Mummy, why didn't the big billy goat just go first and throw the troll off??'. Love it.

Cadmum · 10/04/2008 09:40

Oh PLEASE can I come to a meetup? Any excuse would be a good one!

LL: Hope it all goes well. (WOW! A suit and everything!)

Yo- from famine to flood, seen almost no one since last week while potty training then everyoe I've invited to pop by comes at once! had morning coffee with two friends and our 4 kids rampaging, lunch with one of those families plus my yoga teacher (long story), chap came to pick up broken microwave at lunch time ( freecycle), got every one gone away by 1ish, boy to bed for nap , he woke at 3.30, fanother friend and her dd arrioved at 3.35. Wasa busy day, but lovely to have company and other people in the house. evene if I did have to watch boy closely so only vaugly partake in girly gossip.
only 2 pairs dirty shorts today, both from sneaky poohs that he didn;t quite manage to get shorts down and bum on potty in time for.

Slack parenting alert.
Am alone in getting my 2 yr old to washup? he loves it, standing on a chair, getting soaking wet sploshing water and bubbles about. only usefull if the stuff to wash up is plastic and not very dirty, but it sure keeps him ocupied.

UniS · 10/04/2008 20:30

Caddy- eek- bosses wife sounds a bit scary. DON'T send her your address or directions, claim your modem crashed or something if she phones again, get kid to randomly thump phone buttons or pull cord out ( I don't have to ask for that one, boy just does it :-) Next time she calls fake heavey cold syptoms, or claim one of teh kids has jsut been sick, you have 4 litle excuses, use them to teh max for at least a week... then ask her out?

Frizbe · 10/04/2008 21:50

I don't think she sounds that bad, just a little eager to help you settle, she's probably just thinking that when she was doing it all, when her kids were younger, that she'd have liked someone to be more friendly, so is being over friendly to you iuswim?

LL how'd it go then, you power woman you

Uni, nice social days are good eh

I've spent 3hrs cleaning dh's van today, nice.......(inside and out) its now gleaming and full of kit and tents for the boys tomorrow, just waiting for ss's toothbrush to finish charging, then I can pop that in, and they're ready to rock

laundrylover · 11/04/2008 11:33

Feel that I must point out that my suit is a dark blue linen one with a Chairman Mao jacket! Worn with my Camden platform boots it's not quite as power dressy as you may have been imagining!

Interview went OK I think -I should get the contract really as I've done it before but I was a bit crap at some bits - mind went blank etc....

I drove to the train station to get train to Brum and there was no parking left so I ended up getting back on motorway and driving there. Was quicker and cheaper (crazy eh?) but I didn't have my SatNav so took me ages of driving blindly around central Brum with a little printed map.

Just spent morning with Kiah as she is having a real clingy episode (booby tantrums at 2am). We went to to Age Concern and bought loads of clothes, the PO and the library - not sure if this really counts as quality time but never mind.

Uni, Kiah loves to wash up too but DP always forgets to give her an apron and I find her with cold, blue arms at 3pm .

OP posts:
Cadmum · 11/04/2008 12:04

LL: WE had those tantrums here too last night. DD2 is still clingy and miserable but that is nothing compared to me: I feel sick and VERY sorry for myself. I am not looking forward to dragging myself off the couch for the school run.

laundrylover · 11/04/2008 12:35

....sick eh????

OP posts:
Cadmum · 11/04/2008 13:02

I wish I were faking but I've been up since 1:40 this morning with a kicked-in-the-gut feeling and a splitting headache.

UniS · 11/04/2008 13:56

apron! I wish, nochance of getting on on boy, even offered him daddys one yesterday, but NO. so I go the other way and he washes up in shorts and vest, then i get him dry and dressed after.
V proud of him , we went to toddlers and he used his potty twice, including just before we left. Hurrah, we can leave the house again. Maybe i should keep it fairly low key next week tho.

Frizbe · 12/04/2008 11:52

for Boy on potty Uni

for poorly Caddy, hope your dh is home this weekend and looking after you?

LL, but did you get Krispy Kreme whilst you were there, you cannae go to Brum and have no KKD's

DD2 used the loo at nursery yesterday afternoon and wee'd!!!!! she may train herself at this rate?

dh rang last night to say he was soaked, the tent got soaked being put up and he was soaked. He rang again from Tesco carpark this am to say he was having breakfast in LRP kit and getting funny looks, but all his clothes were soaked and he was going to put up the tent properly this am, so lord knows how he put it up last night??? its only a small one 2 poles makes a dome thing??? poor ss who knows what fashion of rigging they slept in last night....character building I guess

I didn't get on here last night, as I tried my hand at paiting its not a masterpiece by any stretch, but was nice to have a play with some colours, I'm going to fidde with it a bit more tonight, and present it to a mate for her birthday, with some other stuff

Cadmum · 12/04/2008 17:20

DD2 weed on the loo at Starbuck's with daddy this morning! Out of the blue said she needed a wee!! We may both have self-trainers in our March 4 girls Friz. I am too lazy to take this seriously but she now goes every morning an throughout the day with the exception of the school runs...

I do feel somewhat better today but I am finally dragging myself off to see a specialist because I am officially ill every month at ovulation and since I have never experienced anything like this, I ought to go, right?!? I am trying to get used to the whole medical system where you self refer. I am used to the Canadian system and the NHS.

DD will also be seeing the dentist with her dad. (I think that she is likely to be more cooperative with him.)

Frizbe · 12/04/2008 20:49

Yay for dd2 Caddy fingers x'd they both self train well you never know eh!

Yep agree, seeing a Dr for an opinion sounds like a good plan, do you think its hormonal?

Cadmum · 12/04/2008 21:32

Self training is exactly my speed! . No acidents today and only a 'pull up' to and from errands with dh so we are on the right track for sure...

As for the hormonal, I am sure that there must be a link because for the last 3 months I have spent 2 days feeling so ill that I can barely function. I have also been fobbed off by OBGyn in Vienna about lack of AF and repeated mastitis so now I am starting to worry... With my family history of both breast and ovarian cancer, I am daft to have waited.

It doesn't bear thinking as there are many more plausible explanations but I may sleep better knowing that someone is following up on my concerns. IYKWIM. I would feel awful for my kids as there is nobody here who could help us out...

Cadmum · 12/04/2008 21:36

No accidents even! (I need MN spell check lately!)

Frizbe · 12/04/2008 21:44

Don't worry Caddy, I'm sure its just silly hormones and nothing serious, AF's can be weird things at the best of times.

Uni, LL, Astro, Caddy, can you nominate Flame for this please?www.bumfluffnapies.com

Frizbe · 13/04/2008 14:28

add a p to nappies eh!

laundrylover · 13/04/2008 14:39

Caddy, as you know I've just been through this health worry and feel so much better having been checked out - I have an ultrasound on my neck next week so things are moving on. Do go and get checked out as there's no point thinking the worst (even though that's what we all do eh?). I wasn't questionning your sickness BTW, my was relating to your broodiness for number 5!!

Glad that the thread is using less and less nappies.

The last few days have been hectic fun as had a free for all on dried flowers (had hundreds of £ worth from G. Uncles house clearance) yesterday. A couple of freecyclers came along as did friends and neighbours. We raised £30 for charity and the leftovers will go to the mother care group at the children's centre.

Then I went and got loads of shirts - all brand new and packaged (some were £50 each) and took two suitaces out for dinner last and had friends round this morning - the boys were well pleased with 'em. Found a few vintage dresses and only knew one person who was a size 8, so she came round and modelled them and took them away. Result!!

Next job is to find a taker for hundreds of slides...I have a lead already....

laudrylover: I really had no idea that you were still waiting for an NHS referral. What a nightmare! Do you know who you are going to see? I saw the most amazing breast specialist when I had an abscess and virtually everyone else had told me that I needed an op to have it drained but he listened to my concerns and was willing to aspirate it and provide me with the proper anti-b's to kill the infection. You are, of course, nowhere near London but if you ever want his name, please ask.

Frizbe · 13/04/2008 21:58

Wow Caddy he sounds good
Off to the Dr's with you tomorrow if you can get an appt then?
for new notebook Uni
for new shirts and charity profit on clearnace LL

Is Astro back this week then?
