Me in a crop top and hot pants PMSL can you imagine the muffin top on second thoughts don't! I ain't no Kylie!

LL I remember dd1 being trained at this age, then heading backwards when dd2 was born, so let see dd1 would have been 2.4 when she lost the potty training for a few months, but her speech came on loads instead, so maybe dd2 will do that? I'm leaving training dd2 till its warmer and she shows more interest! At present she's happiest cleaning her teeth all the time

Hope Astro is going to be ok in all the snow this weekend in the Bongo??? lots forcast for scotland n.yorks and wales/brum/london tomorrow, but not us, sob.

laundrylover · 06/04/2008 10:24

at the muffin top Friz!

Yes, Tilly did exactly the same when Kiah was born and so at exactly the same age. Odd. She doesn't need her speech to progress any further thank you!! Can't shut her up, but she is doing that stammering thing that they do sometimes so you may be right about her having a developmental spurt.

Talking of which Tilly woke up the other morning and said 'I think I've grown in the night' - she asked DP to plot her on the chart and she's grown an inch in a month!!!

We have a sprinkling of snow but bet Astro has LOADS!!!!

UniS · 06/04/2008 20:23

we've had snow. in Devon! roofs still white.
May I have brief proud mum moment, boy wore shorts all day, the same pair. he got to teh potty every time he needed to. AND he wore shorts all day which is a major step, i was wondering if i was doomed to have a little nudist all week.
So, oh wise mums of pants wearing children, how does one go about going out with a potty close to hand.

laundrylover · 06/04/2008 20:25

Uni, well done that boy. I used to take a potty with me everywhere with Tilly but was more confident with Kiah. Boys are easier i think as they wee anywhere! Does he poo at regular times or are you worried that he may need a poo and you couldn't reach a loo???

OP posts:
UniS · 06/04/2008 22:19

hurrpmh, so where did my post go then. any how, V proud, Boy wore shorts all day- no nappy, no pants either. stayed dry all day. made itto potty every time. hurrah. aimingto get him intio pnats by end of week , but happyto have got him into shorts so far, was a bit too cold to be out in bike shed with bare bum.

bikes fettled, tyres pumped, trailer fixed etc.

soooo. out and about with potty, how do you do it, where do you dispose of wee ( or worse) in town.

UniS · 06/04/2008 22:21

sorry, post showed up , didn't mean to ask twice. poo is mainly predictable ish. ie- after a meal, but which meal and how long after is a bit less sure.

UniS · 07/04/2008 19:45

Waves.
progress report from camp potty training. a good day , managed to play with a friend and still rememebr to use potty ( one small dribble but hey he got to potty almost in time. Atthis rate we will be going to todders on friday- hard floor, every one else ( almost) has been there and done that.
Ankle rather better, went for a walk this evening, holding off running till next monday.

Frizbe · 07/04/2008 21:56

for great potty training Uni boy, well done. For out and about we use a porta potty, courtesy of Tommee Tippee, it comes with nappy type sacks with sanitary towels stuck in the bottom to soak stuff up (so if in the country, and its only a wee, you can get away with no bag for the girls, as you have a boy, he can just stand up!) but great for those I need to go in the middle of town moments (picture dd1 in the front side of the disney shop will you )

LL at Tilly growing. Dd1 threw a right paddy on the way out of nursery tonight, mainly cause tired, shocked the nursery staff though, as she usually plays saint whilst there She chilled out once home though, 4 year olds eh

dd2 nearly killed herself again yesterday (sun) 1st I caught her coming face 1st down the cargo netting at the playground then to top it off, she went round to the firemans pole bit, whilst i was just helping dd1 out and bloomin jumped que a face plant and a few mins of crying, before she bounced back and went on her way...thank fully she landed on the bouncy floor stuff.

Cadmum · 08/04/2008 20:01

Uni: Way to go with Boy and Camp PT!

Are my children really freakish for being dry through the night before they train during the day, then? Dd2 always makes it to the potty in the morning (though usually wears a pull-up to bed because I am a lazy sod about changing the bedding, in case of accident.) During the day she can be 100% success or complete failure depending on her humor! I am a very bad mummy with pull-ups lately though because we are on the road for 45 minutes to an hour in the morning and again for the afternoon school run and I she would be devastated by an accident.

DS1 and DD1 were both dry through the night long before they were trained during the day. Only DS2 ever wet the bed and very rarely to be fair.

Snow here today. Thankfully it was not sticking on the roads!

LL I hope you are back on track with your potty training. the relapses are no fun, are they?! Was Tilly grumpy whilst growing? DS2 is a veritable mess at the moment. In tears again this morning on the way into school. Virtually unheard of behaviour particularly in front of his peers.

Astro when are you back? I hope you are having a
great time!

I keep meaning to find the time to whinge about schools but Hey-HO! You lot have already read too many of my rants. Maybe later! (DD2's fav. expression lately.)

Friz LOL about your DD2's exploits. DD2 here has a big scratch down one side of her face and when I asked what happened she shrugged and said, "Bushes just scratch me and hurts me!" She was out roller skating on the week-end. How is it possible for a two year old to roller-skate?!?! Baby #4 is simply not allowed to be a baby 'round here. It is sad how quickly she is growing up. Talk me out of trying for #5, will ya?

LL:

Surely someone on here must want to try for another so that I can live vicariously through them (and remember how hellish it all is in reality).

laundrylover · 08/04/2008 21:14

Evening all,

Uni -reckon he's cracked the potty training eh? Well done boy!

Friz, your DD2 makes me laugh! Reckon that the three girls on this thread are real tough cookies - Kiah was rollerskating indoors today.

Yes Caddy we are back on track with Kiah's toilet exploits! In fact my sister was minding her at my mum's house today and sis dozed off (she is quite preggers!) whilst Kiah happily played. She woke up to 'Auntie A, can you wipe my bum please - done a poo on potty!'. She uses the potty at my mum's farmhouse as only one room is BOILING hot with an Aga in it and the rest of the house is below zero.

Kiah woke up grumbling at 2am and DP looked out of the window to see loads of snow and the fattest flakes I've ever seen piling down. It looked lovely but was well on it's way to slush this morning. The girls still enjoyed jumping in puddles and swishing through the snow and Tilly even built a snowman at preschool. Oh oh oh, which reminds me that she got a place at the school attached!!! Hurrah! (Sorry Caddy)
Sadly one of her friends didn't get in and his mum is a close friend since playgroup - hope we stay in touch but it does become more of an effort eh?

UniS · 08/04/2008 22:04

Camp PT- LOL. not very camp at all, boys too butch for that. 1st real flood wee in trews today. ho hum, we were in the garden tho so not a problem, think he was just a bit too excited about gravel!
night nappy has been dry on and off for a few weeks, and the last 2 days. need to get him out of sleeping bag 1st, then cot side off before I try him nappy free at night.
roller skating 2 yr old, I'm impressed. suspect that by the time you are on kid 3 or 4 they get to do much more adventurous stuff than pfb.
Maybe less of the baby art and music stuff and more following the others into trouble.
Am considering being an outragous hippy and buying a fairy hammock from Flame. any of you use washable sanitary pro along with your mooncup?

Frizbe · 08/04/2008 23:00

Can you get those then Uni? I didn't know you could, lol, surprised Flame has missed the opportunity to flog me one I do know she's doing soap nuts too, cause that was discussed the other day. So the answer is no I don't at the mo. To be honest I mainly manage with my mooncup, bar day two, when I use a knicker liner just in case. Lol as ds's 1st flood, I'm actually glad I'm holding off just a bit longer with dd2, as I think I may have pushed dd1 into it a bit more, where as I can tell dd2 is not ready just yet (although it'd save a packet!)

Caddy, dd2 attempts to rollerskate here too mainly on the carpet though, she did venture onto the hall floor and had a horrible shock

LL, yay for the school and woo hoo for the potty training.

Cadmum · 09/04/2008 12:01

Rant ALERT: I am having a bad mummy morning and feeling the all-too-familiar falling-apart-at-the-seams-doom-and gloom-rubbish.

I have just extracted a tick from DD2's thigh that must have been there since at least yesterday afternoon. ARGH! I didn't even know that there were ticks here. She also desperately needs to see a dentist but our dental coverage is not sorted so I am torn between taking her in (which we CANNOT afford) or waiting (which just seems cruel).

laundrylover · 09/04/2008 12:21

{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}} for you Caddy.

Take her to the dentist if it will make you feel better. Also I'm sure she thought the tick was a very exciting new pet.

Have a cup of tea and sit down woman. Ract some more if you like!

OP posts:
Cadmum · 09/04/2008 12:48

Thanks LL. I really will sit down and have a cuppa. It usually helps and can't make things worse...

I don't think that taking her is an option at the moment... If she is seen prior to the insurance kicking in then we would have to pay for the treatment. I have avoided talking about this because it makes me feel awful but dd2 has little or no enamel on some of her teeth (like 4 of her cousins interestingly) and she will need to have extensive work done. The dentist in Vienna did not want to treat her until she was 2 so just helped with 'maintenance' and a watch and see approach.

I know that the tick is not that big a deal. She didn't even make a fuss. I find them quite grim and was seriously hoping not to see them now that we are no longer in Vienna... Wishful thinking, indeed!

Today is just shaping up to be one of those days where I feel like I am not capable of doing well for my children.

laundrylover · 09/04/2008 14:16

Well you know deep down that you're a supermum. How many other women manage to run a house and 4 kids in a strange city and never knowing how long your going to stay?? I barely manage with 2 kids, 2 set of grandparents and a great network of friends!!! Still need ADs to keep me going!

You are FAB and don't you forget it. Think maybe you need chocolate with your tea....just had Green and Blacks Maya Gold and can highly recommend it.

I am on an up today despite the rain as broke my 10 minutes miles at last and found a new running pace. Am also getting stuck into a meaty business plan for a client.

OP posts:
UniS · 09/04/2008 14:21

Calm down caddy. if it was watch and wait till shes 2 a few more weeks won;t be teh end of teh world. could be shes grouchy about something else any way. ticks- erghhhh, icky things tho strangely fasinating. Have had one or two myself over the years of riding bikes through long grass & undergrowth.
CAddy- go and eat chocolate. do not give it to the kids, eat it yourself. hope you feel happier soon.
Washable panty liners- yes they exists, flame seems to be tie dying for someone else to sell. Queen of tie dye that she is.
3 pairs of wet shorts so far today. hes just not quite getting to potty or getting willy tucked in right. ho hum, its a learning curve.
equally there have been 3 perfect potty uses so no complaints about progress. a large cup of apple juice with water ( 50:50) seems to get him needing to wee lots.

laundrylover · 09/04/2008 14:27

LOL at our crossed choc advise post Uni!

Don't worry about the wet pants -just carry on and he'll be sorted soon enough. Why do you need to get him out of a cot before he comes out of night nappies BTW...Kiah has been months in a cot and bare bum! She doesn't get up to the loo. Caddy's must've been dry in cots too (strange things that they are with their dry nights!!). Even now she is in a bed she doesn't get out until I tell her too - won't last long methinks.

I would say to invest in a hippchick wee blanket thing and go for it as I find that they wee less without a nappy on.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 09/04/2008 14:47

Thanks...

I will muddle through this as well. Somehow it is all lacking finesse lately though!

We have had puddles here today too. Sadly, I am sure that it is her tooth that is giving her trouble because it is looking sore ATM and she was saying that it hutsa her.. (This is the first time that she has ever expressed any discomfort or I would have insisted on having something done earlier.)

Chocolate sounds like the perfect prescription. That and 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep perhaps.

I am off to find out about wee blanket and some feminine hygiene products while dd2 is still asleep and I am avoiding housework.

Cadmum · 09/04/2008 14:50

ARGH! DH just called and we will not have dental for another 5 months... Outrageous since he has the same employer and we were insured until we moved here.

I really hate money and all things that involve making decisions about health vs. money.

More tea and chocolate required.

laundrylover · 09/04/2008 15:32

We are so lucky with the NHS here as I often tell people who whinge about waiting an hour etc.

That's crap about the dental care - can your DH get someone at work to hurry it along? I suppose the thing is with milk teeth is that it's not the end of the world if they fall out eh? Toothache is awful though...can you not do the old thread and oven door trick on the offending one?

Oooh am really liking working today - have made DP do lots of phoning round for me (I hated it - like cold calling)for one client and I am bossing around leading a team of men in suits with the business plan! Oooh the power!!!!!

OP posts:
Cadmum · 09/04/2008 16:57

LL: Do you think that a home-extraction would actually work? I would be tempted to try if it wasn't for the fact that the dentist seemed to think that she will require a GA to sort out her teeth. It must be more complicated than the oven door trick. (From our family funny fact file: DH did pull out his baby brother's teeth! The boys were playing dentist and DH was flossing his two year old brother's teeth with string!!) MIL claims that there was a lot of blood.

I never took advantage of the NHS dental option but I sure wish that we had such a choice here.

Glad that work is going well. I am going to need my own business plan here shortly if we are to pay the mounting bills..

UniS · 09/04/2008 19:48

I'm keen to get boys cot side off before loseing the night nappy as i know he wees 1st thing , if he can get to his potty I think he would use it rather than wet the bed. Hes quite good at waking up and playing in bed till he gets bored or soggy( over wees his night nappy unless heavily boosted.) then calling for one of us. Days hes dry in teh morning are ones when we hear him playing and get into him fast coz we are already up.

5 months- that is a BIg gap in cover, sounds like someone been crap.

UniS · 09/04/2008 20:46

tother reason for moving towards a bed- we only bought a compact travel cot which is now outgrown, need to get him used to a bed before holiday.

Frizbe · 09/04/2008 23:50

Ok so Caddy needs to pop to the UK and borrow one of our addresses to get Dental quickly (its a plan right?) agree with Uni, get dh to kick someones arse, sounds like she can't wait that long for her and her poorly teeth, odd what genetics throw at us eh? should have heard my clicky hip at aerobics last night, so thankful dd1's was spotted and corrected.

LL at you on your power trip!

for boy Uni, wonder why apple juice gets em going more? it works here too! like tea for me

Have been dyeing hats tonight here and repairing kit, just about done now, have the joys of packing the van for dh tomorrow, so I know everything is in there for him and ss as opposed to me having to keep going and advising him where to find everything, as he can't see beyond the end of his nose.....
