Hurrah for the local paper classified ads. Should be collecting a junior bed tomorrow afternoon.
Boy had a much needed sleep in today- awoke at nearly 10am. was V tired and lost the plot agin at 4pm, so into bed by 7 tonight. He didn;t want to leave teh playground this arvo and was screaming at me most of the way home that I was going the wrong way. Ho Hum.
Havn;t heard from estate agants yet, I'll chase them tomorrow.

heres hoping you get better shipping quotes this time ( including all the extra bits that make it actully work)
Bummer about another poxy one. heat rash here, so spotty boy but not contagious.

laundrylover · 14/05/2008 11:54

Oh Astro, why can't they all get the pox at one go?? still waiting for it here.

Just been to docs to talk about reducing my Ads so will see how I go over the next few weeks....then had a haircut so am feeling like a new woman.

Am toying with the idea of awarding myself an afternoon off and getting some hard graft done in the garden.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine despite the wind.

ARGH! There is an entire post of mine missing...

We went camping in Italy for four days. Fabulous weather contributed immensely to a great time. I highly recommend it!!

EEK about the moving companies. The whole process is a nightmare!

I must run. DS1 is poorly and DS2 is being teased mercilessly by DD1. DD2 is being a barnacle and the kitchen sink is plugged. Life as usual at Casa Cadclan...

Astrophe · 15/05/2008 17:19

Brilliant Caddy, I am so glad you got away and had a fab time

How are DD2's teeth?

Cadmum · 16/05/2008 10:39

Astro: Thanks for asking about dd's teeth. I could scream this morning because after waiting forever to have an appt with the 'appropriate specialist', his receptionist rang this morning to say that DD is too young. Ummm... She is 10 two weeks older than the last time she was seen. Why did this only occur to him today?!? So now we are waiting to hear from another specialist basically.

She seems fine to be honest but I am now worried that all of the waiting may lead to trouble with her adult teeth.

I hope that you are all well but I must dash as I am not meant to be on here today until the housework is sorted. (As if that will happen this century!)

Cadmum · 16/05/2008 10:40

Not sure about the 10 in that post.

Frizbe · 16/05/2008 21:54

Hi to everyone anyway. Been quiet as been swanning around Paris with two of my friends and their kids, plus my dd1 If you do one thing, may I recommend a trip to Paris with the kids in tow, or at least one kid, if you can persuade a GP like I did to look after the others. Locals so friendly and lovely to us all We managed to do trip for BMI Baby sale £4.99 each way plus taxes, then one of the other mums got us a corporate apptment to stay in, so we had a nice gaff too (although Citidines aparthotels are good too) and we ate pastry and bread n cheese w grapes for two days but was FAB. Have gotten so used to people being ignorant in UK.....nice men getting up and letting you sit down on trains People helping with directions in street, without any attempt at asking, just standing around looking confused with a map lovely weather (on 1st day at least) Fantastic public transport, that's on time anyway we had a great time and dd1 want's to move countries now
dd2 was great for the grandparents too, so they're more into having the kids to stay again Dad also put hardcore on my driveway to be the other day, so that's shaping up too Oh and ss's mum has had a little Boy, so he was right, his mum does boys and I do girls and all is well with them too

Off to read the thread now.

Frizbe · 16/05/2008 21:57

Caddy {{{Hugs}}} re the teeth, damn dentists........
Where did you go in Italy then? come on campsite recommendations req'd

Astro {{{{HUGS}}}}} re the Pox, tis not nice or good, is dh feeling better with his?

Uni for the Bed, how's the house sale going?

LL, did you do the garden?

UniS · 16/05/2008 22:55

Ta for asking- bed is fine, he loves it and its strong enough for dh or i to perch on. houese sale... no movemnet yet.

friz- sounds like you had a fab trip. LOL at you do girls and she does boys. A young ( maybe 8 at teh time)friend of mine once explained her ( complex) family as "my brothers all live with dad and me and my sister live with mum so we don't have to have the boys coz they are annoying".
Caddy- DOH for the dentist.
Astro- have you ordered any boxes and whens your car boot sale?

We be off to cornwall tomorrow. not sure what internet access will e like so may not be online often in next week. Hope you all have Ok time doing what ever it is your doing.

Astrophe · 16/05/2008 23:52

sounds lovely Friz! Graet news re SS's little brother.

Had a man come and estimate volume today - we should have estimate next week. THey are 'door to door', so they bring the boxes and do the packing. Not sure how I feel about that. I guess we will do the carboot the weekend after they take the stuff, so late July.

DS still not 100%, but DH is fine now.

Its midnight, DD is still up as she put herself to bed this arvo and napped for 2 hours.

laundrylover · 20/05/2008 09:39

Hi all, just catching up with thread before i get train to London for an overnighter.

Uni, hope the weather is as lovely in Cornwall as it is here.

Astro, get packing woman!

Friz, very of your trip - sounds fantastic!!!

Caddy -hope the teeth get looked at soon and now get on with that housework woman.

Well, I have gone spring crazy -house is blitzed, garden is planted and I am up to 5 miles on my runs!!! Am even starting my AD cut down this week so let's see how it goes. Only bad thing is that I lost just half a pound at SW this week. Want to lose half a stone!

Right, better get some stuff downloaded onto laptop and my knickers and toothbrush packed....

OP posts:
Frizbe · 21/05/2008 21:15

LL well done on that extra 5 miles and good luck with the cut down. I've cleaned my kitchen windows today, that's my spring effort! (if the plasterboard comes off the hall wall tomorrow to make room for the new door into the garage my cleaning may well have been in vein) Dad is slowly brick paving the front garden over the last two weeks, but skip could do with going back, so dum de dum, plasterboard may as well go in it!

Astro let us know when the sale is, we might come and rumage if we're nearby? How's the pox going?

Uni, fingers x'd you may pick up some bank holiday viewings?

Should we try and arrange a meet up for end of June sometime for a last blast as it were? (until we all meet you in Singapore obviously )

Can't believe how busy I've been with life for the last week, dd2 has managed to crack half a new tooth on the 2nd set of back teeth, and has taken to potty training far to well for my liking, I reckon she must regress sometime surely?
She also tried Ballet today,as dd1 goes anyway, and she usually has to sit with me and wait, and guess what, she loved it So I had half hour to myself with a magazine, whilst they danced away I thought we might be onto a winner earlier today when she did a mad hoppity thing and told me she had her dancing feet on

Frizbe · 22/05/2008 22:35

Off to Wales for weekend girls, so have a great Bank Hols all

laundrylover · 23/05/2008 12:04

Have fun Friz - we have the pox! Tilly covered in spots this am and eczema infected already.

OP posts:
Astrophe · 23/05/2008 15:34

Oh no LL, pox for the long weekend! We are all recovered here. Get some piriton if you haven't already - really helped both DH and DS with the itching. Camamine lotion = waste of time. I hope its not a bad bout - did they catch ot off the very spotty lad who came to play?

Have a lovely w'end Friz!

We are off to Tissington for camping - two mates, 7 kids and me. The forecast is not great, it could be a bad idea!

Uni and Caddy, hope you have good weekends
x

laundrylover · 23/05/2008 18:30

Tissington sounds lovely but hope the weather holds out.

Went to docs with Tilly so have antihistamine and also antibiotic cream for her eczema. He said calamine was a waste of time too but I picked up some aqueous cream with calamine just to cool her a bit. She is fast asleep on my bed right now and has been quiet but not itchy today. She has about 40 spots already.

It is going through her class at a rate of knots!!! Just waiting for Kiah to start now....

Having to miss a party tomorrow but will have a day out somewhere if Tilly is up to it. Lunch at a friend's on Sun with kids who've already had pox so that will be OK.

What are Uni and Caddy up to this weekend? Caddy, are your kids on hols or not?

OP posts:
UniS · 24/05/2008 19:35

waves.
runs past and waves again.
Bit busy this weekend. home from hols yesterday = 3 loads through washing machine already.
AND ran a unicycle meet this afternoon, dh playing cricket tomorrow and its our turn to do teas. not buying materials for this till tomorow incase weather is pants.

Holiday house was lovely. More a BIG three bedroom house than a cottage. dh , boy and I had the master suite with large bed room, anteroom, bathroom ( with double spa bath!) and sauna. Huge living room so lots of room for lego or indoor cricket. indoor pool on site but it was running cold most of the week so only took boy once. Playground OK, duck pond nice. My parents borrowed bikes but they were not good bikes so glad dh and I had taken our own and the trailer. Broke my parents by getting them to cycle to padstow and back ( about 10 miles each way). next day dh and I rode to Eden project and boy went in car with my parents, so we got a nice 12 mile each way ride WITH OUT trailer.
LL-MORE chicken pox! what poxy children we have. no sign of it here yet. Don;t mind if he gets it now, we're not due away for another month now.
Astro-Get the shipping firm to pack for you, then if anything is broken in transit its their fault for not packing it properly.
Good luck with half term for those with school agers.
I'm not looking forward to tuesday when dh goes back to work and boy realises he has a whole day with just me for company.

Astrophe · 26/05/2008 20:12

Glad you had a lovely holiday Uni

Well, we are back from Tissington...not due back until Wednesday, but we got back from pub lunch today to find mates tent had blown down and a pole broken in the wind

It was 5pm, 5 kids needed tea, two babies needed tea and bed, wind was howling...so we called our DHs and mine and one mate's DH came and put the tents down for us while we packed the cars and bailed out

Disapointing, but safer I'm sure. Thank God nobody was in the tent at the time.

We are all going to meet up tomorrow and take the kids out - pretend we are still on holiday.

LL - how is Tilly?

UniS · 26/05/2008 21:14

ooh! about teh tent. sounds like your escape plan was a good one tho. enjoy the last few days of holiday day trips.

We EVENTULLY managed to go swimming today- at teh 3rd atenpt: i- 1st pool no parking spaces and centre heaving with people, ii- 2nd pool, kiddy pool not open till 3 ( this was at 2.30). iii- 2nd pool at 3.30 after going to shops.

HAve had wet bed two night running from boy, sideways wees and too much for nappy to cope with on that angle. Bought 2nd hippy chick protector sheet today.
However have promised boy new swim truncks as not ononly has he out grown his swim nappy he has manged to wee before swimming and again after twice now, so we think not wee'd in pool.
Are ALL kids ravenous after swimming?

Astrophe · 26/05/2008 21:17

Don't know about kids, but I am always ravenous after swimming!

We are having wet beds from our boy too...so many that he is back in nappies at night, which is a shame, but obviously he is not quite ready. We put him back in washables but he wakes every time he wees and cries "wet my trowies", so now we are in huggies pull ups, also a shame, but I like my sleep!

How goes the house selling Uni?

laundrylover · 26/05/2008 22:29

Astro, was thinking about you lot camping as my coleslaw blew off my plate at a garden party yesterday!!! Sorry to had to abandon ship but all for the best I think.

Uni, swimming makes me starving too, we always had to go for chips on the way home when we were kids.

Tilly is hopefully on the mend. I've had 2 nights with her in my bed, waking every hour and then telling me off for putting cream on wrong. Am knackered so should go to bed really. Her pox are awful, loads on her neck and backs of knees - ouch. Look like they're all blistered and popped though now so hope the worst is over.

We have managed to keep away from babies and pregnant ladies all weekend and in doing so have spent a grand on two sofas and an armchair!

Wonder how Friz and family are getting on with camping??

OP posts:
Frizbe · 27/05/2008 10:51

Hello girls! we're back and alive!

at the coleslaw LL, having visions of posh garden party, with everyone drinking out of nice china teacups and floral frocks, with your coleslaw whizzing off and covering granny Of course, I realise that this is totally not the case, but it makes for an amusing vision
for the pox, apparently oats in a sack, in the bath, helps ease things too? Hope Tilly is feeling better with it soon.

Uni, glad you had a nice hols, sound lovely You have 3 pools that close by, wow! glad you got sleep eventually Any movement on the house? BTW I think you did great getting the GP's to cycle at all, you wouldn't get my mum on a bike these days (she'd say she's too old, but reality is just avoids exercise as has dodgy hip)

Astro at Tent, but not surprised, as it was damn windy, hope you had good time, for the bit of time you were there

So we've been working in Soggy Wales all weekend, still can report both girls managed to sit through Nims Island at the cinema on Sunday afternoon, to get us out of the windy cold dampness its an ok film, for the only thing on, but doesn't set the world on fire. However can report dd2 had cinema laughing their socks off at her, for her infections giggling at the trailer for Kung Fu Panda and she managed the whole film with only two toilet breaks and one telling off from the boy in front, when she tried to climb his chair She sat down pretty quick
Very wet yesterday, have one hell of a soggy tent to dry when it eventually stops raining.....lots of trees down blocking roads etc, not nice, one of our lot had a branch through their gazeebo too

UniS · 27/05/2008 20:20

what exciting camping yarns you will all have to dine out on this summer.
We do indeed have 3 public pools in this city, one of them is only at the end of our road but thats the coldest one. I've signed boy up for 7 weeks of swimming lessons there starting on monday! Hope he gets on better than last time.
House- shmouse, have had two more agents round and will be giving our current agent the heave ho at end of tie in. propable droppin the again too. My gut feeling is better to be the smaller cheaper one of 3 in the road with agent B than the larger more expensive one with agent H.
I am in awe that anyone can get their 2.2 yr old to sit througha feature film, I havn;t triied but, unless its non stop tractors , boys a fidget bum after 20 mins TV.

Cadmum · 28/05/2008 10:53

I only have 10 seconds here so I will madly wave to everyone and then run off.

I wanted to post a link to the review that DH wrote about the campsite in Italy: www.mumsnet.com/Reviews/CampingOverseas/61

It was so fun that I wish we were still there.

DH is in NYC and I feel jealous. How ridiculous is that?

Roll on summer leave. We go home for a month on July 12th (after 2 days in London).

Time is more than up. I hope to be back for a catch up this evening after bed time...

Frizbe · 28/05/2008 21:52

Uni I'm still in shock
Boo for your agent being crap, fingers x'd the next one shifts it asap.
Caddy, have read the review, sounds lovely lol at of dh, mind you, NYC is quite nice, I could live there!
