Barcelona....do the Goudi tour it's fab and you'll love La Sagrada Familia (sp??)...try to find Juicy Jones cafe!

We really liked Andorra and camped way up in the mountains. We found a museum of microscopic art too!

Bone church near Prague is cool and Cesky Krumlov is gorgeous too.

Florence - we camped in an olive grove above the town with the best cheese and tomato butties ever. Got very drunk on cheap wine, cut my foot on a bottle (still have scar) and missed a planned day in Sienna due to lying under hedge with terrible hangover. Oh just remembered that San Gimignano (sp??) is amazing too.....

Oh no...I'm going to have DP going through his travel diaries now and we'll be getting itchy feet.

Cripes, everyone is talking about holidays today! the feb thread's been at it too

Ok, let me try and remember from the top.

LL well done on the job and the all clear on the boobs, fingers x'd for the neck lumps
Dd2 refused to go anywhere near a toilet all day today, just so's you know, but she will be hitting the pants soon, I'm just leaving it a bit longer till its a teeney bit warmer, May/June time, plus if she's older she won't argue with my logic as much, I have stubborn kids (wonder where they get that from )

Caddy, well done for emailing, are you still waiting for a reply? please chase up tomorrow. I'll look at your town link in a mo

Astro online always takes ages, and you never expect it to eh Hope you managed the rest of your jobs ok?

Uni, your hols in Copenhagen sounds lovely too, just be warned if you've not been already ladies, that Denmark (or so I've heard) is quite pricy on day to day living, but I've not been myself, that's just what I've heard from my stage mgr mate, whose toured there a few times. at boy in cycling shorts, being like daddy, so cute!

www.bellahoj-camping.dk/ukpladsen.htm

for a campsite fairly central in copenhagen. friend of mine are staying there while we are in DK. i decided we would push the boat out and rent an apartment instead.
Do go to the tivoili gardens & up the round tower, little mermaid isn't worth hunting for.

Frizbe · 19/04/2008 17:20

So where are you all then?

I'm off for dinner and drinkies with old school friends in Brum tonight, not much drink tho, as have to get back home for 9am, so dh can go to work.......(one friend now lives in Brum, so we're all crashing there!)

Cadmum · 19/04/2008 18:20

Friz: Have a fabulous time with your friends. Too bad you need to be back so early...

Our week-end is overbooked with silly events located at opposite ends of Geneva... Baseball, school open-house, English book sale, car boot sale, birthday party, playdate... I should be grateful but I think that this is the beginning of the end for a peaceful spring...

It is awfully quiet in here. I can hear an echo and feel a draught! I hope you are all having too busy a RL to waste time on MN. Cheers everyone!

Cadmum · 19/04/2008 18:22

Astro: did you get my emails? Have I scared you off?

UniS · 19/04/2008 20:39

it was awful quiet for a day or two wasn't it.
Boy was refusing to nap, so I didn;t get to MN much.
Been house hunting again, seen a nice one we like and it not too expensive- IF we can ever sell this one. Trying not to get hopes up toooo far.

g rim wet rainy day. Boy was a star and we had another dry day from him- even tho he was wearing a pull up while we were out. I had restricted his drinks all morning & he only wee'd twice, one on pot at lunch time in pub loo and then in the bathroom of a house we were veiwing. Hurrah.

Astrophe · 19/04/2008 21:36

...

nah, course you didn't caddy, have just been crazy busy! I will reply properly soon. Have borrowed a mates sewing machine for a few days and so am madly trying to get all the things I need to get done finished. Also helping at church Kids' Holiday Club on Wed-Fri...lots of fun but exhausting, then today my Godson's 1st birthday, and baking cookies for Holiday Club BBQ tomorrow. Phew!

Back to nursery this week, although Monday is an inset day. Am hoping for sun so can start as I mean to go on, and walk to nursery pick ups (can't walk to drop offs, as its a 25 min walk, and we are always late as it is!)

Taking DD to Angelina Ballerina in Nottingham next Sat with some friends and their kids.

Friz, hope you had a good night out, Caddy, hope you anaged to get all kids to the correct location, Uni, shall check ot the house now...

Astrophe · 19/04/2008 21:38

looks lovely uni - great views. any movement on the current house then?

UniS · 19/04/2008 21:54

Not a signof movenmet- am wondering if we picked duff agents or if there is just no one buying houses this size in this area. considering dropping asking price now we have seen one we like for a sensible price. We could drop a bit and still afford it.

Frizbe · 20/04/2008 10:06

Uni will look at that house later on today, when I get a sec, as dashing over to my parents with the kids in a mo! Might be worth dropping price a bit, if you can shift house Things are very stagnant here apparently EMids is the worst hit?

Astro, Wiggles are playing Nottm in (June is it?) am going to look into getting tickets today will you still be here then?

Had a lovely night out in Brum, hit the lime and soda at 12:00 as had to get up at 7am to get back here (groan) went to Red Peppers at the Mailbox for cocktails and tea, then onto Red's bar near the Cathedral for drinkies and dancing Good night, great to catch up with the girls, although sad to hear my friends dh has been diagnosed with Parkinsons so they're making the most of his good times at the mo, as it's going to get not nice from here on in (he is 20 years older than her btw)

Astrophe · 20/04/2008 14:12

Glad you had fun Friz - so sad about your friend's DH though

Wiggles - I had a look at tickets but think we will give it a miss as its not cheap for the 4 of us to go, and we really need to save fro the trip - kitting out the van is costing so much. Will see what DH says though - kids would love it! I am thinking of tips so I can enter on here to win though, I won last year...might get lucky again!

UniS · 20/04/2008 21:14

Busy w/end Friz and Astro- I guess teh others too as you aren;t on here...
We had a fab day today. went to a festival of cycling , chatted to people, showed off boys tiny bike, played with werid and wonderful cycles, then went for a ride in the woods with boy in his trailer behind Dhs bike and me on unicycle. Boy seems to like the down hills! much merry shouting of "more bump bump daddy down more down weeeeee." coming from the trailer. Was good to get a few miles on teh uni, I hadn;t riden that wheel size since last summer, all came flooding back tho. OHHH and, I got to try out a Segway vehcle, Odd, rather like skiing. fun, but I wouldn;t buy one, too many wheels.
We must consider gettinga bike rack for teh car, dh had to cycle to the woods while I drove boy and trailer and uni.

laundrylover · 21/04/2008 09:09

Hello ladies,

Just catching up on the thread....you all sound very busy indeed!

Uni, if I were you I'd give your estate agents a kick up the bum - ask them how they are actively selling your house. Get them to put new photos and more descriptions on the website and get some people in to actually look around it!! If you threaten to change agents they should pull their finger out. I really like that house in Zeal BTW - graden looks fab.

Friz, sounds like you had a good night out in Brum - where do you recommend for a meal out - veggie friendly??

Astro - are the girls dressing up for Angelina?

Caddy, you sound mad busy as usual -I honestly don't know how you do it. Did DH's bosses wife ever visit BTW?

We've had a busy weekend -Sat mum and I had an open house at hers on craft stuff from the house clearance - got rid of loads. Then DP and I had a couple of hours at the house cataloguing cameras/tripods and trying to see how much slide stuff there is in the avairy outside - trouble is you can only just get in the door!! Yesterday we had a DAY OUT (with Opal Fruits in the car and EVERYTHING!!!). Went for a pub lunch at Fenny Bentley and then Sudbury Hall and the museum of childhood so that Tilly could go up the chimney many times .

I won't be around much this week as am on an overnight training course on Weds night in Brum and then my friend phoned last night and said she is going to Brum a night early....hasty web searching and we have a room in a hotel with a pool for the Tues night!! Wahey!!

Typically, the weather is picking up though and I will miss a good week for gardening. Ah well.

Cadmum · 22/04/2008 10:49

DS2 home again yesterday and today. This time he has a UTI... Apparently he refuses to use the loo at school. Poor mite will likely have a change of heart now that he is paying for that decision in pain, embarrassment and anti-bs,

I also heard yesterday that there is now a wait-list at his school next year and I am one of the parents that is still undecided about his place so the decision may be made for me... I am sure that I should be more upset about this but dropping him in tears most days and now a UTI is doing my head in so maybe we need to find better alternatives.

I hope that you are all having good weeks.

Uni: Have you spoken with the agents yet? It sounds like they need to be re-motivated!

Frizbe · 22/04/2008 22:30

Uni, the house looks great I really hope you can shift yours. Your day yesterday sounds lovely I miss my bike, my dad kidnapped it when I was preggers with dd1 and attached his fishing stuff to it Dh and I have said we'll get some more, once all the kids are of bikeable age and we can actually 'go' somewhere with them If we ever get a weekend off together again?

LL, erm, I'm no expert on vegi places in Brum although I had enchelada on Sat, which is potato, salsa and cheese, so if that;s good, head for the mailbox like we did?! Enjoy the hotela and pool

Caddy for the UTI, hope its better for ds soon. Like you say, the school thing could be a blessing in disguise, may seem like a pita at the mo, but it is encouraging you to do something about it now!

Astro, I must book the wiggles tomorrow! both dd#s gagging to go and I've not had chance to sort it out.....

Odd things going on here, my dad originally declared at start of week, he was paying for us all to go on a 3day break with him to Mallorca in June, then he rang me back to say he was paying for everyone but dh so I reminded him we couldn't afford to go, hence why we aren't already having a holiday abroad this year......after him obviously haggling with my mum, he rang to say he coulnd't better the offer???? (he damn well could afford it if he wanted too, what he wants is to take the girls away and not have to look after them, hence he'll pay for me to go ) But by this point, dh had decided that him and ss would stay here (ss will be at his mums during the time we're going anyway, but he was going to be paid for) and declared he doesn't want to leave the shop anyway and that I should go, as we'll never hear the end of it from my dad..... so that's what appears to be happening, although nothings booked yet, so at my dad refusing to pay for dh, when in fact he doens't have to pay for me, if he'd just look after the girls himself....but as I'm getting a free 3 day break in hopefully warm weather.

Astrophe · 23/04/2008 10:12

hmmm, that is v weird about your dad Friz - what an odd situation. Still - gift horse and mouths and all that - three days of sunshine will be nice! Not happy about this weather today. Yesterday and the day before we spent in the garden, digging weeds and planting out our ettuce and carrot seedlings, and putting in pea and bean seeds. Was going to make a scarcrow today!

Caddy - poor DS = he sounds pretty unhappy. I hope you can sort something out re schools, and that he recovers from uti soon.

Angelina - the girls are wearing best party dresses (I have made DD a new one with my friends sewing machine. It is extremely poorly made, bt she is so thrilled with it!), and I am making mouse ears on a head band for DD. I think the other girls are wearing tiaras. NOt sure what my friends DS will wear though - maybe will make him some ears as well.

Arrrgh...not in for a good day today. I have lots of phone calls to make to friends at home (kids always act up when I'm on the phone), am dog tired, DH not speaking to me and the kids are squabbling at 10am. . Roll on 7pm!

UniS · 23/04/2008 19:43

what to do about the house... I'm inclined to put in an offer on the house we like and cross fingers and hope this one will sell before all falls apart. I'm trying to work out what photos to add to web site to "explain" this houses unconventional but very practical layout. Suspect we will also drop asking price a bit.

Odd to have your bike kidnapped... how ever your dad sounds a bit odd in other ways too. Guess they are trying to get girls to them sleves for teh fun stuff and you to do teh boring stuff.
I'm soooo glad we didn;t accept invite to Medira with Mil And Fil, they have been there a week and its rained and rained and hotel pool has been closed. At least if its like that in cornwall next month we can come home easily.

Have taken the side off boys cot today! hes loves he idea f having a bed he can climb into himself. As hes not had a day time nap for a week now I'm giving up on them for time being. he will have a rest on the sofa with a dvd fairly happily.
righto- off to see if bbc iplayer is working now.

Frizbe · 24/04/2008 22:14

Uni fingers x'd that you get the offer accepted and your house flogged asap. for 'bed' hope he's behaving in it. at the week of rain and the pool being closed for them.
re my dad, he likes things his way and according to my Gran, the sun shines out of his so you can guess he's been spoilt all his life It really is like dealing with a small child at times or is that just all men?

Astro for the Angelina dresses, hope the weather picks up for your gardening efforts, I've not seen the forecast though?

Bit the bullet and have been potty training dd2 here, yest = 1 wee on potty, today = 1 for me this am (none for Gran all day, including hiding and weeing under the table ) then I came home and one on potty and one on toilet oh and dry all night from both girls (fingers xd for a repeat tonight) So far looking good watch this space for it all going wrong!

Dh in for the snip again tomorrow....fingers x'd it works this time. Oh and holiday booked by parents, so looks like I'm there for the bits they don;t want to do, but eh, its sun, fingers x;d.

Astrophe · 24/04/2008 23:44

made DD's Angelina ears - it has taken me 3 hours (including cocoa drinking and faffing), so have decided not to make any for mate's DS. I'm sure he'll cope!

We made our scarecrow and got all the seeds in. Now the kids want to go up the back to check on the seeds about 5 times a day!

LOL Friz and the weeing under the table! DS had a paddy today because I wouldn't let him go outside in the rain to see on the "Da-dills" (daffodills) - he is much keener to wee on flora than on the toilet at the moment! Also, DS was sick all over me this am (in my bed!), but been ok today, so hopefully was nothng.

Caddy, I WILL reply to your email...just being a slacker - sorry , somehow I always get around to MNing, and rarely to replying to email.

Uni - hows the bed going? and the pants?

UniS · 25/04/2008 08:17

bed - so far so good. Pants- what pants, still going comando, might try pants again tomorrow.
LOL at wee on da-dils, boy likes teh idea of stand up weeing but hasn't managed to do it yet. Otherwise its all going better than expected, he will regress some time I'm sure.
Off to take 2nd look at house today, unfortunatly looks like I have to take boy, he was going to play with BF but BF has been throwing up.
Hope all enjoy angelina, mouse ears or no. surgest getting them pyhsically tired before the show so they will stay sat down.

Frizbe · 25/04/2008 22:21

Uni fingers x'd house lovely still then and ds wasn't too much of a pain whilst you were trying to look round?

Astro, yay for scarecrow and ears

dd2 doing well on training here, dry last night again as was dd1, so both having a good effect on each other She did very well on toilet at nursery today, they took her to loo every half hour and everything but the poo went in hurrah! she's been great tonight, wore a nappy upto Leeds to get ss, waited till we got there and went on loo at ss's mums and has been again when we got back, I really can't belive how easy this is appearing so far, when's the setback going to come??? dd1 was ages to train, its all very odd?

dh has had snip today, is lying in bed feeling sorry for himself, fingers x;d its worked this time.

Cadmum · 27/04/2008 18:56

Friz: Your dh may be my hero! I cannot imagine getting my dh in there once now that he has read your story. I sure hope that your dh's recovery is quick and that it works this time!

Uni: Did you like the house as much the second time through? I knew with our house (bought and sold many years ago now ) that we had to have it on the second visit. I hope you have a clearer plan now.

Astro: No worries about the email. I am pathetic at staying in touch via email normally. I did see the campsite in Morgues the other day and it looked good. It is right on the lake. DH agrees that you ought to stay in our drive to save pennies though. (Did I already mention that you are welcome to the washing machine and tumble dryer located in a huge laundry room and the two bathrooms to say nothing of the extra beds where you would be most welcome to rest your weary bones?

LL I hope you had a fab time in Brum... I could use a night in a hotel with a pool and I may follow your example when my friend is through Geneva at the end of May.

I am thinking about training to be a doula... I say thinking only because the logistics of childcare here for a job that requires so much flexibility. There are so many expats that have to have their first baby far from friends and family that it seems like a good option for here.

UniS · 27/04/2008 19:27

Hi Caddy- yes , still like the house on 2nd look, noticed teh cat smell more tho... but think that would shift with a- no cat, and b- a steam clean of the carpets. Willbe putting in an offer subject o the usual and our releaseing the capital we need by selling this house.

Poor boy has 2 black eyes. we went to the rec ground before veiwing house, he chased a big boy, triped and landed nose 1st on a climbing frame. OUCH. Is also a V tired boy, went to bed early last night( 7ish), didn't wake up till 10am. HAs gone to bed at 7 again tonight. He has dropped the day time nap and it seems the effect is catching up on him.

Friz-Good vibes to your dh, hope the right bits heal quick and the wrong bits dont re-join.
