Sorry, best I could come up with in between making tea and trying to get Lils off to bed before the football starts...

twelveyeargap · 08/02/2008 00:08

Turn off the monitor, if you have one Pebble. What you don't know won't hurt you. If she gets upset you'll hear about it.

Don't suppose you can get a few days off M2LB? Would the doctor sign you off sick, even? A rest would really do you good. Mind you, how much of a rest can you get with your two lovely terrors? Maybe work is easier!

twelveyeargap · 08/02/2008 00:10

LG&T - I notice you don't trust me with Hugs' hair and a pair of scissors!

I got away with A's hair. DH noticed, but felt bad for abandoning us for a few days so he let it go.

mom2latinoboys · 08/02/2008 00:51

TYG-- work is easier than my adorable little terrors. Today was hard because I found out what it's like to be a single mom. Get up with the kids rush to get everything done before we leave. Get everyone in the car drop the kids off make sure they've eaten breakfast at my sil's. go to work, work (Forgot to pee today because there was so much to do) then get off work, pick up kids, get kids dinner, bathed and ready for bed. Now I'm eating dinner and checking internet, will go to bed soon, and dh is still not home from work today.

I tell you I miss my mom, and if my sil wasn't so wonderful I don't know what I would do.

Physically I'm feeling fine (everyone that knows keeps asking me how I feel). I'm great, and emotionally I'm fine most of the time. I'll feel better when this bleeding stops though.

Ahh the sound of quiet in the house.

twelveyeargap · 08/02/2008 08:34

I remember it well. The panic of getting to and from work. BUT, I had far less housework to do as a single mother because I actually tidy up after myself.

DH is rubbish and since he's so rubbish, it's difficult to be strict with S about tidiness.

You know the way you spend money on your children's toys and you lovingly get excited when you give them to the children? Isn't it a kick in the head, when their favourite toy is some cheap plastic thing that came out of a Christmas cracker?

A LOVES this little thing that has a velcro ball and a little paddle to "catch" the velcro ball. She carries it around, examines it, shows it to people and studiously ignores all her own stuff.. It's very funny.

cinnamontam · 08/02/2008 09:03

Hey all. Had an interesting night with Tild. She's been feeding 3-4 times in the night so I'm exhausted. Last night thought I'd try water out of her bottle I used for expressed breast milk way back when she was little. She wasn't that interested in it, pushed it away most of the time but otherwise went back to sleep after each waking period (about 3 of them) except for 1 period of 1.5 hours from 3-4.30am when she just muttered and grumbled and fidgeted. But the end result is she didn't actually need a feed from 11pm to 7:30am and so it's definitely a habit we are dealing with here and NOT hunger. So will just keep trying and hope she gives up and just sleeps through. That would be FAB

cinnamontam · 08/02/2008 09:07

Have embarrassing question for you all. I'm sitting here feeling like a pile of poo as I have a boil on my bottom Has anyone used any good natural remedies to get rid of them before? I've read the juice of garlic and onion is good. It's making me feel unclean, fat and gross...

TillyScoutsmum · 08/02/2008 09:20

Morning ladies... Had a bad night last night. Til has a hideous cough and kept coughing herself awake every 45 minutes. I'm not even sure if it might be croup ? Its a very weird sounding cough - almost like a little dog barking Finally gave in and gave her a dose of Calpol Night at 1 am ish and then she slept through until 6.30 ish

LG&T - really sorry to hear about your chicken - pesky b
bloomin foxes. Is your dh and his p*ss available now ?

Hugs to the ladies who need it and a big hearty dose of adrenaline to get the exhausted ones through the day

Off to mainline some coffee

Nataz27 · 08/02/2008 09:43

Morning all. Em slept till 6 this morning . Cried a couple of times and we thought 'oh no here we go again' but wait she stopped, ah the wonderful sound of silence. Lets see how today goes though.

Am really p'd off this week . Bought some nappies of MN about 2 weeks ago, am still waiting. Why cant people just send stuff after you bought it. She better not be dodgy. How hard is it to go to the post office..

LG&T hope you and your brood are feeling better this morning.

TYG will have a go at the hair cutting in the bath. Will wait till dh can hold her still, just in case. Dont want her to end up bald!

TSM sounds like it could be croup. I would get her checked in case. Apparently when some are teething they can get a cough that sound just like croup so might be that. Awful when they keep waking themselves up tho - big hug.

JW cant be any madder than me. Just invited my mum around - defo insane lol!

scootermum · 08/02/2008 13:18

Hey all,

Im available for babies hair cuts..as long as you dont mind the odd mistake There is a bit behind Lils ear that I now see does not look quite so good but am banking on no one looking there.

Glad to hear yu are ding so well JW..Fingers crossed for your viewings...

Commiserations on the bad nights sleep for those that had..M generally sleeps like a log..its Lil thats up all night nowadays..galling..she used to go 7-7 every night, now thats about every third night if we are lucky..the others she's in her bed, or im in hers..and no sleep is had by anyone..

Thanks so much for all the offers of help on Mon..you are all so lovely...but DH is going to 'work' from home and stay with the girls..although boss did say I could bring someone with me..(think she meant the traditional 'work based colleague' or union rep)Only imagine her face if I turned up with you all on my side..Like rent a mob of Mums...it would be fab..

I see what you mean re the money TYG..It would be a lucrative few months of work you'd be doing..but can you be bothered..dont even dare to think about getting on your scooter to get there either if you do decide to go back!Have you still got it?

Have just been to the dry cleaners to get my new (and so lovely, honestly I love them to distraction)wide leg jeans taken up.£11!And back in 2 weeks! You must be joking I said..I only want an inch of the bottom!
Anyone got a sewing machine and want to do my lovely trews in time for tomorrow night?

Right off to town farm now with kids and taking my preggers friends boy too so she can have a break..we shall see if I come back in one piece..two toddlers, a baby, and a Mum with a bad back,(have cricked it yet again!) may not mix so well with lively farm animals!
What I need is lgandt, the chicken charmer

OP posts:
mom2latinoboys · 08/02/2008 13:48

Tam --I had a boil on my leg once when I was 14. It took me hours but I finally popped that thing open. It oozed puss every where. And then (simply because I'm a massochist) I took tweezers and then rummaged through it. I took out the nastiest black chunk you've ever seen.

It was so cool. My sister was watching me in awe of how I could do that on my own. And today we still talk about as being one of the coolest things we've ever seen.

So go on pop that boil (or have someone pop it for you) and see what's in there.

Pebblemum · 08/02/2008 14:13

Thanks M2LB I no longer fancy my chicken and mushroom soup lol

Well I have finally bought my new suite, different to the one I had been looking at online but still black. Its getting delivered...........tomorrow aaagghh!!! Was expecting it to take at least a week which would have given us time to paint but they had space on the lorry tomorrow and silly dh said it was fine. The new carpet isnt even here yet, talk about doing everything arse about face!!!

A finally fell asleep at 1.30am and still woke at 7.30, shes been asleep most of the morning though and is sat in my arms now having a cuddle which isnt like her, normally shes racing around the room causing mayhem, so she is obviously still a bit tired

LG&T sorry to hear about the chickens, hope dh gave up some of his wee and kept the fox at bay

Juicylucytoo · 08/02/2008 15:13

Tam, when DH gets boils he only finds relief once he's lanced them. Not sure what the medical advice on this is though.

Hope you feel better soon x

twelveyeargap · 08/02/2008 15:15

(Though I have to admit to picking and rummaging at ingrown hairs on by bikini line.)

Definitely get the croupy cough checked. See if you can be seen this evening, so you're not worrying all weekend.

Possibly good news on the work front. HR finally rang to say they haven't forgotten about me. The woman is in touch with payroll to see if they can swing maternity pay for me with me going straight on a new "leave" without going back. I wonder if the fact I got paid a bonus might help, given that it's "earnings". We'll see. She said she'd be back in touch on Tuesday.

Have been to A&E today. A fell over whilst clutching a tube of hand cream (of all things) and rather than let go, she fell on her head. Only from standing, but it sounded awful enough for me to say, "OH POOR YOU! That was a NASTY one." Rubbed her head to discover a soft swelling where she'd hit it. Rang NHS direct who said you should go in if there's swelling. She's absolutely fine. It's just a bad bruise. They didn't xray as they don't like to unless they believe there could be a fracture, to save them the radiation exposure. Feel a bit for her, despite her being quite chipper. Ibuprofen for a few days and only need to go back if she starts any serious vomiting. In and out in about two hours so I reckon we got off lightly. Thank heavens for the triage system.

twelveyeargap · 08/02/2008 15:20

Lavender oil, straight on the skin is great by the way, for skin ailments. It can actually cure a wart. I used it on S when we were on a waiting list to have a whole cluster of warts frozen off her arm. The over the counter remedies wouldn't touch them, but lavender oil had them gone in 10 days.

Also tea tree oil. Alternate hot and cold compresses. Another remedy is a white bread compress. Soak bread in warm milk, apply to boil for about 15 mins, four times a day. Supposed to draw out infection.

mom2latinoboys · 08/02/2008 15:32

It's till more fun to pop them though

cameroonmama · 08/02/2008 16:30

M2LB you are gross

Julie, good to hear you sounding so chipper, sorry about the dream house but you would have hated it really in the long run, it wasn't the right one, same goes for you April Good luck on the offers...

TYG, you jammy jammy old thing, I want to work for a company like yours, remind who it is again they may be looking for someone now Could pay for a trip to oh say Australia .

J has been absolutely so happy today, he is so pleased to be moving, he has been chuckling and talking away, eating a mountain and trying to say 'bye' and wave his fat cute little hands. One thing he can't do is sit back up again once he is crawling, how long does that take to learn after he has started crawling?

Life here is a little busy at the moment as I am trying to get bits of furniture made at ridiculously low prices. A friend and I went to the this amazing shop today with fantastic furniture and pottery, just to die for, but the small plates were about a tenner a pop Who would think it was a developing nation?

LG&T, any more incidents today? Sending you good anti fox vibes.

mom2latinoboys · 08/02/2008 17:17

Cam, with Cruz it was a matter of days that he sat up again after crawling.

Speaking of Cruz and moving. he is sooo funny. When he stands up he lets go of one hand, and you can just see him watching things and thinking about how he's going to get there. He has a plotting look on his face. He refuses to take any steps, but he is so determined to get where he's going, I wouldn't be surprised if he walked next month.

scootermum · 08/02/2008 19:30

No crawling here..except by Mummy..am in agony with back now..have shooting pains all down my bum and legs..sodding sciatica..it wsant even this bad when I was pregnant..DH is at his bowling night so no help..have bundled the kids off to bed, (bless them, both down, asleep straight away, so far, so good)and am just going to put L's coat through the wash (she managed to fall in some poo at the farm today)then crawl in to bed with a warm cherry pillow..

Thats a winner with the work TYG..Hope that comes off for you...poor old A..glad she is ok..

Mtlb..that really is a grim boil story..what have you done about it Cam..am strangely intrigued

I love it when Men take cahrge of the decorating Pebble..you just know it will be 9 times harder than it should be..I refuse to let DH have anything to do with planning or ordering our new kitchen as it would go so tits up if he did..

I hope you are being careful over there Cam,all this shopping and gadding about...(you mind or will use my stern Mummy voice on you and we know what effect that has)

Bug Hello to everyone else..

OP posts:
Pebblemum · 08/02/2008 19:33

Alana is the same, only she will go as far as letting go with both hands then when she falls she looks at me as if I've pushed her lol. E walked at 9months and we think she will do the same, god help us then

TYG will have to go and get some lavender oil tomorrow, J has a lovely big wart on his finger and the muck the dr prescribed didnt make an ounce of difference.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/02/2008 20:17

Peace offering for doing the MIA again!! Tis really very bad of me and I have slapped my own hands. (No stern Mummy voice needed thanks scoot)

Feck........... It's busy in ere at da moment. Not sure where to start, have done a skim catch up I appologise, I normally read everyday even if I don't get chance to post but I haven't even lurked since my last post.

The sickness and dirraroeah diaroeah dioreah bugger, the runs went round all of us. It has not been a nice 10 days. Maddie started it all off, h went down with it the next day but both were better within 24hrs. Had a clear weekend and then it came back to bite the whole household on Monday evening. It has been a week of duvet days, puke buckets, bleach and lots of tummy ache. Was not my cooking! We are all just about at the end of it now I think, Jorja still has the runs but hasn't been sick since last night, she has been on rehydration stuff for the last 3 days! We tried to reitroduce her milk yesterday to be showered by it again last night so back to the water. Fortunately she is drinking 7oz of sugared water every few hours with no problems. It has left us all exhausted this week. The only good thing to come out of it is that I lost an easy 3lb

Oh Oh, I noticed newbies!! how lovely! Welcome Tilly and Nat, sorry I am a little late.

PMSL at M2LB and the boil popping and a slight chuckle at TYG's bikini line picking. Bet you won't be able to do that soon!
Poor A and her trip to A&E, I hope she is OK now!

JW, M2LB been thinking about you.

Ma Larkin, how's J? hope the pox stays away! Will try to give you a ring soon for a natter.

Cam thank you for the text.

AM deal or No deal?

germ free kisses to every lovely May Mummy.

Nataz27 · 08/02/2008 20:28

F**K doesnt look like I got the library job. Damn damn damn.. Why do they wait till friday and then ruin your weekend. Dh is gonna have to get another job at this rate. Rang temp office and they got nothing as well. Tesco checkout is calling me

Mrsjaffa that sounds awful, hope you all feel better soon.

Not sure I want my tea now I've read about boils and poo.. gross. Oh well just the wine for me then, shame lol!

SM might need you for the hair cut, Em was positively hyper on the bath today, how the hell am I meant to cut her hair without removing her nose in the process. Wonder if I can do it in her sleep, probably not

TSM hows the cough? Did you see the doc.

Hope everyone has a good night, big hug to all

cinnamontam · 08/02/2008 21:47

Thanks guys - I'm a dig around and see what's in there kind of gal M2LB but I have to be able to reach it first! I just want to sort it myself so I don't have to go to a doctor on Monday and have them do it

I might give the lavender and tea tree oil a go - thanks TYG 'oh font of all knowledge of stuff' xx

Pebblemum · 08/02/2008 22:18

So who has done the lottery tonight. Just checked the results on the website (couldnt be bothered to wait) and I have got a grand total of....1 number Guess I wont be going out tomorrow to look for a new house to go with the new sofa

Shouldnt be suprised really, have only managed to win about 4 £10's since the lottery began and the only comps I ever win are poo, last prize was a Journey South CD (and no I didnt keep it, gave it to MIL, she sold it on ebay for the grand total of £1.79 plus postage lol)

AbbyLou · 09/02/2008 09:31

Morning all - this talk of boils etc made me feel quite ill at this time on a Saturday morning!!
Had a few spare minutes so I've added some new pictures to my profile. I've even dared to add the pics of Charlie's birthday cake. I know it's not quite up to LG&T standards but I was very proud of my first attempt. Looking back at my other pictures makes me realise how much my los have changed in such a short time. Time flies doesn't it?
Well it's a beautiful day here today but we'll be stuck inside for a bit as ds has a birthday party at a dreaded playcentre. One of his little friends is 3 today. Hopefully we'll get outside this afternoon for some fresh air. Anyway, off to make the most of it and out my washing out.

cinnamontam · 09/02/2008 10:23

Gorgeous photo's Abbylou Such beautiful kids!!

We are off to meet a friend in Paddington for Dim Sum....yum!! Can't wait till give Tilda a taste of the Orient.
