Sorry, best I could come up with in between making tea and trying to get Lils off to bed before the football starts...

I know what you mean about dough - we can just about manage on DP's income but obviously have to make sacrifices etc.. Some extra money would really help. I love being with T all day but I'm really not into domestic stuff and I feel a bit of a fraud being at home and being so slobby with housework etc.

How about an estate agents ? They quite often have admin/reception type jobs with flexible hours

Nataz27 · 07/02/2008 15:59

Oo I havent tried them, not sure where I would find posts. Worth a look.

To tell you the truth, it would be nice to go to work and have some time that doesnt involve looking after Em. Need a reason to start looking after myself again.

Need some of LG&T's magic to wear off on me lol

scootermum · 07/02/2008 16:16

Oh I hope you dont get her again TYG...

It was alarming BBB...very..and the smell of burnt hair is vile...I want bees too!..I wondered how neighbours would take it, but apparently they can be very unobtrusive-the bees not the neighbours..though maybe not ideal with young kids

Mt cousin does a minim tots franchise thingy TM...She really enjoys it as it gets her out a bit meeting different people, she earns some spends and can take her lo's with..so it might be a goer if you dont need somewthing thats going to pay you a super salary..

M has now entered the grabby stage in a big way..her current fave is my face, my hair..gaah..I cant even have a cup of tea without wedging her at the other side of the room so she doesnt roll over and start plucking at it..Im forever saying 'Hot Tea' in my stern Mummy voice..I even said it to DH last night by mistake!

Ooo yes, I would love to be the person that shows everyone round the houses..Im so nebby, I would love to see round all the houses..but I wouldnt be so good at the hard sell I dont think...I would like to be a driving instructor but it takes about a year and a half to train and costs about £4 k..and Ive neither the time or the cashingo..

We all need some of that magic N..but id settle for some of her cake...her buns are lighter than air..(her cakes I mean, im not back on the porn

OP posts:
cameroonmama · 07/02/2008 16:22

Perhaps dh likes the sound of stern mummy Scoot? Tell us the truth now, I bet he got all hot under the collar on hearing your stern mummy voice and pulled you over your romantic candles for a bit of hows your father. Its obvious, thats how come you singed your hair.

scootermum · 07/02/2008 16:29

Omygod...have you got some sort of web cam access to my house Cam?!

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 07/02/2008 16:33

Cam you are normally so sedate

Nat nice pics, she has a mass of lovely hair!

I am not going back to work for the forseeable future, dh Navy so would have to have a nanny for the crazy working hours i would do.

Benson dh was talking about Bee's the other day too! I said perhaps not just yet, chickens are creating enough hassle so far. They keep escaping I go out and give them stern words but they just cluck at me

Must go and put the fish pie in the oven, the kids will be eating each other soon.

cameroonmama · 07/02/2008 16:43

It's all that talk of Top Gear porn, I feel all flustered

LG&T, out here, you know, people just let the chickens escape - they always find their way home

I can see them now, in the carpark of the petrol station at the end of your road, scaring the beejesus out of any tom dick or SOH who stops for a quick pee in the bush...

cameroonmama · 07/02/2008 16:47

It's been raining here in paradise. That wasn't part of the deal. Consquently our electric fence is shorting at a place where the carport roof drips onto it, is that a bad thing do you think? At least the burglars will know its for real

I have finally uploaded some pics, my connection is a bit slow..

love the new baby pics, too cute.

juliewoolie · 07/02/2008 18:14

bloody nora off for a day and 4 pages to catch up on.

twelveyeargap · 07/02/2008 18:47

Shit, shit, shit. Was IM-ing DH about the cut in interest rates, which saves us absolutely loads a year and saying it was great. And then he pointed out how much the actual yearly cost of the mortgage is. And I said tongue-in-cheek, "Maybe I should go back to work". But of course you can't effing tell it's tongue-in-cheek on IM and he thinks I'm serious. Oh bugger, bugger, bugger. RETREAT! RETREAT!

And I'm buggered at work too, because I should officially, be back on 1st April, but I'm not even back from Australia until the 19th! Eek.

Nataz27 · 07/02/2008 19:14

Ahhhhhh.........well shes in bed at last. Tried all day with no luck. She better stay there or I'll be the one with the stern words. Dh still not home, must have got lost in Asda. I never trust him to go shoping but I dont drive so its easier... always fun to see what he managed to forget!

LG&T - thanks, its a bugger to wash tho, esp when she was tiny. For the first few weeks she had a big sticky up tuft in the middle, just couldnt get the baby goo out of it. Now its too long but fat chance of getting her to keep still to cut it.

SM - at least your lo just grabs mine loves slapping esp on the top of your head, oh and pulling ears. Shes so strong, I should be covered in bruises by now. Although she did manage to give me a nose bleed. Arent kids great lol

largeginandtonic · 07/02/2008 19:20

Well my evening is just tickety boo, farcking NOT, i am starting a thread in chat...

AbbyLou · 07/02/2008 19:20

Whoops TYG, looks like you'll have some grovelling to do.
LGT those chicken jackets are hilarious. You are definitely insane, I can't believe you now have chickens as well as all those children.
Welcome to Nat, it must be the season for new faces. You're very welcome here.
JW glad you are back. Hpoe you are beginning to feel ok. Shoot that nurse though.
Tilly I can recommend the teacher route. I teach in an infant school and I love my job. It is so rewarding but incredibly hard work -especially full time with two kids. The work you have to do in the evenings/weekends/holidays is the worst part but overall it's a lovely job and you have more time off than most to spend with your los.
Talking of work I need some inspiration from you guys. On March 6th it is World Book Day and we have to dress up as book characters. So, not only do I need ideas for my self this year but C has to dress up too. Help!!! What could we be. I need something with very minimum effort and I am as unartisitc as it gets. Last year I was a very pregnant Bad Tempered Lady, well actually I was just bad tempered but I disguised myself as a ladybird!!

AbbyLou · 07/02/2008 19:21

Oh dear I meant Bad Tempered Ladybird!!! Obviously!!

scootermum · 07/02/2008 19:31

What he wants you to go back to work TYG?
But there is hardly any point..you will soon be having another bambino..no no..tell him Scoot says no..

Its a very wide remit Abby!(I LOVE dressing up)(not sexually )Does it have to be kids books?

I have given Lily what, if I do say so myself, is a very beautiful hair cut tonight..she loves having her hair cut oddly and sits still whilst its being done admiring herself in the mirror..have given her a little bob, shaped into the neck, lightly feathered around the face..am very proud of self Vical Sa-Scoot!
M's is a lost cause, (like mine),it stands up every which way in tufts..I hope it calms down else she will end up with serious hair envy if Lils stays smooth and blonde like it is now..But at least Mummy will be able to empathise, oh my sodding hair..

Someone pass the wine... think I need a big glass

largeginandtonic · 07/02/2008 19:41

TYG nooooooo, your job is too stressful, no work for you. I will write you a midwife's note shall i?

Dear Mr TYG,

Please excuse Mrs TYG from work because she is far too precious and in such a delicate condition to be working.

Thanks muchly

largeginandtonic Midwife lady

Scoot clever you with the hair cut, Hugs needs his fringe trimmed it keeps getting in his eyes. Have you a spare mo?

Julie my lovely how are you? Hope the pain is ok and things went smoothly. We have all been thinking of you. How is little A?

cinnamontam · 07/02/2008 19:58

WELCOME Nat and Tilly Lovely to have you onboard.

Scoot - I live 10 mins drive from Hammersmith and free on Monday at 11am. Can I help you out at all?? You could park at my place and then bus it in (10 mins journey tops!). The girls and I could sit in a Starbucks or something. Let me know xx

AprilMeadow · 07/02/2008 21:23

Just a quick one TYG I have my maternity dress that i wore last December.... Its by Formes and i wore it twice. Yours if you want it

twelveyeargap · 07/02/2008 21:58

Scoot, I don't know why I didn't think of it before Tam said that. I only have the midwife coming on Monday, so if you wanted to drive to me and then get the Picallilly Line from Bounds Green, I could help out as well. My mobile is dead atm and charger not working. Will charge in the car on the way to Yorkshire tomorrow night, so do text me if you need me.

Gutted about your animals LG&T.

Nat - mine has loads of hair too. She's had three or four hair cuts. I do it when she's in the bath and then rinse off the little hairs with the shower attachment. It also took me ages to get the blood and goo out of her hair when she was born. Eww.

AM - That's really kind, but I'm a big biffer. Size 14. Your lovely skinny person's clothes unlikely to fit me thinks.

The thing about work. If I go back for long enough to qualify for statutory maternity pay, then I also qualify for occupational maternity pay, which is 6 months salary.
It's not to be sniffed at. I could put a fiver to it and pay off my credit cards. Am hoping that I can go in and negotiate some sort of settlement instead, on the basis that it will be a pain in the arse for the company to either try to keep my job, or find me a different job "when I come back" and then I'll say to boss that I'm not sure I could guarantee I'd want to come back full time which opens a whole new can of worms. Plus, the temp can't be kept as a temp for longer than a year, so they'd either need to make her permanent and find me something else, or I'd have to recruit and train a new temp after being off for a year and feelingmy way myself. Try to make it sound like I'm helping them out. Don't know if it will fly though. Will be a pain if I have to try to find a temporary nanny or something and go back for two months AND try to negotiate a full three weeks "holiday" at the end of the maternity leave because I'll be in Australia. Jaysus. I'm sweating just thinking about the conversation. If I wasn't pregnant again, I'd be going in to resign most likely and that would be that, but with the opportunity of a possible new lot of maternity pay, you can't help getting a bit greedy. Is that terrible? I always said it was a bit much to plan to get up the duff before you come back to work and here I've managed it without evne meaning to. The company has just lost $10bn. I'm sure they're just dying to give me free money.

There's no question of going back after #3. Childminding or nursery full time would cost about £100 a day at best. I'd be working for nothing. Probably paying to work, really. Would be ok if I was still able to do loads of overtime, but you can't with small kids.

juliewoolie · 07/02/2008 22:46

Right think I have caught up.

LG&T posted in chat.

Jeez where to start, first of all am doing great no pain and hardly any bleeding emotionally good.

Crap balls about our dream home the big one which we offered on and accepted on has gone someone offered more than us and they were ready to go straight away so we have lost out. The good news is that the smaller of the 2 dream homes is still avaliable so hoping we can get that one instead and even better news is that as its about 10grand cheaper we can afford carpets and curtains. Still no offers my end although we had a 2nd viewing earlier and another 2nd tom crossing fingers they both offer and start a bidding war, ha like thats going to happen but cross fingers.

Now you lot,

welcome welcome to Nataz as am sure you have realised we are mad.

Tilly typical LG&T already getting you to divulge your innermost porn secrets.

AM gutted about your house hope the next one goes through for you.

TYG what is this nonsense about going back to work but if you do dont forget I used to nanny am happy to have A for you as long as you are aware that I do spend an innordinate amount of time on mumsnet and watching daytime telly oh and sitting in starbucks. But I am very reliable and have good refs.

Scoot singed hair, candles, whispering sweet nothings into DP's ears. Dear god dont tell us you have a romantic life. Oh and if you need help monday just bellow.

PJ job interview go for it my lovely.

Abbey, why dont you go as Paddington bear big coat and hat to hide behind?!

although I do have a little soft spot for The Stig

Cam J looks so cute all little fat rolls in his t-shirt ooh you could just squidge him all up.

Sure I have missed loads sorry.

Much love to everyone,oh and forgot my monster after pooing in the bath tonight yuegghh, he was attempting to crawl around his bedroom he grabbed hold of his cot and pulled himself up. Super proud of him totally forgave the pooing incident.

mom2latinoboys · 07/02/2008 23:56

Hey all just got home from work and am exhausted the kids are crazy, and I've done nothing interesting today.

Last bloodtest tomorrow morning and then hopefully I can put these last two weeks behind me.

Pebblemum · 07/02/2008 23:59

Does anyone want A, she is being a total pain and wont sleep. I have tried everything but she is having none of it, shes not even showing signs of tiredness. Instead she is sat in her cot chatting away to herself and clapping (its actually quite sweet same its so late )
