More scaremongering. I remember a friend calling NHS Direct as she had given her bby slightly too much Calpol. NHS Direct said, 'do you know how much you would actually have to give to overdose a baby as it is so mild'.

I always think some of the labelling is confusing as it says 4 times a day, and then no more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Lexie is pickled at the mo as I give her normal Calpol at night for her teeth. Her liver will not thank me.

I know LG & T is a big fan of Medised and its definitely more effective than Calpol, but it makes L so drowsy that I find it a bit alarming. Calpol doesn't seem to make her sleepy at all.

mom2latinoboys · 28/03/2008 11:38

Hi all, they have been doing that with the medicines here and there is talk that it will be taken off the shelves. You know why there is such a big deal. Because parents give medication to their children just to make them sleep, not because they're sick. So many infants die because the parents give them allergy medication and they overdose. That is what started the uproar over here.

TillyScoutsmum · 28/03/2008 11:39

We could do with an optic of Calpol Night here... I'm a big fan. Til voms on Medised but Calpol Night does the trick. Drowsy is good

TillyScoutsmum · 28/03/2008 11:40

What an unfortunate x post Promise I only give it if she's actually ill and not just to make her sleep (she's slept through about 4 times in 11 months !)

Mum2G · 28/03/2008 12:22

just to say pebble and lgt, can do wednesday now if prefer

what a miserable rainy day

i am sat scouring rightmove for properties around swindon that don't cost a fortune!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 28/03/2008 14:46

Oh my god, I have missed you all.

Just so hectic...... will catch up tonight and post, promise!!!!!!
Haven't even skimmed or lurked for days.
Most unlike me!!

AbbyLou · 28/03/2008 18:00

Hi all, hooray it's Friday. Beena short week this week, only one more to go and then it's the holidays!! We've not got anything planned as dh will be at work for most of it but it will just be nice to spend some time with the kids and chill out. I've got all my planning to do for next half term but I'm hoping to get all that done this week so keep the holidays free. YTalking of school, I can now officially tell you all that our school got Outstanding for Ofsted. We are so chuffed with ourselves and it makes all our hard work so much more worthwhile. It's great to be recognised by something 'official'!

cameroonmama · 28/03/2008 19:08

God I go away for 2 days and look at this place

cameroonmama · 28/03/2008 19:27

I don't know where to start...

Well done Abby! That is really fabulous news, lets hope Anneme comes back with a similar tale.

LG&T, finger's crossed my lovely. Sending lots of KK-soothing thoughts. As for straight or curly, personally I rather like the curly you How is the adorable Hugs getting on now at Playschool??

Julie - get packing! Ehhhhmmm, top tips please on how to stop a puppy biting a baby I'm supposed to get ours tomorrow and its tipping it down with rain, a total mudbath out there, the darn thing is going to have to be in the house, what have I let myself in for??

Fingers crossed Sky - sending you the anti-chicken pox vibe. If you can find a clinic that has them/be willing to pay for it, you can get a varicella vaccine...

Scoot I hope the little monsters darlings are right as rain soon, sorry about the builders, we will need some pics of the new kitchen soon to poke holes admire their handiwork.

Poor little J, seems to be suffering with conjunctivitis, a rotten cold and new teeth. Still, he doesn't complain much. He is going to make someone such a good husband.

It was ds1's birthday yesterday, an enormous 4 years old. So we went to another national park and admired more animals, had a picnic and then stayed the night in a hotel that ussed to be Joy Adamson's of Born Free fame house. Now its a conservation centre, but is full with tat memorabilia of her and George and all the lions and animals they rehabilitated. Quite fascinating. In the little museum was the dress she wore to the Royal premiere of the film and it was almost identical to the one old Queenie wore too Imagine your embarrasment to be caught wearing the same outfit

The dc got to stay up late, looking for the hippos who wander up the grass after dark.

Now we are back at home with three weeks of school holidays stretching out interminably into the future...

JamInMyWellies · 28/03/2008 19:41

MWAHAHAHAHAHA you fool cam

Will post some of my useless briliant tips after I have scoffed my dinner.

Juicylucytoo · 28/03/2008 21:05

Evening all

Right, Gave up Bfing in Feb. Had my first AF 27th Feb. Now due the next one, but no sign. Were your AF's all over the place after giving up BFing?

Only BD'd day 5 and 23, so REALLY not likely that I'm pg and certainly don't feel it.

SKYTVADDICT · 29/03/2008 08:23

JL - I only had one period when C was six months and I hadn't given up b/f but he was mostly weaned and only fed 3/4 times a day. I was pregnant by the next period and was certainly not expecting it!

Getting used to the idea now though and actually saw the lo moving for the first time last night! Everyone else had gone to bed though so couldn't share the experience.

Lots to do this weekend as working all next week so better get on!!

Juicylucytoo · 29/03/2008 08:57

Sky how exciting. I remember when O moved for the first time. I loved him moving. I would love to be pg again but not getting my hopes up. I have a hunch that AF will make an appearance today or tomorrow.

Have a lovely Saturday x

Mrsjaffabiffa · 29/03/2008 10:15

OK, I'm useless..... my promise was made with my legs crossed. Why are there not enough hours in the day anymore?
I don't even do anything so why do I have not time. Have to go to the loft to rumage now. Will try to get back later as long as dh doesn't hog the PC like he did last night.

largeginandtonic · 29/03/2008 17:03

I too hate smears and have a slight phobia of them, i find pain killers beforehand help immensely.

Cin of course you can home! Would love to have you, email me for my addy [email protected]

MrsJB you are slacking.... >

Mrsjaffabiffa · 29/03/2008 21:38

Right, I've caught up..............;can't remember what I was going to respond to, except for:

In no particular order........
Yay, for D lups on the Job.

I also have a tilted cervix, bloody pain in the arse to find for a decent sweep. Don't mind smears to much.... I must be a bucket.

Hate the Dentist.

sky, hope the pox doesn't show it's head for you and wow on the good scan and movement front. I do slightly miss the wriggling!

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm, what else....

Oh yes, lg&t, everything crossed for you on your hospital appointment, it really is not unusual to get an abnormal result, but I have to slap your hands for not going sooner! Chin up chick, all will be fine.

Scoot....... please go soon too.

Cin, you must come on the 18th, YAY,I can't wait to see everyone.
Think we should sing happy birthday to all our babies at the meet. What do you think? too close to all their birthdays to miss the opportuntity.
Ellameadow will already be one then.

Cam it just sounds so wonderful there. Hippos and all how cute.

Think thats all I can remember, big wave to all and sorry if I haven't mentioned all.

Nothing really to report here, J is crusing and climbing, found the stairs!! Aghhh
All the children are well at the moment and Maddie is a different child since starting school full time! I actualy quite like my little devil girl for a change.

Can not wait to come to blighty, so looking forward to just the 5 of us being away together with no mum and dad around. In need of some space from each other at the moment.

JamInMyWellies · 29/03/2008 23:59

oops sorry Cam forgot to post last night, can only blame it on gorging myself on dirty pizza and falling asleep halfway through David Love god Tennant on Friday night project.

Puppies my vast knowledge extends to this -

GET A CRATE the most important item you need. he can sleep in there retreat when it all gts a bit much and best of all dogs dont like to soil where they sleep so great for puppy potty training.

I would also defo reccommend small amounts of socialisation with all the DC I have kept it very controlled with A and on my terms only any sort of beaviour I dont like he is whipped into the kitchen.

Get some ear plugs as puppies dont like being shut out of family life and he will howl a bit till he gets used to being put into kitchen or crate.

Regarding biting its not biting so much with puppies until about 6 months until then its called mouthing supposed little non hurting bites, thisx is a lie their bites can hurt teeth like pin heads. We have adopted a string growling no when he does this it does seem to work (on reccomensation from dog trainer)

Pissing and pooing no solution yet apart from try to follow routine taking him out at same times every day etc it is beginging to work with us but still having lots of accidents especially when DP comes home or he meets someone new, or when playing or just after waking.

GET AN INDUSTRIAL SIZED BOTTLE OF DETTOX AND LOADS OF KITCHEN PAPER, you will need it.

Does that help prob not but good luck and thank your lucky stars you have staff, oh if any of them have a spare 10mins can you fly them over here to help me move still only got 2 boxes packed.

cameroonmama · 30/03/2008 10:42

Its been a long time since I had a puppy. Thanks for the tips J, her arrival has been postponed until this afternoon. She has a basket, food and bowls, and a lovely dry garage to call her own. It is attached to the house and good haven for her to run to. Sadly we have no crate, hopefully I can borrow one from a friend when she is back from her safari, in the meantime her basket and a cardboard box will have to do!

Sending over Margaret straight away to help you break pack up all your things! You can be sure never to see Archie again once she gets her hands on him

I have a day of peace and quiet as dh has taken all the dc out, I am not feeling too well, some kind of blasted ear infection so will drag myself to the docs tomorrow, something I never do.. Also I'm getting quite fed up of not having my 'stuff' around me, I need to make a home and nest

Meggle, sorry about the pox, how rotten.

Pebblemum · 30/03/2008 13:54

Just a quickie as Im supposed to be peeling spuds while Alana is asleep.

LG&T, M2G are we still on for a coffee and shop this week? If so I can do any day. I can do mornings but would prefer afternoons as I can then come after dropping E at pre-school(he hates shopping lol). I will leave it up to you though, just name the day.

Have a nice Sunday everyone!!

largeginandtonic · 30/03/2008 19:14

Meggle Beau was ok but Hugs very poorly. It took about 3 days and nights of hell before it became bearable for him Poor little B. Lots of love to her and you, it is so awful watching them go through it.

Cam you do sound down, i hope you get your ear sorted soon, earache is terrible. I have had it once before and remember it so well.

MrsJB we cant wait either! Wahoooooo!! A big birthday cake maybe in order

Pebble shall we say Tuesday afternoon? I will drop Hugs at playschool at 1245 then shoot over. Will have to leave Fareham for school run at 240 though. Gah! Hooray for a mini meet

Jam the dog sounds like a flippin nightmare, you nutter. You are coming to the meet aren't you?

Hello everyone else!

Pebblemum · 30/03/2008 19:51

Tuesday's fine by me. E gets dropped off at 1pm so will hopefully be able to catch the 1.23 train which will get to Fareham station around 1.38. My train back comes at either 2.55 or 3.02 so it will be a mini meet lol but better than nothing

Im knackered. It was decided that because it was quite a nice day that my neighbours and I would take all the children fishing at the local lake. It was wet, muddy and very slippery, no fish were caught but we all came back filthy. It was a case of strip at the door (the kids not me lol) and straight in the bath. Alana sat in her pushchair quite happily watching everyone. Poor Jordan was messing about with his friend when he fell into a massive muddy puddle, he looked like some kind of swamp creature The kids had a great time though so thats the main thing and most of them are already in bed, think we wore them all out.

Juicylucytoo · 30/03/2008 21:18

Ok, exited panic over. AF has arrived. Back to plan A/B/C

Wish I could make the 18th. Boo Hiss. But my Mum comes first, expecially as she gave us a weekend off!

JamInMyWellies · 30/03/2008 22:51

JL

largeginandtonic · 31/03/2008 07:27

Try a bit harder next month JL

Pebble hooray for the mini meet! We should have time to peruse the lovely Piggy's and have a coffee in Costa. Where are you Mum2G?

DH back to work today after 2 weeks leave. AF nearly gone so am seriously considering my next move (or not) I have my Colposcopy the day before our 'big' meet so if i'm feeling fragile you lot will have to fend for yourselves (MrsJB knows where the kettle is) Hopefully all will be well. My mil has said she will come too but not sure if i need her really? Can i drive myself even if they zap me?

Meggle how is B?

I am on a diet (apart form the profiteroles last night ) Am so fed up with this last bit of weight. Jeans on but love handles hanging over the top. I have only ever dieted once in all seriousness, weight watchers after Jonah for the last bit of weight too. Not sure i can be bothered with the faff\expense of meetings though.

Right must get on, children to yell at, bags to pack
