Apricot rofl at daughter staling id wondered what had happened there!
I'm waiting till as close to 6 months as I can with the weaning thing, i'm soooo excited about starting, his highchair is sat in the kitchen waiting to be used and he can't even sit without me supporting him yet lol
I don't think it'll be hard waiting though cause he's never been a 'hungry baby' and is not showing a massive amount of interest in our food yet, he occasionally watches us eat but isn't that fussed. If he suddenly decides he's mega hungry and wants to feed at 5 and a half months then I might give in but I can't see that happening, who knows though, we all know how our lo's like to throw us a curve ball now and again!
Wow mrsfish, sounds like the weaning is going realy well, bet we'll all be sharing recipes soon
ejt - well done for getting this far ex bfing! I know what a challenge it can be and wish i'd done as well as you! I'm mulling over the baby led weaning thing but don't think I can resist making purees, it's just how i'd always imagined it would be iykwim, check with me again once i've started, I might have ditched the purees and gone baby led
Well, ds has fallen asleep on his blanket on the floor after tiring himself out trying to roll, looks like a little angel, blessI've got a cold and my nose is running like a tap bummer.
Anyway off to relax with dh for a bit, catch ya all soon and hi to anyone I haven't mentioned

Dalrymps · 17/03/2008 22:16

apricot - i meant stealing

FloriaTosca · 17/03/2008 22:56

Apricott; rofl at your DD too!

Well, I think Alex has pretty much led me already! Baby led weaning here we come. It serves me right for not using his highchair and letting him sit on my knee while I ate...only 9 days short of our 26 week ex bf target .Actually slightly ; where has my tiny baby gone? He's growing up so fast already, sitting bolt upright, trying to walk, having the occasional go at crawling (though still not rolling)...I only gave birth yesterday didn't I?

Thane is now officially booked in prison ..Actually the kennel owner sounds really nice, says to go and visit the kennels anytime to make myself feel happy about where he is going, says they will feed him his own food and reduce the fee if I provide it and promises at least two 2 mile walks a day...I've a feeling that like Inzis dogs, he wont want to come home!

Hope Stefka, Choc and all the others who are sleeping badly get a break tonight. Sleep well LOs

nellieloula · 18/03/2008 08:09

HI everyone. All this weaning talk sounds good! So exciting but also slightly sad in a way too - they really are getting big. We're leaving it for a while longer until Madeleine has her tongue tie op next week (anxious time ahead to say the least) as the surgeon thinks she'll have problems with solids.

Other than that, things go on. Haven't been on here cause to be honest I had a bit of a (well, major!) wobble. All just got a bit too much. A nearly three year old and nearly 5 month old on your own with no help is so exhausting - esp when they have both been full of cold for 3 weeks. Been really tough. But DH is home for 4 days this week before he goes again. And we've taken the decision to try M with a bottle of formula at night and see how that goes. Not what I had planned but then LO's tend to through spanners like that don't they! HOping it will let me get more than 2 hours sleep - actually looking after M is fine, it's her big whirlwind of energy brother that I have really struggled with. And it's really taken its toll on my relationship with him. So change is necessary.

enough of me. hope the rest of you are all ok - will try and back on more regularly. take care

ChocolateHobnob · 18/03/2008 08:53

Hi all

Nellie, I hope you're feeling a bit better! Two kids on your own under three must be tough. And specially when they're ill and you're worried about supply issues... big hugs to you!

Weaning... wow. Floria, so funny that Alex started his own BLW!!! It all sounds exciting and scary all at once. I can't decide about BLW versus the normal route - like Dal I've been dying to make purees, but that's probably a first time mum getting excited about something that in real life is a PITA, I know. I haven't got a highchair yet, even. Mind you DD is only just over 4 months so we have time!

Sleep is still atrocious so best not to comment on that. I'm worried about feeding now, too, which I never have been before. Since the awful bug, my stomach hasnt really settled down (I wont give you TMI!) and I sense that my milk supply is being affected -she gets angry at the end of a feed, latches back on as though she wants more and then gets cross when there isnt any. This isnt happening in the morning, when my supply is more plentiful. It may also of course be a growth spurt...

Is tomorrow the Ledbury meet up? How exciting!

Baby yoga today. Lots of fun! Have a good day everyone.

FloriaTosca · 18/03/2008 12:26

Choc; that happened to me too..dont worry it does come back. For you I would suggest what my dr had me on...boiled 7up!..4oz at a time, heated in the micro to get rid of the bubbles, taken every 30mins or dioralyte rehydration sachets from the chemists...both did the trick for me
got to go ...swimming lesson for Alex..back later

J2O · 18/03/2008 12:27

OMG apricot pmsl at dd, that is the funniest thing ive seen for ages, im still giggling about it, then pmsl even more at inzi lololol
i have no life!

what is this baby led weaning you all speak of?
Shannon has baby rice/baby cereal mixed with her milk at about 12pm every day with the rest of her bottle afterwards, shes been having this for about 3 weeks now, should i be introducing another meal? she seems hapy enough on it. i did try her with pureed mash, sweet potato and carrot the other day, but the sweet potato didn't mash well and was slightly lumpy so she kept balking.

nellie-bog hugs, you are doing so well, its hard being on my own with 2 but at least i get rid off dd1 every week day to school and on a sat night to her dads. hope you get things sorted with the formulae.

inzi-missing you already!!

choc-hope your feeling better soon and your supply sorts itself out, its such a pita when you think you've got bf cracked and then something happens!

mrsfish-wow at ben eating so much! i cant wait to see how big he is now compared to Shannon, and Anya, as they where all born on the same day.

we've had another awful week of it, both kids have been ill, Shannon hasnt slept on a night and then on Sat i started with cold too, Shannon is struggling to have her bottles or her dummy as she can't breathe through her nose, thankfully it looks like we may all be getting better, fingers crossed as i have my date tommorrow night!

well their is no sign of my af, i am now over a week late, i think im going to have to go buy another test, watch me come on tom night really heavy!!

sorry if i've missed anyone out i've got such a bad memory nowadays!

alicet · 18/03/2008 13:08

Hello ladies!

Missed you all...

Weekend away didn't quite live up to it's promise . Think I had a similar bug to Choc - was up during the night on Fri vomiting and had slightly loose poo (sorry if tmi ) until Sun. So didn't manage much skiing. Still, was a break and got lots of sleep so mustn't grumble...

Sorry no chance to catch up properly but have skimmed through....

Apricott also pmsl at your dd!

J2O hope you get your af soon...

Nellie sending you big hugs - I think you have been doing a fantastic job. I stopped bf when Adam was 6 weeks old as juggling that and a toddler just didn't work for me. So can sympathise with a little of how you feel. You have done so well to get to now - please try not to beat yourself up. Also wanted to say that Sam had his tongue tie divided at about 9 months and it was a total breeze. Will be thinking of you but try not to worry - it actually bothered him less than having his jabs!

Looking forward to meetup tomorrow - place all booked and I've sent a mail t6o you all with info...

Choc hope you feel better soon honey and that you're having fun at yoga - miss you!

Inzi hope you get your laptop fixed soon!

Hello and lots of love to everyone else...

Well I am off to be sociable with my family - it's my Mum's 60th today!

OP posts:
alicet · 18/03/2008 13:10

Oh should mention that Adam tried to grab my sandwich on the way down here last week! So today I tried him with a little banana - I was holding it to give to him and he grabbed my hands and pulled it into his mouth! Not sure how much he ate and how much he mushed but he seemed to like it! He has been drinking MUCH more milk too so I think he's probably ready to go... I'm going to do a mix of BLW and purees.

nellieloula · 18/03/2008 16:26

Oh Alice, I can always count on you for a reassuring word! Thank you (and to J20 and Choc) for the lovely support - really appreciate it. So amazing to hear someone tell you you're doing a good job so thank you - and right back at you! We're all doing amazing jobs Good to hear that Sam had his tongue done too.....was he in and out in a day? I am worried - I know it's routine, but the thought of it is still pretty scary.

hope everyone else is having a good day and gets some rest

AnyasMum07 · 18/03/2008 16:30

Aaagh!! Time for a rant. Just rang hospital MRI department as STILL not heard anything since her card turned up 2 weeks ago. Turns out they've not been allowed to do scans under sedation since January - they're having some sort of assessment done and they've no idea when they will be starting again. Somebody should have informed us but nobody's quite sure who. Anya will be getting the first appointment when they start again as she's been waiting the longest, but when's that going to be?? I did suggest that she might soon be old enough for a general anaesthetic (sp?) so should we just get her booked in for that instead, but as her card is missing again (possibly with secretary in paediatric department) nobody can tell me at the moment. Will have to phone paediatric consultant tomorrow and see what's going on. How does anybody deal with the NHS on a regular basis and stay sane?

Have not been on for a while and not yet caught up with posts - hi to everybody and will catch up with what's going on later.

AnyasMum07 · 18/03/2008 17:12

internet connection - went down just as I posted reply to everybody. Not my day!

Briefly - yuk at Choc's/Alice's bug - hope you're feeling better! And lol at all weaning stories.

hi to all, dd getting impatient, see you later.

ChocolateHobnob · 18/03/2008 18:03

Alice, poor you! We must have caught it together. Though mine seemed to last a lot longer, probably cos I'm so sleep deprived! Yesterday I felt dreadful, despondent, sick, exhausted. Today I feel better - despite no more sleep - so hopefully the bug is going...

BUT - this will make you all laugh I expect - we went to baby yoga today without Alice. Everyone missed you... anyway Rebecca had diarrhoea - there was a sort of explosion and poo went EVERYWHERE -- all down her legs, up her chest and back right up to her hair, all over her arms, all over my cardigan and jeans. It was spectacular. We had to bath her in the sink... it seems she has caught my bug after all...! However she isnt suffering, so it is kind of funny as I tyhen had to go home covered in baby poo-bright yellow patches all over my jeans and my pink cardi turned yellow...

Nellie, you're doing a fab job, do remember that.

Anyasmum, think you need to do some sharp complaining! How useless they are.

J20, big hugs and hope AF holds off till Thursday - but that test is still negative! - by the way what does AF actually stand for? I dont know!

J2O · 18/03/2008 19:07

hi guys just a quickie, did another ntest, negative still, then af turned up, grr, off all the luck!

sorry for everyone having tummy bugs, choc-i didnt once snigger at the yellow poo covered pink cardi...

Anyasmum-what a pita! maybe its best you keep hold of her notes yourself...if they ever find them. fancy them only just realising they stopped doing sedation in Jan douh!

muppetgirl · 18/03/2008 19:46

Choc - you poor things! Baby poo can be explosive can't it!

J20 - Glad af turned up

Anyasmum - {angry] at NHS (read below to hear yet another 'cock up' by the wondrous NHS...

Well I had my gynaecologist app today (don?t worry Ledbury lot will not be walking like a cowboy tomorrow!) The consultant said that he thinks my muscle between my (sorry if tmi!) anus and vagina (have I go that right Alice?) isn?t strong enough but could be corrected with surgery if it doesn?t improve. I am to have physiotherapy and a barium enema (ewww!) and an IUV examination to make sure nothing is wrong first. I also asked him about the stomach pains and he said that tennis is a big no no as is running. When I asked if I could go swimming he said yes, one length get out and then do 2 the next time i.e. take it as though you have never done any exercise before He also said that I (all women who've given birth?) should not have done any exercise at all until 6 months after H was born (is that a 3rd degree tear thing or all women? I forgot to ask ) He also asked me what was said in my 6 week hospital check to which I said I was never asked back for one. He sighed and said I should have been seen 6 weeks after having H to check all was well. I said the consultant who delivered H said he would see me in 6 weeks but then another consultant said he'd see me in 12 weeks and the discharging consultant said 'oh we don?t do that anymore, we just figure you'll come back if there's a problem' Also my chappie today asked what the physiotherapist said and I said they phoned me and asked if I was doing my pelvic floor exercises, I said yes and they said great and that was that. He sighed again and said I should have been having physiotherapy....

I am so as I feel this situation with my 'bits' could have been avoided or at least been treated before it got so painful. He was also surprised I hadn't had an af yet too.

Dh said this has definitely made up his mind not to have any more children

Mrs Fish - You'll pine but Thane will have a ball! (Lovely name btw) Our rescue dog can't go into kennels as he would freak but I think the pesky Jack Russell (who has chewed my tennis shoes - oh well, don?t need them for a while ) would love it!

MrsFish · 18/03/2008 20:22

I don't have a dog, I thinks its Floria's???

muppetgirl · 18/03/2008 20:59
