Stefka:glad you got an extra hour at least. Unfortunately you lo sounds just like my Alex 2 feeds a night I could cope with but the habit of 4+ was getting beyond a joke, now he has almost self regulated himself to just 1 it is wonderful...keep persevering ... as the sleep document says, enabling them to get to sleep without us is giving them a wonderful gift.

Lisa; good to see you back and glad that you are better...your girls look absolutely gorgeous.

Mine; With you there....I have hinted and hinted ...I was sooo looking forward to my first mothers day (I've waited long enough)but think I had better just consider myself lucky if I get a card

Alice; glad you are back

Dalrymps · 02/03/2008 12:29

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!
I'm having a nice day so far, Dylan was unsettled last night and it turned out he had a bright red sore bum , he's never had a sore bum before, well not as bad as this, we used new wipes and I'm wondering if he's had some sort of reaction to them? We always put a bit of sudocrem on when we change his nappy... anyway, we've washed it with plain water and put plenty cream on, he ended up in our bed from 4am as we just couldn't get him to go down without screaming, it was awful, he sounded like a cat being strangled! Was nice to cuddle him though . Seems better this morning, has been on a towel on the bed in between us airing his bum .
Anyway! Dylan (well, dh) got me some lovely mothers day presents, I got an ipod shuffle engraved with 'Happy 1st mothers day love dylan xxx', a mug that said 'i love mummy' on it and 'yummy mummy' keyring, nightie, apron and socks so did very well!
Anyway off to get some moe wipes and see the ils x have a lovely mothers day everyone, catch ya soon x

alicet · 02/03/2008 13:05

Happy Mummy's Day everyone!!!

Lisa great to see you again and to hear that you are loving being a mummy. Sorry to hear you have been ill but glad all on the up now...

Well Adam slept through from 11 to 6 on Friday night and I got to lie in until 8 which was a right result so I felt almost human yesterday for the first time in ages! And dh and I went out last night - bil and sil gave us a meal out for our Christmas pressie so we finally used it last night. We had an absolutely fab time but I'm suffering for it today - not in bed until midnight and had rather too much to drink! Was a really really lovely night - made me remember (not that I had forgotton) how much I love dh and why...

Today we've been to Cafe Nero and the park with the boys and now they are both sleeping (although I might have just heard Adam....) so dh and I are slobbing on the sofa!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY ALL

DAL; Wow! Didn't Dareh & your DH do well!! Sorry the poor wee mite had such a sore botty...hope it gets better quickly.

Alice; So happy for you that Adam slept again and your night out, wonderful that you and your DH can get a chance to rediscover each other again.

DH took me out for a pub lunch yesterday as a treat from Alex, and we took Mum out today...whoops there goes the diet again

muppetgirl · 03/03/2008 08:11

Hi all,

Glad to hear you all had great mothers' days and isn't it fab those who are 1st time mummies to have a day dedicated to us!!

I was given a beautiful painting of roses (so says the lady who sold it to dh but we both think they look like poppies) it's going in the kitchen as it the perfect colour. Oliver made me the most brilliant card and actually wrote his name (over a yellow penned copy of his) -good god! Did the teacher have to pin him down to get that? {grin] It is also the same colours as the kitchen as he drew roses so I'm going to get it framed and put in the kitchen.

Lisa - I play after 8 in the evenings as dh is home then adn I also play a club night on sun 4-6 (beginners) I really enjoy it adn it get s me out with other adults adn it's something I do with/without dh (he's in the higher group to me!)

Alice - Good to have you back too!

Got to go, Thomas the tank engine has been thrust under my nose to read....

Have a good day all
x

MrsFish · 03/03/2008 09:24

Morning all

DH helped Sam make me a MD card (after I said I would like one this year seeing he has failed miserably the last two) and bought me the Take That double DVD (which I told him it would be nice to have ;))

I would have liked the dishwasher to have been emptied and re-stacked and a cup of tea in bed but hey ho

I did have a nice dinner at MiL's though and she is taking me out to lunch today too for my b'day (not till wed);) Its a glorious but cold day here so will try and make the best of it.

Ben's skin continues to get better on the soya milk as long as I keep using the creams aswell. He is also back to sleeping through the night again, I think I had him too hot before because since I changed his grobag he has slept through.

Have a good day everyone

strawberrylace · 03/03/2008 11:15

Hello everyone!
g;ad you all had lovely mothers days. I had a lovely card with a wobbly handprint of DS in it (he wouldn't stay still long enough for DH to draw around it properly!) and DS and DH have clubbed together (!) to buy me some relaxing beauty treatments which i am very much looking forward to. and i didn't have to change a smelly nappy all day
Back to normal again now....
Dal - top tip for sore bums that i picked up from my sis (on her 3rd DC now so she is v knowledgable) - try putting some cornflower on it (yes, the stuff you cook with) - it really does work

Dalrymps · 03/03/2008 11:55

strawberry- thanks for the tip! Don't thin i've got any but will get some

Mine · 03/03/2008 16:35

hi all.... glad to hear everyone had a really lovely day yesterday. I can't wait until ds is old enough to bring home a card he made himself

ds has been very good recently... sleeping loads and eating lots too... but he's also getting spots with puss in them.. is this milk spots??
He had them when he was new born but they weren't as pusy (sp?).

Mum is going away tomorrow for 3 months..... am really sad about it as i see her every day and is an enormous support for me, so not sure what i'm going to do without her. Feel very tearful just thinking about it. But i know she'll be back in no time.

Hope everyone is well.

Anyone still up for a london meet up??
Not sure how far that got

muppetgirl · 03/03/2008 18:42

Hi mine. can't help on the spots front sorry! Sorry to hear your mum is away, we are all still hear virtually for you if you need a shoulder (or shoulderss) to lean on.

I'm still up for the London meet up....

Had a good day Ollie is being a bit of a pain as he cries at the drop of a hat and will-not-stop Henry is starting nursery on Thurs and has visit tomorrow (it was today but I forgot ) so I am really looking forward to Thursday morning when I will be at a lose as to what to do! This is the only Thursday I will feel this as the following thursday I start my training for BSL level 1 (British sign language) This is for the baby sign thing I'm doing. I have agreed a class starting at my Local David Lloyd gym (no room hire -woo hoo!) for Sept and are now in the process of finding another venue where I live, My aim for my first year is 3 classes so 1 down, 2 to go I am also going to be running a recorder club at the gym starting in April (1 hr on a Sat) as a choice for the over 5's club whilst parents are playing sport. I'm also thinking of offering a baby music class -what do you lot think?

Hope you're all well
x

AnyasMum07 · 03/03/2008 19:17

Muppet - the necklace is a lovely idea. Also had me thinking the same idea about dd birthstone - same as mine and I don't even know what it is . Congrats on your tennis win! Classes sound great too.

Had nice day Sunday - went for lunch at dh's other dd's restaurant. He'd also got a card and given Anya a biro for her to scrawl on the bottom - really cute and the kind of thing that makes non-parents throw up . Glad everybody had good days.

Had a hard day with teething today - I can actually see a couple of teeth ready to pop through and they must be very sore - she's been very very unhappy. Plus she's got a really bad cold, poor love.

Got a phone call from hospital appointments department today - they've just got the card back from MRI to say the scan failed (that was 6+half weeks ago!!!! ) and they weren't sure what to do . So they're going to check with the consultant to see when she can go for one with sedation. Excuse me while I bang my head on the table.

nellieloula · 04/03/2008 08:44

morning all - very quiet on this thread.....have you all gone somewhere else I wonder?? Hope you all had good sleeps - we are well and truly in the land of the cold. Poor Madeleine had a pretty bad day yesterday - you forget how unnerving it is when they're poorly and so little - and now DS has it too. Great!! And to top it all off, DH has just told me that he is working with an ex on this job......ummmmm. But the sun is shining so must get them out. HOpe you're all ok and someone else is around?!

Mine · 04/03/2008 11:54

it is very quiet here.... where is everybody .....
Very windy in london... not great weather to go out in i'm afraid, so house bound today
All i want to do is eat!
sorry you/ds is not feeling well Nellie....... lo's are hard work when they are poorly. Esp when they are very ickle!
Hope he feels better soon.

ejt1764 · 04/03/2008 11:55

just checking in - we've had an horrendous few days - Mairwen just got more and more poorly - and finally, on Saturday, stopped feeding altogether ... no driblle, no wet nappies ... and a clingy, whingy baby!

Took her to the on-call doc on Saturday night who suggested I take her into bed with me and try to feed her through the night - otherwise we would be looking at hospitalisation, and drips and the like!

Thankfully, she started to sup in her sleep a little bit on Saturday night, and is now coming back up to full working order!

She woke up happy and chirpy this morning - a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders ...

Have been to doc today as well, they've upped my ADs - and that's given me horrific headaches ... so I've been given another drug to take to counteract the headaches ... I feel like I'd rattle if I jumped up and down!

Sorry for the me, me, me post ... glad to hear everybody had a good mothering Sunday - we don't really do much anyway - good thing really, given how ill M was!

Think I hear her waking up ... love and hugs to all!

E x

Hi Mine ... no messages for ages, then we both post at the same time!

MrsFish · 04/03/2008 12:04

Hi everyone, could you all take a look here please www.mumsnet.com/Talk/9/489780?stamp=080304115819

Thanks

alicet · 04/03/2008 17:01

Mine big hugs that your mum is going away. Like muppet said we are all here for you if you need support although appreciating that it won't be as hands on as your mum... Not long to wait for ds to make you a mummy's day card though - Sam made me one at nursery! very cute!!!

Nellie hope madeleine is better soon...

Ejt sorry to hear about the headaches. Hope all the various pills are doing their jobs at least.... Glad to hear Mairwen is on the mend too.

MrsFish off to check out your thread in a min...

Well last night Adam woke at 11, 2.30, 5.30 and 6.30. Not great. Called the health visitor for advice as I feel as though he is going backwards with his nighttime sleeps and wanted to see if she had any words of wisdom. I had thought its no point in weaning early as he doesn't even have as much milk as he should. But she said that some babies prefer food... I am going to try increasing the hungry baby milk as a first step and then following on from that start weaning if it doesn't help.

Big hellos to everyone else!

OP posts:
nellieloula · 04/03/2008 18:39

Hi everyone.Alice, hope you're not too shattered? When you see when Adam woke up written down like that, it looks like classic growth spurt stuff doesn't it? Good luck with the hungry milk - hope that does the trick. Maybe he was just missing his mum though

Mrs fish - looked at your site, thanks for that.

Mine, I sympathise with the loss of support. DH will be going away for a month and I won't have any help so I know how you feel. Been here before. But can happily testify that all the lovely ladies on this thread kept me going and supported me all the way so you're in good hands.

Both DS and Madeleine are absolutely streaming with cold - haven't seen one this bad for ages. Been hard work today cause we had to stay in this pm as they really weren't up for going out. Fingers crossed they sleep ok - although M has just crashed out in her activity ring decided to leave her there for a while, she looks pretty comfy and I don't want to have to get her up and change her etc when she so needs her shut eye, bless.

ejt - how is Mairwen today?

And DH started his new job and the schedule is way worse than we anticipated - he'll be away a lot. And the fact that his ex is on it too is just irritating me more than anything else...maybe I'm just being unreasonable cause I know I have nothing to worry about at all.

anyway - better go and enjoy the peace before bedtime #2 begins! have a good evening everyone

muppetgirl · 04/03/2008 19:18

Hi all

Inzi and I waded in on the 4 x 4 thread. Boy can they get heated! I like to come back here, kick off my shoes and have a cup of tea with you lovely ladies....

Ollie has 'the cold' too and isn't going to school tomorrow. H had his first session at nursery today and was fine, we spent the hour round at my dad's where dad made ollie a cheese sandwhich (made me feel strange as dad used to do that for me -do you no what I mean? Your parents doing stuff for your children...)

Henry was weighed today and is 17lb 13ozs at 17 weeks.

Both boys now in bed and I'm relaxing for an hour and then I'm off to play tennis at the gym as I've been asked to join a mixed doubles. Nice to get out, get active and have adult conversation again.

EJT - How's Mariwen?

Alice - sorry to hear of your lack of sleep I hope the hungrier baby milk works. I started H off on a mix of the hungrier powder with the ordinary powder adn ended up doing 4 scoops of both. We are now on the hungrier baby milk full time now though and the health visitor has suggested fruit and veg for H as he is taking a lot of milk.

Mrs Fish - did your link

Nellie - Sorry to hear about your dh's new schedule, try not ot worry (easier said than done I know) about his ex, she's his ex for a reason!

muppetgirl · 04/03/2008 19:23
