I hope no one else is watching Emmerdale, I am a mess

Mine · 21/02/2008 20:53

hi muppett - my ds is just over 17 weeks and he too is guzzling vast amounts of milk like yours. I know it probably goes against most peoples advice and opinions, but i have starting giving him some solids, only one meal a day and still need to follow it on with milk, but only 4oz.

DS absolutely loves it, in fact he gets narky when its all gone, but i don't want to over do it.

He doesn;t display any other signs other than sheer greed.

His poos are fine too.

This is not the case for every 17 week old.

I know i'll get shot down for this, but i feel its right for my lo.

WinnieThePooh · 21/02/2008 21:30

Hi all,

Just a quick post to tell APRICOTT that the liners have been posted today,

AnyasMum07 · 21/02/2008 21:48

J2O - at melting teething rings!

Muppet - sorry you're having problems with a school. Yes, the system is daft, which is no consolation at all. About weaning - don't feel pressured into doing it, but you could always try it and see how it goes - if Henry doesn't like it or it upsets his system you can always leave it a bit longer (and I speak from experience on that one!!) We've just tried baby rice again - we left it completely for almost a week since stopping the first attempt although she was much better by the weekend. So far so good, fingers crossed. She gets upset that she's not allowed more than a teaspoon's worth but I'm being strict! She's hugely increased her afternoon milk intake now she's having a bit of baby rice for lunch - very strange... might be a coincidental growth spurt.

Floria - glad nights are getting better for you.

Nellie - hope you and DS feeling better. Hope christening goes well on Sunday.

MrsFogi - Hello!!

ejt - glad that maybe your mil is seeing a bit of sense - satisfying that dd played up a bit for her! Hope that your early mornings settle down soon.

Anya's not quite rolling yet - she gets half way and then drops back onto her back. With a bit of encouragement and gentle prodding she does get all the way over though and then looks immensely pleased with herself. She's even getting reasonably well-behaved in public - I took her out for lunch with a friend on Tuesday and she managed to have some milk and a nap in her buggy without bursting into tears! Hurrah!

AnyasMum07 · 21/02/2008 21:51

Meant to say, sympathise muppet with at not being 'childbearer'. We put advert in post office to sell moses basket this week. I'm trying to ignore the little pangs of nostalgia. (Nostalgia at 4 months??) I'm not even sure that's spelt right...

Dalrymps · 21/02/2008 23:40

HI MRSFOGI!
just a quick note to say i'm off to my brother's in peterborough for the weekend so won't be on over next few days. First trip further than newcastle, will take 4/5 hrs, hope it goes ok! Hi to everyone, will post properly when I get back, i have read all your posts but not enough time to comment on them - too much to pack, how can one little man need so much?
Catch ya soon

FloriaTosca · 22/02/2008 08:26

Welcome Mrs Frogi, hope you manage to join in on the London meet up.

EJT;Good on Mairwen!!! and Happy Birthday for tomorrow

Strawberry; Alex says "Hi Dude!" (we think he's going to be the wakeboarding/surfer type)"Regarding front to back rolling;just push yourself up as high as you can on your arms, then take just one arm away!Gravity does it for you every time!"

Choc; the sleeping was going fine, 2nd night was 8pm, 2am and 5 am and 7.30am.However last night Dh came home unexpectedly (he wasnt due until today)unfortunately he has a bad chest infection and his coughing woke Alex at 12.30,I tried leaving him to settle but everytime he started to drift off DH would cough again and we were back to square oneso it was another 3 feed night ..but at least it is 2 steps forward 1 step back (rather than 1 forward 2 back)Thanks for asking...how are things going for you?

...will catch up with everyone else later...

J2O · 22/02/2008 09:35

Hi all!

i've been offline cos i went to get my funky new laptop and they had to keep my old melted one overnight to transfer all the files, it was awful a whole night with no internet, i had to watch tv phew! thank God that nightmare is over
however, i can't log on to MN on my new computer for some reason so i am on my old one while i sort that out!

Ejt- at lo playing mil up, now thats satisfying, well apart from when you really need her to be settled with others for you to have a break, maybe she's going through a phase?

mrsFogi-Hi

strawberrrylace-i didn't realise that your ds was same day as Shannon and Ben, sorry, i have such a bad memory.

FT-pmsl@ Alex givin instructions for rolling
Shannon's rolled a few times, always when i'm on my own though, i think people think i'm making it up! but she isn't very often layed down due to her always being sick, so she may take a while yet before she gets the chance to do it.

i have put Shannon in her own bedroom the last 3 nights, which may have been a bit silly as she is definately teething and i am up and down all night putting her dummy back in and then up at 5am with her frantically chewing my shoulder, wheras when she was in my room i just put her in bed with me, oh well, these things have to be done, oh and could someone please forward me the sleep thingymagig.

right i'd better go sort bottles, sorry to those i've missed, will try and be back later xxxx

J2O · 22/02/2008 09:37

oh and happy birthday or tommorrow Ejt xx

J2O · 22/02/2008 09:37

oh and happy birthday for tommorrow Ejt xx

strawberrylace · 22/02/2008 11:37

hello everyone
can someone please tell me who has pinched my happy smiling chatty baby, and swapped him for a cranky one that woke at 4am for food and has wanted feeding every two hours since???????
Ejt - happy b'day for tomorrow
Floria - please pass Olly's thanks to Alex - we are going to try advanced rolling later today!
Dal - have fun in Peterborough - sure the journey will be fine - feed before you leave and hopefully LO will sleep most of the way
Muppet - i too long for the pregnancy days, when lumps and bumps were flaunted not ashamed of!
Anyasmum - i know what you mean about nostalgia - where have our teeny babies gone all of a sudden?
J20 - sympathy with the teething and sleepless nights - we are having these too, which is why DS is staying in with us for a while....
Hope everyone is ok. DS is in his new activity centre (a big hit) and i am having a cuppa and a huuuge cookie - beacuse i can

FloriaTosca · 22/02/2008 17:14

Strawberry;..sorry, I think that was me my normally sleepless, demanding and cranky alex has been sweetness and light today (actually for the past 3 days)or at least he was until an hour ago when he suddenly decided to feed like a pig, spent 10 mins looking billious and then threw everything up (missing the computer by millimetres)and has been as cranky hell ever since . Such a shame because when he is happy he is such an absolute delight he was even trying to sing today! . I hope Olly enjoys advanced rolling..I'd be happy if Alex would master basic rolling first.

Got to go....Dh keeps rubbing in how badly I need to go and do some practise (I have a BIG concert in May and getting back in condition for that is a bit like training for a marathon)so I had better go and take advantage of his being here for baby entertaining duties.....

MrsFogi · 22/02/2008 19:42

Gosh this thread moves fast! Thanks for all the welcomes. Has a date or place for the London meet been mooted yet - I'd definately be up for it.....

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/02/2008 20:31

I have an idea for London meet, depending how many are coming........

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/02/2008 20:33

Mine, i wouldn't worry about giving 17 week old solids lol.....Zachary was 10 weeks old when he went onto them and ds1 was only 3 weeks when i started him on baby rice....ds1 is now a healthy 9yr old and ds2 an 18 1/2lb 5 month old.

Mine · 22/02/2008 20:44

thanks LES. I too started a little while ago, but weaning is a very touchy subject, but i'm a great believer in each to their own. Its almost like people like to brag about how early they started weaning, but for me it was a call to action!!

I had to put rusk type biscuits in his night time milk from about 6 weeks old and he started to sleep through the night... i mean like 9pm until 7am!! I knew then that i had an uber greedy baby. I then started on baby rice from about 15 weeks, but didn;t give it to him every day...more like every other day, now he's on one solid meal a day.... stuff i make at home.. today was sweat potato and carrots.

DS is almost very easy going, happy baby..... i'm just waiting for the teething wailing to begin.

Ideas for the london meet up.......where??? When????

Mine · 22/02/2008 20:45

forgot to say... last time there was about 5 of us, but Mrsfrogi will make it 6 i guess.

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/02/2008 21:54

Well i have a couple of ideas.......

A soft play area, brilliant one not too far from me then maybe we can head back to mine for coffee n munchies

crystal palace park meet in their cafe for coffee etc,

or my fav place
GREENWICH and we can have chinese in the eat as much as you like restaurant lol after a nice walk around the park.........

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/02/2008 21:57

Mine, please don't think i was bragging, in both cases it was a choice of weaning or no sleep for me lol. Ds1 @ 2 weeks was on 9oz milk every 45 mins, ds2 was having 8oz every 40-55 mins so i had to feed him...

oh meant to add, if we meet in greenwich there are plenty of galleries to go in if the weather turns bad.

let me know peeps

[email protected]

Mine · 22/02/2008 22:04

LES - i didn't mean you were bragging...... sorry i just can't string sentences any more!! Doh!!!

muppetgirl · 22/02/2008 22:05

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/02/2008 22:13

muppetgirl · 22/02/2008 22:15

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/02/2008 22:16

Mine · 22/02/2008 22:22

i too have a fear of public transport with a buggy...i haven;t quite got the hang of escalators!! Sounds dumb i know but i just cn;t seems to master it.

How about somewhere we can all drive to???
We had this dilemma last time!!
