Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
muppetgirl · 19/02/2008 10:28

Hi Alice, good news that last night was better x
Yes, going to keep him at the private school. The plan has been to go private for Secondary -Swindon has VERY bad secondary schools. I think we have the worst and the second worse in the country. We debated primary as I can help as I was a primary teacher and know the curriculum, I can't affect the behaviour at school and really want a strong leadership, head, with good clear discipline, uniform etc. This school definately doesn't have that!!! I have boy that given an inch will take 4 miles so I need a teacher that is confident enought to 'squash' him when necessary as he could easily go off the rails. The private school he's at have a clear discipline policy and if they don't adhear then they're out.

J2O · 19/02/2008 11:37

hi guys,

muppet-it sounds like you're going to have to keep him at the private school, but at least he'll have continuity(sp)and won't have to move and get unsettled in a new school. bit of a bummer though regarding the cost.

alice-glad you got a better nights sleep, so did i, lo woke up at 5.30 so i put her in bed with me until dd1 came to tell me she had a headache and couldn't go to school, needless to say, i have been conned again and she was fine at 9.30 so is going back to school after dinner.

the hv drives me mad, she tells me what i already know and goes on and on, think i'm a bit narky today oh mrsF-Shannon is 20 weeks on Fri, did i look silly when i told hv she would be 21 weeks, but its so easy to lose track! Shannon weighs 16lb 1oz and has moved from the 25th centile to the 75th but hv didn't seem too worried, alsoshe said that she's having quite a lot of milk (4x8oz a day) but in the same breath said try not to wean her yet, i was already contemplating putting her bottles to 9oz as she gets mad when her bottles have gone now.

righy going to sort washing out cos Shannon wee'd on hv scales so i had to mop it up with her vest, hope every one else is good, ta ta for now! xx

MrsFish · 19/02/2008 15:15

J20 - I had to get my red book out to check as I couldn't remember either

Oh, just read your last post Yeah he is 20 wks at the moment, but he will be 21 weeks on friday... that's right isn't it????

MrsFish · 19/02/2008 15:22

Oh I don't know now, I'll go by what your HV said as I can't be bothered to work it out

J2O · 19/02/2008 18:29

mrs fish-i worked it out, they're 19 wks, 20 weeks on fri lol.

i went to see my friend earlier, she has a 7 month old and is 3 months pg thats like us all getting caught pg around now, it just doesn't bear thinking about does it!! any way, the reason for me mentioning this visit is that she was telling me about her other friend who has a 5 month old little girl, who has been having puree's for a couple of weeks, but is only on 2 bottles of 7oz ff a day, and the rest of time has water, my friend said the baby was screaming most of the time, she thought from hunger, i would have thought that isn't enough ff for a baby of that age is it?

well, enough gossiping by me, need to get the tea stuff cleared away.

strawberrylace · 19/02/2008 21:32

Hello everyone
This wasn't coming up in my 'threads I'm on' list - so I can't have been around for ages! How time flies!
Haven't been up to much - coping with teething like everyone else, and trying more drugs to beat the thrush. I am stubbornly determined to get to 26 weeks of bf... And cooked two new recipes for tea tonight (moroccan lamb and quick lemon pud)- trying to find some new quick things to cook while I am at home
MrsFish/J2O - my DS is also 20 weeks on friday - only a month and a half and they will be 6 months old. I just realised this today, and it feels wierd - like how come all that time just went? I love it that he's getting more of a personality - he has such a cheeky grin - but he gets less like a little baby every day, and that's quite sad...
Off to the BabyBounce session in the library in town tomorrow afternoon, followed by coffee with the mums in Debenhams. Such a nice way to spend the day
Hope you are all well

FloriaTosca · 19/02/2008 21:47

Just a quickie to say thanks for sport re sticking to bf and;
Alice thank you so much for the sleep sense document..
I have started a modified version of it (my boobs couldn't cope with going from 2hrly feeds to and 8 hr gap overnight if it worked that wellwink])and guess what?!!! I had a 1am and a 4am feed and he woke at 7am for breakfast! 3 hourly instead of 2 hourly instantly!!!! I was like a new woman this morning!!
Can't stop for long, Dh just arrived home but is off again tomorrow so need to get some "us" time.
I'll try to get on tomorrow and catch up.

FloriaTosca · 19/02/2008 21:49

oops that was supposed to read Support not sport

muppetgirl · 19/02/2008 22:15

Can someone send me the sleep doc as my friends lo is now 8 months and STILL not going longer than 4 hrs sleep at any one time. She's exhausted!!

[email protected]

thanks
x

FloriaTosca · 20/02/2008 10:00

Muppet; consider it forwarded

Last night was ok too ....feed and bed by 9pm,(the doc reccommends a lot earlier but I work until 8pm 3 nights a week and lo wont take a bottle and dh cant get the knack of the doidy cup , so 8.30/9pm is the time he gets his last bf, no choice )He then slept until 2am and then again until 4am (I tried waiting 5 mins for him to settle himself but his cries escalated, he really wanted food)...he did wake at 6am but settled in 5 mins untill 7.30! I'm going to see if we can get down to 1 night feed at the weekend when Dh will be back.

J20; nappies arrived this am thank you so much.Dhs cousins are due any day now. I will e-mail you for your address to reimburse you

nellieloula · 20/02/2008 10:42

morning all. Floria - result! Well done, that all sounds much better. We are in growth spurt hell now too; better last night but was every 2hrs the few nights before. And to top it off DS is poorly so unable to go to nursery this week - I am like the walking dead Any chance you could forward me the sleep doc too?? [email protected] thanks!

hope everyone else is ok - I feel like I'm getting the cold which is great considering w've got 30 people here on Sunday for madeleine's christening....

will try and get on later but hope you all have good days

Dalrymps · 20/02/2008 12:58

Hey jusy popping in to say I think we're having a growth spurt here too... ds waking up only once during the night which is still good but is a change as he was going 8 hrs. Anyone else noticed that the growth spurt thing changes every day? like, one night he was up 6.30, next night, 4.30, next, 6.45, last night 3.30... totally random! Anyway hope you're all doing ok, sorry for those having real sleep probs, off to get Dylan weighed now so be back later, wish me luck x

oh ps: strawberry, if you go to the top of this thread and click the word 'watch' then you just need to go to 'threads i'm watching' in the future and it'll always be there

Mine · 20/02/2008 18:13

hi folks

i agree with the growth spurt thing, there doesn't seem too much of a pattern in behaviour... one minute they are hungry all the time and sleep ages, next they hardly want to know about milk and keep you up all night!

We're going through a wriggling stage, ds is only 17 weeks but can;t sit still.. he almost fell off sofa and changing mat. Now he's started this new thing where he turns himself in his night time sleep about 180 degrees!! Didn;t think he could do that but i found him like that this morning thinking "i;m sure i didn;t put you to bed like that last night........ !

I've officially started weightwatchers yesterday so i'm full steam ahead with points. Have to lose baby weight by end of may.

Hope everyone is ok.. its been a bit quiet here recently....

muppetgirl · 20/02/2008 19:34

Hi all

Hungry baby here too....

He had 6ozs of hungry baby milk and an hour and a half later had 9 oz of his 4/4 sma gold/hungry baby mix

I'm glad I stopped at the 4/4 mix as now I can step it up 3/5 now to combate it. He's still not showing any other signs of weaning though but will also make 10oz bottled from now on too.

strawberrylace · 20/02/2008 19:55

wriggly baby over here too! he will not stay still either, and also does the turning around in his sleep thing. Plus rolls from his back to his front and gets frustrated cos he can't get back again.

So I spent some money today on an activity centre which he can sit/stand up in as an alternative to playing with his lying down baby gym, because this is when he does most rolling and gets most frustrated.

Dal - thanks for the watching tip!

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/02/2008 21:16

wiggly baby here too lolol

FloriaTosca · 20/02/2008 23:17

Nellie; forwarded to you too.

Alex is being a perfect delight since getting a bit more sleep, full of giggles and chatting and singing away...he's still not rolling from front to back (though it's not surprising as he hates being on his front for any length of time and of course the Amby prevents rolling over at all during the night) but he is quite good at rolling from front to back when I'm doing his massage if he doesnt want his back doing. He objects to being laid down much when awake now and so is pretty much sitting unaided for quite a while. He is also very keen on using his feet, trying to stand as often as we will let him, bouncing about in his jumpjump (the baby bouncer that fits on the Amby frame) and scooting backwards in his baby walker (the team Jane silver sports car..he loves it!) He's going to keep me on my toes once he gets mobile I can tell!!
Right...time to take advantage of the extra peace (if it lasts )

FloriaTosca · 20/02/2008 23:20

I do wish I would read through before posting! hmm]
It should read "he's still not rolling from back to front" ....[rolling eyes at herself emoticon]

MrsFogi · 21/02/2008 10:44

Hi, I'm a bit late in joining this thread but here goes, dd was born on 22 October and I'm wondering if anyone with a similar aged baby is in West Greenwich and fancies meeting up for a coffee before the babies get too wriggly to take out?

ejt1764 · 21/02/2008 12:23

Hi MrsFogi - nice to meet you!

Apologies in advance for the following me, me, me post ... it's been an interesting week.

Saturday, the PiLs came - FiL obviously had said s0d all to MiL following DH's chat with him, as she carried on making all the tactless comments: "Oh, we don't need mammy, do we." "No, she's not tired, she's fine" ... etc. etc - however, I was incredibly proud of DH as he tackled her himself about it - and told her that that sort of comment upsets me - her response: "Oh, I didn't mean it in that way - don't you think ejt is over-sensitive at the moment?" ... DH told her to desist ... - very proud of him!
Anyway, they babysat while we went out for a meal: it's my birthday on Saturday, and we're having a murder-mystery party ... so dh wanted to take me out so I could have a relaed treat ... the meal was stunning ... but the PiLs had to call us home as Mairwen was totally inconsolable - we got home, and MiL complained that she hadn't been able to calm her - Mairwen was dripping with tears, and had obviously been very worked up for a while ... I took her off MiL - and she stopped crying immediately - I must admit to feeling a strange sense of satisfaction that Mairwen had played them up - I didn't point out that perhaps I was needed after all - but I wish I had done!

DH has been away all week - we've had some good nights and some bad nights - Mairwen's latest thing is to wake at around 4.30 - 5am, feed lots, then have tremendous problems with her reflux, throw up, etc. etc - the latest I've stayed in bed this week is 5am ... am looking a bit of a zombie right now!

I tried to go to aqua-aerobics yesterday - I thought I'd give Mairwen a go in the creche at the leisure centre - I felt that professionals would probably be able to calm her better ... I was in the pool for 10 minutes when they came to get me ... Mairwen was inconsolable ... think we'll wait a few weeks to try that again! I had had to really screw myself up to go as well - never mind!

Mairwen isn't rolling yet, though she's trying to roll from front to back when I put her down on her front - she spends so much of her time propped, that she's no need to roll otherwise! She has found her feet though - she plays with them when I'm changing her bnappy! It's very cute!

We're still holding off on the weaning too - Madam just isn't showing any signs of being ready yet (though she did grab a piece of potato off my plate the other day - she sucked sme of it, then rubbed the rest in her eyes and hair ... then cried!)

Right, off to have some "me" time ... am making (another) poncho for Mairwen ...

Am hoping that everybody is well! Love, hugs and waves to everybody!

strawberrylace · 21/02/2008 14:39

Hello all!
Floria - I need to get Alex to give DS some tips about front to back rolling - then perhaps he'd get less frustrated!
MrsFogi - welcome - we were trying to sort out a London meet-up if you are interested?
Mine/Muppet - shall we discuss some new dates?
Ejt - so pleased that DH stood up for you (don't know how you keep your cool with MIL comments like that) - and good on Mairwen for playing up for her! Well done on trying the aqua aerobics...

DS loves his new activity centre - happy to play in there for a good 20 mins, and has worked out how to swivel himself around to play with all the different toys. We went to a drop in baby cafe this morning, and he was fascinated with all the different babies - he's zonked out in his car seat at the moment, because i feel bad about waking him when he is so comfy and sleepy, Still, gives me 5 mins on here!

Hope you are all well

Mine · 21/02/2008 15:58

Hello Mrsfrogi - welcome!!

I'm up for a new london meet up date.
email me on avaulable dates... if you'd all rather meet up somewhere else too just drop me a line.

i'm on [email protected]

ChocolateHobnob · 21/02/2008 17:43

Hi all

Ejt, poor you with your MIL. Go Mairwen though - that made me laugh!

Floria, how's the sleep/eating going?

Alicet is temporarily offline; she hasnt deserted us.

Where is Winnie though?

Dal, hope Dylan had put a good amount of weight on!

All well here, Rebecca is all smiles today. She is still a tad nocturnal, well a lot nocturnal to be honest, so I am far from Yummy Mummy and more like mummy with eye bags. Never mind. She does 12 hours without eating anyway, and she's bang on the 50th centile. Now she just needs to learn to sleep. That need is a bit urgent though!

We're putting our house on the market, which is a crazy idea when you've got a small baby but we're doing it... we want to move and so we might as well try.

Hugs to everyone!

muppetgirl · 21/02/2008 18:11

Hi all

Henry has 9oz bottles all the time now. Does anyone think I ought to wean him? He's over 17lbs now and will be 16 weeks on monday. He shows no other signs of needing it but I am concerened about his vast milk intake. When he's finished the bottle it's not as if he's slowed down he sucks as if his life depends on it right until the last drop is gone.

Don't mind for/against replies

We had 2 of Ollie's friends over for tea and they all had a great time. Their mum is lovely so we had a good chat to. Are thinking of taking Henry swimming tomorrow as he has jabs in the afternoon and it would be fun to do in case he's off colour over the weekend.

I am still up for the London meetup, Mrs Frogi (Hi! and Welcome! All the best people are born on the 22 oct -my birthday ) maybe you could make this meet up too?

My email is
