Bumper, I am of piano. (Morning btw!) I used to have lessons, until i got to studying hard for my O'Levels (how old am I?) and didn't have enough time for proper piano practice so gave up. Miss it now. Technically we do have room for one, but we are so short of space and I can think of about 3 other things we could do with the space, so I don't think it's going to happen in this house.

milkyJammy · 24/01/2008 11:42

Might be nice in the future though if we ever move, and as you said DD could have lessons too

HellHathNoFury · 24/01/2008 11:55

hello Ladies
hope you are all well
I am back at work now. My eyes hurt still.
Foxy if my DS was ever bullied I would sure as hell want you in my corner! Ria I think the school are disgusting, they are handling it totally wrong.

I am ok.
Just found out I need to sell my car due to lack of money.
My Dad who is a moron just told my mum about our plans for her surprise 60th. Why? Because he didn't want to go.

I am going on holiday in may. I need it.

Hi Fury, Hi MHC.

May is a good time to go on holiday I think. Before places get too crowded, but still a chance of a bit of sunshine.

Just realised that C hasn't had very much to eat or drink this morning. She'd fed at 5am, so I wasn't that surprised she didn't want any milk when we got up at 6am, she had a little milk and a few mouthfuls of weetabix a bit after 7, but didn't want much as was tired, so had a nap, then a little more milk and some toast later. She refused to take more than a few sucks when I offered her milk mid morning and has just fallen asleep literally half way through lunch - she sucked the last bits of veg off the spoon in her sleep. She's been a bit listless all morning actually, so miht not be feeling so great I guess. My concern though is that I hear about how easily babies can dehydrate - I've been giving her sips of water through the latter part of the morning but am concerned. If she doesn't have a decent drink or BF after she wakes up should I worry? Her fontanelles seem a little sunken, but I'm not an expert (had to look up on the internet where they were even ). Anyone able to tell me how worried I should be? I don't want to be all PFB, but I don't want to neglect her either.

milkyJammy · 24/01/2008 12:28

Hope the bug clears up soon MHC - should have said that in 1st post, sorry.

HellHathNoFury · 24/01/2008 12:40

Hey Jammy

based on what you've said I wouldn't worry too much.
she might just be coming down with a cold or something, they go off their food when they feel under the weather apparently.
I would say provided she seems happy and well in herself and showing an interest in things I think you're ok, just keep offering her milk and water.
DS has really been through the mill with sickness lately and at no point got dehydrated (even with D&V) so you should be ok.

MHC - sorry to hear it's still doing the rounds at yours. I had norovirus (test results came back today) and it all but wiped me out, I couldn't even climb the stairs. That's why I have a red eye, I vommed so hard I burst the blood vessels in my eye. Poor you and DS.

I am going to fuerteventura. There is no childcare there but Neilson, MW, club med all so expensive plus childcare on top, and tbh they weren't really what I was looking for. So am going for some sun, sea and sand and will look after DS myself! Plus DH is very hands on and also my HV is thinking of coming with me so she has offered to babysit if we want to go out.

Poor Fury - sounds baaaad.

Jammy, I'd lay off the solids and just offer bf for the rest of the day. These things often sort themselves in 24 hours. Its good they sleep when they are ill - that's their way of fighting it.

Give NHS Direct a call if you are worried. HTH.

seconding foxy - when DS had D&V sunday/monday he slept virtually all day and night, was probably only awake for about 4 hours in 48. He also hardly ate and drank a thing, NHS direct just said basically offer them anything you know they like, even if it's sugary or whatever.

Hi Foxy!

Yes it was bad, I was pretty messed up.
I got conjunctivitis on friday and norovirus on saturday. I feel ok now (but tired and weak) and my eyes still sting but I am ok enough to come to work anyway.

How are you?

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 24/01/2008 13:03

MHC I agree. I was thinking about it y'see and I thought - I spend all day every day away from DS, I want to spend time with him on holiday!
So I won't put him in childare, we're going to have a family holiday.

And yes Neilson - omg - the price!! I was looking in lemnos too. It's nice and all but for £800 less I can stay somewhere beautiful in fuerteventura!!

milkyJammy · 24/01/2008 13:05

thanks ladies. she's just woken and had a little bf. I'm not bothered if she doesn't eat for a bit (plenty of flesh on her to last a couple of days or more!) but was worried that she'd not drunk much. But she's just had a little bf and a little water, so as long as she keeps taking some I'll hold off from the doc.

Am wondering if my supply is cutting down now that I'm dieting. But decided that having bf for 7 months, which is a good start for her, it felt more important that i start looking after myself better so took that risk.

mhc we do mark warner and don't sit around getting drunk and we like our children dh sails and I play tennis ds1 goes to the club in the morning and we spend the afternoons together when we go in may ds2 is booked into the baby club in the morning I don't see what is wrong with wanting to have a bit of time to do something for yourself on holiday sorry but your comment about getting drunk really pi**ed me off how would you know what goes on if you've never been on that sort of holiday? judgemental or what

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 24/01/2008 13:29

jammy it sounds like your lo is ok glad she has had a feed

foxythesnowman · 24/01/2008 13:35

Blimey Andie, where did that come from? I don't think MHC meant to offend, she was just saying its not for her.

How are you today?

Elsbells · 24/01/2008 13:35

Hi all
I think you may have all disappeared but just wanted to see how you ladies were doing.

Fury, just trying to catch-up, I skimmed through your exciting life!! Travelling, horse riding and so on. I wish I could say I had an exciting upbringing! And you are lucky to be going on a holiday. Like MHC (hi MHC!!!) we were looking to going to the ole USA but the fares are just plain ridiculous.

I'd rather spend £2k on a holiday of a lifetime w/DC's and DH instead of flying home. A bit selfish I know.

Not that we have £2k anyway.

Jammy hope your little one is feeding better.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH
DS has woken. No no no. Why do they wean themselves from the lunchtime nap (well he is 2 1/2)

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 24/01/2008 13:38

this foxy

i couldn't bear to use those childcare thingies - i love hanging out with my kids on holiday - i quite like them!! i'd hate it just sitting around getting drunk

HellHathNoFury · 24/01/2008 13:43

Andie I am sure MHC didn't mean that anyone who uses a childcare facility just spends their days drinking

I don't drink and I was looking for a holiday like that (but changed my mind), I certainly didn't take her to mean me for example, but on the other hand someone only has to watch Holiday showdown to know that it does happen!

OP posts:
foxythesnowman · 24/01/2008 13:46

Yes, I saw that, I just wasn't expecting a response to it like the one you posted!

Took me by surprise that's all.

foxythesnowman · 24/01/2008 13:47

Ha ha! Holiday Showdown!

CalicoHollyFlint · 24/01/2008 13:48

Afternoon

foxythesnowman · 24/01/2008 13:50
