NTE I agree. I have been so crook, if it wasn't for DH I don't know where I'd be. At one point I was too weak to even lift him.
Big, big respect for single mums.

DS has now taken to crawling with gusto and is enthusiatically destroying the house bit by bit.

NattyThomasandEllen · 21/01/2008 18:42

LittleMissNorty · 21/01/2008 18:55

Hello Natty

Hello Holly ...been very quiet recently...

CalicoHollyFlint · 21/01/2008 19:00

Hey norty and natty!

I love my pirate name! I was Calico Jenny Flint, but I changed it. They pretty much got me in the descripton as well!

"Often indecisive, you can't even choose a favorite color. You're apt to follow wherever the wind blows you, just like Calico Jack Rackham, your namesake. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!"

Ha!

Haven't caught up yet, hope everyone is well xxx

Arrrrr MHC!!

You've got a cruiser as well haven't you? Ds is driving me mad! How are you coping? I keep having to rescue mine from various dangerous situations!

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 20:11

Good luck chasing after DS Holly. I've got a feeling that when C gets moving, it won't be her that I'll have to look out for, but that I'll have to keep an eye on the cat and keep rescuing her from C. She really loves our cat and gets so very excited when Mia (the cat) comes in the room. I'm sure if Mia had milk dispensing equipment that I would be superfluous!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 21/01/2008 20:26

Evening all.

Holly, weird thing, I had a dream about you the other night, we met for the first time and your DS looked about 5 yo, and I remember thinking, ah, he's going to have a hard time later when people treat him as if he is older when he i only little

Hi all. Ria, if you are lucking, come on in an talk to us x

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 20:40

Hi Bumper, how are you?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 21/01/2008 20:47

Hi jammy, fine thanks. Did you see me and fury post about meeting up on the 2nd feb?

Went back to the community centre today. It was very scary, no-one talked to me, except the women running it. I know it'll get better but they were in their little groups and weren't that bothered about me. I did eventually engage some of them in conversation (I'm not really a wallflower ), but still it's really hard! Then a friend came over in the afternoon and we watched a video from the library on baby signing (PFB alert!)

You ok?

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 20:51

Just about. Not had a good day though. The baby group we go to on a Monday was all a bit miserable and that got to me. PLus C was tired/whingey/clingy/demanding and I knew DH wouldn't be home until late and teh weather was miserable again and it all built up and got me down. Feeling better now that C is in bed, DH is home, and we've had tea and a sit down though. And all the better still for talking to you

Will check about Feb 2nd (might have visitors, not sure if they're the 2nd or 3rd) and get back to you.

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 20:52

And well done for presevering at the community centre. It can be really hard to break into an established group.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 21/01/2008 20:57

Thanks jammy. Miserable in what way? The weather sucks and that doesn't help at all. Makes me not want to exercise or even leave the house. Fortunately I lived in N wales for 5 years so have an element of the "if yo don't do stuff just coz it's raining you'll never do anything" about me, but even I have my limits. Plus it's such a faff to get out of the house, get yourself ready, often while DD whinges, get her changed, wrapped up, changing bag, muslin, will you need food? etc. etc., it's hardly even worth it!

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 21:05

Oh, everyone there just seemed to be a bit down. Half the time we sat quietly on our own which was a bit lonely but I could hear bits of conversations about a) feeling miserable and hating ADs, b) being totally fed up and upset with HV. It's normally a lovely group but was a bit bleugh today.

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 21:08

I have to admit to being a bit slack in the getting ready to go out stakes. I put a clean nappy on her before we go, and if we're just going for a walk round or to the shops I often assume that it'll last until we get back (we're not usually gone more than 2.5 hours) and don't bother with a changing bag (though I do keep 1 disposable and some emergency wipes in a pocket of the pushchair). And unless I know we'll be out over lunchtime she has to make do with my milk if she gets hungry.

milkyJammy · 21/01/2008 21:13

But I'm off to bed now I'm afraid, hoping for a good sleep and a better day tomorrow.

Feb 2nd should be fine btw

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 21/01/2008 21:14

Night jammy, hope you feel better tomorrow

FairyFay · 21/01/2008 21:28

Evening me hearties, pirate Dirty Bess Kidd here

No teeth from DS, although he seems to have been dribbling, red faced, etc for months and months. He is crawling and rolling everywhere now so needs to be watched very carefully. He's also started pulling himself up to standing against people, sofas, etc, in the past few days - which is often followed by a tumble. It's getting very wearing as I basically need to sit next to him all the time, to catch him! He also gave himself a nosebleed today - he was over-enthusiastically crawling after DD when he bopped his nose against the floor - goodness knows how

FairyFay · 21/01/2008 21:29

Jammy, sorry to hear you are a bit blue - as has been said, I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you are back but the lead-up must be daunting.

Bumper - keep persevering with the groups, I'm sure you'll meet some nice friendly mummys

FairyFay · 21/01/2008 21:38

Hmmm, talking to myself it seems. Ho hum, better go to bed then I suppose.

justbeme · 21/01/2008 22:03

Well Im Black Ethel Cash (so we must have similar answers Norty!! - except you're more of a leader!)
Thank Jammy for the swing idea Norty!! I saw her photos first!

On that note, I bid goodnight (gone 10 o clock again)

thisisRialifebaby · 21/01/2008 22:40

I want to be a girl pirate. I'mgoing to try again.

thisisRialifebaby · 21/01/2008 22:45

FGS -

Mad Dog Flint

Part crazy, part mangy, all rabid, you're the pirate all the others fear might just snap soon. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!
