Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hey all....sorry for unexplained absence.....been v hectic here chez Brownie (as always)
Had day from hell yesterday - had to take T to docs (cough still no better, over approx 6 weeks now!) thougth he may have chest infection - but as it turns out, chest is fine, but he does have tonsilitis (white pus spots on his inflamed tonsils - poor lamb) so this could explain night wakings?! Anyway, as if all of this wasn't enough, only got blocked in the doctors car park by a delivery lorry - the imbecile driver couldn't turn the key in the lock and get the wheel lock off......over 40 minutes I waited, eventually having to shunt backwards and forwards to manouever car out of tight spot (after waiting for another car to move first) so was not best chuffed - especially as the driver had the nerve to have a go at me cos I asked him how long he was going to be cos I had a sick child in the car that I needed to get home - AAAGGGHHH was to say the least...

Anyway, all sorted and back home now - T is on antibiotics, and hasn't moaned or complained about his throat once - little love.

Not sure about joingin another group, with the ttc thing....think it would be too weird - you are all my family so would feel kind of guilty as if having some secret dalliance with others! silly hey!? Have spoken to dh about the ttc thing - think we will see what happens this year - so Diege - the challenge is set now - if nothing has happened for us by end of next year, think will call a day and stick at 1. Ah yes, think we should be doing the horrixonatal baby dance thing thoought - so this may be where we are going wrong - yes!?

Have child free night on Sautrday - and am off out with a load of mates, so am gonna let hair down (this was how T was conceived - am sure he should be called prot & lemon! )

Night all,
off to bed now
x

BrownieBells · 22/01/2008 22:08

Gosh - one galss of wine & lemonade, and 1 G&T and my spelling goes to pot - sorry!
x

BrownieBells · 22/01/2008 22:08

oops did it again!?
xx

twinkle1 · 23/01/2008 10:35

hi all,
Its crazy here today as its DS1 9th birthday.Nine i can't belive how time fly's!!!!
Meet up dates again i can do 12/13 or 19/20 but not 26/27 as im at a wedding in Devon
We need to settle on a date so we can book some cheap rail tickets Diege would we be able to meet at picadilly and travel down together????

feetheart · 23/01/2008 13:57

I have finally appeased the Inland Revenue and finished my tax return - apparently I owe £2.90, obviously a high earning year So now I'm back!

Hopefully I've caught up - sorry to hear about the hospital stay Twinkle but good advice on here as usual, especially Londoner's about doing what you would tell someone else to do. Also like someone's bit about looking after OUR twins You have too many online sisters/aunties who will jump on you if you don't do as you are told!!!

GG - well done with the sale, hope all the rest of it goes smoothly. I agree with the others, you are handling the whole horrible situation with such strength and determination. Don't forget that we are here if it all gets a bit much as well.

ChaCha - hope you are feeling a bit better. That sister/auntie bit goes for you too!

Londoner - I'm with you on the nappies front. I have no intention of doing anything about potty training until the summer unless A begs me. T let us know when she was ready and it was a breeze, not necessarily expecting it to be as easy this time but I'm not going to concern myself with it until he's ready. Something I read ages ago might help those feeling a bit pressured by others - "Trained at 2, dry at 3; trained at 3, dry at 3"
A also still has a bottle before bed and if he has a nap. With T we waited until she was old enough to ask if she wanted a 'big girl's cup', when she said yes we went with it.
Our bed/cot situation is about to change as we are currently decorating T's room (at last her room will be how she wants it and not how the spare room used to be ) As part of this T is getting a cabin bed and A will get her cotbed. He has been practising with it as T is in his room at the moment and we keep finding them in bed together! Its very, very sweet as T is usually telling him stories

Having a bit of a yellow day today!! Have finished touching up the paint in T's room (yellow is her favourite colour so of course the walls are yellow) and have untied 11 yellow tie-dye t-shirts. I rashly decided to make the birthday presents for all of T's friends this year (well those in our 'group') so T could be involved. To my horror that totalled 16 children with birthdays in the next 3 months . Add a few extra for T and A and that's a lot of tieing/dying/untieing. I was doubly rash when I decided to have 2 colours per t-shirt!!! There may be ranting on here as I go, not so quietly, insane

A. currently out so I could get painting/tax return done and kitten at vet's being 'done'. Really, really strange not having anyone to interrupt/demand attention. I keep looking round for one of them. Going to sit and read for a while before the madness returns

Love to all not mentioned by name.

feetheart · 23/01/2008 13:58

Sorry for epic, will try and keep posts shorter and more regular from now on

BTKsmum · 23/01/2008 21:12

Hi girls

I'll check those dates but at the moment I think I can do any of them.

Chacha fab will look out for you and add you to my buddies link i'm beksbt on there. If you look up www.scrabulous.com/sowpods you can check if a word actually exists before using or chaleenging it!

Right gotta go only supposed to have popped up to check on the boys Beks

ChaCha · 23/01/2008 22:15

BB - ahhh...so that's what was wrong with the little man, poor thing. DS1 had it a few days before we went away (back in October) and I didn't even know until the temperature started - looking back all the signs were there Hope he feels better asap but sounds like he's a very brave boy and is doing just fine, hope you are too!

Feetheart - T-shirts sound fab and very impressive tax return! Yellow colour of the day here too, daffodils are everywhere!!! Good hearing about bottles/nappies - think i will be doing same, no point in stressing either party i think. Thanks for colelaw suggestion - I tried yours today and found that the apple and sultanas made a nice change - DC loved it too, thanks for that. I made the coleslaw, some potato salad and chicken kebab skewers on rice - was yummy and have enjoyed keeping food down for more than 24 hours..yupeee!

All in bed so think will go and join, DH home after 9pm everyday, is soooo tiring sometimes. Love x

BTKsmum · 24/01/2008 14:09

Hi girls I can't do the 26/27th as have a party that weekend. All the rest are fine though Beks

babyonboard · 24/01/2008 17:14

Hello everyone

It's been frickin ages. (Hope I'm still welcome )
I hope you are all well. I will try to catch up asap...theres just so much I don't know where to start reading from! lol.

We are all great. O and S are the best of friends, it's so lovely to see them interacting and learning together , such a joy every day!
Of course there are fights but thats to be expected. teehee
O is a ball of energy and loves getting muddy, figuring out how things work, climbing, painting and modelling, and caring for his hamster 'Boo' (Named after his favourite cbeebies programme) anyone know the one?
S is the exact opposite. She loves nothing more than to sit with people and 'chat', to read books, to watch me in the kitchen, play with her teddies and tidy after O. She isn't walking but is really ahead with her language.

Perhaps there is something in the gender stereotypes!? Lol

I am still just full time mummying but have had a bit of success with my clothes business. It's called Jasami. Myself and my friend are working together and at the moment are concentrating on screenprinting baby vests and bibs and toddler t shirts (organic cotton, fair trade, natch), plus sun hats and bandanas. We are just selling to friends and a few local shops but it is lovely to have a 'hobby'. I am also excited to be my best friends maid of honour in July. It will be really great fun and I am loving helping with the planning.

We are still living in London and hoping to move soon, I think we need more outdoor space before next summer or I will go mad. We are considering Bromley (any tips Beks) or Beckenham or perhaps even leaving the London area altogether (eek)

I hope to catch up and chat with you all soon.

babyonboard · 24/01/2008 17:16

p.s what's with this new mumsnet format!?

I don't like it very much...

novadandypowder · 24/01/2008 21:25

Lovely update bob thanks for dropping by. You can change the format back so that it looks like it used to (I hated it too so changed it straight away), can't remember how but I think there should be an option up there somewhere (nova points to bits above message).

babyonboard · 25/01/2008 16:08

Oh my Gosh big congratulations to Chacha and doubly big to Twinkle!
How exciting!
Is it just you two or are there others on the way I have missed?

Belated happy birthdays, merry christmas and happy new year etc.
Sorry to have lost touch again. I haven't had internet connection at home for ages now and internet cafes with two tots are not an option, lol!

Could I ask a question about contraception? We have been using condoms, which isn't so fun , mainly because I can't decide what option is best.
I no longer trust the pill, I have very heavy periods anyway so am worried the coil will make them worse, and don't like the idea of the implant.
To be honest I really think I don't want anymore children (and certainly no 'surprise' ones) so have even considered something more permanant.
What do you all do?

I will keep reading back to see all of your news, hehehe.

twinkle1 · 25/01/2008 16:10

WOW nova thank you so much for the phil and ted stuff!!!!!!!!! are you sure i cant give you something for them???
And the lepoard print paper they were wrapped in caused a HUGE stir with the village postmen im sure they think i have suddenly gone all exotic i have'nt laughed so much in ages!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks again
Twinkle

twinkle1 · 25/01/2008 17:00

bob hi,
try the mirena coil its great it has a hormone coat that reduces periods to either v light or none at all I had one in, before i had it taken out to try for josh.I after the first three months i had no periods for 1.5 yrs yeahh.
Twinkle

ChaCha · 25/01/2008 19:50

Hi BoB - Good to see you, you have been a stranger so long! Nice to hear about your LOs - hope everything is well with you all. Not much help with the contraception i'm afriad but also something i'll need to think about later in the year.

LOL at village postmen - there'll be a wink and a nod everytime you have to sign for something now

All quiet on here, hope everyone is just very busy but well. We are doing okay, DS1 going through wrestling stage at moment and caused some havoc in Jamboray yesterday - really didn't know what to do other than to apologise to other parents. Hopefully is just another phase, and to think i used to worry about him being pushed around!

12 week scan on Monday, quite excited about this one. And DS2 is 1 (can't believe it) in just over a couple of weeks [sigh] Nothing much else happening here, counting the minutes till i can have my bath and an early night. Love x

Diege · 25/01/2008 22:01

Just popping in to say hi! Sorry, forgot to book my away pass - I've been in London with work, and just got back today, so will be furiously marking the A level papers again for the next few weeks!!! .
I've lost track of the London date organising, although I now know I can't do the 12/13th April as it's the London marathan that weekend, and dh is doing it!!Yes TWINKLE, we could meet at Piccadily, no probs . Hi BOB!!!Good to hear from you - you are too modest - that's not a hobby you've got it's a burgeoning business! Right, must get those expenses forms filled in!

Rodeo · 25/01/2008 22:55

Evening all!
Bob - lovely to hear from you! It has been ages! Well done on the new business - have you got a website /ebay shop we can browse?
Chacha - hope yuo got your bath and early bed Don't worry about the wrestling, think all boys (and some girls) go through it. Hopefully will soon pass (Who am I kidding! ) fingers crossed anyway! Enjoy your scan on Monday!
Diege, very wise to miss London that weekend! Let's do the 19th/20th - I've not applied for 10k yet and they'll be loads of others. Shall we get a triple room between us? I'll try and hunt something reasonable down, getting addicted to TripAdvisor.com at the mo, any excuse to go on there!
Nova, I've not had an riding update yet! I had a fab ride today, took the horses out in the horse box for a gallop, weather was lovely Nothing quite like it to lift your spirits!
FH well done with the dreaded tax return! !Love, love, LOVE the tie-dye T-shirt present idea That's great, am tempted to do it myself, but will need guidance!
Brownie, sorry T's been so poorly That has really dragged on hasn't it? Good news about yout TTCing though, I'm sure it will happen, just get off the computer and get upstairs woman! (with dh, not book or magazine which is my current preference !)
Can anyone remember last year about a local family who had the children with the names (Peppermint, Rogue, Frodo etc)? They called their baby girl Blackbird, can you remember? Well they've just had another little girl and named her Widget SinnFein. Beyond words, I know!
Right I'm off to trawl for flights again, me and my best friend are on a joint birthday jaunt hopefully around June! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Speak tomorrow x x x

twinkle

Diege · 26/01/2008 10:13

Oooh well done you lot with trip planning! Yes, weekend 20th sound fab - that's really good of you though RODEO to change your plans, are you sure it's OK? Re: accomodation, thought we were staying with BEKS? Just ignore me if I've got the wrong end of the stick . TWINKLE, ditto here with cold, though I wouldn't even start to compare! Train fare sounds reasonable - presume that's off peak for returning though (which we would be any way, plus it's a sunday coming back which is all off peak anyway?, ramble, ramble...).
Well, off to Wales today for nephew's birthday. Speak later!

BTKsmum · 26/01/2008 12:56

Right girls 19th/20th April it is then, Rodeo, Diege, Twinkle and GG you're all welcome to stay with me as long as two of you don't mind sharing a double sofa bed!

Right got to go being harrassed by a 5 year old who wants to go on the computer - don't you just hate smart kids! Beks

twinkle1 · 26/01/2008 17:04

Beks,
That sounds wonderful to me as long as you can cope with us can we catch the tube to your house??????
Diege what time are we setting off from picaddily????????

Im quite excited now hope i dont need a wheelbarrow to get around in by then!!!! think i will be about 25 weeks by then. Who else can meet up with us while we are down???I can't belive this will be the first time i have met some of you in person
twinkle

ChaCha · 26/01/2008 18:08

Rodeo - I am looking at holidays and getting a little carried away. Self-catering villa in Turkey was great last year so am looking for the same but in Cyprus i think (the North for us) but Malaysia also looking tempting but Cyprus affordable and means another possible holiday later in year. Hmmm..must give DH travel plans before he changes his mind and before he goes away so guilt factor is still very high lol.

Hope everyone is well. Looks like London weekend set then, now what are you all planning and is it chachaish?

GreedyGecko · 26/01/2008 19:22

Right, 19th/20th it is! Will put in holiday form tomorrow. Beks are you sure thats ok for us? Will the boys get any sleep?

I have to say I really hate xp, I really do. Itr's one thing screwing me around, but aohter when he letsthe boys down. Some crap about scaffolding. Grrrrrr!
