OMG - I know that feeling JBM, and I had mine for 4 days and 3 nights.....

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 27/12/2007 21:17

So glad we had a parent-free zone here (other than the fact that we are now parents of course, but YKWIM)

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 27/12/2007 21:17

I managed 2-3 hours with mine... bloody FIL wants a big fat slap. One day...

I have just deleted a big rant by accident

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/12/2007 21:20

Me and DH have been whinging about MIL for hours now....last night I said to DH how I had such a headache....and he said "your bloody headache is downstairs and she'll be gone by this time tomorrow" and guess what.....my headache has gone

NEXT YEAR....BILs turn

justbeme · 27/12/2007 21:21

Ive got my Mum and Dad here for 3 nights now - I think DP is getting abit stressed now!!

The Next sale online for babies is rubbish isnt it? Unless you have a newborn theres nothing for our little ones.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/12/2007 21:23

JBM - I thought that about Next as I was searching by size, but when I changes and searched by other things - girls tops etc, I found loads more in 6-9 month size - worth a go

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 27/12/2007 21:27

It's great when you can do MIL-bitching with DH!

different rant now, but as we're slating MILs I can't resist. The baggins-christening debate continues. DH was wanting to get on with it but as we can't afford a "do" we decided we would invite people to the church if they wanted to come but we were just taking our kids to a pub with a soft play for Sunday lunch afterwards. MIL asked if they could come and bring BILs & kids etc, and they would pay for them all (but not us?). Luckily we haven't bothered as my sister is coming home in July, so we told MIL we were waiting til then as my family haven't all been together since the Millenium. MIL was appalled and said (proudly) "I didn't see my brother for 40 years" (and they've only bothered find him now cos he's rich...) Also, July/August isn't good for them as they & all the BILs are going on holiday together!

We weren't asked. Not that we would go.

So DH wants the christening when they are away. Bless him.

Sorry, never brief am I?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 27/12/2007 21:28

Well, I'm off to bed. My cold has been getting worse and worse all day. I'm sitting next to 2 big bags of stuff from Lush and I can't smell a thing I'm that bunged up. And my head hurts and my throat's sore and I'm hot and achey all over . (And sorry for myself, can you tell? )

justbeme · 27/12/2007 21:30

Hope you have a good sleep Jammy

Ria - how maddening is that???
Glad DH has seen sense! - Who would you ask as God parents?

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/12/2007 21:32

Jammy - sleep well and hope you feel better in the morning.

Ria - it really helps when DH feels the same as you about his own family.... We haven't even been asked about christenings yet....but we're ready (cos we're not having her done) and she won't approve ....like we care

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 27/12/2007 21:41

Thinl I'll ask my sisters, and maybe my nephew who will be 12. I don't want to ask my BF any more as she has turned into a proper cow since she kicked her husband out (that was what my deleted rant was about )

MIL didn't come to DS1s cos they had fallen out with DH. They made up when SHE summoned DH to carry a rich, childless Uncles coffin. They are truly the worst people in the world. We are going to make our visits much briefer I think. Yippee!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/12/2007 21:45

That's what we do - small doses!!

I'm off to bed - work in the morning

Nite all x

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 27/12/2007 22:09

nite x

justbeme · 27/12/2007 22:12

Oh poor you Norty!

I cant find anything in the sales online - suppose I'll have to hit the shops tomorrow!

Night all x

HellHathNoFury · 28/12/2007 07:57

Norty I love the photos of your DD on FB.

Hope everyone is well.
I am going back home today, I have been invited to an NCT do. DH has had a 'sideways promotion' and his new boss has an 8 month old so we have been invited over with their NCT buddies for tea and cake.

I am only going to show off DS as he is a superstar.

DS is doing well. Met up with my HV on xmas eve as DS is refusing to eat.
He was screaming and point blank refusing to eat anything, he was having 3 bottles during the night (lovely) but nothing all day no matter how hard/what we tried. We actually met up with her for a curry in 'mate capacity' but I figured I would collar her HV-ness while I was there

She said 'I think he wants a sandwich'.

So we went home, made him a tuna and mayo sandwich, lo and behold he ate it.
Has since happily had cauliflower cheese, cheesy mash, tuna sarnies, weetabix, cream cheese sarnies, and copious amounts of fromage frais and custard. Weird child.

HellHathNoFury · 28/12/2007 08:07

Perhaps I should put the last post into context.

DS decided he hated purees despite only trying a few and went straight onto chewy/finger foods. Not my choice.... lots messier lol!

He has also virtually shunned milk. I pity the nursery, they are going to have their work cut out.

Bumper how is DD's blw going?

xmaspudnik · 28/12/2007 10:51

That's interesting Fury, Baby Sputnik doesn't seem much interested in milk during the day, but falls on rice cakes or bananas like some kind of industrial grinder. Then he wants milk all night. I should get going properly with the BLW.

Anyway, I'm back home to a freezing house but at least it's sunny here [ducks]

Glad you all had good ones, LOL at the cotton buds

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 28/12/2007 11:44

Hi all. Am also interested re Ss sandwich habit. baggins has taken to feeding all night again so maybe I should step up to 3 solid meals. I was trying not to rush him so he didn't get grown up too quick.
I really want him to have a bottle now as my chest gets bigger every day! (and I don't think BF is burning calories off for me). Sometimes he will take a couple of ounces out of a soft spout cup, but only sometimes, and if he will use a cup would a cup be ok for nighttime?
I didn't have this problem with the big boys, they took to bottles like they'd never been fed before!

BadZelda · 28/12/2007 11:59

I have the same problem with my LO...trying to have a writing day today, whilst DH takes the kids to soft play...but just called him and he 'hadn't got around' to giving LO her 11 o'clock feed at least she is happy to snack on any food that comes her way, so she won't starve, but it's hardly reassuring, as I know she'll only wake up tonight and want it.
..and it won't be him getting up to feed her.

trace2 · 28/12/2007 12:04

a big thank you to my ss i love my prezzies and yes it will help me relax but m&s chocs gone yum yum. and i love the little girl rag doll for chloe takes pride in her bedroon!

daisy thinking of you,

carnt belive you all on feeding chloe still only eats little mash food tried giving her bread but when she knows its food wont put to her mouth. plus am scared she will choke,

xmaspudnik · 28/12/2007 12:45

BF not burning calories for me either. Put on a kg over xmas, which brings me to 1kg over my post-birth weight
I am going to start a new weight-loss drive (yeah yeah...)

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 28/12/2007 12:56

OMG - not a discussion about weight ...I've REALLY got to do something about it when I've eaten all the crap in my house!

Back at work and back to normal...its great....headache gone and house back to ourselves ...just got to clean it at the weekend.

I want to buy in the sales but can't find any good bargains AAARRRGGGHHHH......

BTW.....any advice about 2nd stage car-seats? Any of you got one yet? Isn't it 9kg she needs to be?

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 28/12/2007 13:03

I am a big fatty! I know it's bfing causing me to be fat. I lost a stone when I stopped bfing dd. Although I am about being fat I am perfectly prepared to be a chubster for another year or more. I think it is worth it!

Yes norty, it's 9kg or about 20lbs. Personally I think a Maxi Cosi Priori is the way forward. They win every safety test, are super easy to fit and come in some really pretty colours! DD has a pink one with flowers on and DS has a cow print one. There are loads of companies selling new ones on ebay for much less than the shops.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 28/12/2007 13:49

I'll second the Maxi Cosi Priori - I've used them for DS1 & 2 and they're fab. However we have one in boy colours (grey and black - I'm very boring).

I know what you mean about bf making you keep the weight on, Holly. I stopped bf with DS2 after 4 weeks and lost all the baby weight immediately. I've given myself til Easter when we're due at a wedding in Singapore to lose a stone - somehow, I just don't think it's going to happen!

xmaspudnik · 28/12/2007 14:14

Perhaps I should modify that to "I am going to start a weight loss drive as soon as I finish the stilton and christmas cake I brought home with me"
