afternoon, daisy, hope you feel better soon. sounds awful.

annobal sorry you've had a shit night too

pretty sure dd is poorly too. she has had 3 naps today including 1.5 hours in her crib (unheard of) and an hour in the sling while i washed up and stuff [aching shoulders smiley!] and now is whinging with a runny nose.

BUT pass me the Lentil Weaver Mummy of the week award - I just made mince pies while dd slept in the sling! ok they don't look great but i expect they'll taste ok.

HellHathNoFury · 13/12/2007 17:29

poor daisy

My god is there a healthy one amongst us?
Actually... Baby Fury is sooo much better! GP today says no need for eyedrops any more and he has been cheerful and bouncy all day!

DH went to GP though and was told he had a virus which has become a secondary bacterial infection thanks to him not resting. nice one.

And I went to GP and had a myriad of blood tests, woohoo

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 13/12/2007 17:47

I'm feeling much better....I had some chicken earlier and that stayed put, so I've had some crunchy nut cornflakes as I'm bloody starving. BFing and fasting don't really work together!

Glad DS is better fury and that your DH is better soon.

Managed to get my SS pressie wrapped so it's just ready for the post now. Got to get the MN appeal one sorted too, then that's another two jobs done.

DS went to Toys'R'Us and got the last bits for DD and some thing for the nephews...so only neice2 and DH to buy for now! And I've no idea what to get for DH; we have too much stuff already.

I haven't written any Christmas cards yet either; and I just can't be arsed!

{Jammy empties the medicine cabinet, including a range of conventional and alternative medicinal remedies, and scatters them amongst the MNers and their families}

What an afternoon! My dinner out was very nice (though dessert was disappointing) but when I got back I found that DD had been tricky for DH for the 4 hours I'd been out, crying, being sick and refusing to eat or sleep. She was all smiles when I got in, and had a HUGE feed from me (which was good as norks were swollen) and a bit of solids and is now asleep on my lap. So maybe she missed her mummy, which is lovely if a bit scary in that I'll now worry next time I'm out (like Sat night, when my parents are babysitting)

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2007 20:07

Is anyone around tonight?

HellHathNoFury · 13/12/2007 20:08

I am here, while DS grizzles in his travel cot alone and I do my best to tune it out

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2007 20:10

Hi fury. Similar problem here. DD has been singing and chatting to herself for over an hour now. Her latest being "Hmmm it's daytime, I s get up", I don't think so madam. I just wish she'd go to sleep as I find it really hard to relax until she does, and I can't really do any jobs because if she hears me moving around it'll just make things worse. Grump, grump, grump!

HellHathNoFury · 13/12/2007 20:11

yes ditto!
He is in bed - fed, changed, but will he sleep? No. All he wants to do is have a conversation with his toy. He has been doing this for almost an hour.
GO TO BED!

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2007 20:18

I've just been in to her again, there's nothing wrong she's just wide awake. I probably let her nap too long this afternoon. It's nights like this when I'm really thankful that she's not in a bed yet, otherwise she'd be up and down the stairs as well. I wanted to get an early night tonight but it doesn't look like I'll be able to grrrrrrrr

justbeme · 13/12/2007 20:39

sorry to hear so many of you are ill - Daisy, take it easy, that sounded awful.
Hope you're feeling more upbeat now Annobal.

L has decided in last few days that she doesnt want to be put in her cot at bedtime - she cries and cries. Ive tried resting my hand on her, but she wont calm down, walking away and leaving her for 5 mins and then going back in etc - any ideas?

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2007 20:43

Hi JBM. Does she have a favourite toy that you could safely leave in her cot? I found that that helped with DD. I think she felt lonely and a familiar object helped.

Otherwise, I think you can only keep doing what you are doing - it worked for me with DS but it took quite a few days, unfortunately.

justbeme · 13/12/2007 20:51

Hi Fairy - no she hasnt really got a favourite toy yet, - In the end tonight she finally went off after I left the room - It was as though me being there was more distressing for her.
Glad your DD has finally gone off!

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2007 21:01

DS went through a period like that a few weeks ago. He used to cry so his dummy fell out, I'd leave him 5 mins or so, go in and stroke his forehead and replace the dummy and he'd do it again. It was almost like he needed to cry to exhaust himself. He did it for a few days and then went back to going down fine again - so hopefully it'll just be a blip for you too.

Sputnik · 13/12/2007 21:02

I recently got one of those things that plaays relaxing music and a lightshow to put in the cot. He drifts off pretty happily with that most nights. It's also activated if he wakes up and cries. Could be something to try JBM.

justbeme · 13/12/2007 21:09

Hi Sputnik - Ive got a Tomy Light show thing, but tonight I thought it seemed to annoy her more - Its strapped onto her cot at head level- otherwise the pictures on the ceiling are at an awkward level for her - I suppose if you are upset, it must be horrible to have music playing and lights near your ear!! So in the end I switched it off!
I think sometimes too much stimulation is too much IYKWIM?

Sputnik · 13/12/2007 21:14

Hmm maybe it was too much stimulation then. At least she went off in the end

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2007 21:18

Hi Sputnik. N'night all..........

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 13/12/2007 21:22

Well, that's most of the Xmas presents wrapped . But I can't face all the books we're giving to friends' children, there's a dozen of them and I've just had enough for tonight. But must do them soon as they need to be posted. Mmmm, the annual post-office bill, for all the parcels and cards (cripes! got those to write still). I think we must keep the PO solvent at Xmas

Sputnik · 13/12/2007 21:30

It's times like this I'm kind of glad I have such a tiny family. I do have a pressie I need to wrap tonight though, it's the kid's party at DH's work tomorroww and I have to wrap Baby Sputnik's present. The elves already have dD's.

justbeme · 13/12/2007 21:30

Next year Jammy why dont you send Book tokens or vouchers - nothing to wrap then, it includes the card and posted for the price of a stamp!!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 13/12/2007 21:32

Because, we buy a pack of 12 books for £10. and getting a book looks good, but getting a £1 or £2 token looks mean.
