I want a new house!!!!!

Don't get me wrong I love my little house, but that's the problem! It's too little, and you really notice that when its stuffed to the gills with new presents/toys, christmas food, and visitors!

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 28/12/2007 23:43

Can I help you choose a new house then, while I'm on an advice roll?!

Phoenix · 28/12/2007 23:43
EachPeachPearMum · 28/12/2007 23:45

LOL! I don't even know where I want to live yet!

Need inspiration....

We bought this one when (at 6 months pg!!!) Dh said one morning 'We need to buy a house, or we'll never get on the ladder' I'd only been saying that for 5 years....

So, from his proclamation to an offer being accepted, took 10 days, then we moved in Christmas eve 2005.

EachPeachPearMum · 28/12/2007 23:48

So, whilst this house is gorgeous (we went for a victorian terrace, in a busy 'village' of Bham, that had just been completely refurbished inside and out) it doesn't have any all of the essential things we wanted ie a hall, a garage, a drive, more than 2 bedrooms, an attic, a downstairs 'cloakroom' (rofl- DH thought I meant somewhere to hang coats when I told him I wanted one ) etc etc

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 28/12/2007 23:50

Any way to exrtnd rather than move? Loft? Out the back? Buy next door?!!

Phoenix · 28/12/2007 23:52

Our house is small too. We've had the attic done out so that is ds' bedroom now and it's quite big. We have our bedroom then a small spare room (used to be ds' room) that is bursting with crap so if we were to have another baby god knows where we'd put it lol. We also don't have a garden as such. Its communal at the back and 2 neighbours have big dogs so we rarely go out there and a small paved bit at the front. I wish we could afford to move house.

I really should be in bed by now i've got work at 8.30 in morning.

EachPeachPearMum · 28/12/2007 23:54

Unfortunately, the stairs go across the middle of the house, so extending into the loft would mean major works (a neighbour just did this- took MONTHS and the mess!) There isn't much room out the back, and the kitchen was extended during the refurb (kitchen is really long and airy- southfacing garden) and we just spent a fortune having the garden landscaped this summer

Maybe buy next door! But that doesnt have a drive, hall, garage etc

EachPeachPearMum · 28/12/2007 23:57

The other minus points for where we are now are the horrific commute I have to work, and the commute we're facing for dd's school (assuming she goes to the one at the top of our consideration list IYSWIM). Pluses are the distance to shops/amenities, and to MILs house (both 5 mins)

Frizbe · 29/12/2007 09:18

If you buy next door, you turn the front room into the garage, then you can have hall and another room on the back?, plus that gives you the extra 2 rooms upstairs?

Anyone heard from Chloe? hoping you're not involved in the horrible dog incident on the news hon. (I know 'we' hate the collective 'hon', but am using it on this thread amongst friends only!) really feeling for that poor boys parents

CSWS hmm its an idea.... at your MIL though, some people are just barking!
dh and I watched meet the fockers last night, I soo hope we're as amusing as his parents when our kids start doing the boyfriend, girlfriend thing

MRM your day sounds like heaven (this coming from the girl who volunteered to do the shop early shift, so I could have some me time!) a whole day with a book and a coffee, with intermittent shopping that you don't really have to do (just for joy, rather than necessity) ahhhhhh bliss.....

Phoenix, lol at taking down tree our's only got up the other week, so it can stay for another at least!

Hi Jas, CS, Macca, Teuch and anyone else whose about!

What you all got planned this weekend then?
I'm in shop today, juggling kids tomorrow whilst dh in shop, then meeting bil and family at a pub halfway between here and Brum tomorrow evening (venue still tba! Lichfield maybe?) to do xmas prezzies for the kids now that shop is open, the brothers are using it as an excuse not to properly meet/go to each others house???? I don't geddit?

FlameNFurter · 29/12/2007 15:35

F*ck.

Forgot leave a message for you yesterday Kel - I hope that you got through the funeral ok How you doin?

Frizbe · 29/12/2007 17:15

Oh B* I forgot too Kel, how rubbish am I....hope your doing as well as can be

Friggin freezing here, have just looked up room rate for local posh 4 star hotel (we stayed there one night for our wedding party) and just so know we can't afford it, but am so fed up with being cold and having no hot water, and knowing it won't be fixed until at least Wed is slowly killing me (on the bright side at least we have a roof over our heads, which lots of people haven't) I'm so tempted to max out our credit card and have at least one night in comfort and warmth (with the kids in an adjoining room!) There's too many of us to go to mum and dad's they just don't have the room....(well they do but its full of their stuff! and we'd all fall out...) on the plus side, as its forecast to go below zero tonight, our heating my kick in again like last time, and then I'll be again.

CantSleighWontSleigh · 29/12/2007 17:18

Bum - was it yesterday? Hope it went 'ok' Kel.

Where do you have to commute to EPPM?

No idea what we're up to tomorrow Friz, but today we had a joint birthday party for 2 of my antenatal group babies.

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 29/12/2007 18:57

What horrible dog incident?

Phoenix · 29/12/2007 19:00

In the town where i grew up and work a 1 year old has been killed by his granparents rottweiller

Phoenix · 29/12/2007 19:02

I'm not feeling well today and am off to bed soon. Been cold all day even with pj's, dressing gown and blanket, now got a tickly cough and feel a bit achey (sp?)

Phoenix · 29/12/2007 19:04

Here mrm

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 29/12/2007 19:33

Urghh

DontDreamItBeIt · 29/12/2007 21:14

I'm not clickin that link I heard it on the news earlier

We're home (Jas and co) and have no more excitement planned.
I'm considering taking down our tree tomorrow, but it might last til NYD

FlameNFurter · 29/12/2007 21:17

Fabulous - we're on the same theme for the new year name changin then

for your lack of heat Friz, and you feeling rough PG (I know you aren't PG anymore, but it still feels normal to write it)

We got money from everyone for Christmas, so went and bought the new 360 today (the one DH insisted we sell to get the wii ) - I am now a tad hooked on pinata villages

DontDreamItBeIt · 29/12/2007 21:21

It is on at about 2 am this year!

DD spent the whole day we visited mil playing on their new wii. I think it's best tha we don't have one, or xbox360 DP and dd1 are bad enough on the oldgames we already have.

CantSleighWontSleigh · 29/12/2007 21:33

Ah right, I get the name thing now (although still haven't seen it).

Why are you all taking down your Christmas stuff so early? We leave it til 12th night usually (or slightly earlier if dh will be away on 12th night).

Are we the only people who have never owned any sort of games console ?

FlameNFurter · 29/12/2007 21:35

12th night here too. Although DS may end up with no hands before then

I wouldn't own a console were I not married to a geek.

DontDreamItBeIt · 29/12/2007 21:40

Likewise with the console owning.....not mine your honour.

I have put the coat stand in the new bathroom to make this room look nice with the Christmas tree in it, but you can't get into the bathroom now - a perfect excuse for dp not to get back to work.
I may wait til after the first though.
