Phoenix · 01/01/2008 20:49

EPPM - I work on collections for Royal Mail.

Sorry csws not ignoring the chickenpox but i've no idea of what to do so its a good job there's other people that do. Hope it isn't chickenpox though

Phoenix · 01/01/2008 20:50

Oh and i might work til 7 but i don't start til 1.40 so its not that bad i get all morning with ds

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 20:57

LOL at 'it's dark'! At least she's observant!

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 20:59

phoenix- I think I might have asked that before! sorry All the royal mail people I know work at the other end of the day... getting up at 3am etc yuck! I could probably handle starting at 1:40

CantSleighWontSleigh · 01/01/2008 21:15

EPPM - do you really love St Elmo's Fire? It's one of my fave films ever . What other films do you like?

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 21:18

Yes! I love it! and Pretty in Pink, breakfast club, Ferris Bueller, Dirty Dancing...
Isn't it our age?

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 21:19

'do you really love St Elmo's Fire?' Why would I just go on a thread and make up that? roffle.

CantSleighWontSleigh · 01/01/2008 21:20

To some extent yes, but SEF had terrible reviews even when it was released! So go on then, which one do/did you fancy the most in it?

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 21:33

erm, is there anyone in that film other than Andrew McCarthy?

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 21:33

please don't say its estevez for you!

CantSleighWontSleigh · 01/01/2008 21:37

Hurrah - right answer! Although I've come round to Rob Lowe in later years. Can I have them both?

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 21:45

you can definitely keep lowe! Ahh, Andrew McCarthy,

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 21:53

He looks a little odd though these days... sorry

Frizbe · 01/01/2008 22:08

estevez, really? Lowe I can see
Well watched the Heroes pilot, tis quite different in places! interesting to see they've removed the heavily religious aspect from it.
On here for a few sec's till Jam and Jerusalem!

CantSleighWontSleigh · 01/01/2008 22:13

Just for you EPPM.

CantSleighWontSleigh · 01/01/2008 22:14

No Friz - we don't want Estevez! We want Andrew!

Frizbe · 01/01/2008 22:50

trust me to get it wrong again, sidles off looking

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 22:56

Roffle! That takes me back!
I really did like weedy effeminate men in those days . Think River Phoenix, Andrew McCarthy, etc Oh and Harrison Ford...

Could I ask you a question on a different topic?

re schools and looking round them- did you take dd with you? Did you just go to open days, or did you also visit during school hours? Have you made your final choice? Is dd starting in sept? Does she have to be toilet trained before starting?

Ok, erm that wasn't one question was it?

The open days for the schools we're interested in are coming up- they're ALL on the same day! Gah . I thought we should take her so we can see her reaction to the environment, but by the time we get to the third (if we even get that far!) she's bound to have a meltdown- will be right across lunch and nap time!

I am worried, as the one we like most is single sex, and I'm not sure about segregation at such a young age, though academically its the best one. Also, many independents round here are church schools, and I am really against religious schools (of any faith). The school I originally thought would be 2nd choice (excellent for music) is actually CE

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 22:57

OMG- Dh just brought me a drink (peppermint tea) and was asking what we were talking about- when I told him, he gushed 'Oh I really love Pretty in Pink and Breakfast Club!'

How do you live with someone for 14 years and not know that about them!

DontDreamItBeIt · 01/01/2008 22:58

No idea re schools.

I swear I was in a different 1980's to the rest of the world
I haven't even seen most of hose films, and wouldn't boher if they were on now!

Phoenix · 01/01/2008 23:04

I was only born in Dec '80 and have not seen any of those films Dh has got St Elmo's fire on dvd but it doesn't interest me. I did go through a Emilio phase when i first watched Young Guns. Not keen on him now but still love Keifer

DontDreamItBeIt · 01/01/2008 23:12

Do you have to keep reminding me how old I am Phoenix?[grr]

ds is still awake, playing. Heslept for an hour this lunch ime. I though as he was up at 6.30 we would be ok, but no. He has other ideas.

Frizbe · 01/01/2008 23:12

Not even Dirty Dancing Phoenix?

EPPM ok here's my answers...
re schools and looking round them- did you take dd with you?
Took dd2, not dd1 who is going in Sept

Did you just go to open days, or did you also visit during school hours?
Went during School hours, just rang and made appt

Have you made your final choice?
Had to have final choice list in by Dec 15th here.

Is dd starting in sept?
Yes

Does she have to be toilet trained before starting?
Yes

Frizbe · 01/01/2008 23:12

for the small boy, all ours are currently asleep, but that doesn't mean anything

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 23:18

Frizbe- my qs were actually to csws, as I'm looking at independent schools too... sorry. Your answers were useful though- did dd2 behave while you went round? (didn't you think the toileting q was odd?)

Can't believe he's still up.... does he eat tons when he doesn't sleep much? (I mean the next day) More to the point, does he sleep in the next morning?
