Thought it was about time we had a thread which didn't take hours to load though....

Well caught up with Wills on the other thread and feel so very bad for her. Sending you all my love Wills.

I guess everyone is feeling quite low judging by the lack of postings here but we can't let the thread sink. So just thought I'd tell everyone that DD2 has just got her first pair of wellies. They are a size 4 and her shoes are size 1 so she has to waddle and I put lots of socks on her. but she absolutely loves them. So this morning we are going to go and find some puddles (not that difficult round here at the mo but they have to be shallow enough

I'm not trying to be frivolous but I think we all need a bit of a smile. Hugs all round

glad you told your dh kms!! And also that you are getting used to the idea.

Wills · 04/12/2004 11:38

Gosh I have been missing things, apologies. Things have been a little hectic with dd2's measles and all! She is very much on the mend although still covered in spots. Now dh has gone down with a nasty cold - honestly I'm starting to feel that this household is a magnet to all bugs at the moment.

KMS - hows it going? Like champs most of me wishes to say a big enormous congratulations - I'm extremely chuffed for you. Good luck.

Katherine - hows the floor laying going? My dh has asked as a special favour that just for once that I take it easy this year. Makes sense given that his treatment will leave him feeling ill most of christmas.

MariNativityPlay · 04/12/2004 23:51

Oh KMS, mine was a false alarm - am amazed at how wistful I am feeling about it now. So glad your dh is in the know now and has been OK about it.
Keep us posted on the flooring situation Katherine, I still think you're an inspiration rather than a loon - I bet it will be lovely when it's done.
Wills, doasyourdhsays! How often do we see that on Mumsnet these days. So glad dd2 has weathered the measles well, dd has had a stinky cold for what seems like forever and I have been watching her like a hawk for signs of spots - want to hold out until she is at least 18 months. But she is in nursery in a part of London where many parents are not having MMR or sepvax done AT ALL...hope your dh feels better soon and that this doesn't delay his treatment either.
Champs, tortoiseshell, how are you two doing?
We are off to Christingle tomorrow and since the introduction of Twiglett's pasta jar method this morning, ds has been so unnaturally good it's like having a changeling. I'm sure he'll soon get tired of his new Little Lord Fauntleroy persona ("may I read dsis a poem, mummy", FGS )

KMSanta · 05/12/2004 14:22

DH actally said he was excited about it last night!! I am so relived.

Wills do take it easy please. You have fitted so much into this year that you have to have a break next year.

Katherine hope the floor hasn't sprung any more suprises, and is coming along well.

hope everyone else is well.

champs · 05/12/2004 22:53

hi all!!
wills---- it does seem like that at times doesn't it, no sooner does one get over some sort of bug, someone else gets something or other.
Do take it easy. Hopefully the treatment doesnt make dh feel too icky and you all get to have a lovely Christmas.

Marina--- Hello!! I am doing ok thanks. How are you and fam? what/where/or who is Christingle!!

KMS--- OH wonderful so glad it's all working out, so now I can let it out!! CONGRATULATIONS!!GrinWink

KMSanta · 05/12/2004 23:57

Thankyou! Grin

Wills · 06/12/2004 16:44

I completely lost this thread. Couldn't find it anywhere - big panic!

First day back at work and.... I'm bored. Being bored gives me too much time to think. Don't really want to think.

Love the christmassy names everyone. Hmm project for tomorrow will be thinking of one for me.

Wills · 06/12/2004 16:45

Oh - in the post natal clubs. God - nearly had heart failure!

tortoiseshell · 06/12/2004 17:45

You too Wills? I couldn't find it at all earlier. Had to go via a link from August Babies 2.

KMS - big congratulations! Hope you're feeling ok about things. Wills - is your little one better now? I've been away for a few days and have really lost touch with everything. We're all fine here. Can't think of a Christmas name either Wills! Anyway, not much to say really, just love to everyone. xxx

Wills · 06/12/2004 21:44

I used Katherine's link too. Glad someone else had the same trouble, don't feel so foolish now. dd2's much better but has a really bad hacking cough that is really really upsetting to lie in bed and listen to. I'm an asthmatic and to hear her wheezing and struggling for breathe is amazingly frightening.

KMSanta · 06/12/2004 22:39

I couln't find us either! But now I know where we are it is much easier!

champs · 06/12/2004 23:27

omgosh!! thought it was just me, I couldn't find it the last post and just now. I used the thread 2 post aswell!!

KMSanta · 13/12/2004 18:08

How is evryone??

Just thought I would let you know I have now got an EDD of aug 7th.
It feels so strange being due aug again!Grin

Everyone is ill in this house at the moment! DH has bad cold (or should I say man flu!!) DD has chest infection, DS2 has just finished anti b's for chest and throat only to be sent home from school today with an ear infection! More anti b's. I feel soo sick! so only DS1 is well at the moment!

Katherine how is the floor coming on?

MariNativityPlay · 14/12/2004 10:20

Oh hello, here you all are!
Do you think we hold the record for the longest running active post-natal club, ladies?
Champs, how are things, hon? I've been thinking of you a lot.
Oh KMS, another August baby...deep down I'm massively envious of you, and very pleased everything's starting to settle down now.
Wills, I'll see you Saturday at the party - you need to post on the main thread to find out from Ilana what you could bring. Really looking forward to seeing you and meeting dds - although we may leave dd at home if it's not going to be easy for crawlers. Ds will be in attendance though.
Champs, Christingle is a church service at which the work of the Children's Society is highlighted - it's a Church of England charity that used to run children's homes but these days concentrates on helping vulnerable children and young people in other ways...drop-in centres, funded youth workers, fostering, etc. It reminds us that it's not a jolly time for everyone under 16, but in a constructive way. And it raises money for their work too.
Hope everyone is well. I have finally shaken off an impressive array of bugs and microbes and feeling better than I have for a fortnight.

champs · 17/12/2004 23:51

KMS!! oooo another august baby!! you have made me all clucky, which is odd 'cause ds2 is still a baby
Marina... thanks for the explanation sounds really good.

KMSanta · 23/12/2004 23:23

Happy Christmas to you all.

All our August babes will be much more aware of things this Chrismas, I am almost as excited as the kids!

Have a good one.

Wills · 27/12/2004 21:29

I've just come back from the most fantastic Christmas ever. I@m really not a Disney fan at all but that was fabulous. Possibly because I'll happily suspend reality at Christmas and will throw myself into the swing of things. Although my "d"m still managed to phone and upset me most days (and starting to feel harrased) I seemed to be able to shrug it off reasonably quickly and get on with enjoying myself. My kids and my dh also had a fab fab fab time. Really wowed - actually felt contented from time to time and at peace and its such a wonderful feeling. The girls are off to my "d"m tomorrow and no doubt I will get it in the neck, on Wednesday dh goes for his second round of treatment and they say that the side effects will start to kick in after treatment number 2 so life will have to be picked up - but it was wondeful and full of memories to help us both throw. Best load of money ever spent!

Hope everyone else had a fab Xmas - love to all.

KMSanta · 29/12/2004 23:07

Hope everyone had a great christmas and is all set for an even better new year!

Wills - so pleased that you and yours had such a great time away. Glad you were able to relax a little, even with the rude interuptions from your DM!
Hope all went ok with your DH's treatment today and that the side affects aren't too extream.

Happy New year to you all.

champs · 31/12/2004 14:32

oh wills that is brilliant!! sounds just what you all needed. @ "d"m.

KMSanta---- I think it is a mumsnet baby boom!! I had a positive test too

Wills · 31/12/2004 18:11

Oh Champs, hope its good news to you, but regardless many many many congratulations! How are you doing honey. My dm is phoning every single day and its starting to really get me down but I get back up! How are you?

Happy New year to everyone! Fingers crossed for a better one! (For Champs and I at least).

champs · 01/01/2005 16:42

ty wills!! I may sound harsh but do you have to answer the phone to her? It just really angers me the way she is, God only knows how it makes you feel.
I am glad you can bounce back tho, Have you made any decision about moving by the sea?

Happy New Year to all!!

MariNativityPlay · 03/01/2005 20:40

Champs! many congratulations and just a tinge of ! I'm SO happy for you. It's going to be a very special year for you and KMS.
Glad you had such a super time at Disneyland Paree Wills and hope the girls survived your "d"m unscathed. Fingers crossed for the best transit through your dh's second round of treatment, will be thinking of you.
We actually had a bit of a dud Christmas, dh was quite poorly with "male gastroenteritis" (you'd have thought it was cholera). But dd WALKED down the hall like a pro on Christmas Day, on her way to kiss her main present, a pushalong labrador called Franz Ferdinand. So that was really wonderful. We have just returned from a family ear-bashing at my parents (ds is cheeky/surly, we don't discipline him enough, YOU were never like that at his age, bla bla. Came awfully close to saying that was because I was sh*t-scared of my mother's vile temper, a parenting technique I don't plan to replicate, but chose to nearly sever own tongue instead).
Happy New Year, all. May 2005 bring lots of happiness to all Mumsnetters and especially the August 2003 mob

KMSanta · 03/01/2005 23:40

Happy new Year to you all

Champs!!! Congrats!
Are you also due in Aug? There is quite a large thread going in the ante-natal bit. 26 so far. Must have been a very cold nov!!

Katherine · 04/01/2005 12:19

Hello everyone. A belated merry christmas and happy new year. First time I've switched on my PC for WEEKS!!!!!!!!!

We had to move out in the end due to the house being subzero without water, cooking or heating. DH insisted on laying a screed on top of the concrete floor (fortunatly went off the idea of digging it out) but bogdged it a bit so it looked like the penines! Anyway we then had to leave it for a week to set even though it was C**p so we decided to clear out the loft and put the boards down in there. All went well except that our bedroom was full to the ceiling of junk. Eventually got all that cleared but still couldn't progress with the floor so decided to decorate the kids rooms for christmas. So followed 2 weeks of decorating with every single room in the house in chaos. We finally laid the first tiles the day before our neighbours came home. Obvious wouldn't be done in time so had to move into a holiday cottage. We worked every night with the baby monitor. My hands were in agony as all the skin cracked and split. Anyway finally it was done and I grouted it but too knackered to take all the grout off and thought the cleaner would sort it. But it didn't. So spent the next day frantically scrubbing. In the end I discovered that limescale remover for the bathroom was more effective so used that. We moved back home on the Tuesday before Christmas. The kids slept on the floor in our bedroom while we finished their rooms as they didn't want to go in until christmas morning. Finally finished 4pm on christmas eve.

However we had the best christmas ever. Our lounge looks fab (if a bit grouty!). The kids love their rooms, the rest of the house is still a bit mad but we are getting there. We have a huge sense of achievemnt and its really brought me and DH close again (although the day he ripped some of my tiles up I nearly shed blood!)

We spent christmas at home as a family for once and brought my mum over for the afternoon. Boxing day was spent with DHs family and then we had a few days of parties with our neighbours to celebrate the floor and a fab joint new years party. Feel totally worn out now but very happy.

I hope you all had a lovely time too. Wills so glad the disney worked well for you. Lovely news about more August Babies.

Cyber hugs all round

Hi everyone! First, congratulations about the new babies - very exciting! Glad you all had good Christmases. Ours was lovely if a bit manic, driving all over the country. Anyway, just checking in really! Love to all, xxx
