Thought it was about time we had a thread which didn't take hours to load though....

Well caught up with Wills on the other thread and feel so very bad for her. Sending you all my love Wills.

I guess everyone is feeling quite low judging by the lack of postings here but we can't let the thread sink. So just thought I'd tell everyone that DD2 has just got her first pair of wellies. They are a size 4 and her shoes are size 1 so she has to waddle and I put lots of socks on her. but she absolutely loves them. So this morning we are going to go and find some puddles (not that difficult round here at the mo but they have to be shallow enough

I'm not trying to be frivolous but I think we all need a bit of a smile. Hugs all round

Oh you poor things, yuk. Really hope the fine weather continues over Easter and helps you banish the germs, Tortoiseshell

mmmmchocolate · 21/03/2005 14:38

Hi, can i be rude and invite myself to join this thread???

I have a dd born 25th August, she is my first, i am 27 and a stay at home mummy. She is sitting up and desperatly trying to crawl but just goes round in circles not forward or backwards, bless her. She has 2 teeth. I am struggeling to find things to do with her apart from swimming. any ideas welcome.

Hope speak soon xx

Marina · 21/03/2005 14:45

Awww, mmmchocolate you are welcome, but I feel honour-bound to tip you off that our lot are nearly two - we have been very slack about keeping 2003 in the title of the thread!
This is where those 2004 tinies are hanging out...August 2004 babies

KMS · 21/03/2005 22:44

Hello all. how is everyone?

Katherine-LOL at your NNE! what a nightmare, difficult to know where to start! hope the runny noses are feeling better. How did the party go? My DS1 was invited to a pirate party (7yrs) this weekend but sadly had to be cancelled as the boy was taken into hospital the day before with pneumonia! Is home now and pary reschedualed.

Tortioseshell-hope you are all felling better. I went deaf with an ear infection recenty doc was also very dismissive. said it may burst, which I wish it had as the pressure was awful. hope it is on the mend.

Katherine · 22/03/2005 15:50

Hi all.
tortoiseshell, DH suffers a lot with ear probelms so I sympathise. At the mo he's completely deaf after a flight. No pain but can't hear a thing. Its very frustrating all round. We've even got subtitles on the TV now which is really disconcerting as you know what they are going to say before they speak! Hope you are better soon.

Party went really well although felt like chaos. Arrived at the hall at 2.50 for the party at 3pm! Not much time to get ready. However huge success and was really chuffed with the cake. Plank worked well although the supports collasped half way through when BIL decided to have a go, but the kids had fun rebuilding it. Spent ages making parchment for the map and the messages in the bottle using lining paper smeared with black coffee and a few sprinkes of cocoa then burned the edges and made holes with a candle flame. Looked really good. Also played pass the hook - last person in won the hook. Very worn out afterwards so spent the evening watching gooines with the kids.

Had a lovely sunday at Chatsworth, walking the the gardens (DD2 walked all the way) and then the afternoon in the park. Put our names down for 2 more pigs later in the summer. Thinking about getting a lamb as well - no more mowing the grass!

Oh well Beavers tonight so better get tea going. Isn't it lovely to feel like its spring again

Katherine - that sounds like a fantastic party. Tortoise-shell - how are you feeling?

Can I grab some opinions? Have started a thread on this but know that I will get responses from people with a child the same age.... Potty training. With dd1 she wasn't interested at all so wasn't training until 2 years 9 months and it was a bit of a battle. So I'd decided that I would go with the flow so to speak and train dd2 when she was ready. Wasn't expecting that until at least next year. So have been caught by complete surprise that dd2 is showing distinct signs of wanting to be dry. She can't stand a wet nappy. She's desperate to sit on the potty and will try to declothe herself so she can sit on it but unfortunately by the time we manage it she's normally gone in her nappy. I've been told that if you "miss the boat" then its really hard later on. I feel that if she's ready then no matter that I've just bought 4 bumper packs of nappies!!!!! I need to get on and go with her on this but how? Not sure how do this with one so young. With dd1 at least you can have far more of a conversation and understanding etc. Have any of you started potty training yet? If so what are you doing? If not ... how would you go about it if say they started showing signs tomorrow etc.

KMS · 31/03/2005 21:58

wills, I would give her lots of nappy off time (if you can bear it!) at home with potty nearby and let her use it if she wants to. Don't do a big push just let her lead. If clothes are needed, don't use vests with poppers and maybe try nappies that can be pulled off quickly with a skirt or dress. My ds2 did it at about 22mths and was dry day and night in 3 days! He was keen to use the toilet like his brother and didn't like sitting on a potty. Teaching the word wee wee was a must! we then had to drop everything and run, for a couple of days
Good luck, hope it works but as you say don't put on the pressure and go with the flow!

Wills · 04/04/2005 11:10

Hi KMS. We started this weekend and were doing incredibly well i.e. we had a hit Sunday morning .... until the dirrohea started! We have now paused for 24 hours.

Katherine · 05/04/2005 14:15

Hi everyone, just come back from a lovely holiday in Staithes near whitby. Spent the entire week collecting fossils. REally recommend it as a place for a holiday. Its a beautiful village with a harbour at the bottom with a bit of sand, rock pools and loads of fossils. There are a few lovely shops, virtually no cars and most of the streets are alleyways up and down steps which the kids loved.

Anyway Wills DD1 was trianed by 18mths. I was horrified. I think it was because she was so close in age to DS (19mths) - so she watched him go through the whole process. It was only a couple of months later that she wanted too herself. I thought it would be prolonged with her being so young but she never ever had an accident and a week later was dry at night too. I'd just go with your instincts. Time will tell. You can't do much wrong. DD2 hasn't shown that much interest yet although we did have one hit after she got the potty out. But then she's never seen anyone sitting on a potty! Also her bum is so tiny it doesn't fit properly and she looks uncomfy. Think I need a padded potty! Good luck anyway. You should have learned by now that buying so many nappies is bound to set them off.

Hows it going Wills?
DD has been telling me she has done a poo for a while now. She has also pood in the bath a few times (DS2 has never got out so quick!) so last night when she announced "poo" in the bath I grabbed her out and sat her on the loo.
She farted!! then spent the rest of the bath saying "poo" and being put on the loo every 2 mins. she though it was great fun. we didn't get a success though. will all baths be like this now??

Can't belive my DS1 will be 7 tomorrow! DS2 was 5 last week. They are growing up so fast. we will all have 2 yr olds before long Scary isn't it.

Wills · 13/04/2005 12:49

Hi guys. Haven't had a lot of co-operation from the Nanny who hates such things and so its flopped at the moment. Oh well. Hows everyone?

tortoiseshell · 19/04/2005 10:49

Hi everyone - hope everyone has had a good easter. Have you given up on potty training Wills? How is everything else? How's your dh doing?

Whitby's lovely isn't it Katherine - I grew up in the north east, so we often used to have Sunday afternoon trips there. Must take ds and dd now you've reminded me of it!

Champs and KMS - how are you both doing in your pregnancies? Hope all is well. Hello Marina as well!

We're all ok here, though I feel like we have been a plague house - following on from dd having a hacking cough/chest infection for 3 months (I've been keeping a diary and it really was that long!), my ear problems (which have just about sorted out now - just occasional deafness - ds came down with chickenpox in the holidays, and dd is now very spotty too! BUT I'm glad to have got it over with, only have to do it once!

I'm not moaning, but it does seem like one thing after another. Still - summer is on it's way! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!
xxx

Marina · 19/04/2005 11:01

Hello all! We had a lovely Easter thanks and hope everyone did too. Must revisit N Yorkshire with the children, had a lovely holiday near Pickering when I was a teenager (ahem, some years ago now) and loved the area.
Wills, don't be disheartened about the potty-training. Sorry about the nanny apathy though! Dd tells us she has done a poo and also when she has weed. She will also say, bye bye poo when we flush the nappy contents away. But trying to get her to sit on the potty...no way.
Dd now sleeps through! And is down to night and morning feeds only. I am feeling much less zonked and it is wonderful.
How are you doing champs and KMS?
I saw Wills at the city lunch last week and despite protests to the contrary she was looking fabulous
We really ought to try and get together in somewhere central like Birmingham this summer, what do you all think?

tortoiseshell · 19/04/2005 11:43

Yay to meeting up with everyone! Birmingham sounds good.

tortoiseshell · 19/04/2005 11:44

Or I could recommend Bristol....!

Marina · 19/04/2005 12:27

But that would mean we would all be festering with resentment that one of our number had only a mini-journey

tortoiseshell · 19/04/2005 12:28

Oh no, you noticed! And there was me thinking I was being so sneaky!

KMS · 19/04/2005 21:33

Hello all,
Baby is fine but my pelvis is not. Have now been on crutches for a week and no improvement. very depressing at 24 wks! I was 38 wks when I needed crutches with last pg so only had 3 wks on them (as DD was 10days late!) Physio has threatened bed rest! How do I manage that with 3 children?? Have also been prescribed co-codamol for the pain but i am not compleatly sure it is safe during pg? A friend had it when pg but only for a week to lower her very high temp. I would be taking it for the next 16 wks (plus, if I go over due again) I am looking into other options before I take them.

Sorry about the moan.
hope you are all well.
Hope your DD isn't too unwell with Cpox tortoiceshell. My DS1 had it the week after DS2 but DS1 got it really bad. Poor thing had spots up his nose, down his throat and his body was so covered that you couldn't put a finger between his spots. DD hasn't had it yet so I hope she waits and has it when baby is old enough to coap with it.
Marina-pleased for you that DD is sleeping through. congrats on the feeding. I do miss it now as I stopped feeding DD about 8wks ago as it was getting painful with tender pg boobs! She still asks occasionally! which makes me feel really guilty. I had hoped she would forget all about it! I hope she does by the time the baby comes.

A meet-up in the summer could be a problem as baby is due 7th aug, and I feel I may be a bit less mobile until this baby comes. All of mine have been late so that probably takes me into sept, at least, before I can go anywhere.
South Bucks would be a much better area to meet!!

champs · 20/04/2005 23:47

Hi all!!
long time no see!!
I keep forgetting to check back and I only remebered this time cos I decided to name check.

Marina and Tortoiseshell -- Bump is doing well, kicking and moving around alot. Placenta has moved..yipee!! legs were crossed at scan so dont know what gender babe is!!

kms --- ds1 also turned 7 this year and I am still in shock. it seems only the other day that he was the age that ds2 is now
so sorry you are feeling so much pain. have no idea about medication and pg, have you looked it up on net?

Tortoiseshell -- hope you RE DOING BETTER IN THE tortoishell household (soz caps!!)

Marina -- so pleased you all had a good time. I like KMS, will have to give the meetup a miss I'm afraid as I too am due in august.

wills -- silly nanny!! how's PT going now? ds1 didn't like potty at all and we had only a few hits but he really did well when we tried him on big toilet. He wanted to use it cos daddy did. we got him a little boy wee thingy that he weed into, and used the top of the potty on the toilet for poohs. he was a little scared of toilet for a while and thought he'd get flushed..bless him.

KMS · 24/04/2005 12:01

Champs good to see you. Not seen you on the ante-natal thread either for a while. Great news the placenta has moved.
My SIL (due 2 wks after me!) has placenta privia and has just has a stay in hosp due to bleeding. very worrying and feel she will be in and out until they CS her @ 38wks.
My poor MIL doesn't know who to help first!!

champs · 28/04/2005 23:15

Hi KMS!! how lovely to see you how horrible for your sil love to her...
I keep saying I will post in ante-natal thread but didn't want to be unsensitive to the poor ones who lost their babies. Is there a new thread for august now?

KMS · 29/04/2005 22:02

Yes Champs a very long thread. We have all been exchanging 20wk scan details. Some revealing the sex. (I didn't ask at mine as I like a suprise!)
Hope yours went well. Did you want to know the sex, or didn't it matter really?

champs · 29/04/2005 23:05

Hiya, I wanted to know but Dh didn't, in the end baby had legs crossed so will have to wait!!

KMS · 13/05/2005 23:23
