Hi uki, my lo sleeps with mittens on sometimes, if it's cold. He's circulation isn't that brilliant yet, and he definately sleeps better if his hands are warm . Hope your days get better.

Gill, losing 17lbs is fantastic! Now my health is better I am able to exercise now, so I hope to lose some weight too.

Mywee, when ds1 was little he had gorgeous long curls (for some reason he wanted them off when he got older ). They used to get terribly tangled in the mornings. I used a plant spray bottle, with a very generous blob of hair conditioner in it mixed with water. Then sprayed before combing/brushing in the morning. He would have been older than 6mth though, so not sure if it would work for you.

Lizzie, can relate to your pmt. Part of the reason I'm still bfing is because I want to hold off my periods for as long as possible. Anything to put off pmt. I had a coil for a few years and that seemed to make it more tolerable.

tasha, I'm going to drag myself to go to the local mum & babies/toddlers group. Kicking and screaming. I may go tomorrow. I've got a scan tomorrow, but if I'm out in time I'll try to go. Your lo doesn't look out of proportion to me. All 3 of mine have been diddy as babies, the older 2 are now amongst the tallest of their peers. They both grew lots at 2.5yrs. Hopefully ds3 will too. I've no idea at all what he weighs, maybe I should take him just to see.

Hello everyone else! Off out soon for a dentist check-up. I hate the dentist! (Well, the dentist is actually ok, but ykwim)!

GillL · 05/02/2008 15:25

Thanks kinki.

Hope my dd has a growth spurt. She's smaller than all the kids we know her age by at least a couple of inches. I'd hate for her to be as short as me in adulthood. Dh is 6'7" so she should get taller. Ds seems to be following in dh's footsteps.

Hope it goes well at the dentist.

tasha22 · 05/02/2008 15:35

kinks i need to make a dental appointment too, woke up thismorn with tooth ach but just too scared ive been putting off root canal treatment using pregnancies as excuses!
i really want to go to mums and tods but also wats bothering me is you have to leave the buggy in a seperate building and i dont know how i will get them all from one building to another...
oh dear uki i hope you have a better week next week.

tasha22 · 05/02/2008 16:06

james are you about i need your help, ds2 has turned my computer upside down and i cant fix it, im seeing everything upside down?

tasha22 · 05/02/2008 16:44

im ok now magaged to get it fixed dads taking me to paris for the day on 1st of march and ill be in london for 2 days scared of leaving the kids...am i bad selfish mummy?

lizziemun · 05/02/2008 17:14

myweegirl, can't help with the hair then as lexie has very curly hair (looks like she put her fingers in a electric socket) but no hair at the back where she keeps rubbing off her hair when she asleep.

Gill well done for losing 17lb's. I have just got to find the monivations to get started.

UKI sorry you are having a bad time at the moment.

Gill I hate being short as well i am the same height now (5ft 1in) as i was when i was 11yrs.

Lizzie already comes upto my elbow at 4yrs and has legs upto her armpits , I think Lexie has a lowslung bum like me.

tasha22 · 05/02/2008 17:39

thought that looked like loads of fun gonna see if there is one near me! ive posted looooaaaaads today forgot to say gill congrats on the wieght loss thats allot

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 06/02/2008 00:29

Hello folks! Been AWOL today, combination of a busy day and connection problems. Tasha sorry I wasn't around to help with your upside down problem chuck, glad you're sorted now. To make clickable links, paste the address surrounded by and Here's your link from below: Back to fitness the Buggyfit way!

Went to mums n babies today terribly late as I slept in and then had a million things to organise before we left (why do they always do an enormous crap/tidal wave of sick reliabley everytime you're late?) No-one spoke to me. I tried to strike up a conversation with an old lady who had brought her 8 month old grandson but she was profoundly deaf and by the time I'd established her grandsons name and age, it was time to go.

We had a wander round town then I took James swimming. Snuck in, (in the shadows ninja style) and dived into the babypool before anyone saw my cellulite. Typical that there were several impossibly slim young mediterranean looking fellas lounging in the shallow end of the adult pool who looked over in unison like a group of studly olive skinned meerkats, scanning for totty and finding a swamp beast instead. gah...

James seemed to enjoy it, splashed about a bit, although he got tired quickly and we only stayed in the water about 20 min. It was fun but a bit of a palaver for the amount of time we actually had in the water.

Really enjoying doing blw now, today we had the obligatory pancakes, ours with sugar and lemon, james had his spread with philedelphia and finely chopped steamed broccoli, then rolled up into little sausages for him to hold. He really loved them (so did I! dp asked if I was pregnant because he tried them and pronounced them to be utterly foul) and spent ages sucking out the filling.

I've scanned through the thread but too tired to read in depth, hope you're all ok, sorry to hear about the pmt and uki's terrible day/week, have a hug from me!

Not feeling very well tonight, I have a tummy ache, bit of a heavy cold coming on, and I feel a bit shivery and achy all over. Going to crawl into bed and sleep it off, night all x

GillL · 06/02/2008 14:02

Hope you're feeling better today James. We're taking ds swimming for the first time next week. The pool I normally go to has a small shallow teaching pool but every time I go, I check it's open beforehand, and when I get there it's always closed. It's not that good anyway. The only bit shallow enough for me to sit or kneel on is the steps. We're trying a different one this time which should be much better. My sister said there's a dedicated kiddies pool which is very shallow and has a little elephant slide that dd can go on. Dh doesn't really like swimming and hasn't got any trunks so he's going to sit in the cafe which is right by the pool. He can take ds and wrap him in a towel when we're done or if he gets fed up early.

Thanks lizziemun and tasha. I didn't realise how much I'd lost until I thought about it. I guess it's cos it's been very gradual. I'm counting since ds was born, so I guess a couple of weeks of bf and being busy at home with 2 dcs contributed at first.

lizziemun - I'm 5ft 2in. I think I stopped growing when I was 13 or 14. My younger sister is 3 years younger and she was taller than me by the time she started secondary school. People used to think I was the youngest. One time at school, when I was 16, I was asked if I was in the first year. I was sooo annoyed. Adults used to tell me that I'd love it when I'm older. They were so right - most people guess my age wrong - normally 5 years younger than I am

Hope everyone's having a nice day. It seems to be complaint day at work today so I'll be glad to get out of here (as I am every day). At least it's stopped raining.

shrinkingsagpuss · 07/02/2008 11:00

Gill - i am so sorry - have only just been able to read the thread - I thought the proposed mee up was NEXT tuesdaY??

Can't get on for long, too much going on, will post some pictures of before and after the building is done, but needless to say it is chaos!!

I can do next tuesday.... if its any help????

Hi All

thanks for reading my moan, and the sympathy it was all not that bad in perspective, but I was a bit stressed. The cat went to the vets today and was desexed, this cat has adopted us, but goes off wandering alot too, and it is starting to look a bit feral now and bringing home dieseas, although not really as it turns out it doesn't have ring worm. oh well the cat better behave now, i just spent money on it.

JB- LOL at your description of the Mediterranean meercats, that was too funny, your quite the poet!
Wow your playgroup, didn't sound as friendly as it could be. I always introduce myself to the new ladies/men we have a really good vibe at ours. It has become a lot better than it used to be. Due to different/ fresh blood. Is there another one in the area you could try if this one is dud, not saying it is though, you have to at least go for a month before deciding.

I have lost all my baby weight too, I would like to be a tiny bit smaller but i think this is what my body is happy being. I've pretty much been the same weight consistently since 18, so figure not to mess too much. many of my friends really yo yo, and i'd rather not do that.

LL is really into the solids now, no need to coax him to eat, he grabs everything right off you.

My2Weegirls · 07/02/2008 12:33

just popped on to say hello - it's been very quiet the past couple of days? james i take it you are still ill . hope you are feeling better soon.

uki - well done on loosing the weight!

off out whilst it's sunny and dry , in scotland, who eould ever believe it!

GillL · 07/02/2008 12:38

Sorry for the confusion sagpuss. I did mean next Tuesday (12th Feb). That's great that you can come! Shall we say 10am in Bluewater at the front of M&S (indoors) downstairs. Can't guarantee I'll be there dead on 10 but I'll get there as soon as I can. Ds will need his breakfast around that time so I'll have get there asap after dropping off dd at pre-school.

Pink, kinki - are you able to make it?

Hi Uki. One of our cats goes wandering for a few days every few weeks. We have no idea where she goes but she's always starving when she gets back. Perhaps we should fit a video camera to her collar We've had her since she was 6 weeks old and she's never been stray so I've no idea why she does this.

I lost my baby weight in a few weeks with ds. I made an effort to eat more healthily this time. I'm currently working on losing the weight I put on when pg with dd. I think it was about 4 stone, although I was about a stone under my ideal weight so I don't have as much to lose.

Hope everyone's having a good day so far.

James - hope you're ok and haven't come down with that awful bug.

GillL · 07/02/2008 12:39

Hi My2weegirls. Our posts crossed. It's nice and sunny here too. Hope you have a nice walk.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 07/02/2008 12:48

Aaw, poor puss, they are better afterwards though. Our cat Ringo lives with my brother as we aren't allowed pets, he took him to get neutered recently but the vet couldn't find his plums! lol

Glad you're feeling a bit less stressed, I was having one those days yesterday, felt like everything in the house is breaking (sofa, hoover, wireless internet box, freeview box and dish drainer, in the last fortnight or so) DP took the broken stuff to the dump, along with other bits I cleared out so things are slowly improving, so nice to declutter, brings lovely new energy into the house.

Had good news yesterday: I do have the job! No more details than that yet as I need to have a chat with the boss but it's a weight off my mind, I can tell you!

Well, off to make some lunch for the boy, he's having lentil bake with cheesey toast to dip in it (massively messy) and a red plum which will probably end up stuck face down to the back of his head like yesterdays.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 07/02/2008 12:55

ooh x posts, hey, have a nice meetup you guys!

Not ill now, I think it was just bad sinus as I've had a bit of an ongoing cold for a couple of weeks now. Just was feeling a bit sorry for myself yesterday so didn't want to moan on here for once (started a different thread instead! lol)

Enjoy the sunshine everyone, bit grey here. James s being a right grumpypants today, not sure what's up with him, keeps crying despite toys/company/food etc

Pinkranger · 07/02/2008 13:25

tasha22 · 07/02/2008 14:12

james im giving you a run for your money with the smiles

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 07/02/2008 14:38

Bit fed up, James is getting really clingy, he cries now when I leave the room. I'm getting less done around the house than ever before, it's almost as bad as when he was a newborn. Yesterday I tried putting him in a slng but he's just so heavy my back just couldn't take it, plus he hated it.

I don't know what to do, I haven't even had a coffee yet today or brushed my hair, just keep running off to get his food/bottle, he starts crying and I'm dropping things and burning myself as it makes me panicky.

He's only having ten minute naps and it's a real pain in the arse, I have just enough time for a wee and to collect the things from the last meal together and he's awake and grizzling again. I could cry.

I never get a break from him, EVER. I haven't even had a bath in about two weeks because I have so much to do when he's asleep, I just keep having three minute showers, no time to condition or even to dry my hair, I just tie it up, no wonder I look like shit.

How come I'm coping less now than in the beginning?

tasha22 · 07/02/2008 15:14

big hugs james, all babies go through this its seperation anxiety. put him in the livingroom and stand at the door hide and then jump out and say boo keep doing this for a while each time making it a little longer before he sees you its very hard when they get like this but it doesnt last i promise. when dp gets home from work go and run yourself a bath and enjoy it! the boo thing really works. xx

tasha22 · 07/02/2008 15:32

when i was doing the boo thin i used to run put the kettle on run back shout boo run back to kitchen make cuppa run back shout boo and so on, even if he crys do it. he will get the gist of it quickly. the boo thing teaches them that you may go away for a little while but you will alway come back

My2Weegirls · 07/02/2008 16:25

hiya - james, think my dd2 is starting this phase too. tasha is right it sounds a bit like separation anxiety. you could start slowly playing peek a boo in front of him - covering your eyes and then building up to leaving the room. or if you are leaving the room have a special toy for him to play with.

does he sleep well in the buggy/pram if you are out walking? i used to walk for (what felt like hours) with dd1 so that she would sleep then when i came back she would generally sleep for another 30min or so, i could then pee, brush teeth, get stuff done for her, eat, brush teeth etc.

do you have a high chair - if you need to do things in the kithchen plonk him in there and sing and dance.

or to have a bath is there room for his playmat that you could plonk him down in the bathroom.

anyway big hugs!

of the meet-up! look forward to the pictures

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 07/02/2008 20:54

Hi I'm typing with my left hand so this could take a while, James is fast asleep on my chest, first time he's ever fell asleep like that but he wouldn't fall asleep in his pushchair, kept crying so I got him out and cuddled him to cheer him up and he fell right asleep! He hasn't been himself all day, hope he isn't coming down with anything.

Ugh too hot, hold on, putting him down.

It's been a trying day, I agree that it's probably seperation anxiety, although the textbooks say that kicks in about 7 months I guess they're all different. He often doesn't sleep in the pushchair as it's all too exciting. He sleeps on the way back from places sometimes but as soon as we get in he wakes up. He hates his highchair so far, he cries in it everytime.

I decided I was GOING to have my bath and my coffee earlier by hook or by crook, so I tucked him in his swing chair in the bathroom, with blanket and dummy (ever the optimist, me) and a few toys, and I lay in the bath drinking my brew lol. When he got grumpy I got the bubble mix out and blew some bubbles for him, and sang some songs. I can't say it was the most relaxing bath ever but at least I'm no longer sporting a months worth of hair growth on my legs.

I will try the boo idea, we do play peepo. he thinks it's hilarious but if I hide my face for more than a second he looks around for me, so obviously doesn't get it yet, poor little lad. Wish he was easier to carry about, a sling would be a good solution otherwise.

Ohhhh I have to show you all these beautiful little kittens! I am sooooooo tempted to adopt them if they're still available, don't they look like tiny little lions?
