Oh no, Elkie, that was my dreadful night, being up for 2 hours
I do winge don't I? Thanks for all being nice to me
We did Pinions's suggestion of lots of food, late bath, so can recommend them!
Well it's looking more & more likely that we are moving next Thursday or Friday, so might have to leave world peace and the common cold and pack/organise!

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2007 10:38

meant to say hope the psychic link is working now my baby is sleeping a bit better
(It's only been one night...don't get too excited!)

CaptainDippy · 23/11/2007 11:01

Elkie, sorry you had a pants night. Hope you enjoyed the swimming.

Lovely to see POTC, Ange and Bramshott today and to meet Skott and Matthew.

IDOC, hope you and yours are feeling better soon.

CD/Pesha, we missed you both.

Hope everyone else is ok. xx

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2007 16:44

glad the meet up went well
he still refuses to have a daytime sleep, just left him grouching in his cot as he was looking tired, started crying so I went in & he was sitting up and smiling at me
has started pulling himself up too so we'll need to lower his cot, what a pain

Eddas · 23/11/2007 17:14

spb, i don't know if this'll help but ds sometimes doesn't seem to want a nap. However I came to realise that even if he didn't show any signs of tiredness he does need a sleep after 3.5-4 hours. If he doesn't sleep after this time he gets overtired and won't sleep. So now I just put him in his cot and generally he does sleep, normally for 1-1.5 hours. I think if they get overtired it take them forever to get to sleep. I only worked this out once dd was going to preschool everyday and his day goes something like:

6.30 : get up
9.15 :take dd to preschool
9.35 : on way home from preschool, falls alseep. Carefully take him in, sometimes he wakes but put him straight in his cot and he stays asleep for a good hour most times.
11.45 : if not awake I have to wake him to go and get dd
3-3.30 : if he doesn't seem tired by then i'll put him in his got and i'd say 90% of the time he goes to sleep without any/much fuss

4.30 : if he'd not awake I wake him

6.30-7.30 : back to bed for the night

Not sure if that will help at all but thought it was worth typing

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2007 17:21

He is tired though, just same as through the night, fights being put in his cot. If I leave him the crying just gets worse and I come back to find him sitting up / on hands and knees.
He is asleep now, this seems to be becoming a pattern too, by the end of the day he's just too tired to fight any more.
Any ideas? I'm getting really worried about this.

CaptainDippy · 23/11/2007 17:27

Girls bitching and fighting and generally winding each other up so will be back later! Deary me ........

Eddas · 23/11/2007 17:28

oh don't get too worried, it's something that needs fiddling with til you find an answer right for him. The trouble with babies is they're all individual and it's us as parents who have to work out each one's little quirks

DS has to have soemthing over his face, just a little bit. Then he sleeps within minutes if not seconds. He has the primark fluffy blankets, he LOVES them, gets all excited when he gets his little mits on it he puts it over his face or I put it so he can roll over and it's touching and he's out like a light. If i've forgotten it a muslin will do and I ALWYAS carry them with me. Mind you at mil's he sometimes has a tea towel if I forget. DD didn't have anything.

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2007 17:30

I need a bed shaped like me, cuddling him
Do you think argos will do them?
Will have to really try to get hm to sleep tomorrow, DH will be here so it will be easier

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2007 17:30

Meant to say thank you [ungrateful]
CD, hope your girls are OK!

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 17:31

Oh SPB - that is tough. Does he have a musical mobile - I have always found the music very useful in settling all three of mine. Trouble is - as he's pulling up now that's not the best time to put a mobile on - they get pulled over! Maybe a musical box near by? The idea is that they associate the sounds of the mobile etc with bed and it acts as a sleep time cue.

Pretty good day here - took dd2 to the hospital for her appt about the congenital heart defect she has - three years since we were last seen. It went really well - all fine don't need to go back for 5 years. Whoooooooooo

Dh has had some good leads coming up so still feeling very positive and the girls bought their school photos home - lovely shots Very proud mummy!

Eddas · 23/11/2007 17:31

maybe!

CD, i have all that to look forward too

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 17:32

Eddas that's interesting - B quite often goes to sleep with her hand/arm over her face...

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2007 17:32

Yes, he does have a mobile that we need to take down good point about music though we have found that to be useful in settling him in the past.
Glad your DD's appointment went well and DH's job situation is looking hopeful.

Eddas · 23/11/2007 17:38

sounds like you had a great day NL Good idea about the music.

Bedtime routine's have always worked for us too. With dd I followed a similar routine for bedtime and naps. Bedtime was bath/story/kiss/cuddle/music/nightlight on/ walk out & shut door. Nap was the same minus the bath

CaptainDippy · 23/11/2007 18:29

Glad you had a good day NL - great that you are feeling more positive, esp concerning DH's job situ.

Meant to running bath .......

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 18:31

we're waiting for the bathroom to warm up a bit......

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 18:34

I'm jealous of these meet-ups as well - who have we got in the north? Would anyone like to meet up? I'm train destinations only but could do Leeds, York or Durham.....any one fancy a new year tea and cake with babies type thing?

CaptainDippy · 23/11/2007 18:53

There's plenty of Northerns on here, NL so you'll have no probs arranging a meet-up!

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 19:07

That's what I'm hoping - but they're all very quiet so far - probably booking flights south........

Can I just say I am quite excited about my plan for tomorrow - I'm going to take my bike (pedal not motor) out for a spin! Have nice route round all the lovely bits of town, by the river etc planned and will stop for chips (shush don't tell rest of family) also will go into town to get last little thing for dh's birthday - not going mad for obvious reasons but quite excited about last thing I have to get Oh yes - poor dh - not only is he losing his job before Christmas - but just before his birthday too Still at least he'll be at home with us for all of it

Sexonlegs · 23/11/2007 19:22

Hi all

CD, has the bickering stopped???

NL, great news about dd2. You must be relieved. You need to change your name to NorthernPoster seeing as you are not lurkig any more!!

Nutty is North isn't she, and Leaky R? Leaky hasn't been on in ages.

SPB, really hope you crack the sleep issue soon.

K likes to have something against her face - she also has a Primark blanket at nap times which she loves. At night time as she is in a grobag, I have given her a flannel to snuggle up with. Don't laugh, but I still sleep with a flannel (obv not one I have washed with!) at the ripe old age of 37! It is the feel of it against my face. If I wake up and can't find it, I turn the light on!!! Dh hates it!
