argh...just lost a big post

Oooggs - poor you with 3 sick dc. Hope they're better soon.

Hope T is better soon too SPB.

Glad you had a nice weekend away Maveta.

I know I've forgotten loads

Err...I can't see the pics Pillock

Um...oh yes, at your dh CD, why can they not think for themselves

SOL - glad to hear K is eating better too.

NL - for the meet up: there will be one weekend in early Jan I can't do...but not sure which one yet. Basically it's FIL's 60th birthday on the 9th Jan and either the weekend before or the weekend after there's a surprise birthday party for him. However dh has offered to help many times but his brother has said it's fine he will organise it...invites still haven't gone out , so we don't know what date it is yet .

normabutty · 25/11/2007 20:26

Hi Leaky , sorry x-posted there!

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 20:28

Thank you NB and LovelyLeaky. xx

Need to get off here in a mo as DH wants the computer ........

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 20:29

Thanks Leaky - Monday or Wednesdy looking good then Will pray you get good news on the flat soon.

Can I just have a self pitying moan moment - just been wrapping dh's birthday presents and am feeling rubbish. It doesn't feel like I've got him much, certainly not as much as I would like but I was a bit hard up before this whole redundancy thing and of course it's worse now. Thing is - we can manage the Christmas shopping ok, especially for the girls - but wherever I go and whatever I look at I find myself thinking 'can't afford that, can't do that' because of the job thing and from then it's a very short step to 'can't dream about that, can't look forward because the future seems so uncertain' Oh I know I'm being pathetic. Everything will be fine - I just need to have more faith! Sorry

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 20:31

norma - it's my fil's 60 th in Jan as well !!!!! - and we were at the same wedding and both have girls born in April !!!!!- you're not me are you ????(thinks has developed alternate personality which has taken over the computer )

well that's snapped me out of self pity mode anyway.....

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 20:33

CD - maybe you and dh and girls should come up to York for your hols then?

StealthPolarBear · 25/11/2007 20:34

another winge...
now dh has it b&&&&r
sorry, winge done

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 20:37

Is that an offer of accomodation!!? Cos we sure as heck can't afford to go on hols anywhere for the foreseeable future ..... Yes you DO need to "have Faither" (small as a mustard seed and all that ) ... it IS going to be fine - DH and I on the other hand are goig to be poor forever and ever and ever .... be thankful you can afford Christmas - we certainly can't .... eeeeek ......

We haven't even got 1p to our name atm. Feeling surprisingly calm about though....

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 20:38

Fatih even

RAH to DH! xx

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 20:39

DH & I haven't bought each other Christmas or Birthday gifts since we were teens.

normabutty · 25/11/2007 20:43

NL...did I leave half of me in York after I moved

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 20:51

Sorry. I'm being morose. Going to go and mope elsewhere.

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 20:52

Thanks Dippy - that has helped me pull self together. About the hols - sadly I have no room at the inn here - but I might be able to sort something through the folk at church - seriously - if you ever though it might be do-able for you to go away let me know and I will see what's going You are NOT going to be poor for ever and ever - the fab job for you is just around the corner! With the no penny thing - is there a glimmer of light at the end of tunnel?

Norma - Oh right - that's what was taking up space in the understairs cupboard

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 20:53

Noooooooooh don't go - we can be morose together

elkiedee · 25/11/2007 20:57

NL, I'd love to come to a meet up in York or somewhere but don't plan it around me. A Monday would be more likely than a Wednesday as it would work well in conjunction with an extended weekend in Ilkley - up Saturday, meet up via Leeds for the day Monday and probably back to my mum's overnight, home to London Tuesday. If it's Newcastle or somewhere, might still consider it but I think I do need to plan because it makes a huge difference in train fares on the East Coast line - I assume that won't change much when National Express take over from GNER.

elkiedee · 25/11/2007 21:01

I'm now away from home at my aunt's for a few days, panicking about having a kitchen as the builder discovered some unanticipated problems. dp may kindly take on the waiting in at the house for deliveries on his own tomorrow while I run around North London with D.

Sorry NL, CD, Runny and everyone else feeling low.

Babies, can't you pleeeeeeeeeaaaasssssssseee share tips on sleeping on babiesnet?

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 21:02

I would LOVE to take you up on that offer NL - seriously.

Do you know what - I am completely useless. I am a complete moron who can't get a job. There. I've said it now.

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 21:02

Right Elkie - well that's all worth knowing - when are you going back to work?

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 21:04

You are NOT useless. You are lovely and the lynchpin of your family (no disrespect to dh - has he given up on the pc now)

The job thing is v v difficult - especially with childcare to consider too.

Anyway - holiday-wise I will put out feelers and when I have a sniff of anything I will let you know

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 21:05

You're not a moron either!

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 21:09

actaully - I should share with you all my recent baking disasters - two lots of flapjack utterly failed and today - gingernuts which stuck to the greasproof paper (think I should have greased it)

Dh is begging me to stop baking....he says I'm using the wrong sort of margerine or butter - depending on recipe.

I think I'm just NOT a Domestic Goddess

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 21:11

Have a good sniff, NL - we ain't going anywhere smelly

I am a moron, Trust me.

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2007 21:13

How dare you insinuate that any of my church family smell......actually.....ok will smell!

Do you want to tell me why you are a moron - I refuse to believe it - has something particular led you to that conclusion?

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2007 21:19

I can't get a job. I am completely useless and unemployable. I have no transferable skills and nothing to offer anyone.

Sexonlegs · 25/11/2007 21:24

CD, stop right now. You are not useless, you are not a moron, you are not unemployable.

You are a wonderful, thoughtful, caring person, who is a terrific mummy.

Why so low today?

Can I help in your job hunting in any way?
