Cazboldy thanks for message about Izzy's eyes. Don't worry I will not be fobbed off, will be going back if I'm not happy with how they are! Poor M, glad there was no damage.

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 22:15

Have I got the smallest baby now? Pesha D weighs more than that now doesn't he? Izzy is one of the oldest as well. Maybe I should worry She was only 6lbs 12oz born though.

No I will not worry. I will keep chanting to myself, she is a happy healthy baby, she is a happy healthy baby!

NorthernLurker · 14/11/2007 22:24

BWI - Izzy is fine, she is lovely! I've no idea what B weighs because I haven't been near scales but I think I'll take her next week just out of interest. Last time she was weighed she had dropped down the centiles a bit but I had what I think must be the only sensible HV in the world and she said that it was probably due to starting weaning and eating various amounts instead of tons of milk. Good job she said that as I had already decided NOT TO WORRY whatever weight she was. I know she's fine, not ill, not wasting away - just individual. Trust your mummy instinct - if you are worried get it checked out but if not then just enjoy your beautiful daughter

PeshaCake · 14/11/2007 22:42

BWI and SOL - I have just been looking in dd's red book. She was 8lb at birth so smack bang on 75th line, by 2 weeks she was down to 25th, didnt regain birth weight till 4 weeks, by 6 weeks she was down to the 9th and hovered around there (mostly below) until 36 weeks when she shot up to the 25th line (and I remember her looking really chunky then!) by 18months she was on the 50th line but then slowly dropped back down to the 9th and has stayed there ever since. I worried about her, especially when she dropped again aged 2 but the hvs never did. No one ever really said anything, she was having ocassional top ups of formula as a baby which i think was a hv suggestion but could have been mil and most friends I knew thought it necessary/normal so I did.

Anyway my point is that that seems very similar to yours, she was 15lb 4.5 at 29 weeks and no one batted an eyelid. I'd assumed the big fuss with D was because he'd dropped so steadily from the 91st line to right off the bottom and at 28 weeks is still only 14lb. But it seems to me that there must be some new directorate or something for hvs to monitor growth charts much more closely and get any variations checked out. Hopefully it wont be long before they realise the error of their ways and stop putting so much unnecessary stress and pressure on mothers. Its ridiculous and makes me quite

Oh have texted ellie and she's fine I'll send her this way!

PeshaCake · 14/11/2007 22:49

Bit of a x post there so yes she is the dinkiest ange but you are very dinky yourself too! And if she was small born then i think its more significant how much they have crossed ie across how many centiles than what the actual weight is iyswim.

have you seen the little acorns thread?

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 22:51

Thanks Pesha

HV had a new one on me today. She checked her length as well (just below 50 centile) now worried more because there are more than 4 centiles difference between length and weight. Their directives say the two should correlate more!! Basically she is just covering herself.

She did say "just think how much worse it could be if you weren't bf" wasn't sure what point she was making though!

Glad Ellie ok. Hello if you're looking Ellie.

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 22:52

x-post

Yes I've just been reading it Pesha. I'm always a little wary of posting on threads outside ours but will probably post something.

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 22:53

oooh and Happy Birthday for tomorrow Pesha, in case I forget

Have sent you a pressie on facebook

weeonion · 14/11/2007 22:55

bwi - i know others have said it - but please dont stress. as sol said - if only those charts could be binned. there has been so much worry for loads of mums because of them and overzealous HV. the babies all seem fine and most of them on this thread are doing great. as sol says - she is a happy healthy baby.

Our HV voiced concern last week that C has moved up to the 99th height/length wise. "we will need to keep an eye on that" her dad is 6"4 FFS.!!

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 22:56

Totally off the subject now. Is anyone giving their los vitamins? I was with Izzy for a while [they smell vile] but the bottle smashed on the way back from Spain and haven't bought anymore yet Any recommendations??

weeonion · 14/11/2007 22:56

pesha - happy birthday. hope someone has made you a fab princess cake. make sure dp doesnt eat the door!!!

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 22:57

Weeonion - Thanks! HVs just need to look at the whole picture not just those bloody charts.

PeshaCake · 14/11/2007 22:58

Little acorns support thread

Very strange about the bfing comment but makes a nice change to hear a (presumably?!) supportive comment about bfing! D is also on the 50th line for length and his head is huge!! I have pretty much given up on trying to put trousers on him as his length is definitely 6-9 months but he's not nearly chunky enough so its mostly dungarees or baby grows! And his arms seem really long

weeonion · 14/11/2007 23:01

bwi - no vitains here as yet!

NorthernLurker · 14/11/2007 23:02

Weeonion - what are you going to do - put iron weights on her head to stop her growing off the chart - hv's need to get a grip!

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 23:03

oh they look so cute in dungarees! lol at arms being long!

Thanks for the link.

weeonion · 14/11/2007 23:05

lol NL - yep. i was thinking of sitting her under heavy weights or doing whole body binding to keep her wee.

PeshaCake · 14/11/2007 23:05

Aargh sorry got distracted so x posted loads. Glad you saw the thread ange. Thanks for remembering my birthday Will check out facebook tomorrow, if I look now ill never get to bed!

WO pmsl at cake comment!! But I think I ate more than my fair share of dds cake so am now on a diet! We will be going to costas for breakfast though once the kids are in school
And at your hv wanting to keep an eye on her height.
Surely they could just keep their concerns to themselves and make a mental note to keep an eye on things if they're really worried without trying to stress parents out unnecessarily until there is actually a significant reason to be concerned iyswim

PeshaCake · 14/11/2007 23:09

Lol was going to make a comment about putting her to sleep in a little box so she cant grow too much at night but decided I'd waffled on too much crap already!

And yes Ange he does look very cute in his dungarees (although I think he'd look cute in a paper bag! Actually most babys would probably look cute in a paper bag But ykwim!) and really its only babies and toddlers who can carry them off so best to get the most out of it!

busywithIzzy · 14/11/2007 23:20

Thanks everyone for your support, where would we all be without each other.

Off to bed now before I get too soppy

Night all xx

elkiedee · 14/11/2007 23:42

Surely health visitors ought to be able to see if a baby's doing ok other ways rather than looking up charts. Glad I don't have your HV weeonion, I would also be wondering what I'm doing wrong and how to shrink D!

AGM was quite interesting, though I was the only person to go who didn't have a key role in the NCT in any way. I'm hoping to get more involved in the branch newsletter in some way.

Maveta, congrats to your sister.

And thanks for the link to the zebra suit. If it had feet I'd be very tempted. D is very resistant to wearing socks and it's cold here though. And I didn't manage to get a set of zebra suits for him in every size (I was seriously considering it) as they sold out when I went to look, but I do have a 12-18 months one - he'll be there by 10 months if not before.

In some fit of madness I bought my own leopard print coat last year and then couldn't wear it because it didn't button up comfortably even when I wasn't showing. So, I decided to wear it out today even though it looks glaringly last year's coat. Well, it amuses me to wear it anyway!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 15/11/2007 00:03

bollocks to charts
Joe is falling down them and they want me to make sure I attend next month (we have an evening clinic once a month) to get him checked again. My child is in 9-12mth clothing ffs, he's hardly underweight!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 15/11/2007 00:05

sorry, not read anything, have been asleep since 6.30 this evening, having a shitty time, relapse of muppetry at the weekend, crying at every soppy thng on the tv and some that weren't even that soppy! then struggling to stay awake since, damn the Narcolepsy!

time for a new thread though, cos that way I'll know where I am!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 15/11/2007 00:15

new thread here sign in please!

weeonion · 15/11/2007 00:15
