hi all.

I've hardly been online the last couple of weeks as dd came down with chickenpox. She's much better now and back at nursery. ds however is showing no signs of getting it. I'm hoping he either avoids it completely (wishful thinking probably), or gets it very soon as we're going on holiday in 2 weeks time to Centerparcs.

How is everyone preparing for Christmas?? I'm hopelessly behind. I need to write all my cards out, wrap presents, and put up our tree and decorations.

Turkiegirl · 03/12/2004 12:40

on DVD tho, not the book. She has Baby Mozart and loves it.

yulettsdaughter · 03/12/2004 12:41

er - still got to buy some of my presents (are you really at the wrapping/decoration stage?!)
sorry your dd has been poorly. which centreparcs are you going to?

yulettsdaughter · 03/12/2004 12:42

ooh, you can get a "neighbourhood animals" dvd? i'm off to amazon to have a look...

Turkiegirl · 03/12/2004 12:42

all of my presents are wrapped!

yulettsdaughter · 03/12/2004 12:43

go away

was hyper organised this year and did it all before I went back to work! Good job, as I never get to the shops lately!
Having said that, I'm off shopping now as I need the rest of my outfit for tonight!

MerryMetrobaby · 03/12/2004 12:45

HD - at the moment all the presents are stuck in a box in the corner of the room. We had 18 kids to buy for (dh has a large family), ordering the presents was easy as I did it all online - however the thought of wrapping them all ..... Haven't done anything else yet.

We're off to CP oasis. We're also be stopping en route at dh's family who all live near manchester. We're looking forward to it. I hope CP Oasis has improved as there was some MN'ers who were disappointed with the quality earlier in the year

Chuffingoodtime · 03/12/2004 12:45

dd has the 'farmyard' einstein dvd and enjoys it although she can't watch all of it. (she doesn't sit for any of it) stands and dances especially for old macdonald when they sing the song and show the animals at the same time.
Still writing cards, some pressies bought (not all). Only 2 1/2 weeks until we fly out to NZ for a month.

yulettsdaughter · 03/12/2004 12:47

Turkiegirl - that was my plan, getting all the presents before I went back to work. Didn't manage everything though.
MerryMetrobaby (like the name, by the way!) - we have been to Longleat and Sherwood Forest. Centerparcs is supposed to be great for kids at this time of year I've heard - will there be a Santa in a log cabin and everything?

MerryMetrobaby · 03/12/2004 12:48

We've got baby Shakespear and Baby Bright. Ds doesn't seem that bothered by TV at the moment. Although with dd's love of by Thomas the ** Engine, he will probably be indoctrinated early. Can you tell I hate Thomas

Trying to avoid all commercial stuff totally - hate barney the most.

Chuffingoodtime · 03/12/2004 12:50

yes, not so much the flight this time as dd is an ants in her pants at the moment.

yulettsdaughter · 03/12/2004 12:51

how long is the flight? does dd have to sit on your lap?

MerryMetrobaby · 03/12/2004 12:54

i thought my xmas name was a bit unoriginal. Some mn'ers have done a very good job with theirs - esp impressed with yours YD - THAT ONE WAS A TOUGHIE.

opps excuse caps - have ds with me fighting over the keyboard.

have booked dd to see santa and have pony ride over to see him at centerparcs. she'll love it. Last year another Mn'er - i think it was Slinky - said it was a fantastic experience. Shame ds won't know any different

MerryMetrobaby · 03/12/2004 12:54

how long are you away for chuffed?

yulettsdaughter · 03/12/2004 12:56

Sounds great MM. Can take no credit for my xmas name - was thought up by LAMBda.

Chuffingoodtime · 03/12/2004 12:59

Away till mid January. I think it is about 26 hours total. dd has a sky cot booked so yes basically on knees for the flight as she doesn't really like the cots all that much.

dolbear · 04/12/2004 09:24

good morning I was thinking of dollsandbears ? or is that not xmasy enough ?
just have to work out how to do it now ,
totaly agree and the Barney thing , he is banned from this hse , more of an elmo person myself

TracyK · 04/12/2004 18:18

I don't want to jinx anything - but ds has been in such a good mood the past couple of days. Taking his naps, eating well, sleeping till 6.30am - I DO hope it lasts!
He now has 2 teeth on the bottom and four on top and maybe a 5th poking through on top. He had great fun tonight with a raw carrot stick - pretending to be a cheese grater!

dot1 · 05/12/2004 15:16

Oh no - was in the middle of a really long message and it got deleted!!

Anyway, ds2 is loving pretty much any food we fling his way now, which has included scrambled eggs, toast, almond butter on toast, a couple of dry cornflakes (I know - too much salt...) and of course his favourite - garlic breadsticks! He's almost started turning his nose up at his usual mush..!

Should be madly preparing for ds1's birthday on Tuesday but we're way behind - nothing wrapped yet and there's party stuff to prepare, including the purchase of a Barbie cake (oh yes, he really really wants one so that's that...) Smile
