kissie just as a possible ds loves pitta bread or pannini , not a gluten free expert so might be completely talking out of my arse !

dolbear · 26/11/2004 19:17

sorry I ment Krissie !!!

hewlettsdaughter · 26/11/2004 20:12

Cheese should be fine as long as you don't go overboard on it - I've fed dd on cauliflower cheese (and is it your ds that likes that too dot?)
DD suddenly enjoying her food now - wolfed her sweet potato at teatime.

Chuffed · 27/11/2004 20:39

Kristina, I think a mild cheese is fine, perfect for foods etc. We like things like Tuna melt which is a pasta with a can of tuna and white cheesy sauce, mushrooms, onions, sweetcorn all mixed in. We bought gluten free pasta for it so dd could have it too initially. She loves it. Other things like lasagne (vege or meat) can be made with gluten free lasagne. Then the whole family can have the same meals.
dd had prawn crackers today when we had chinese for dinner. She did like them, her appetite seems to be back (or coming back)which is nice.
Indoor cycling instructors course going well, but soooo tired. Off to bed at 8.40 on a Saturday night, how's that for sad.
Have a good Sunday everyone.

TracyK · 27/11/2004 22:54

ds not eating his food again. Fine for yoghurt/fruit - but NO savouries! Is v. willing to try and feed himself - but virtually nothing goes in his tummy. Of course making up for this by drinking loads of milk!
Nappies v. runny - upset tummy=not wanting solids or runny cos he's having loads of milk?

LucyJones · 28/11/2004 21:11

Hi everyone! Poorly ds here - 3rd and 4th teeth coming through at the minute (so he will have 3 at the bottom and one at the top!), he also caught conjunctivitus from nursery so is not very ahhpy to be pinned down and have his eyes forced open to administer drops hope you have all had nice weekends

TracyK · 28/11/2004 21:16

LJ are you still bf - you can use b milk for sore eyes.

Fennel · 29/11/2004 10:08

happy monday morning everyone! am SOOO glad to be back at work after hellish weekend - am beginning to think it was a mistake to have ANY children let alone 3.

dd3 is not eating lately either, I think it must be teething as she ate almost anything til this week. she is developing stronger opinions about life too - had a mini-strop when I wouldn't let her eat a biro. and another when I wouldn't let her keep dunking my pedometer in her porridge!

Tracyk - dd has runny nappies when she goes back to just milk and less solids too.

Fennel · 29/11/2004 10:10

chuffed - we both went to bed at 8.45 last night - and I'd already had a nap at 7pm! don't know how I'm going to get out and stay awake for xmas party season

LucyJones · 29/11/2004 10:10

Morning. No longer breastfeeding TK but ds seems much better this morning thank goodness!

KristinaM · 29/11/2004 10:51

morning all.
fennel - sorry you had a crap weekend. never mind you will get some semi intelligent conversation at work and feel much better
hope all the sicky babies are feeling better
we had a lovely weekend - Dh not working at all for the first time in ages. started to get organised for Christmas (which I LOVE)
DD got a great report from school. I was really concerned as she is the youngest (and smallest) child in the school. but has large personality to make up for it
DS nearly 7 months and now mobile in a strange sort of way. not exactly crawling or even rolling but he can move about the floor a bit. also very keen on the computer keyboard hence one handed typing

handlemecarefully · 29/11/2004 14:21

TraceyK

Have you tried to give your baby more finger food? My ds often won't eat savouries, but it dawned on me that this might be more to do with his frustration at being spoon fed than not liking the food. He seems to be very independent minded. He doesn't have the dexterity to handle a spoon himself, but he can cope with finger food. So I've been giving him egg sandwiches, home made sweet potato chips, cheese straws etc etc and he eats much better. He drops a proportion of it, but is getting more practised at it all the time.

I still give him some meals by spoon because its difficult to get a balanced diet into him otherwise, but he really enjoys the finger food dinners.

hewlettsdaughter · 29/11/2004 17:54

How do you do the sweet potato chips HMC? Do you use a deep fat fryer?
Been there with the drops for conjunctivitis, Lucy - not much fun is it.

LucyJones · 29/11/2004 19:31

Thanks HD - nice to hear someone else has been through it! Only got to put in drops tomorrow now and he seems to much better but is very grumpy due to teething!! He thinks having his teeth cleaned and being zipped into his gro-bag is hysterical though so it makes bedtimes a bit of a laugh!! (long may it continue!!)

LucyJones · 29/11/2004 19:32

p.s. also very interested in sweet potato chips - sounds like something me and dh would love!

hello everyone
hope all ds, dd and dh are well
DS no 2 is over his 40 fags a day cough, still a bit snotty has 4 teeth now and bit me during feeding this afternoon - I might have to give it up if it continues.

MrsDoolittle · 29/11/2004 22:12

Love the sound of those sweet potato chips.

Dh and I went away this weekend and left dd with dm for Saturday night. The first night without her - strange. Just my luck to have a hideous cold and cough We had a lovely time but I couldn't sleep Saturday night I felt so ill. Dh said it was just not sexy!! Sunday I sounded like I was on 60 a day. apparently. Today, I'm off work and sounding marginally better but my throat hurts.

How sorry for myself do I sound??

Fennel · 30/11/2004 09:28

Mrs D - bad luck on the unromantic weekend away. I've had that, it's so annoying isn't it?

Parsnip or aubergine chips are also good.

Dot1 - I emailed you about maybe meeting up sometime.

dd3 is very off form. woke and fed 3 times in the night - hasn't done that since the first few weeks. hope it really is teething not a new bad habit.

dolbear · 30/11/2004 09:49

Morniong peeps - hugs and sympathy 2 those having rough time !!!
well the water has stopeed ds getting me up @ 4 am . now it is 2 am , oh well all the best ideas and all that.
nursary gave ds some satsuma on fri which went down well , but also came back @ the other end in buckets - nice
was @ spa near henley - y-day dh sent me and a matethere 4 my b-day was lovely !
Have deceided I have NO imagination for feeding ds ! I seem to be far behind you guys am sooo pants must try harder

Fennel · 30/11/2004 09:55

dolbear - on the plus side for feeding babies boring food - in my experience even if you feed babies all sorts of wonderful healthy stuff at this age most of them will only want to eat plain pasta and junk food once they hit toddlerdom. am a bit less motivated with dd3 than with the others due to this.

MrsDoolittle · 30/11/2004 10:03

Well I am getting better slowly. Slept fitfully. I was online before going to bed last night so I can only assume thats the reason for dreaming about mumsnet during one of those short periods when I was asleep.
Fennel - the picture I had of you in my dream (please don't be offended) You were wearing a polyester dress, like the ones old ladies wear. You also had a tight, tight perm that was a dark aubergine colour and waxed (the wet look). And you were quite elderly Couldn't imagine you with a surfer dude dh now
Hoiw wierd is that?

MrsDoolittle · 30/11/2004 10:06

Spent alot of last night coughing too, so I have decided that is the WORST part of a cold. Obviously I am still unsexy! Thanks for the sympathy Fennel

Fennel · 30/11/2004 10:21

Dot1 - I need you to confirm that I look NOTHING like Mrs D suggests!!!!! elderly aubergine polyester indeed

Fennel · 30/11/2004 10:22

though have to admit I also don't look much like a surfer chick either (not skinny and teenage enough to wear that sort of skimpy beach gear)
