Glad you are coping Yg. If I send you another photo of Ds can you put in the April babies folder? The ones i sent you before seem to have been lost in cyberspace

YG- you poor thing. Toothache is horrid. In fact I reckon its worse than labour and having root canal treatment for me was worse than giving birth I swear.

If the pain gets any worse, you could see an emergency dentist at the hospital. When I was 12 wks pg I had do to this as the pain was unbearable.

Lowryn - I love your photos especially the other ones that were taken at the beach. I am doing a City & Guilds Photogragphy course at the moment, and I keep looking at other people's photos much more closely now!

How is everyones babies coping with the extra hour today?

Chuffed · 31/10/2004 15:59

I was having same problem with breakfast YG as dd wouldn't eat weetbix either but then I changed ratios - does dd like banana? I put about 1/2 well mushed banana with weetbix and milk then heat it so that it is really soft. If you taste it yourself you'll mainly taste banana with weetbix there to pad it out.
Well that's what dd has anyway. All quiet in the chuffed household. dd woke up at 6.15 this morning which was not so good considering she didn't get to sleep till 8.30 last night as she just wouldn't sleep. Ah well it just seems to be Saturdays.

MrsDoolittle · 31/10/2004 16:19

Funny old weekend this one. Dd is not majorly unhappy but she is sick. I have given her only weetabix today and water, she had a bf first thing. She is getting miserable this afternoon though.

Seems as though your antibiotics are kicking in YG, thank goodness!! How are things now?

I don't put her dd in trousers either Fennel, for the same reason but she's much cuter in dungarees anyway

hewlettsdaughter · 31/10/2004 16:24

dolbear - you poor thing! Your ds too.
We have been making flat-pack furniture this afternoon (my favourite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon - not!)
YG, glad the toothache is a bit better.
Haven't been able to see white spots in dd's mouth again so not sure if she has thrush or not. Her various rashes are better, so it looks like I will be going to work tomorrow.
Good luck to both of us YG!

MrsDoolittle · 31/10/2004 16:34

Goodluck going back to work tomorrow HD

hewlettsdaughter · 31/10/2004 16:35

Thanks MrsD

Fennel · 31/10/2004 16:39

dd3 is a big fan of readybrek, she's only started having it this week. we will try weetabix next. she's not a very fussy eater (yet).

kristinaM - dd1 loves school but she's been there over a year now, they start at just over 3 in our local school (nursery + reception class, but all full time). dd2 will go after Xmas too into the same class (halving my nursery fees, hurrah!). How is your dd enjoying it?

I have toothache too and root canal work has been suggested. is it really that bad? Am torn between having it done now and making the most of free dentist treatment due to recently having had a baby, or hoping it will just go away if I ignore it.

hunkermunker · 01/11/2004 07:39

Hello ladies - sorry have not been on the April babies thread much recently (too much exploring on the rest of MN - it's addictive - but I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone that!).

KristinaM your story about being in the lift made me laugh! Know what you mean about people getting it wrong age-wise too - though they do it the other way round for DS - he's got loads of hair so they assume he's older and say he's a big boy. He is solid and quite long, but he's by no means the 9-month-old they assume!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a tubby baby - dungarees are his staple wardrobe too (except for some lovely fleecy-inside joggers from Next - really stretchy waistband and toasty warm).

I'm a bit in shock - nobody told DS that it was GMT and he's woken up an hour earlier than usual (6am instead of 7am). He went to bed later and woke about midnight for a feed, so I really thought he'd go longer! I couldn't understand why he was wide awake and perky (being not so very alert myself!).

Off to express now so there's some milk in the freezer for work on Wednesday. I thought I'd left heaps for yesterday, but I reckoned without DS the milk gannet!

hunkermunker · 01/11/2004 07:41

PS - sorry to hear of the toothache problems here too. I'm terrified of the dentist - genuinely phobic - so I'm very sympathetic! Hope they're all sorted very soon.

Good luck at work today HD.

MrsD hope your dd is feeling better now.

Fennel just do the teeth make the most of the free dental treatment as root canals are really expensive.

Can't believe the weekend is over already and here I am at work

Fennel · 01/11/2004 09:07

welcome back to the world of work, yorkiegirl. hope it's not too traumatic.

good luck HD as well.

do you think toothache is related to having babies (leeching all our calcium supplies?) some people say that but I don't know if it's really true.

Fennel · 01/11/2004 09:09

chuffed - that you are hating work so much. we've had loads of time with children due to an 11 day half term so it's a relief to be back at work really, just me, a good mug of coffee, and mumsnet! (ignoring my scary backlog of work again).

which will win - fear of painful dental treatment or desire to save money on treatment? hmm.

dot1 · 01/11/2004 09:28

eugh - no-one told our 2 about the clocks either, so it was wide awake for both of them at 5.30am yesterday, and 5.45am today - that's a lot of day time to fill..!

Yes, I think dungarees are the answer - it's just quite strange getting used to how different ds2 is shape-wise to ds1. My Mum's knitting them both jumpers at the moment, so I've had to take various measurements today and ds2's waist/tummy is 3" bigger than ds1's (and he's 3 next month!). But I'm sure they'll all even out in the end....??! And I do love the fact that ds2 is sooooooo cuddly!!

dolbear · 01/11/2004 09:35

good luck to all those starting work - hugs etc

fennel and yg and all those with teeth realted issues DO IT no matter how scarey , I did't ( being big dentist wimp type), had to have one pulled then got me a dry socket i.e. the hole got infected and when I went in the receptionists said they would rather give birth than have one of those !!!!!!

ds is much netter 2-day AND we got some sleep uninterupted 10-7 yippee !!! feel positively high

re sneeking weetabix - half a banana- 1- pf and half a weetabix in the morning

lunavix - I also had a craving 4 fruit , could we have chocolate - burger king ? - no apples and grapes- great !

ds is also ' tubby ' he is the size of an ave 9-mths ha ha i don't care , just a bit rich on the old clothes !

MrsDoolittle · 01/11/2004 10:07

Well I decided to keep dd at home today because she has not been well. When I phoned the nursery they seemed convinced it was orange juice that made her poorly. I mixed some freshly squeezed with banana. They said they wouldn't give it to any child under 1 year because it curdles in their stomach and a variety of other reasons.
I was only following recipes by Annabel Karmel
So I am at home today.
Not happy to be woken at 6 either, so left her babbling to herself for an hour - bad mummy.

I tell you, something like this ornage juice thing doesn't half do a good job of knocking your confidence

Goodluck to HD and YG back at work!!

Chuffed · 01/11/2004 10:20

MrsD it could have been anything, that's the thing with babies. We gave dd some satsuma segments on Sunday and she was fine. We also did the carrots cooked in orange juice OK as well. All the books say citrus after 6 mths though. Don't let it knock your confidence, 99% of the time you have a happy healthy baby.

Thought this might be handy have applied for my free wipes - anybody else want to? here

dolbear · 01/11/2004 11:50

ds has not been able to keelp milk down now for two days ! thought I was doing well this morning with 3 oz , but half of that just came back at me . he is keeping juice down him though ,
when do i get worried enough to take him to the GP ? I have an appointment 2-morrow for the pill so maybe I might piggyback him on it !

don't you worry on the OJ front , nursaries don't know everything and as they are always telling us all kiddies r different so there !

Chuffed · 01/11/2004 12:07

dolbear I'd take him to dr.
