hello, we're over here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissNorty · 31/10/2007 18:15

My doorbell has just rung for the first time and I ignored it! I wouldn't mind if my neighbour prearranged with me that her kids would knock, but I don't do all the estates children!

DH said coming home he saw someone dressed up as a pirate

Interview sounds odd MJ...I was matched easily so didn't have to do that but assumed someone would be trying to ascertain exactly what it is you do? Salaries people sound shit - I have been paid a different amount every month since I left but as its more than I expected, I haven't asked any questions. I also had pension questions and we have a nominated person in finance who deal with pensions - surely you have as well? Sound like a useless bunch.....can tell they're affiliated to the NHS

milkyJammy · 31/10/2007 18:24

The uselessness of HR is nothing to do with the NHS. They were pants before we merged into the HPA.

Just had a group of about 8 children round. All well dressed up, and very polite. They had 2 adults at the back, and let all the younger children come and get their sweets first. They all took one each (little haribo jellies) and then one child asked if he could have another please so I let them all have another dip into the bowl. Trick or treaters like that I can cope with . But it's bathtime and bed time now, so any more might just have to do without.

IamDaisy · 31/10/2007 18:38

we used to go "guising" when we were young (a very old celtic tradition that was exported to America and morphed into trick or treat, dontcha know) and had to earn our treats by doing a song, rhyme or joke. We would ask if peple would like to help the guisers and if not we went on our merry way. No throwing of sundry food items, or worse. It was so much nicer than trickle treating as DS calls it!

We've not had anyone yet either, but this street is like a retirement village and we've been in the back room with no lights on front of house....bah humbug!

SputnikonaBroomstick · 31/10/2007 19:24

Don't think trick or treating has been exported to Italy, but Halloween has, every year there is more pumpkin related plastic tat around.
Tomorrow is a public holiday though. All Saints, and then the day after, "All Dead" everyone goes to visit their dead at the cemetery.

all you lot with one lo ha ha just you wait
well kids have all gone mine in bed feel a bit knackered tbh
they were very good but so noisy

we have had about 10 lots of tts already and one guy took my photo I asked him not to as I felt it was abit intrusive as my ds was there and the door was wide open unreasonable or not?????

anyway off for a pizza and a sit down will catch up tomorrow

annobal I always go into kingston on a wed if you are about?

milkyJammy · 31/10/2007 19:42

I'd be a bit miffed too if someone took my photo when they came t or t-ing. Especially if as you say the door was wide open.

LittleMissNorty · 31/10/2007 19:50

Taking a photo ....very odd

fairyfay · 31/10/2007 19:56

Evening all.

Andiem, I could do next Wednesday instead of Friday, if Annobal and Foxy can make that

LittleMissNorty · 31/10/2007 20:24

Evening FF....have you done halloween in your house?

annobal · 31/10/2007 20:25

Just got back from the osteopath - there's trick or treaters everywhere!

I'm good for Wednesday - I'll have DS2&3 with me...

fairyfay · 31/10/2007 20:37

Hi LMN, no halloween here. Dd is 2 and has no idea about it yet so we didn't do anything.

Annobal I will have DS and DD with me as well. We could go to the Cafe au Play in Kingston. It's not all that great but it is safe for DCs and they can run around and play without getting in too much trouble, and they have some toys. Is also very pushchair friendly

LittleMissNorty · 31/10/2007 20:42

We only had about 4 knocks on the door...so not too bad....think DD has just had a nightmare......really horrible crying while still asleep....she's ok now...oh was horrible though

IamDaisy · 31/10/2007 20:43

I like the Halloween name Sputnik...now all you need is a spell to sort out your dodgy keyboard

Can't think of anything halloweeny at all for mine, but as it is officially cancelled chez Boo .....although I did allow DS one of my skeleton jellies for pudding.

Just got DD to bed. She has been feeding like a mad thing this evening; every time I thought she was finished and took her off my boob, she started shaking and ferreting around and whimpering till I put her back on....very odd!

and NO trickle treaters at all here.....what few kids there are have probably been told not to bother us because of the baby.

andiem...not unreasonable at all; I'd have told the dimwit to feck orf in no uncertain terms.

IamDaisy · 31/10/2007 20:46

It's awful when that happens LMN. DS used to have such horrible night terrors when he was between about 18 mo and 4. He would scream inconsolably and was still asleep but awake, iyswim and it would take an age to calm him down. Thankfully they've stopped now, but used to be related to his growth spurts for some reason.

SputnikonaBroomstick · 31/10/2007 20:57

DD did too. hasn't lately, now I come to think about it.

Stll haven't tried hoovering the keyboard, but I suspect the problem has more to do with the fact that the laptop is 8 years old, so positively geriatric

justbeme · 31/10/2007 21:16

Well had 4 lots of kids knock and the last ones were a few minutes ago - Abit late i think.
