Absolutely NO ironing happens in this house.. to the point where both my iron and ironing board were bought by my mum as she must have thought I didn´t have them because of money rather than just a total lack of necessity. And the cover for the ironing board lost all its elastic and became useless (very mysterious seeing as it never gets used) about 6 months ago and has still never been replaced. So the ironing board just sits there looking naked. LIVE LONGER, DON´T IRON! I like the sound of it, going to try and spread the word
Today has been the climax of our village´s week long fiesta so we dressed N up as a ´trepijador´ (wine maker) and went out to watch the parade. Didn´t watch all of it though as it got a bit hectic and noisy for him after a while. He looked gorgeous though, will post photos as soon as I can be bothered to go find the usb lead for my camera Dh has a gig so has buggered off for the rest of the night and N is sleeping, we´re all decamped to the sitting room, N in travel cot and us on a mattress on the floor because, no joke, these fiestas get noisy and stay noisy til very late at night/early morning (think 4am) and our sitting room has no external walls so we´re nice and quiet in here.
Loads of people come to villages when fiestas are on, it´s like a huge party for allcomers. Last night was ´sopa a la fresca´ (open air supper) so neighbours get together in groups and set tables up in the street (all traffic inside the village is cut off for the night) all properly laid with table cloths and glasses, cups, plates etc. and they decorate their street with palm fronds, streamers, christmas lights etc. There are prizes for the best decorated streets. And then there´s always minstrels dressed in traditional dress walking around playing trad. music. It´s really lovely. We had a wander early evening but mostly missed it cos it kicks off late, maybe next year. Dh spotted some drunk yoofs getting into their car at about 7am but they didn´t drive off, they either passed out inside or thought better and went to find somewhere better to sleep. Drink driving is still a huge problem here, if I´d have seen them I reckon I´d have called the police.
Phew, I need a drink after that monologue
