Hells bells, Ellie - what a nightmare journey! Glad you got there safely eventually.

SBS - good luck with the cot move. I was really sad when we moved J but he did sleep better and I still sneak him into bed with me if he wakes up early. Last night was much better again - only one feed. No monitor here, it just picks up on every rustle and whimper which keeps me awake.

Oooggs - any news on your friends little boy who was in intensive care?

Am baking bread today .

oooggs · 29/09/2007 10:18

they are 6 months today - woooooo hooooooo

thanks to those who asked but no more news on Jack, still in ITU and progressing slowly.
Still going with no news is good news....

Well I went out with work last night - was driving, but changed mind at last minute. I now have a hangover - the first in over 3 years, food was fab, company fantastic and the wine was flowing. Left house at 7pm (children all in bed asleep) and back by 11.10pm.

DT's were great slept 6.40pm til 4.15am then 4.30am - 7.40am.

Had two fried egg sandwiches and a litre of juice but still feel crap but don't care I had a great time.

ellie glad you are safe and sound. enjoy your meet up today girls - could even think of driving - still over the limit

sol - sorry you had a shit time

liath - bread - yum

StealthPolarBear · 29/09/2007 10:42

hi everyone
Glad ellie is finally there safely, what a horrible journey
at your hangover oooggs, glad you had a good night
CD - thank you for the text
SOL, sorry you had such a crap night, but at least England won!
maveta we use monitor if downstairs or in our room with door shut (mainly for me as I stay awake worrying I won't hear him). Otherwise we don't and I'd rather hear his cries than suddenly hear crckly ones through the monitor! Need to get a new one actually as we sent the last one back as it was faulty, any recommendations?

LOL @ "Hell's Bells" Liath - haven't heard that in a loooong time! ....

....but....

Hell's Bells E - {{{{{hugs}}}} Sorry for your awful journey Yey for nice Debenhams man though (you certainly attract them, your "Damsel in Distress" act is most polished as I recall from the nice man in the garden centre )) Glad you are there now - Enjoy your time with Pesha and with Octo today (Nah, there's no chance she'd noticed a few extra boys .... might be different if they were girls!! Ask Pesha if she wants to chuck N & D in too! )

Happy 6 months, Erin and Jack! Glad you had a fab time last night, honey - You derserve it!

I have had the same monitors for all 3 of my DC's and they are still going strong - Think they are just basic Tomy ones Nothing fancy .....

StealthPolarBear · 29/09/2007 11:18

thanks
aargh trying to apply for mortgage
stressful!

CaptainDippy · 29/09/2007 11:24

Stressful indeed, poor you SPB! Hope it's sorted soon hon. xx

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2007 11:38

Good morning - SPB - re mortgages - I hear your pain - although I'm hoping the IFA will bear some of that for us this time. We are housebound today as chaps are here doing small building job - small but v messy! Rather like babs really....
Older children entertaining selves with crafts and DVD - will builder think I am bad mother because of DVD? Do I care?

CaptainDippy · 29/09/2007 11:50

No - you do not care!! DH doing cooking with older 2 - good daddy, me on MN, bad mummy!

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2007 12:01

Lunch is something on toast - but was pathetically pleased that could also provide beautifully sliced platter of fruit so builder will know offspring have balanced diet.

What are they cooking?

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2007 12:06

Have just realised that if really did care what builders thought then I should have moved the small mountain range which is my waiting to be ironed pile Does anyone else have a laundry problem that would take an entire laundrette to solve?

Re monitors - we have the BT one - which seems perfectly satisfactory - came from Amazon

octoandflash · 29/09/2007 12:20

Morning - manic morning tbh! Have already been to boys football and now they are at a birthday party - then off to see Ellie and Pesha in Street (((mine are the feral kids))) Mine totally hate shops so should be fun! But dh is away and is something to occupy us

I am totally addicted to facebook - very sad - worse than mn Must stop and wait to see if anyone wants to be my friend rather than stalking folk

Friend coming round for tea tonight and staying with her little girl - so have some company and excuse not to be online! (((saddo)))

Maveta - I have never had a monitor for mine - they are quite easy to hear...

SPB - good luck with the mortgage.

Ernie awake - lunch time (((gobble, gobble, munch, munch, spit, spit, more, more ))) He is keen to eat what we are eating now - just struggling with the transition. He had some of my bacon roll at footie this morning so may need to start getting my head round blw!

Have a nice day all - will report back later

Eddas · 29/09/2007 12:26

Nothernlurker, i too have an ironing mountain, tis hdden(from guests anyway) in my bedroom. It used to be on a dining room chair but got fed up with seeing it so moved it It just seems too much to conquer tbh!

Octo, sounds very busy! have fun meeting Ellie and Pesha. I'm also addicted to facebook

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2007 12:28

I did conquer mine briefly - at the start of maternity leave - before the baby. 3 days later the foothills were building again......impressed yours would fit on a chair though - mine takes up an entire blanket box

Eddas · 29/09/2007 12:39

that's part of the reason it got moved, it no longer fitted the chair and kept spilling off I did loads a couple pf weeks ago but now its back with a vengance

There's always so much to do, and it's all darn boring: wash/clean/cook and repeat

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2007 12:52

Oh its awful when you suffer an avelanche isn't it. Almost as bad as when your daughter eyes the pile soulfully and says 'mummy - when will i be able to wear my favourite skirt again' Favourite skirt is of course a nightmare to iron and thus gets left often at the bottom of pile.
oh dear - i am an apallingly bad mother.Only comfort is - I'm better at it than at being a housewife.

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2007 12:56

I don't believe it - the skirt scenario I just outlined - my middle girl has just played it out word for word! Has she been reading Mumsnet?????

Sexonlegs · 29/09/2007 13:37

Oh God, don't talk about ironing to me. I had hoped to be getting "a lady that does" but we cannot afford it. Cue piles of the stuff in the spare room. It is so depressing!

Ellie, glad you got there in the end. What a total nightmare for you all. Enjoy your day and here's hoping the return journey is a breeze!

SBS, I am sure N will be fine in his own room.

All ok here.

Both dd's slept until 7.45! Both I think are a bit under the weather. I feel crap too - sort of virally/pre cold thing. Just makes me feel completey wiped out. Thank God it is the weekend and I have dh to help.

Hope everyone is having a good day. xx

weeonion · 29/09/2007 14:01

ironing - what is that????? i only iron for job inteviews/ presentations and its been a while since i had either of those. dp irons in this house!
sol- hope you are feeling better. maybe the girls being a bit off colour was why it was a bit lively yesterday evening?
eliie- glad you made it and hope to see moe pics of the mini meetup!
sbs - we do have a monitor but as we live in a flat - not alot of point and also , as she is in a babynest - we cant use it as it is one of those movement pads for under the mattress. probabaly will use it when she moves into the big cot in her own room. have you checked out la redoute. i have just got 5 outfits from them and the mini price range for £20.
spb - hoep you get the mortgage sorted. i guess you own tbe going with northern rock!
oooggs - happy 6 months to erin and jack. god but it has flown!!!!!!!!!!!
liath - i do belive i can smell the bread on the west coast

ok - we are offto the musuem now. bored sitting in her this morning. planning on mkaing cute hair clips for c later. need to make her more girl-ish and less gardengnome-ish!

have a good day everyone! x

oooggs · 29/09/2007 14:40

hangover & birthday party do not mix

Pinions · 29/09/2007 15:12

Quick question for all you pram whores!!

Which is better Maclaren Triumph vs Maclaren Quest Sport????

Am looking for light/comfy/ok looking/durable, but most importantly sth easily taken out of the boot and folded/unfolded!

Well mortgage conversation all done, it took 45 minutes!! I don't think I've been on the phone for 45 minutes in total since having T!
Could just fancy some fresh bread
I don't iron either apart from DH's work shirts (and he uusally wears jeans and T shirts, shirt and tie once in a blue moon). Still have a pile but I don't think I've ironed since before becoming pregnant! If I have I've suppressed the memory.
Well we're on an economy drive, thinking being:

  • we need all the money we can get (obviously)
  • if I don't spend money on food we'll eat the stuff we've got before moving, rather than carting tins of beans to new house. It's going to be a boring couple of months

Hopefully easy to fold still have not really worked out ds1's pram yet properly

Am surprised it hasn't fallen to bits TBH (britax travel system) and DOES NOT fold.
