eah that photo is hilarious!!

laughalot · 30/09/2007 12:44

Medised is very good as it unblocks there nose at night

eandh · 30/09/2007 17:27

both of mine have horrible colds at the mo, pharmacist recommended txylix (sp) baby syrup for hattie which can be taken with either medised or calpol and got a chesty cough mixture for ellie.

Both of mine have medised at night with colds and teething, have raised the end of hatties cot with thick books and put karvol capsule on a muslin tied to her door but shes so snuffly and her cough wakes her up so sympathy to all of those with colds

theUrbanDryad · 30/09/2007 17:35

another vote for medised here as well. in fact i gave Z some on Friday night cause he was taking ages to fall asleep and i was going out for a meal with my mates! bad mother. i ended up getting absolutely battered, and apparently threw up for an hour and a half when i got in. Zac was very clingy yesterday and nursed almost all night. so i really hope the wine didn't go through to my milk! it was fun though (what i remember!)

ratfly · 30/09/2007 18:47

sympathies to all of you with dc's with a cold. s had one not so long ago - i seem to bring everything back from school for him to pick up. we calpol'd him up and it has cleared now, but the broken nights are awful - makes me wonder how i managed on so little sleep for so long when he was young.

now though he is getting a bit annoying at the end of the day - he just follows me round, crying. if i pick him up, he just wants to stand up somewhere else, but if i put him down anywhere he just cries. does anyone else's lo do that?

Dragonhart · 30/09/2007 20:26

Hi everyone back from Inverness yesterday then had to go straight out to a party after an 8 hour drive! Luke went mental there after so long tied up in the car so zonked out at bed time.

Ruth had a cold too Shimmer on our holiday so must be catching! She was very snotty and took a while to realise that she could breath out of her mouth and seemed to completly forget that she could when falling asleep.

I found that putting Vicks on her chest helped alot. I also gave her medinol (like calpol but without the colours as they send Luke crazy!) before her last feed which seemed to help as she was already drugged up when it came to bed time. She used to hate medicine but now gets all excited when I get the bottle out!

Read all the messages to catch up last night but have completly forgotten everything (you are much more cleverer than me shimmer!).

I have given up bf today. Feel a bit sad but mostly glad as I was really ready to stop. Ruth was not bothered at all, and actually went down easier than she normally does!

Oh and btw, I am not in my skinny jeans. I threw them away and bought some up-to-your-armpits-hide-the-rolls-of-flab-around-my-belly-old-lady ones. Much more comfortable!

Dragonhart · 30/09/2007 20:30

canmummy- hope your MIL is ok. My mum had a similar experience and all was ok so hope it is the same for her. xxx

Shimmer · 30/09/2007 21:35

Thanks for all the cold relief tips everyone. F seemed to be a little better this afternoon so i'm really hoping the cold is on the way out.

Ratfly F behaves very much like you said! Especially at the moment when he's a bit poorly and more clingy than usual. He just follows me around everywhere wanting picking up. He always wants to stand up and is happiest when i'm holdning his hands and walking him around, which is hell for my back! He can just about cruise along furniture (although our flat's not the most conducive for this) but I have to be standing with him as he can't pull himself up yet or sit back down without hurting himself! It's very time consuming and boring isn't it!?

Welcome back DH. I'm also in favour of the "up-to-your-armpits-hide-the-rolls-of-flab-around-my-belly-old-lady-ones" over the skinny jean . I read somewhere recently that the skinny jean's days are numbered anyway, apparently 2008 will be all about the wide leg. Phew.

Lizzzombie · 30/09/2007 21:41

I am ill.
I feel shit.
Its not fair.

LTH - I popped into Ha Ha at 6.15pm but you'd all gone home! Lightweights! Anytime you fancy a bra day in Eastbourne let me know. Ugh...one more week left in Boobshop till I start at Chavshop.

Lizzzombie · 01/10/2007 07:37

morning...its got worse, i've done something to my sholder so cant move my arm above my head or much at all. today is going to be fun.

theUrbanDryad · 01/10/2007 12:26

poor Lizzz - sympathy from here.

Ratfly/Shimmer - we got Z one of those trolley thingies, he pulls himself up on it and walks along looking very proud. means my back gets a bit of a rest! he cruises along the furniture as well, so i don't think it'll be long before he's walking, and then god help us all!

Lizzzombie · 01/10/2007 12:41

wow! go Zack!
DJ has one of those trolley things too, but hasnt figured out you can walk along with it yet.

i think you need one of those baby cage/guard things!

katwith3kittens · 01/10/2007 14:21

Am feeling very sad just right now and need a shoulder to cry on.

DH just phoned and told me some sad news. In his office one man who works for him has a 6 year old daughter with an incurable comdition, and well, to cut a long story short, she died on Saturday night.

It was expected, she wasnt supposed to live longer than her 2nd birthday, but I cant believe how emotional I feel about it all and I'm welling up just thinking about it all. Big hugs to all your LO's. I cant wait for mine to wake from his nap as I'm going to give him such a big cuddle. xx

Lizzzombie · 01/10/2007 14:22

Oh, KwK - thats tragic news.
Its something that I darent contemplate and it really makes you realise how lucky we all are doesnt it. x

ratfly · 01/10/2007 14:38

kw3k As a parent now, it's amazing how these things affect you. hugs.

ud - S does have a trolley - they are great aren't they. Dad and his wife are currently sending him walking from one room to the next with it . Trouble is he pulls up, wanders about, but can't turn it, so ends up whinging anyway, usually while banging it into the offending piece of furniture or trying to tip it up . tbh, the walking holding onto your hands isnt too bad as I am such a shortarse, its the crawling after me crying that I don't like!

Lizz - did you go into work anyway? Hope you feel better soon! (I find wine helps ;)

laughalot · 01/10/2007 14:41

Ratfly quick question is it you who is the teacher ?

laughalot · 01/10/2007 14:42

Oh kat that is so sad I hope you give your lo loads of hugs and kisses and feel better. Its so sad I hate bad news.

eandh · 01/10/2007 14:43

kwith3k - that it so sad and when I finish work going to make sure I give e and h a huge hug

Lizz- ((hugssssssss)) hope you feel better soon

Hattie has the vtech trolley thing will do a couple of steps but then looks all shocked and scared and just lets go and falls down (and cry) like you ratfly its the whining that really irritates me (its worse when theres two of them competing who can cry/whine the loudest so I dread to think of the noise in the 3/4 children houses!!)

Well diet going well I have lost 4lb yipeeee

laughalot · 01/10/2007 14:46

Sorry I havent replied to your text eah I need some credit. I still feel ill and then felt even worse when I went to pick Aidan up from school I shall explain all later.

katwith3kittens · 01/10/2007 14:46

Thanks guys. LO has woken up now and he's had a big cuddle ! He was giggling like mad as I was blubberng into his neck.

Its amazing how they manage to put a smile on your face !

trixymalixy · 01/10/2007 15:49

Hey everyone,

I'm totally knackered today. Was DS's christening yesterday and we had 60 people back to the house for food and drinks!!!

Ds got lots of lovely presents though and was a lovely day so was worth it.

Plus my DH finally got round to finishing all those little jobs i had been nagging him about for ages in preapration for the day!

been enjoying looking at all the gorgeous baby pictures on facebook. Is it just me or are january 2007 babies the cutest babies ever?!??!

Also can anyone else never manage to get pirates or zombies to work on facebook?

Anybody elses LO still stationary? I can't decide whether to feel miffed or not that all the other babies seem to be zooming around the place!!

trixymalixy · 01/10/2007 15:53

Kat - that is just so sad!

Lizz - hope you're feeling better!

Hope all the babies with colds are feeling better too. DS had one recently that just seemed to go on for weeks. Must be a particularly nasty one going around at the moment.

laughalot · 01/10/2007 15:57

Dragonhart · 01/10/2007 16:08

Kat that just makes me feel so sad for them. Hope they have lots of family and friends to help them get through it.

Trixy, I am glad that someone else's lo is not running around! I was begining to feel like Ruth was going to be the only one not walking walking! I too am dreading it when it does happen! Glad all went well with the christening.

Lizz. I am getting a cold too and am dreading it coming in full flow. Just a sore throat at the moment but I am starting to sound like an old man!
