Sorry, couldn't think of anything witty against a background of constant whinging!

OP posts:

LOL at the sideburns Daisy.
oh yeah packed lunches are a right PITA. school dinner at £1.20 a shot or home lunch is far better - i'm SO darn lazy!!

derlor · 31/08/2007 20:47

My DS informed DD1 tonight that she has a bottom at the back and a "jamima" at the front - PMSL!!!!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 20:53

LOL Derlor. I was prompted by threads on here about names for genitals to discuss with DS the fact that his "winkle" is actually called a penis (he caught himself on the arm of the sofa testerday). He looked at me in a horrified fashion and refused to believe me! Must remeber to tell DH to put him right!

I'm liking "jamima" though, LOL

derlor · 31/08/2007 21:10

HOLLY, i've started a game of scrabulous with you x

Jamantha · 31/08/2007 21:14

Can I have one of these please - SO cute!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 21:17

they may look cute and cuddly and eat bamboo, but every so often a wild panda reverts back to its carnivorous past, goes on the rampage and attacks and kills farm animals.

they're scary beasts...don't be fooled

wtf is scrabulous?

derlor · 31/08/2007 21:20

oh they are well cute.
Daisy its basically scrabble on facebook.
you want to play?

riabutterflew · 31/08/2007 21:33

Hi all. Sorry I don't have time to catch up just now but Ihope you are all ok.

Just wanted some advice. I know that some of you are health professionals but other than derlor I can't remember who, sorry.

Basically Dh took DS1 (10) to the Drs today as he has been weeing frequently for quite a while. The Dr did a test and there was no infection (apparently boys and men aren't really prone to infection?) but there were ketones(sp?). The Dr wanted to do a blood test there and then but DS bolted out of the surgery and DH only just caught him.
Can anyone give me an idea what it means please?

Back later...

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 21:40

I am officially obsessed with scrabulous! Thanks for playing with me derlor and lilkel!

derlor · 31/08/2007 21:43

Ria keytones in urine can be a sign of diabetes, it's really important you follow this up x hope all OK.
Holly you're welcome.

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 21:45

ria, i'm no expert, but i had ketones in my wee when pregnant and i was told it was due to dehydration.

Now, i'm pretty sure your DS isn't pregnant.

My sis had recurrent uti's frequent urination and keytones and they did testing for diabetes. it was negative though.

Mayber derlor can help?

riabutterflew · 31/08/2007 21:48

thanks derlor. That's more or less what the Dr said, we have to get the results from a lab urine test next week then see where we go from there, tho we might have to have DS sedated for the blood test! (He is almost notorious here for jumping from the trolley just before his anaesthetic when he had a growth removed from his eyelid. It took 5 of us to hold him down. I have never felt so evil).
I don't suppose there is a simple (ie non-diabetic) explaination?

Am off to have my lovely bath DH has run me (he is still trying bless him!)

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 21:50

holly, i seem to be playing scrabulous with you now

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 21:54

Sweet! I love scrabulous!

No advice ria, but have a lovely bath!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 21:56

I'm actually looking on e-bay at knitting machines as I have a notion I can make a business out of making wool nappy wraps.

DH is calling the psych team in the morning

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 21:59

Wow daisy you can weave your own lentils too!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 22:03

or knit my own yogurt!

I've also been browsing the ethical living threads

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 22:04

LOL TA just played farts as her word on scrabulous! OMG I have the sense of humour of a 14 yo boy!

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 22:05

NOOOO DAISY!! Are you going to start making your own shoes from wheat and recycling tampons?

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 22:07

did you not see my link the other day to the washable sea-sponge tampons.

or I can buy a mooncup!

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 22:07
trendaverter · 31/08/2007 22:14

I am feeling strong eco-inadequacy here.

I use disposable tampons. Disposable nappies. Carrier bags. I tumble dry things.

I feel a bit crappy listening to all you lentil biyatches and nappy knitters.

I do have a compost heap though!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 22:21

LOL TA...I tumble dry too...often when it is not really necessary.

I'm also an excessive consumer . I'm trying to cut down my consumption, but that is more economics led than conscience led

although I always buy fair trade coffee and bananas!

and our compost bin is regualry fed organic fruit and veg which has gone off before we get the chance to eat it (rotting fruit of choice is melon at the moment). I tried telling DH i'm trying to make organic compost, but he's not impressed

loonylovegood · 31/08/2007 22:22

I haven't gone as far as daisy yet, though it is only a matter of time! I hate waste of all kinds, I am very anal about it. Everyone in our house eats all their dinner or they get it the next day too! I am a scrooge!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 22:24

even baby lovegood!!
